“Miss White and the Seventh Heir” is book two of Jennifer Faye’s duet Once Upon a Fairytale.
Sage White is tasked to bring QTR magazine back into respectability while Trey Rousseau intends to shut it down.
Going undercover, Trey is hired as Sage’s assistant and, against his better judgment, starts to admire and respect what Sage is trying to do.
Sage, having lost her place in her family’s publishing empire because of the evil-doings of her stepmother, is focused on her job at QTR and is intent on not being betrayed again.
Trey is all about getting back at his father (who owns QTR) for leaving him and his mother and that is by closing the magazine.
While I thought the scenes with Elsa, the evil stepmother, bordered on being believable, she truly is unlikeable. Which, after all, is the author’s intent.
Ms. Faye’s “Miss White and the Seventh Heir” is a good mix of old and new of this well-known childhood fairytale.
Another wonderful book by Ms. Faye. A modern take on Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
Lot of emotions and a sweet little dog named Happy.
Sage White would do whatever she needed to do in order to save QTR magazine. She did however need an assistant. When the first six just wouldn’t go she almost lost hope. The seventh one seemed to almost fit the bill. Trey Renault she would give a trial run. He worked hard.
Trey Renault was hiding something. He needed to know what magic Sage had over QTR magazine. There was something about her that got to him. She cared, and she worked hard. Little did she know what he was doing. What would she do once the truth was out of the bag, and she discovered his true identity?
A good read. Not “On-the-edge-of-my-seat” suspenseful reading, but definitely one that kept me enthralled and eager to keep reading. It was sweet to watch how Sage and Trey’s need for one another would play out. Purpose, redemption, forgiveness, love… all a part of their story. The fairytale twist was fun, too.
This is a cute romance with a fairy tale twist. We have the witch of a step-mother in Elsa White. A woman determined to destroy our main character Sage White so she can keep the publishing empire her husband build for Sage.
Sage is now on the opposite side of the country, trying to save a failing publishing company. When she hires Trey Rousseau as her PA, she is unaware that Trey is going undercover. He is the new CEO of the company who is determined to close it up.
It was fun to watch these two interact. They both have trust issues and are sure that happiness and love is not for them.
What happens when Sage discovers Trey’s identity? Will she lose her chance at love or will they get their HEA?
Another fun story by Ms Faye.
I read this copy voluntarily. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
MWatSH is the second book in the Once Upon A Fairytale duet but don’t worry, it is a standalone. I recommend book one as well because Ms. Faye has put her own spin on the fairytales of old.
I really enjoyed this book, read it in one evening, and was pulled right into the story. Overall about the book: the story just flowed. For me, it never dropped my interest, as some stories do, and pulled me from chapter to chapter. I’ll jump right in and tell you that the stepmother character? Whoa. I loved to hate her. Total witch! And that’s before I associated her with the old fairytale. Some of her lines were priceless. I sat here shakin’ my head and laughing, thinking to myself, how can no one see how evil this woman is? Great characterization; totally believeable.
Ultimately, the story is about Sage White and Quentin Rousseau III (or Trey as Sage knows him). I won’t retell the story as the author does it so well that I would do it injustice. Know that Sage and Trey both have major family issues to work thru, both are holding back from the other. and it’s the actual “work” that they share which brings them together. Neither of them thinks that they, personally, deserve happiness or love but as we all have come to expect from our romances, they eventually work it out.
Great story, I found myself smiling long after I had read ‘the end’, and cannot say enough about it. SO happy I was able to purchase this book and read it right away.
Jennifer Faye is a phenomenal author. I loved this book, and I couldn’t put it down. Sage and Trey are dealing with things in their past that are still affecting them. They prove to be a powerhouse team, and together, they confront their problems and work to resolve them. The team of employees that work for Sage are amazing, and are like a family to her. I highly recommend this book, especially if you love an amazing story with great characters, and a sweet dog.
