A second chance for ’the one’ impossible to forget
Mission: Impossible To Forget (The Impossible Mission Series Book 4) by Jacki Delecki is a very well written high on suspense romance. There’s many elements at work contributing to the suspense. While the plot itself is the obvious suspense, the other areas this book creates additional suspense is Nick and Emily’s palpable tension and connection. This author takes her time with these characters, blending the antagonism of their stubbornness and the building tension of disaster around every corner. Between that and the unknown parties at play and their agendas, this Impossible Mission book is a true page turner.
The characters in this book, as well as the other books to date in this series, are phenomenal alpha protector heroes and the women who are their strong equals. Nick and Emily fit that to a T and prove what they have is real, worth fighting for and making it happen. Nick’s second chance is, in the end, not wasted even though he fought himself hard.
Overall, a very well written romantic suspense with wonderful characters getting their much deserved second chance to have the HEA they both want so much.
I read an ARC of this book from Hidden Gems and voluntarily share my review.

As a Hidden Gems ARC reader I received a free copy and promised an honest review. Here it is.
Rating: 4 stars (of 5).
In general: Damaged ex SEAL falls for famous cellist.
Main characters:
– Emily Hewitt.
She’s a world famous cello player. After her return to San Francisco from a very successful concert tour in Asia her loyal and beloved manager Yuen Li is murdered and shortly thereafter also her trusted driver.
– Nick Jenkins.
He was an excellent SEAL. But an explosion damaged his hearing. So he lost his job. Shortly after his dismissal he had a short affair with Emily in Sausalito. Both loved it. But Nick’s self-confidence was shattered after his ear damage and he feels unworthy of the brilliant, gorgeous Emily and disappears without an explanation.
Now he owns a security firm and Emily’s brother, Reeves, his IT genius, asks him to guard her for he fears that Emily is in danger because of the killings of both her trusted employees and burglaries in her former studio and her apartment. Reeves’ request causes for Nick a dilemma: on the one hand he cannot forget their Sausalito days and wants to protect her at all costs, on the other hand he feels too damaged to meet her again and moreover she’s Reeves’ sister and you don’t fall in love with the sister of one of your best friends.
Then the author, Jacki Delecki, describes how Nick’s sense of duty wins and his security team starts guarding the famous cello player and her beloved dog Stella. But it’s problematic: Emily appears to be involved in a complicated affair in which Chinese and Serbian gangs, FBI and CIA compete with each other. Furthermore Emily is still very angry and hurt after Nick’s disappearance from Sausalito and Nick tries to forget his feelings for her and wants to avoid her as much as possible. The result is an interesting romantic, suspense novel that was for me a pleasure to read.

This is the first book I’ve read in this series. I love the ex military aspect. There is a great story here and background information. It’s not just about the heat. Loved Stella she sounded cute. Nick and Emily make a cute couple if Nick can get out of his head. Emily’s friends are getting killed to get to her. Secrets, lies and danger around every corner. Loved this book. HEA.
There is no doubt I love suspense stories. This story has it all going on – suspense, kidnappings, murders, loving ex-military brothers, a cello, a feisty heroine, romance and a dog. Come on, a cute dog that entraps everyone (yes, even the military guys) in its snare. This story contains nonstop action that was so riveting it keeps you reading long past when you should be going to sleep. My favorite in this series so far…but still another brother to go and I expect that one to be off the charts. Jacki, you rule!
