Brantley Walker: Off the Books, Book 1
By: Nicole Edwards
Narrated by: Tor Thom, Charley Ongel
WOW. What a story. Not only can Nicole Edwards write a fantastic romance, but this story is one that had me on the edge of my seat. Brantley Walker is back home. After years of serving his country, he is adjusting to civilian life with career ending injuries. What will he do next? Checking out Reese to start! Hot, strong and a man he can get used to seeing, Brantley has his own mission. Until his cousin Travis’s daughter is kidnapped. Now the two will team up together to find her, and realize there is more to them than just chemistry. Edwards knows how to bring the Walker family together. I love getting to visit our old friends from Curtis on down. But the real talent is how she can meld personalities and hearts, making us fall in love with them and enjoy the journey. From the suspense of finding Travis’s daughter, to the slow burn of Reese and Brantley’s love, I was invested one hundred percent. Another wonderful listen and I can’t wait for the next book.
Tor Thom and Charley Ongel bring the Walker’s to life. I love this team and every story they read to me is engaging and exciting. Full of the emotional tugs and strong personalities, these two create a world that I fell into and enjoyed from beginning to end.

I can always count on Edwards to publish well-written, layered story lines, but I really enjoyed the character depth and complexity of this particular book. The overall plot was tense and exciting, while Brantley and Reese’s relationship was complex enough to hold me glued to the pages. It’s always nice to find characters from the series woven into off-shoot story lines, and this book had just about everyone making an appearance. The premise for the series, Off the Books, is recapped toward the end, and looks like it will be a fast-paced, high voltage addition to the Walker family(ies) stories.
I can’t even with this book. Sooooo good. I’m addicted to Brantley and Reese’s story and the uncharted territory of their relationship. I love the suspense aspect of the book as well. And those steamy parts *fans self* are some of the author’s best with the slow steps but burning passion all rolled into one. I couldn’t put this book down. Heck, I read it again when the 2nd book, Without a Trace, came out because I wanted to revisit the beginning before getting sucked into the next installment. Once I get a date for book 3, I know I’ll be going back to read them both again.
I love the juxtaposition of Brantley. BA ex-SEAL but closet romantic when it comes to Reese. His willingness to ease Reese into the unknown is so endearing and warms my heart.
And Reese… I just love him. He does stupid things sometimes that make me want to throat-punch him, but I can’t help but admire his honesty with himself and with Brantley, his want to go all in with Brantley despite how new and anxious it makes him. I CAN’T WAIT to see the progress made in their relationship as more and more books are released.
I highly recommend this book if you enjoy hot, steamy M/M reads.
This was the first book in a new series by one of my favorite authors the cover for this book is so lickable. Brantley Walker is a Walker cousin who has been medically discharged from the Navy after an op he and his seal team were on and it went bad. After being back in Coyote Ridge for four months he decided to hang with his cousins when he meets Reese Tavoularis who also is from the small town. These two strike up a friendship and after a few flirty comments turns into more. Brantley knows that it’s something about the tall sexy man. Reese who is no stranger to bring around gay men he is the younger brother to Z from “Sniper 1 Security” and is gay. This was a good read I liked both of these characters. When Travis daughter is kidnapped Brantley and Reese agree to help find the little girl. Reese is just as taken with Brantley only he is straight but there is something about Brantley. This was a good read Brantley knows that he has to take it slow with Reese so he doesn’t scare him off. In this book we also meet some knew characters Brantley has six other brothers and sisters we also meet his best friend Jessie James aka JJ who is a computer hacker. This was the first book in this series. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series
Brantley has all the alpha traits I love in the Walker men. Reese fits his perfectly. I really enjoyed getting to know both of them and I am looking forward to learning more about them and seeing where their relationship ends up
I fall more in love with this series after every page. Nicole Edwards knows she can write some smexy love scenes but in this series, to me at least, I’m finding myself so pulled in to the Missing Persons cases as well. I do love the sexy romance, but the mystery part just adds to the intensity.
Nothing is better than going back to Coyote Ridge and visiting the Walker Family, and now we get a new branch of the Walkers starting with Brantley Walker – Cousin to the infamous Walker Brothers.
Brantley is a Navy SEAL who was forced into retirement after a mission that went wrong. Finding himself back in Coyote Ridge, it’s good to be back with family but he doesn’t quite know what he wants to do with his life. As he gets acclimated back into the fray with family – the unthinkable happens, Travis’ daughter is kidnapped. Diving in to help, Brantley uses his SEAL training along with the help of his best friend JJ and new friend Reece.
Not only do we get to see another side of the Walker Family but the addition of Brantley and his siblings to the inner circle is a thrill for fans of Alluring Indulgence. This book had me turning pages as fast as I could and anytime I had to put it down, I was hurrying to get back to the story. Full of action and steam (come on its Nicole!) This book is a great start to a new series! I can’t wait for more stories to come.
Another winner for Nicole Edwards! Can’t wait for book 2!
I have read every single book that author Nicole Edwards has written and many more than once or twice even. This is one of those books that will be read several times because it is just that good. It is the start of a new series but really it is continuing on of the Walkers just another line of the family in that is located in Coyote Ridge, TX. Brantley Walker is the son of Curtis Walker’s sister and a former Seal, injured and set home. Here he is sort of settling in dealing with life his own way which happens to include PTSD and of course Travis make sure that he is pulled into one of the large family dinners while there he sees Reece Tavoularis. Now I will let you discover all about Brantley and Reece for yourself but let me just say working together yes best friends maybe anything else I would not think so. BUT hold UP there…. The worse thing in the world happens. Someone dares to take something that belongs to Travis Walker and I do not mean his car or a piece of jewelry either. Holy fuzz buckets time to call in the big guns and do not mean the Texas Rangers either. Brantley & Reece team up to find one of Travis & his triad’s most precious things. I love the ending which is a great way to lead into the next book in this series.
When I read the blurb, I was a bit skeptical about this one, but OMG I absolutely loved this book!!! WOW!!! If I could give this one 10 stars I would. With Mission: All In, Nicole Edwards has given her readers a story with two characters, Brantley Walker and Reese Tavoularis, who are extremely complex and complicated individuals, and the best part about this story is that she did not shy away from the conflict, confusion or intimacy that arose in this developing relationship. Mission: All In grabbed me from the moment I opened the book and read the prologue, and I continued to be ensnared in the mystery, intrigue, suspense and romance that encompassed this brilliantly told story.
Brantley Walker has just ended his military career due to a mission that went haywire and left him injured when he returns home to Coyote Ridge and his huge family…THE WALKER CLAN. However, there also is a bit of a complication because, back in Coyote Ridge, he meets Reese Tavoularis, who also is ex-military, Air Force, and currently works for Walker Demolition, who Brantley finds himself attracted to, only problem is Reese is straight. The two of them bond over understanding how it feels to be out in civilian life and become very good friends. Despite all of this, Brantley is conflicted about being home and not having a mission to achieve since he has spent his entire life in the military as a Navy SEAL, so when his cousin Travis Walker’s daughter goes missing, Brantely becomes the man that Travis looks to for help in finding his daughter. Together, Brantley and Reese embark on not only a mission to bring Travis’ daughter back home, but also an exploration of their relationship. It is during the telling of the beginnings of their relationship that Nicole Edwards’ storytelling skills shine as she weaves this complicated romance together with suspense and a race against time to bring a little girl home to her parents and family.
Mission: All In was an absolutely wonderful story that takes it reader on a journey that he or she never expected to experience, and what a great journey it is. Not only do you get this wonderful story featuring a new member of the Walker family, but you are introduced to so many more new members of the Walker Clan, and, of course, you get to catch up with your favorites, and not just Walkers. And only do we get Walkers, but we get new characters like Brantley’s best friend JJ. Everyone needs a JJ in his or her life. So, for those of us who are Nicole Edwards fans there are plenty of great treats and connections in this one, and for those of you who have never read a Nicole Edwards books, what a great book to begin with. Mission: All In is yet another great read by Nicole Edwards, and I cannot wait for Mission: Without A Trace. Oh…this book does not end in a cliffhanger!!!
Book 1 in a new series by Nicole Edwards and I was all in for it. M/M romance that was full of steam, suspense, action and so much more. The chemistry and attraction between Brantley and Reese was so good. Reese had a lot of self-discovery in this story because he was straight and not sure why he was attracted to a man but Nicole did a great job bringing them together. Loved this story and I was hooked from page one and didn’t want it to end. I can’t wait to read the next in this series.
I read an early review copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Mission: All In is another amazing book by Nicole Edwards. Brantley is kind of a lost person after being forced to retire from the SEALs. If you’ve read Nicole’s other books you’ll be excited to see some of her old characters make appearances. The gut wrenching piece of this book, the story of Kate, has you sitting on the edge of your seat. Watching Brantley and Reese’s relationship begin and grow was beautifully written. She also doesn’t disappoint with some smoking hot sex scenes!
Mission: All In is the first book in Nicole Edwards’ new series, Brantley Walker: Off the Books. This series is a spin off of Edwards’ Best Selling Alluring Indulgence and The Walkers of Coyote Ridge Series. Brantley Walker is trying picking up the pieces of his life and move forward, after receiving a career ending injury while being a Navy SEAL. Reese Tavoularis is a hometown resident of Coyote Ridge. When Brantley’s cousin’s young daughter, Kate, is kidnapped, Brantley and Reese jump into action to find the missing girl and bring her home. Along the way Brantley and Reese find themselves facing a new challenge, an attraction to each other.
Mission: All In was one of those reads that pulled me in from the very start. I found myself the edge of my seat praying for a safe return of Kate to her parents and hoping for Brantley and Reese to move their relationship to more than friends. This book is full of suspense and family love that just seems to grow bigger with each story.
Make sure you grab this 5 star read now so you are ready for the next book in this series.
WOW, what an introduction to the new series. SOOOOO much going on! I won’t give any spoilers but it’s plain to see that Travis’ daughter Kate has gone missing from the synopsis so I’ll tell you that when that happened even though I was prepared for it I was still a goner, I hate when anything happens to kids. So I was right there with the rest of the Walker family anxiously waiting for her return home.
Brantley Walker has returned home from his time in the Military, and is avoiding his family when Kate is taken but he does what any good person with his skills does, he goes on a hunt! Oh I wish I could just gush about everything but I never do spoilers so you really have to grab a copy of this book for yourself to find out all the glorious details.
Reese is a former Military man himself, while Brantley was in the Navy, Reese was in the Air Force, so it makes sense that they work together to find Kate. What Reese didn’t expect to happen was his attraction to Brantley, you see Reese is straight and never had any attraction to a man before Brantley. And now doesn’t that just make this a whole bunch of fun!!! I really enjoy the push and pull between emotions when a person has to come to terms with their desires and the way Reese had to work through everything was really fun to watch.
I have read the Alluring Indulgence Series so I know Travis and his family but if you haven’t no worries this is the beginning of a new series and you can start with the Walkers here but I guarantee once you get a taste of them you’ll want more.
Happy Reading!!!
Mission All In is the first book in the Brantley Walker Off the Books series by Nicole Edwards. I love the Walkers and have read ever one of their books and Brantley is their cousin. This is a new spin off series that will follow Brantley and Reese, who is Z Tavoularis brother from Never Say Never. Brantley was discharged from the Navy and he’s back home in Coyote Ridge. He’s seeing his family and old friends, but he’s still missing being a SEAL. When he meets Reese, he knows he’s straight but he can’t help like the guy. They form a friendship and spend time together just as friends. Reese doesn’t like men. Except there’s something about Brantley that just does it for him. He’s not ready to face it yet. When Travis’ daughter goes missing Brantley and Reese set out to find her. They are both former military and Brantley has a sweet setup and some good friends who are going to help him find Kate. Along the way, Reese and Brantley explore what’s going on between them. It’s more than friendship. More than physical. It could be everything. After Kate is found safe, Brantley and Reese get an offer they can’t resist. Be partners on a special Task Force. Sounds perfect to them. I loved this story! I knew Brantley and Reese were going to be good and I loved them together! I loved catching up with the Walkers and even a little bit of Z! It’s an emotional story of friendship, love, lust, family and being who you are. I can’t wait for the next book!
Absolutely Amazing!! This was such a great book and I don’t want to give too much away. I will say that this book has become one of my favorite books by Nicole. I was definitely drawn in from the beginning and was not ready for it to end. The chemistry between Reese and Brantley was so tense, I could feel it coming off the pages as I read. I loved seeing the many faces of the Walkers making an appearance, as well as, the secondary characters involved in the story. I can’t wait for the next book to see how the relationship between Reese and Brantley develop
**spoiler alert***
Nicole Edwards has started a new series in Coyote Ridge. The main character, Brantley Walker, has been medically discharged from the Navy Seals and is having difficulty finding his way. He meets a man who is close to the Walker family and finds that he is drawn to him, despite the fact that this man is straight. They become good friends and their relationship evolves as the story winds its way to a conclusion. The kidnapping of Brantley’s cousin Travis Walker’s oldest daughter, grounds Brantley and gives him purpose. With the help of his new friend, Reese, as well as an old friend, J.J., who is a talented computer hacker, they launch their own search for the little girl. Without the limitations placed on law enforcement, they were able to move quickly to find her. Their success results in the Governor of Texas asking them to start an “off the books” team to hunt for missing persons in both new and cold cases. This is just the purpose Brantley has needed and the series is on its’ way.
I enjoyed this book, which was a quick read. I do have to say that I had a hard time with the concept of a strong, alpha-male Navy Seal with the name Brantley. It is a name that I have a hard time picturing using for an adult male. However, his name did not prevent me from liking the character and following his storyline. Nicole Edwards does a masterful job, as usual, integrating a new character into an existing world. Not only that, but she pulled in characters from several of her other series to play a part. I enjoy getting continued cameos of characters that I fell in love with in previous books, and Nicole Edwards has always had the knack for connecting her characters’ lives together. As always, she is very skilled at writing about the physical relationship between her main characters. It was well balanced so that the steamy scenes didn’t overshadow the plot-line. While there is a romance evolving over the course of the book, it is not the sole purpose for the story. Her characters feel real and make me want to go to Coyote Ridge and meet the Walker clan myself. It is too bad that is not an option. I have not read any of the Walker books for some time and was a little concerned that I would have a hard time since much has happened since my last Coyote Ridge book. It turned out there was nothing to worry about. While I was aware that there were events that had happened in the lives of this family, the book didn’t leave me with difficulty following the story as everything was explained in enough detail to prevent someone who hasn’t read about all the events in their lives that I had missed. If you are new to the Walkers and to Coyote Ridge, don’t worry that you will be lost using this book as your starting point. I definitely recommend giving this book a read. I really enjoyed it.
I received and ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Man oh man, I adore this story. The premise, the characters, the heat, the uncertainty. All of it! And I cannot wait to read more. While this book does not have a cliffhanger, it’s written in a way that it’s open for there to be many adventures with the same characters.
I definitely have a soft spot for military men. After all, my husband was a Navy man himself. In this story we have both of the main characters as former military. Brantley was on track to be a lifer until a medical discharge. He was gung-ho Navy. Part of a SEAL team and not one to make the trek back home other than the occasional holiday or special occasion. Reese was Air Force and had enlisted in honor of his brother rather than because it was his own dream. He was good at his job and had no issues with the military, it just wasn’t his life goal. But, in my experience (so many family members of mine are military or former military), once you’re in the military it sticks with you no matter how long you’re out. That makes Brantley and Reese seem like a perfect fit for friendship. But there’s a spark between them that makes Brantley wonder if it’s more than friendship Reese wants.
If you’ve read any of the other stories about the Walkers, be it the in the Alluring Indulgence series or the Walkers of Coyote Ridge series, you know they are an inclusive and open-minded bunch. Although Reese isn’t a Walker by blood, he’s been part of the family for years. He grew up in the same town and his brother was friends with some of the older Walker brothers through their school years. In fact, Reese’s brother (who has his own wonderful story in the Sniper 1 Security series, Never Say Never) is gay and Reese has no problems with that at all. But Reese never had an attraction to men himself. That’s why the instant chemistry he feels with Brantley is so confusing to him. Is he gay, bisexual, something else? Does it even matter? These are all questions Reese is grappling with.
While Brantley feels the connection as well, he has never doubted his sexual orientation. The man has never “experimented” with a woman, never had an urge to do so. And though he’s very confident in the fact that he is gay, his reaction to Reese and vice versa is even confusing to him since he assumed Reese was straight. Brantley’s not one to stick his nose where it’s not wanted, but once the door is ajar and there is opportunity…he’s going to pursue it to the end.
This whole book is foreplay. I mean that in a good way. With Reese’s confusion and Brantley not wanting to get invested in someone who cannot reciprocate feelings, things are taken really slowly. Sweet kisses, hot kisses, all kinds of kisses, gradually building up to more. It’s hot and exciting and gave me all the feels. Brantley doesn’t want to change Reese. He wants Reese to come to his own realizations in his own time. Because of that, he has more patience than he even knew he was capable of having.
Although this relationship has a lot of room to grow by the end of the book, there’s no disappointment. There is satisfaction for the reader as well as the characters. As I mentioned before, there is no cliffhanger. We get a beginning, middle, and ending. We get action, relationships (romantic, friendly, and familial), lust, heat, tenderness, yearning. The reader gets it all and then some. And while I always recommend you read all of this authors books because I lover her writing, I will say that this can definitely be read as a standalone. Trust me, you won’t regret this read.
**I received an ARC of this book courtesy of the author. All opinions expressed in this review are my own and given freely**
A new series for Nicole Edwards, more of the Walker family, more excellent story telling, and characters that you can connect to. Of course the story is about Brantly Walker a man who would love to get to know Reese Tavoularis. And if your a big fan of all things Nicole Edwards like I am, you have met him before and his family. But now it is Reese’s time, and a journey of self discovery. Brantly and Reese become good friends, having the military in common, and they just plain get along great. Friends into something else? maybe, but right now they have an important mission. This book is a page turner, I was hooked from the first chapter and the book just gets better from there. It will have you holding your breathe, crying because you are sad then happy. And cheering on Brantly and Reese. I am so excited to get into the next book of this series. Excellent ending with more missions to come.
This is a new spin off series from Nicole. She writes another great book. It all starts with Brantley and getting injured during a mission. He is forced to retire and start a new chapter in his life that he didn’t expect to happen so soon. Brantley is starting to get settled in civil life. Home-check, Furniture-semi check, crushing on a straight man-check. Brantley has known that he was gay and crushing on a straight man is a big no no. He will find a way to deal with it. But first he has to come to terms with the fact he won’t be on any more missions. Before that can happen Travis’s daughter gets kidnapped. He and Reese join together to bring her home. Along the way there is some danger, emotions run high, and some major chemistry. I look forward to reading more of their story.
I would have given this book five stars but some of the dialogue and situations sounds familiar. I’m not sure if it from another of Nicole’s books or else where.
