Sure kept me guessing!!
Kept my attention from first page. Lots of Feiffer to pieces to the story but all wind up in the end! Finished in two sittings.
You think it is repetition of the questions, they ask and ask over and over. Then you realize this is how it is done in real life. They are looking for any clue, the way the questions are answered. Makes one realize that nothing is hidden when a child is missing. The innocence for all adults, or children will never be the same. Of their secrets, the fears, will be known and recorded. This had many twists and turns, filled with deep emotions, as the author does so well.
My other thought let kids who want to run away read, and maybe grasp, of what that action will bring. Lives will never be the same if they do.
This was another winner for the author and for us as readers.
Maddie is twelve years old and launching a furious campaign to be allowed to date boys. But her mom, Karen, isn’t willing. Older brother Tyler, and dad Ryan, have heard the arguing and hateful comments Maddie hurls at her mom, when yet again, her mother refuses to back down. Ryan is experiencing some serious financial difficulties with his drywall business and Karen has her own painful past to deal with. One night, after a dinner out by themselves, Ryan and Karen become part of a group no parent ever wants to belong to. When Tyler goes to wake Maddie up for breakfast the following morning, she has vanished. There are traces of mud in her empty room, and a ladder on the ground below her bedroom window.
This is a truly excellent thriller, and while there are many novels about abducted children, this is a major standout in the field. This very well written and polished book held my attention the whole way through. Just when I thought we’d reached the inevitable conclusion, the author, Mr. Mofina, woke me right up with an ending I would never have seen coming. Very strongly recommend.
Thank you to Netgalley, the author Rick Mofina, and the publisher Harlequin-Mira, for the wonderful opportunity to read an ARC of this outstanding and memorable book. This is my honest opinion.
Missing Daughter by Rick Mofina. Missing Daughter is shockingly realistic. You feel real pain for the poor parents of the missing 12-year old. Their lives are examined under a microscope by hard-nosed police officers and a relentless press. Supportive neighbors turn sour on them as events make their lives more and more difficult. Missing Daughter has more twists and turns than a forest trail. Mofina is a fabulous writer and Missing Daughter is a great read. https://www.rickmofina.com/
Rick Mofina does not disappoint! The twists and turns keep on coming. Don’t start this book late at night, you’ll be reading until the sun comes up.
Excellent writing. He never disappoints.
I always like Rick Mofina, but the story dragged with the characters dwelling on their guilt over and over.
What a thrill ride!
I enjoy author Mofina’s writing style. He definitely knows how to keep a story moving along.
In this fast-pace tale, every parent’s worst nightmare comes to pass. Ryan and Karen Lane live in Syracuse, New York. Ryan is trying to keep his floundering drywall business afloat and Karen is a checker at a local grocery store. They have a 13 year old son, Tyler, and a 12 year old daughter, Maddie.
One night they go out for a date night and after everyone is in bed, someone creeps into Maddie’s bedroom and now she’s missing.
This is a terrible story of a family’s anguish as the days go by with no news.
There are more twists and turns in this story than I think I’ve read in one book before. It is convoluted and tricky and addictive.
One thing I really came away with was how law enforcement just about tore this family apart with their suspicions. They were relentless. Yes, I know the family are usually the likely suspects but come on, this was a lot overboard imho.
I received this book from MIRA Books through Net Galley in the hopes that I would read it and leave an unbiased review.
I love all of Rick Mofina’s books and this one was not exception. He definitely keeps the suspense going with all sorts of twists and turns.
Missing Daughter is another great edge of your seat thriller by Rick Mofina.
Maddie has gone missing and just about everyone is the family is suspect.
Let the twists and turns begin !!
This book grabs you from page one and doesn’t
t let go to the last page.
I thought I had it figured out; hm !! Not at all.
You can’t go wrong with a Rick Mofina thriller.
ANOTHER GREAT BOOK!
Too much time spent on characters that didn’t help the plot
Many times our family members have an impact on our lives that we do not know about until it is too late. This book keeps the reader interested until the end. The writer gives the reader enough hints to piece the plot together at the very end.
Rick Mofina makes every book edge of your seat and something you have to keep reading late into the night to find out where he is taking you. I try to read all Rick Mofina books and he never disappoints. Each one is thrilling in it’s own way with so many twists and unpredictability
