I liked Mister Cowboy. It was a sweet story. It’s about two people striving to live different lives than their fathers. One wants to get out of their father’s limelight and the other trying to run from the past and the hurt held deep inside. Both finding their match were they least expected, in someone reminiscent of the life they’re trying to leave behind. I really liked Brecken and January. I loved their playful banter. They make a cute couple.
Rebecca Jenshak is a new author to me and I’m glad I gave her book a try. (3.5)
This is my first read from this author and I loved it very much. I loved both Brecken and January together. I just wished Brecken had asked more questions of Nadia when the subject was brought up. Ugh, that part just chapped my hide. I’m glad it all worked out in the end and Brecken and January got their HEA.
Mister Cowboy by Rebecca Jenshak is a wonderful first read for me by this author. I am now faced with the task of looking up her other novels and reading more and more.
January Lyle is having a craptastic birthday. She is trying to go out with her best friend Michael to celebrate but he is working late at his bar taking care of a big work party that scheduled for the same night. Sitting and stewing she strikes up a conversation with a handsome stranger and promptly insults him not knowing his true identity.
Brecken Blackstone is the head of Blackstone Software, he is hosting an office party to raise morale before hitting his employees with tons of overtime. He strikes up a conversation with a beautiful woman sitting at the bar and is intrigued.
January is smitten with the handsome stranger but heads home only to be almost hit by a car crossing the street (while looking at her phone). Surprise, it is her handsome stranger behind the wheel. Is this something beyond her control?
Brecken is hiding from his past, a past he walked away from years ago and hasn’t looked back. He needs to figure out a way to get it out of his head, forever, and January is the way to make that happen. He hires her to clean out and organize his family home getting it ready to sell. He finds himself being drawn to January more and more everyday and can’t quite figure out what exactly it all means.
January is falling fast for this suit wearing, sweet talking, extravagant gift giving hottie.
She knows better than to get involved with her boss but he just won’t take no for an answer. Could Brecken be the man of her dreams?
There is the standard conflict, a woman who doesn’t let go easily, misunderstood parents and siblings and loyal BFFs.
I really enjoyed this novel and am anxious to read more by the author. I received this advance copy from the author via a raffle and I couldn’t be more excited now having read it. All opinions stated are my own. The author wove a story so well involving multiple people in the storyline without making it feel overwhelming or keeping up with too many characters. I laughed out loud at many points, especially when Mr Cowboy makes an appearance with some colorful language.
This is a great book! I loved how Brecken and January met. Rebecca Jenshak’s writing drew me in, and I fell in love with these characters. I can’t wait to read more from this author.
Terrific romance for January and her Mister Cowboy!
Brecken and January have the kind of attraction that cannot be ignored. What starts out as a flirtatious meeting at her best friend’s bar turns into a job offer that January can’t pass up, giving both her and Brecken the opportunity to get to know each other on a more intimate level.
Brecken is truly swoon-worthy here, with a slice of deep hurt that he hasn’t yet come to terms with. Finding himself in a similar situation to the one he hated his father for, he has to face the truth of his family’s past as well as that of his heart. For her part, January is a strong presence, one that won’t let him get away with diminishing her in search of an easy answer.
This is a truly heartwarming, captivating romance that I devoured in one sitting. These are memorable characters and I know I’ll be reading this book again. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Brecken is on a mission to make his company the best. He doesn’t have time for commitments or relationships.
January is between jobs and looking to stay out of social obligations. She has had enough of that for a lifetime.
Brecken was very closed off. He didn’t open up to anybody and rarely had feelings towards anything other than his company.
January was very passionate about her job and her friendships. She was very caring and willing to put her needs aside for others.
This story was somewhat of an insta-love story. They fell fast and their story shows how one person can change your entire world. I loved how January helped Brecken understand what all he was missing out on. Even when Brecken couldn’t get his act together, she was still there rooting for him.
Overall, this was a great book. The story made me fall in love with the ranch and all of the other characters.
