Book seven of the Team 52 series a well written story with a very good storyline, the story flows smoothly across the pages. Former Delta Force soldier Axel Diaz and archeologist Dr. Natalie Blackwell’s story there is suspense, drama, danger, twists, turns, and one steamy couple. I enjoyed reading this story. I want to read the next book. I read a copy through K.U. and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is the seventh book in the Team 52 series, a Military Romance. Axel and Natalie’s story is amazing, suspenseful, and captivating. I like the ongoing plot in this series! The supporting characters are amazing. The ending is a great opening to the next and last book in the series, and I am looking forward to listening to Mission: Her Justice, Jonah’s story! I highly recommend this series.
Mission: Her Shield is Ms.Hackett’s 7th book in her Team 52 Series. This is Dr. Nat & Axel’s story, they have been dancing around each other for several of the books and he has to come to her rescue in this book. As with all the books in this series, this one is full of much adventure, bad guys, supernatural artifacts the team have to save the world from and hot romance. All of which make her books a must read, I always read them turning page by page in one sitting, they are that good!
Natalie is the product of very well educated, but aloof, parents. She pretty much looked after herself from a young age. Now an archaeologist working with Team 52, she gets to work on the bizarre and deadly relics that the team finds. Whilst also getting to regularly ogle the hunkalicious Axel. Not that she’d ever let him know that – he has more than enough ego!
Axel dwells in a dark place due to his work before T52. He doesn’t think he’d ever be good enough for someone as light and academic as Natalie. He’s no dope but neither is he an aspiring academic. He loves his family but he has even distanced himself from them lately. But when Nat gets kidnapped from what should be a safe academic conference there is no where on Earth he won’t go to find Nat.
OOOOh these two have been circling each other for yonks! I’m so glad they finally get their HEA! I think this caught my imagination more cos I’ve been to Knossos and seen the palace used as the basis for the myth and I could just plop myself down in the middle of the story and know exactly where they were talking about!
There is also a kinda grown up Beauty and the Beast vibe to the story too (always a sucker for a fairy tale LOL! Now, how long am I going to have to wait for the boss’ story – Jonah and a particularly fiery redhead?!?!?!
Dr. Natalie Blackwell loves her work as Team 52’s archeologist. She loves helping them find ancient artifacts and saving the world. What she doesn’t expect is to be the one needing rescued. All she can hope for is that her team, especially the sexy Axel, to rescue her. Axel has spent years working alongside Natalie and has fought his attraction the whole time. When she is kidnapped it forces him to admit his feelings, but he refuses to act on them still. But Natalie has other plans.
“Don’t worry, Axel. I’ll make falling in love as painless as possible for you.”
I loved this book. It picks up right where the last one ended with Natalie’s unexpected kidnapping at an archeology convention. Natalie is one tough cookie. She had a lonely childhood with neglectful parents, so she is super independent. She is an archeologist, and very smart. She isn’t afraid to stand up for herself and fight back when kidnapped. But my favorite thing about Natalie was that she never let Axel push her away. She stood up to him and kept pushing until he gave into his feelings for her. She is one of my favorite women in this series!
“Just because you’ve had your cock inside me, doesn’t mean you get to boss me around.”
Axel has seen and done too much to inflict his darkness on a woman, especially not the beautiful Natalie. Natalie doesn’t seem to understand that though. Axel is the protective alpha that you just can’t help but fall in love with. Natalie has a way of bringing Axel’s walls down and helping him overcome his past. She also shows him that he should be more appreciative of his family because not everyone has that. Watching Axel fall with Natalie’s determination was so perfect and emotional. I loved it!
“You own my heart, Natalie….And what’s left of my soul. I’ve never given them to anyone before.”
My other favorite part of this book was the artifact. This was a fascinating one dealing with the Minoans and the minotaur. I just loved the whole premise of this artifact and the creature it unleashed. I loved this book and I cannot wait for the next book, which is the last one sadly. Jonah so needs to find himself a kickass woman and I cannot wait to see him fall.
“Mission: Her Shield” is a page-turner read with lots of action, suspense, life-threatening moments, fabulous character interaction, blazing hot romance, and a happy forever.
Besides being a hot buffed Team 52 member, Axel Diaz fights the haunted memories of his past. Women fawn over him, but he pines for Nat, Team 52’s archeologist. Nat adores her job, and her fantasy dreams star Axel. A thunderstorm of fear emotions burns through Axel when he learns Nat is in grave danger in Greece. Team 52 fights an ancient Minotaur and evil mercenaries to save Nat and the world. Axel must face his demons that keep him from committing to Nat.
Fantastic well-written read with praise-worthy characters that you can cheer for. The chemistry between Axel and Nat is spot on. I loved the banter between the characters as they face imminent danger. This is a great read to lift your spirits during these times. The author shows that letting go of the past is pivotal for a happy future. Enjoying this story, I voluntarily reviewed a pre-release copy via the author.
Axel and Nat’s story was as usual, absolutely addictive!!! It was full of action with a touch of angst. I just loved how Nat Simply refused to give up on Axel. He had to come to some hard realizations to be able to let himself love but overall a terrific story line with the standard bad guys losing the fight.
Team 52’s ladies man, Axel, and archaeologist Nat have been dancing around each other from the start and finally get their book. Both are strong characters with plenty of baggage and one of them is going after what they want. The story hits the ground running and keeps the pace till the end, with some real steam and plenty of action. Enjoy!
Four and a half
Wow this starts in such a way that immediately the reader is thrown in at the deep end. Natalie is an archaeologist who works sometimes with the elite, secretive Team 52 and she is literally running for her life ! Something strange and at the same time unbelievable has taken her and her only hope is that Team 52 will get to her before whatever has kidnapped her does ! Nat isn’t going down without a fight but what can she do ? Hope that the gorgeous , teasing Axel and the rest of his friends will find her obviously but first of all just what has happened to her fellow archaeologist ?
This was a fabulous, action packed ride that certainly started as it meant to go on. Axel and Nat have previously been circling around each other in previous books so the romance here perhaps didn’t feel too much like an instant romance which I personally don’t particularly care for. I absolutely adored the fact that the author took inspiration from mythology and as thrilling as that was there are new bad guys for the Team to wrestle with. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and can only wait with bated breath for the next book in this series.
This voluntary take is of an advanced copy and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
This is definitely one of my favorite Team 52 books in the series. If you’ve read the previous book then you know that it ended with Natalie calling the Team for help when something goes wrong at her archaeology conference in Greece. This book picks up right where it left off with Team 52 going to Greece to save Nat.
Axel has always cared about Nat, but didn’t think he was good for her, so he tried to keep his distance from her. Now with her in danger, he’ll do anything to keep her safe. And Nat realizes if she can get out of the situation alive, she isn’t going to wait around while Axel ignores her anymore. She’s going to fight for him.
An ancient artifact connected to Greek mythology, a Minotaur, adventure in a labyrinth, and also fighting against an evil group that wants the Minotaur,, and wants to use Nat to get it, make this a non-stop action packed romance that you won’t want to put down.
I was given an ARC of this book , but am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
With parents who never cared for her, Nat had felt orphan of love more times than she wanted to remember. Working for Area 52 had given another twist to her life and with so many threats upon the world it was time to get the man she had her eyes put on. Axel Diaz, you are going down, oh yeah! Loved Nat’s character. Independent, smart and passionate woman that had fight all her life and had survived. Perfect to teach Axel how to live again. Interesting and intriguing adventure with a minotaur on the loose, lot of action, suspense, mystery, mythology, legends, violence, romance and passion.
Team 52 at its finest!
Axel and Natalie and a Minotaur? Natalie is front and center with her archaeology knowledge and skillful deciphering of clues. And of course, being in the right place at the wrong time. Be prepared for some chilling scenes. Thank goodness for her Team-mates’ fast response and Axel’s endearing concern for her safety.
I love how these stories encompass ‘finds’ from ancient times, drawing on the mysteries they hold to create a wonderful piece of speculative fiction. All this, wrapped up in wild, breathtaking adventure and a sizzling romance.
Another great book in the series. Lots of action, steamy and a great story.
I loved this couple. They were smoking hot. I totally wish there was a second book with more of their story. I recommend this author and all her books!!!

4.5 Stars
Axel Diaz, Team 52 Team Member and former Delta Force fighter, and Natalie Blackwell, Team 52 Archeologist, have been circling each other for a while. She wants him and he wants her, but he’s never been a relationship kind of guy and Natalie is made for that. So Axel has avoided showing interest in Nat. He’s worried sick when the team gets a frantic call from Nat asking for help. She’s been in Greece at a conference, and then suddenly she is getting attacked and needs help. Somehow, during the conference, a virus is released which turns the host into a Minotaur. This beast kills a few folks and kidnaps several more. They end up in a labyrinth and have to somehow survive. However, Nat is stubborn, and after getting kidnapped and fighting for her survival, she’s reached her limit with Axel. She’s ready to fight for what she wants, and she has decided that she wants Axel.
There’s a lot of tension in this book. The Minotaur is a hulk-like creature who is very strong. There’s also another group that wants the Minotaur, and they often end up sharing spaces with Team 52, and it doesn’t always end well for the team. The pace is steady and the dialogue sounds natural. There’s also some witty banter at times between the various team members. Ms. Hackett borrows from Greek mythology to create this book, and she does it in a clever and compelling way. Good job, Anna Hackett!
This book was a wonderful escape! This fast paced action romance was a delight to read. I always love the history lessons this author sprinkles throughout a book. Groom’s t-shirts are always good for a smile. Natalie’s being in the wrong place at the right time forces an attraction to burst into flames. This is a really good read! I received an advanced copy of this book and freely leave this honest review.
This can be read as a stand-alone, but it is more enjoyable when the series is read in order. The story has everything I love, action, suspense, mystery, danger, romance, humor, and sci-fi elements! The characters are well developed and interesting! I can’t wait for the next story in the series!
I enjoyed reading this Team 52 book, it is filled with action, adventure, and intrigue. The interaction and chemistry between the characters of Natalie and Axel is wonderful. I can’t wait for more from this author. I received this book as a FREE ARC copy to read and I voluntarily leave this review.
