The story held together and stayed on track. The character of Jim is well defined and it is easy to understand how he connects with the foster children but avoids closeness with adults. There is a great twist towards the end of the book. It’s too bad there are so many typos and grammatical errors, some of them so glaring as to be laughable; but it’s still worth reading.
This was a pretty good story, but it was in dire need of some good editing. There were numerous grammatical errors and there were a couple of sentences that made no sense. All of this made for unneeded distractions.
This book would’ve been acceptable if it didn’t have PROFANITY, which is never necessary to make an intriguing read.
This was a great book, held my interest through out the whole book. Not the run of the mill book where you can guess the ending.
I enjoyed reading this book. It was a little different than the usual whodunnits. I figured out who the ring leader was about half way through the book, but it was still a good read. I was really pulling for the detective. Even though he had a rough childhood, he has accomplished much in his life, but is very unsuccessful in relationships of any kind (his own fault).
Good mystery tale with lots of twists and turns to hold my interest
Kept you turning pages
just hard to imagine what it is like to be in foster care…this was the scary side
Too many odd coincidences to sustain the story line.
There are things in this book that just don’t quite hang together. Lots of typos are distracting. What has the cover got to do with the story?
You never know where life will take you!
I generally shy away from reading anything involving harm to children: as a mother, grandmother, and physician, I feel it flies in the face of anything enjoyable. This book, however, was more concentrated on how a grown man, now with the police force, was once abused as a foster child and thus uber-invested in finding the bad guys who committed child trafficking. That was a satisfying read as he grappled with not only the gruesome details of the crime but also as he dealt with finding out who his biological father was.
Awesome author
Full of surprises. I love the way the story develops and unfolds. Great work by the author.
Great book, couldn’t put it down and the end may surprise you, it did me
The characters were realistic. The author kept you guessing through most of the book, but when you got close to the end it kind of came to a close rather quickly. I had read another of his books with the same two detectives as the main characters and I have to say that he hit on a couple of likeable characters there. He has a lot of promise.
Good series
As good a detective story as I’ve ever read. A great well written book, tight to the end.
I really loved reading it. A lot of twists and good fast paced reading.
Fairly good story.
