This cover gets me every time.
I had so much fun reading this book! It was like a combination of characters that could have come from some of my favorite old shows like Adam’s Family, Munsters, Bewitched, and even a touch of Dark Shadows. Ms. Danley put together a fun and light story surrounding colorful characters that find themselves in the midst of a “magical mess”. I love the name of the main character, Elle Spell! How perfect is that! She and her partner, Ajax, run the No Spell Hotel and its mix of mysterious guests. She acquires an apprentice, Precious, and they all work together to solve a mystery that they can’t remember. Ha Ha!
Elle Spell has had her powers revoked by her coven and she has to work with her ingenuity to overcome the “dark” circumstances that are looming. I giggled and laughed. It tickled my funny bone! There is great humor in the book along with some suspenseful mystery. I had the pages turning to find out how, in the “magic”, was she going to get out of the situations.
Ms. Danley wrote such descriptive scenes with dragons, elves, gargoyles, vampires, goblins and of course witches…this book has it all. I am so glad that I had the opportunity to read this book.
Seriously! This is a funny, quirky, hilarious book. It’s a series of comical events and magical adventures that kept me reading!
Thank you to Ms. Danley for the fun read and I will be looking forward to the next book in the series!
Miss Spell’s Hotel is not my typical genre to read, but it looked fun and I thought I’d give it a try. I’m so glad I did because I really enjoyed the story of Elle Spell, her right hand dwarf, Ajax and her apprentice, Precious. Who knew that a witch without magic would run into things like goblins and vampires and the undead? Not I! I don’t even like books with vampires, but I did really like this one. If that doesn’t say something, like READ THIS BOOK, I don’t know what does!
The adventures that Elle and Ajax (and later Precious) find themselves in the middle of are the type of things that make you want to read faster so you can find out what will happen. I loved the scene in the hot tub with the vampire and his “blood bags”, by the way! Interested? I was too.
I’m so glad I gave this book a chance by requesting an ARC and being approved. I will now definitely read more of Ms. Danley’s books and will be eagerly awaiting the next book in this series. My thoughts in this review are my own.
Miss Spell’s Hotel was a fantastic read. This is the first time I’ve read a book dealing with magic and I had to keep turning the page. It kept me interested and in suspense. I highly recommend this book and I can’t wait until another one comes out!
A quick and amusing read that had me flying through the pages! In striving to save her hotel, which has been in her family for generations, Miss Spell salvages much more! A great start to a new paranormal series!
