Bewitched meets Murder She Wrote.Amelia Spelled believes in baking it til you make it . . . But when her boyfriend dumps her, her boss fires her, and she’s evicted from her rental thanks to one too many cooking mishaps, Amelia finds herself all dressed up with nowhere to dough. Amelia is just about ready to pie for help when a handwritten letter is slipped under her door. Now she is off to country … door.
Now she is off to country Australia, where a mysterious house is not the only thing that awaits — there is also the revelation that her ancestors were witches. But if Amelia thinks she’ll have time to process these new developments, she’s dead wrong. There is a murder, and she’s the number one suspect.
Will Amelia cook up a way to solve the crime? And just what — or who — does the dashing man lurking in the shadows want?
Book 1 in a charming and delightful cozy mystery series from USA Today Bestselling and multiple All Star author, Morgana Best.

This book is fine as a quick diversion. It’s an easy read with fairly well-rounded characters and an interesting plot. I’m glad I read it, but I doubt that I’ll specifically seek out this author in the future.
Miss Spelled written by Morgana Best was a quick, light read that I was able to complete in an afternoon. It is a cozy mystery with interesting characters and an interesting story line.
Amelia is down on her luck, her boyfriend becomes sick after she cooks for him and then he dumps her, she loses her job, and her landlord evicts her. She then has an opportunity handed to her when her Aunt dies and leaves her a house and a business. So, with very little choice she heads off to country Australia to start a new life.
There are many surprises awaiting Amelia as she moves to a new town and starts her new life. But as all good mystery novels this is never as easy as it seems. Amelia can’t cook to save herself and now she owns a bakery, there is a murder, and things are a little weird at her new home, or is it that her new home is a little weird?
This is a fun book, very easy to read, and I enjoyed learning about the new characters that had entered her life as she finds out more about her family and the legacy that they left for her.
This genre is not a one I usually turn to, but I did enjoy this one. Morgana has a nice easy writing style that that had me wanting to find out more. The main character grew as the story progressed which had me wanting her to succeed, to find the murderer and make new friends. Morgana built a very clear picture of a small town and what life in a small time would look like.
After reading the blurb on the book, I found that the Miss Spelled lived up to what was written about it.
The character building was done well, and I hope as the series continue that Amelia will grow as a character along with her interesting town’s people. I am interested to follow Amelia into the next book titled Dizzy Spells.
I was gifted a copy of this book by the author Morgana Best through Voracious Readers Only.
It’s in my library “to Read” so cannot give review just yet.
Interesting characters and a good story
Did not like it.
It was an nice read. A bit out there and that was a big plus.
Didn’t like.
This book is about a woman who is a klutz in the kitchen that inherits her aunt’s cake shop. She also discovers her aunt was a witch.
A bit hokey for my taste, but not bad at 3am. Truly light reading.
Not bad for it being about a witch —
This story is cute, not too much of a page turner.
Ok
This was a waste of time.
For those who appreciate the occult.
It was an ok read–a little short on excitement, but was entertaining.
Couldn’t finish it, did not hold my interest, far fetched.
Miss Spelled is a mystery attempt, but just doesn’t bring it home. The solving of the lead character’s crisis is so over the top simple as to be smug. In fact, the character does nothing to lead herself out of a dilemma created by her lack of talent, but is lucky enough to be taken under the wing of a crew of newly met people to solve her issues.
As if that ever happens.
As characters go, the focal one is, to be blunt, a simpleton, lame (idiomatically speaking) and thereby uninteresting; the mystery boring and the book about two hundred pages too long. Rewritten as a short story, it might have held some interest.
It wasn’t a favorite.
This book had some interesting turns of events. The characters are eccentric and not as they appear. It was enjoyable, quick to read and entertaining.
It kept you interested and was an easy read.
