4 Star review Murder In Cottonwood Springs (Cottonwood Springs Cozy Mystery #1) by Dianne Harman
Audio Review:
Dianne Harman is a relatively new author to me whilst the narrator Kasey Logan is new to me.
I enjoyed the story, however I struggled with the narration at times. I loved stories that are set in small towns where everyone seems to know everyone and their business. This was an entertaining cozy mystery.
Brigid Barnes has returned to Cottonwood Springs, Colorado and is shocked when one of her good friends is murdered. There was murder and humour and it was fun to follow the clues and trying to solve the mystery before it was resolved.
Brigid is trying to decide on a wedding venue–she can’t seem to decide–she finally hears of a florist and makes an appointment to meet with her. But when she gets there-the store is not open–the florist’s husband comes to the shop–and he is frantic–his wife is missing! He knows that Brigid has helped with investigations before and begs her to help find his wife. She agrees and works with the sheriff–all the while trying to find a venue for her wedding!
Now Cotton Springs is a small town and small towns are safe-aren’t they? Or are they? Human trafficking has arrived–Will Brigid and the sheriff be able to track down the missing florist and stop these traffickers? Will Brigid finally decide on a wedding venue and find a dress?
This is another winner from Dianne Harman that I highly suggest you read.
This series is one of my favorites. I love the characters in it! While planning her upcoming wedding to Linc, Brigid finds out about a young woman who has disappeared. She feels connected to the woman and gets involved in the investigation. There is a possibility that this is related to some other missing persons cases. This mystery was an emotional one due to the story line. The missing local people could possibly be victims of abductions and a trafficking operation. But Brigid and the others are determined to finds out what happened.
This review is for the audio book.
I enjoyed this book. This isn’t your normal cozy murder mystery to solve in fact there is no murder, like the title suggests it is a missing person case. There is no mystery either, as there is only the one set of suspects but that doesn’t mean there is no case as Brigid does have to question witnesses in order to find out what happened to the missing. The mystery is well worked into all the wedding plans and the seriousness of the subject (human trafficking) is nicely counter balanced with cake tasting (it also gives the author a chance to give you recipes at the end of the story). The story does jump around with Brigid finding out the florist was missing and then goes back to why Brigid was at the shop, which can seek a bit confusing if this is the first book by this talented author you have listened to.
When Brigid calls into the flower shop to book the flowers for her up coming wedding she is surprised the shop isn’t open. That is until she meets the frantic husband who informs her his wife has gone missing. The man is good friends with the sheriff who has told him all about the help she has given him over the years and wants Brigid to help find out what happened to her. Time isn’t on there side if they want to get her back and when she learns the woman isn’t the only person to go missing in the area she fears for her own adopted daughter safety. Could Holly be next? They were all snatched in the middle of the day and anybody could be next? Can Brigid help the sheriff find the missing or will her wedding plans have to be put on hold indefinitely?
I liked the narrator. She has read a few of the author’s books and always puts in a solid and enjoyable performance.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
