Even though this was a short it establishes a connection between all the characters. Anthea needs to keep her job, but she’s struggling with the concept of her next article, until her friend gives her a dare. And who can resist a dare set by their best friend?
This short sets the stage for an intriguing and different world. With Belle Brooks’s usual grace this is well written and grabs the reader from beginning to end. I knew it was a short but I was not wanting it to end. There’s so many ways this story can go. I can’t wait to see how it transpires.
I loved this book. It was a novella so a very quick read. There was plenty of humour in it, to the point I laughed out loud. Just when I was ready for more though, it was over!
This is a great beginning for Belle Brooks new series! Anthea is a journalist looking for unique story, and finds a very different one do write. I love following the beginning of her story and can’t wait to see where this series will take me.
Belle Brooks is becoming the queen of every genre. She gave us contemporary, cry your eyes out, a laugh out loud romcom and a thriller that kept you on the edge of your seat till the end. With her new twelve-part short stories, I’m sure Belle is going to wow us again with the very best she has to offer!
She starts off her new series with Mr Uno and I’m already chomping at the bit to get the rest.
Anthea is a columnist for a magazine and she’s got a deadline that she can’t meet and she doesn’t have a clue how to get it done. Enter BFF Pip with an outrageous idea. Date 12 guys in 12 months for 12 articles.
Mr Uno is up first and Anthea needs to find a way to navigate around his domineering personality as she’s attracted to his sexy nature. But she’s got a job to do by Mr Uno isn’t going to let her off that easy.
This was a quick fun read and I really can’t wait to see what we get for Mr Dos.
Mister Uno is the first story in the twelve-part Mister, Mister series by Belle Brooks. This super quick story was a fun read and has completely drawn me into this series. A series that tells the story of journalist, Anthea Links as she spends a year meeting 12 different men and writing articles about her encounters with them. I can’t wait to meet Mister Dos!!
Anthea has her dream job, but she has to come up with some new articles or she’s going to lose it. After talking to her best friend Pip, when she tells her she’s going to lose her job, Pip lets her know not on her watch.
Out with friends they come up with the perfect idea, twelve men, twelve months, and she names them after the month in Spanish.
Heading to her home town she meets Mr Uno, and he’s a player, a gorgeous one at that. Mr Uno calls her out on lying about her name and profession, he always seems to know what she’s thinking.
Learning more than she thought she would about Mr Uno and finishes her story, great quick read can’t wait for Mister Dos.
Another of Belle Brooks’ stories I thoroughly enjoyed. It was over way too quickly, but that’s kind of the deal with short stories. I am a huge fan of short stories because sometimes I want to finish a story in one sitting.
This short story is a little different in that it is part of a series, and a fun series at that!!! If the rest of the stories are anything like Mister Uno I am all in. Bring on Mister Dos. This is a fun romantic series about a young writer who is suffering from writer’s block. In order to keep her job as a magazine columnist she needs to come up with a story that will blow her boss’ socks off. She, along with the help of her best friend, come up with a story that involves her dating 12 different men, one each month, but in order to get to know each of them, without bias, she cannot know their names, or vice versa. She wants to know Are All Men from Mars? Let the fun begin.
I really love the concept of this short story series….12 men….12 stories….12 months! Just as I was getting into it, well it was over. Quick, fun, fast pace read. I’m hoping that some of the other guys will have more to their storyline. I like the characters so far and can’t wait to meet the rest!
Can we just take a minute to appreciate the cover? I mean it’s stunning and fits the book perfectly. This was a sweet and fast pace read just right for those breaks in the day where you only have a little bit of time to read. I love how original the plot is I can honestly say I haven’t read any books like this one. I instantly fell in love with the characters and the writing is so easy to get lost in that I got to the end before I was ready lol. This short story is just a piece in the 12 part puzzle and I am so excited to see where they all take us.
After reading the blurb, I knew I couldn’t wait to get a start on this book. I love all of Belle’s work and this start to a short story series was no different. Although I know it’s a short story, I would’ve loved a little more detail as I had a few questions by the end of it, it was a quick, fun and light hearted read. I can’t to see what happens in Mister Dos.
Sucked me in and I couldn’t put it down. Finished in one sitting. More please!!!!
Another impeccably written, unique story by the lovely Belle Brooks. She is incredibly talented and her words are super addictive. I didn’t want Mister Uno to end. I need more!
The humor, angst and character development in this book were of course absolutely spot on and completely entertaining. I was so ready for this to be a full length versus novella. I was just so engrossed I didn’t notice the percentage on my kindle. I can’t freakin’ wait for book #2. I need more of this wildly funny, sexy series.
This is a strong 3 1/2 star for me.
Anthea is a writer in a magazine and needs to come up with something interesting to write about or lose her job.
Her and her friends come up with the wild idea of her dating one man per month and writing about the experience. Then Anthea throws in no names involved just their number and in Spanish.
Her boss agrees and here starts Anthea’s dating experiences.
When Anthea comes upon Mister Uno things start to get heated.
Once things start to get to the nitty gritty.
The date is done each goes their separate ways and basically the book ends.
I’m interested to read the next book and see how things go for Anthea.
Fantastic quick read. I loved the whole book- especially “Penelope’s” first interactions with Mr.Uno.
Can’t wait for Mister Dos
Loved it! Way too short, but that’s the thing with short stories… Mister Uno is a fun, sweet and enthralling story! Count me in on this enticing journey! I’m hooked and I want more!
This story will have you smiling. Anthea needs a fresh new story. She will date 12 guys over 12 months and report her findings. Mr. Uno is the first victim. You will love this story and you will fall in love with her friend Pip! Cant wait for Dos!
Enjoyable piece of escapism…
A reporter with something to prove…this is the story of Anthea and her bid to find the perfect story, and maybe a man or two along the way..
I loved the premise to this short, funny story…the stars of the show, for me, were Anthea and her bff Pip.. their interactions are genuinely comical at times .. I am a hopeless romantic at heart and in that respect this story was out of my comfort zone… Mr Uno lives life on the edge and is not looking for commitment and whilst Althea and Mr Number One rub along well enough together there is no real connection… they are both a means to each other’s ends…and a happy ever after is not on the cards as they embark on their tryst…
I did enjoy the humor, and the headlines in the first chapter provided a great selection of one liners…and the comic banter between all the character dynamics ensured I had a permanent smile on my face..
This was a a really enjoyable piece of escapism, drama free and skillfully written… so one down.. and eleven would be suitors to go.. I look forward to seeing where this series takes me next… I received an advanced copy of this novella from the author.
Mister Uno was a fun quick short story and something a little different than Belle Brooks is known for It was a good novella that left you wanting more. This is the first in a (very) short story series about a journalist (Anthea Links) and her dating research for a column for Rogue magazine and a dating experiment. Twelve men in twelve months for twelve articles.
I had this feeling at the beginning that I had read it before because it does have some qualities from other books I’ve read but was still unique at the same time. Even though I knew it was a novella, it seemed to be getting to the meat of the content then ended. That was a little disappointing but not enough for me to not want to read the rest of the series. I can’t wait to read about Anthea’s time with Mister Dos!
Mister Uno, a short story by Belle Brooks. It’s a very short story about Anthea, and her desperate attempt to not lose her job.
The writing was well, but the characters was…ok. Felt like the story was missing something. And it felt like it was rushed.
3.5 stars
I am looking forward to more of Short story with Athena. I just felt there wasnt enough detail in Mister Uno. I like the concept of Athena’s column and can’t wait to see how it turns out.
