Liam Davenport is the most infuriating man I’ve ever known – and he’s my boss. Worse, he’s undeniably sexy. At least until I’m subject to one of his trademark sighs of disapproval. I’m counting the days until I can walk away from this job. But first, I need to survive the trip from hell he’s dragged me on. One entire week with his arrogant smile and my unexpected naughty thoughts. I might get …
I might get fired.
He just might be worth it.
Kendall Tate is the most distracting woman I’ve ever met – and she’s my assistant.
She’s irritatingly clever, and much too nice for the likes of me. I need to remain professional, even if the smell of her strawberry lip gloss is my kryptonite. No matter how much I want her, Kendall is off limits.
Growing closer to her might be a mistake.
I might just take the risk.
Full Length Standalone book with no cliffhanger. First book of the “Miss Series”.
Miss Understanding is for mature audiences due to steamy bedroom scenes that are in no way contained to just the bedroom.

Holy dickhead bosses, Batman!
If you love office/boss-employee romances as much as I do, Miss Understanding is a fabulous book to add to your favorites reads.
Liam Davenport is the epitome of an asshole boss. He is cold, demanding, dismissive, and limits eye-contact to 0.1%. If I were his assistant my list of ways for him to suffer would be a whole lot more deadly than Kendall’s was. The “Miss Understanding” title is not for nothing, people.
Although unbelievably hot and extremely attractive -physically- Liam has the emotional availability of a snowflake. His sole focus is work and reaching his hard-set goals, and absolutely nothing and no-one will ever get in the way. Cue in family drama he can’t really ignore and his carefully controlled life gets turned upside-down. The fact that he’s somehow forced himself into a week of close proximity with her completely off-limits but too sexy assistant is just the cherry on top.
I was seriously in awe of Kendall; I think I would have lost my shit and bitch-slapped Liam on more than one occasion. The fact that she could be so caring and understanding while still asserting herself and not letting him walk all over her was absolutely amazing. The sass this girl could throw was epic.
Of course, once Liam starts to thaw and their attraction is unleashed, their chemistry is off the charts hot and their time together had my heart pounding out of my chest.
There was lots of personal growth in this story from both Kendall and Liam which I loved. The banter, their connection, and the way I was totally invested made Miss Understanding one hell of an amazing read.
*First time reading author
Miss Understanding starts out as a funny cute story that turns into an interesting, romantic and seriously romantic story. Aubrey brings a real story to life and takes you on the journey of discovery between these two characters that are boss and assistant.
Liam and Kendall are not a normal love couple. These two do not get along at all, Kendall absolutely hates him and Liam tries everything he can to stop his attraction towards Kendall. But when Liam’s father dies and he has to take time away from work he makes Kendall go with him. Close quarters make for interesting conversations.
Kendall & Liam gave me a great story! I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Kendall and Liam had awesome chemistry and I enjoyed watching the sparks fly. I thought that Kendall’s experience dealing with an obnoxious boss was pretty spot on. Her “List” had me chuckling. Liam took a couple of pages to grow on me but I ended up loving him too.
Aubrey Bondurant – HOLY SMOKES WOMAN!! I am left speechless after reading this book!! The words are like magic that I need in my life. It is an enthralling, totally obsessive book I could not put down!! An unbelievable, emotional, over the top story that continues to live in your heart long after the last word.
I am so impressed with her ability to create stories that peak your interest and engage you throughout the whole story. An epic author that will make your top author and one click list.
This workplace romance features Liam and Kendall. Sparks fly but are slowly put out by Liam being mean to her. When circumstances come that are out of their control, the sparks are uncontrollable. The story is a rollercoaster of emotions that will make you hold on until the very end!!
Such a well-written and amazing book – ALL readers need this book!!
…meets Mr Oblivious
How frustrating would it be if the beautiful man in front of you was an absolute DOUCHEWAFFLE? I’m not talking egotistical jerk or even an arrogant manwhore type of douchewaffle… this douchewaffle is Mr Oblivious. Sure, he notices some things in his peripheral but generally, he’s absolutely oblivious to everything outside of work. Mr Oblivious is also Mr Workaholic. The beautiful man has no social life, forgets to use his manners and has very high standards when it comes to his work. You could even say his standards are a wee bit unrealistic. Luckily, he has a very understanding person working for him, but little does he know, she’s wishing cold sores and gastro on him daily.
Poor Miss Understanding…AKA… Kendall, is Mr Oblivious…AKA… Liam Davenport’s personal legal secretary. Kendall needs this job to help support her family while she also continues her studies business. It is not her lifelong ambition to stay a legal secretary and if she had her wish, Kendall would be pursuing a career in cooking. Miss Understanding may not hold her position for much longer though because she’s about to spend a week away with Mr Davenport. If he doesn’t stop being a douchewaffle, Kendall might end up in the clanger for murder by the end of the week. How can someone so beautiful to look at be such a jerk?
Liam Davenport knows he is a bit of a douchewaffle and cares too much about work, but he has finally realised that he’s been oblivious as well. After the first day travelling with Kendall, he has realised that the barrier he put up between himself and his sexy secretary has made him look like a jerk. She is a temptation he can’t afford to succumb to if he wants the partnership at the legal firm they work at. His determination to get his name on the door at work means he doesn’t have time for a relationship, but the forced living arrangements are making him reassess his priorities.
Miss Understanding follows a tried and true path in romance. From storylines including enemies to lovers, boss falling for his secretary and relationship scaredy-cat to loving family, we’ve seen them before but keep coming back for more. Aubrey Bondurant does not disappoint and brings us a story about love, forgiveness and sacrifice.
The journey for Liam and Kendall is not an easy one and along the way we see both characters grow their confidence. For Liam, he has finally come to terms with his past and realised his value. For Kendall, she wants to finally follow her dreams and realises she should accept nothing but the best for herself.
I found Miss Understanding very easy to read and I was desperate to return to when I had to stop because of life…stuff. We are treated to dual points of view, so we get an inside view of why Liam does the things he does. The story flows well and the intimate scenes show the characters connection without it being OTT. I believed that Liam and Kendall were right for each other and were destined to a happy ever after.
If you’re a fan of Aubrey Bondurant, you will not be disappointed. Miss Understanding is the first in the Miss series, and I will definitely be back for more.

What a great start to a new series! When I heard that Aubrey Bondurant was coming out with a new series, with the first being enemies-to-lovers/office romance (two of my favorites!), I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. As with all of Aubrey’s books, the story sucked me in and I had a really hard time putting my kindle down. Liam is an attorney who has his mind set on making partner at his firm and lets just say, isn’t so nice to his assistant, Kendell. Kendell was making do with the situation she was put in being his assistant. Her passion wasn’t law but laid elsewhere. I did chuckle a few times…I mean who hasn’t at some point wished a little discomfort on their boss when they aren’t being so nice?
I’m really looking forward to the next book in the series.
5 ALL THE FEELS STARS!! This book is PERFECTION!! The feels in Liam and Kendall story is off the charts. Their story had me, laughing, crying, mad, sad and kept me flipping pages. This author words are like watching a movies, clear and precise, there is nothing missing. The characters are so likeable, even when they are jerks like Liam at times. This is a must read…..grab it now.
First I want to say I am a big fan of this author and was super excited to get my hands on this gem. And Ms. Bondurant did not disappoint with Liam and Kendall. I could not put this book down once I started it. I just loved how their story unfolded and the flow in which it was written. I totally fell head over heels for Liam even when he was being a jacka$$. I was still rooting for these two. I honestly can say I will be rereading this one again. Definitely recommend. Can’t wait to see what is next!!
Review by Tabitha
Miss Understanding by Aubrey Bondurant is book One in the Miss Series. This is the story of Kendall Tate and Liam Davenport. Kendall is Liam assistant for the last few months. Liam is hard nosed who demands a lot with not thank you or appreciation. When his father dies who he isn’t close to at all but Liam is close to his mother and sister so he feels the need to return to be there somewhat for them. But they are closing in on a case and he wants Kendall to go with him to make sure they stay on track for the case. This puts them working in close quarters which starts to loosen the business side of Liam. I started reading this and didn’t stop until I was finished…I really enjoyed their story.
I really enjoyed this book. I thought Kendall and Liam had really great chemistry and I enjoyed watching the sparks fly between them. I thought that Kendall was very relatable because of how she was living her life and having to deal with such an obnoxious boss on a daily basis because of it. Plus, anyone that has found themselves in this situation is sure to get a big chuckle out of her “List”. Liam was definitely a character that had to grow on you but once his layers started to be revealed I thought he too became very relatable and likable. It was great to not only witness the evolution of this couple’s relationship but to witness the characters themselves evolve over the course of the story line. I felt that the story line that was fun and it easily kept me entertained. This book offers a good balance of tension, strong emotions, drama, heart, humor and some heat.
This is the 1st in this amazing series and is Liam and Kendall’s story. Liam is a workaholic who is not the easiest of bosses, and Kendall is his assistant. This is a well written story which is emotional, humorous, and a great enemies / lover’s tale. I look forward to reading more in this addictive series.
I received a complimentary ARC – early release copy of this book in Kindle format from the author for review purposes.
This is my first time reading this author and I LOVED it a lot. This is a boss/employee romance with a twist I guess you can say. Liam is a lawyer and Kendall, his assistant and they both work together and he is a royal pain in the neck. He has to go home for a week before a big meeting with a clients deposition and so he takes Kendall with him.
He has not been home in many many years and so he hates going but his ass of a father is dead and so he cannot avoid it. He goes home for his mother and sisters sake, to his puny little small town. He and Kendall end up staying in a house they rent and thats how they get to know the other on a more personal level.
The story starts out as enemies and eventually they become friends and then form an attraction. But what happens when the week ends and they go home? Well I am not spoiling that. But this was a wonderful story and I truly loved everything about it.
What a great start to the new Miss Series and if book 1 Miss Understanding is anything to go by this will be a great series that I’m sure I will be reading and re-reading.
Liam doesn’t want Kendall his PA to like him, he wants to be the boss everyone hates and he is doing his best to make sure she has no reason to like or think he will ever be anything more than her obnoxious boss…..but the problem is the attraction is instant and the chemistry sizzling and what can I say about the witty banter this couple share apart from it’s perfect. I loved Kendall from the get go, Liam not so much but as Kendall chipped away at him I found myself swooning and falling big time for the man behind the wall, a front he wears so well. I smiled, I giggled and I swooned a lot throughout this great read and I’m excited for book 2 in the series. A beautifully written heartfelt love story from this very talented author.
Loved Liam & Kendall!!
I absolutely loved this! Enemies to lovers is one of favorite tropes, and then add office romance into the mix? Yes, please!!
Kendall is the perfect heroine. She’s strong and confident and sassy and knows how to hold her own…and surprisingly hold her tongue, when really, she’d love nothing more than to tell Mr. Sexy Pants boss man where to shove it.
Liam…so grumpy, so uptight, so…bossy. And anti-relationship and cold and sometimes rude and seemingly heartless.
I was immediately drawn to both of them. Even more so when sparks started flying and the sexual tension started getting thicker when they went away for a week. I could feel everything.
Watching their boss/assistant relationship grow into more was highly entertaining, super sexy, and it was more than satisfying. This story has humor, charm, and toe-curling goodness that had me never wanting to put it down.
This is the first book in the series.
Can not wait for book 2!
What an amazing story! I absolutely love everything about this book! Liam and Kendall’s story was amazing! I loved the back and forth as well as the witty humor! There were some parts of the story that seems to drag a little bit (for me anyway), but overall I loved this one!
Everytime I read another Aubrey Bondurant book, I fall more and more in love with her writing. She is most definitely a pro at office romance. Add to that a bit of enemy to lover and you have a fun, witty story worth reading. Liam doesn’t let ANYONE in…all he cares about is moving up the ladder at work. Kendall puts up with his attitude and demeanor as a means to get what she needs…money and a degree. There is no way she could possibly fall for this jerk is there? She may have to be way stronger than she expects in order to even move forward a little in this relationship without throwing her feelings on the line. Lots of feels, lots of witty banter, lots of nice steam.
Loved this book!
