Another great book (and the audio edition is excellent -except for Mary’s voice). The twist at the end was brilliant. The characterization was excellent. And the plot kept me highly engaged. As I’m listening to this series in order, I have loved the wit and humor written into the dialogue. Lisa Scottoline is a master!
Bennie defends Alice, who looks like Bennie and is accused of killing her cop boyfriend. Major mistake. Alice is nothing but trouble.
I started reading Lisa Scottoline’s work 20 years ago. This novel was released in 1999, a time before the Blackberry even existed. A cellular phone mention in the story is about an early ‘car phone’, the kind with the huge handset. This was the second book I have read by Lisa Scottoline it was great. Loved the story and the characters. I will look forward to reading more by this author
One of my favorite authors and a pretty realistic view of how the legal system actually works.
Great mystery. Page turner. Definitely recommend for readers who are interested in mystery books that partially take place in a courtroom.
Surprisingly, it turned out to be a legal thriller, which is the type of book I’ve been enjoying lately. Good, strong characters and unexpected twists and turns.
My favorite author did it again with a wow book.
Lots of suspense, romance and good story
I love all of Lisa’s books in this series and this was no exception. Such a great story teller and it gives you such insight into the legal system. I also love the fact that it is based in Philly and I know so well all the places.
Maybe “The Female John Grisham”, as the book cover art states, but not quite to Michael Connelly’s level.
This one is purely Bennie’s story, with Mary and Judy in supporting roles. We learn a lot about Bennie’s family as she defends a woman who might or might not be her twin sister.
OK story with a twist at the end.
I read this about a month ago. I remember having to make myself stop reading to do other things. And it’s one I had to pass on to a friend to enjoy.
Please get it and read it. You won’t be sorry!!
