Meet Hilary Watts: pretty, straight A-student, teachers’ pet, goody two-shoes, totally has it all together—and has never been kissed, or even had a boyfriend for that matter.Meet Grayson Dymicks: badarse persona, new guy in school, just moved in next door, volatile—and a total jerk. When Hilary finds herself attracted to the very person she shouldn’t be, she never imagines all her well-placed … shouldn’t be, she never imagines all her well-placed Jenga blocks will come crashing down—or that her first ever kiss will be with a boy every girl in school wants for themselves.
Hilary’s life is turned upside down and she realises she’s not as put together as she thought. Instead, she’s as totally messed up as all the other teenage girls her age—but is this a romance destined for a happily ever after or a broken heart?

A coming of age story unlike a lit of ya books. Hillary is young lady becoming a women with plans and a hilarious bestie here comesthe hot new guy! Even the best laid plans often dont work like you think!
This was a fun, quick read about first love and getting through your high school years. I enjoyed the depth of the characters stories. These are teenagers, but they aren’t portrayed as mindless adolescents. They are dealing with family issues and are also trying to figure out who they want to be. They make mistakes but learn from them. I hope this isn’t the last we’ve seen of Hilary and Grayson, as the only disappointment with this story is that it ended.
I loved this story. It reminded me what it was like to be young and think you know where your life is headed only to have the unexpected happen. Cheers to Hilary and Grayson.
Miss Not Together is a teenage girl (Hilary) with her life planned out to a T and all here ducks in a row. That is until she meets her first teenage love (Grayson) and finds out that plans change.
The many firsts that happen as a teenager and life changing moments, the angst and trauma of growing up to adulthood and navigating through that time has been wonderfully written. An easy read that will take you back to your own teenage years.
Hilary. A girl we can all see as ourselves at school. Smart, shy, quiet, snarky but in love with her best friend Freddy only as a best friend should. Until she sees Grayson. Horrible, non verbal, douche bag and all round lame boy. As she navigates the usually problems as a teen like puberty, late blossoming, she also have to contend with her mom working away. As Grayson and Hilary navigate their none existent relationship she gets a shock when she sees two of him. Will she be able to like like Grayson??? A great read that is on a YA level but I still really enjoyed it
Belle Brooks writes something for everyone. In her new YA book, she brings high school back to mind bringing all the craziness that happened to girls in school. Hilary and Grayson meet at school and of course nothing goes right…because it’s high school of course.
Miss Brooks brings the teenage blooming and lets us look inside Hilary’s life as she works through high school and how she manages to get through all the crazy hormones. Luckily, she has a best friend to help through the angst of high school.
Grayson comes around and everything changes for Hilary. He helps her realize that your life doesn’t need to be planned within an inch and sometimes, life comes along with different plans.
This was a sweet lovely read and I believe that anyone who is interested in YA books will really enjoy this story.
I have to say I love when an author chooses to write in different genres. It proves they can write out of the standardized box they get placed in. I enjoyed this book from start to finish. I got lost in the writing and was able to connect with these characters as we have all been there for the teenage years. I could see myself in Hilary and how she thought she had everything planned out. Then she meets Grayson and realizes that life can’t be planned you just have to experience it as it happens and go from there. Grayson is the token bad boy but we soon realize that he hides behind a mask of his own making. I don’t want to give too much away but will say if you love YA than this is one book you don’t want to miss.
I loved this YA book by Belle Brooks. The story was so easy to get lost into!!!! I felt like I was inside the book!!!! I loved the characters too!!!! You definitely need to read this book!!!!!
Miss Not Together, is a story about Hilary, a girl on the brink on becoming a woman.
She is a young goodt two-shoes girl, her mind on her school and future. She’s not like other teenage girls, running after boys. Until, she gets a new neighbor, Grayson.
Miss Not Together is well written. I liked the story, but I had some difficulties connecting with the characters.
First off I have to say that this is the first YA book I have read in a long time. I have been stuck in THe MC world and dark reads so this book was refreshing for me and brought me back to highs chool and all the drama that comes with being in high school. All the things you go through with friends, enemies, and school work. Just trying to graduate is like walking in a mine field.
Hilary has it all including a best friend Freddy who I have a friend like that.Down to do whatever whenever, wherever. Everything is going as planned in Hilary’s world until her world is turned upside down by her next door neighbor who is the new kid in school that is a badarse and every girl wants him. He has the looks, the walk and the talk of a bad boy and the girls are all scrambling to be with him.
Then him and Hilary share a kiss and her life crumbles to ashes just like that. Her life as she knew it has changed and she has no idea what to do but she has Freddy there to guide her through and when she lets go of the reigns she holds so tight her life will be what it should be. This is a great read a one click book that will keep you riveted until the end.
Oh I wanted to love this one I did but for me the story fell a bit flat. I adore Brooks and have loved every book she’s put out aside from this one. I felt that the story was lacking something. I wanted to see Hillary find herself just a bit more.
I had extreme hatred towards Hillary’s mom. She drove me crazy. I could not stand how she treated her family. Her husband. Her daughter. She was such an awful person.
I adored Grayson and Tray so much. And I loved the relationship developments between them along with Hillary.
The grammar was spot on.
I just honestly did not enjoy this one but plan to still read Brooks.
In her latest release, Miss Not Together, Brooks tackles the harsh realities of turning from girl to woman, innocence to maturity, and young love’s confusion into a sweet tale of growth and admiration for the human condition. In Hilary and Grayson she knocks out each end of the teen growth cycle. One paved in innocence and buried in her school to work to avoid growing up, while the other faces survival after tragedy and despair to keep his family going. Grayson is by no means the boy from the wrong side of the tracks, but circumstances leave him in a place where protecting what’s sacred for his family leaves him in a bind.
Hilary unravels through the leap from childhood to adulthood as she deals with her own feelings about her parents, her school, her peers, and her new frenemy relationship with Grayson. Brooks tackles these issues with a dash of humor, a splash of tears, and a pinch of realism which truly suits the genre. Bravo on a job well done with the YA genre and the issues which keep teens not so together!
Miss Not Together
Hilary has her life in order, got it altogether and plans for her future made with her best friend Freddy. That is until hot as sin Grayson moves in next door – the bad boy smart arse who turns everything for Hilary upside down and back to front.
Miss Not Together by Ms Brooks is delightful, sweet and hugely funny. There are exceptional one liners. The storyline was totally relatable and felt reminiscent of my own youth which gave me a wonderful sense of nostalgia, making it that much more enjoyable.
Highly entertaining read. So worthy
I love love love this book! Usually we get a real good tear jerker from Belle but this time around it was more of the refreshing, coming of age story that I needed to read. Hillary is fantastic and such a good girl till Grayson comes along. I think we all had (or at least thought we’d have) our own “grayson” in the younger years. He is the epitome of everything she doesn’t need and everything she can’t help but want. Little Miss goes through all the same feelings and rollercoasters I felt as a teen. And for the record Belle writes THE BEST BFF’s EVER! Freddy is all the things! This is one I can’t wait for my daughter to enjoy as much as I did!
This was a great YA book about firsts. First kisses, first loves, first time getting in trouble lol.
Hilary has dreams of running the world. Grayson is not meant to be apart of that dream. When the bad boy breaks down her walls, the two of them find they might actually like each other.
This was a great YA book.
Hilary and Grayson meet at school and take an instant dislike to each other. This is a well written story about growing up and young love, which is a gripping read, and filled with humour, angst, unique twists, fun, sarcasm, witty banter, and is an all round sweet, entertaining read. I was totally enthralled throughout this page turner, and I cannot wait to read more form this talented author, whose work I highly recommend for all.
Opposites do attract!! With Belle’s new book you will find that out. Straight A student makes some mistakes, but hey…… we all do sometimes. This book will put your heart at ease and will help you believe that we can all find the good in anyone!!
I enjoyed this story. But about half way it seemed to get rushed. Although the ending was cute and funny, I wish there was more to it.
I liked the realism of Miss Not Together. Grayson is swoon worthy. Hilary is about to have her world rocked. Find out what happens to Miss NOt Together.
Miss Not Together by Belle Brooks
***High school life, drama, friendship and love ***
Hillary Watts is a straight laced seventeen year old perfect student, daughter, friend, swimmer and goofball nerd. She is even on the committee for the senior formal that she isn’t even planning on attending. She has her life planned out step by step until a new smokin’ hot guy shows up at school and throws her life into a hormonal tailspin. Grayson Dymicks recently moved to town with his father and brother Tray. The guys all want to be his friend and the girls are all swooning at his feet even Hillary, unfortunately he is determined to treat her like crap. Then she discovers not only can she not escape him at school but she can’t at home either because he moved in next door. As much as she wants to dislike him her body keeps having a different reaction. After a series of events she discovers there’s more to him than meets the eye.
I adore her relationship with her bestfriend Freddy and how they support and keep each other grounded. Everyone deserves a friend like that.
Hillary and her father’s relationship was beyond beautiful. Her mother ugh Not my favorite. I found her disconnected, gruff, self absorbed.
Tray was a wonderful surprise I loved his interaction with his brother Grayson and even Hillary. The brothers were night and day, yin and yang. I would love to see a future book for Tray. (Hint Hint)
Oh and Amber so much I’d like to know about her and Grayson and that extra t-shirt!
“You’re like a sheet of thin glass, Hilary – transparent and easily breakable. You just don’t know it yet.”
Miss Not Together is a funny, promising little novella. It made me smile a lot and I love the way Belle Brooks reminds us of how it feels like going through this teenage-phase becoming slowly an adult. However, like my issue with almost every novella, I wished for more insights on certain levels. But overall the writing and the pace of the story fits here perfectly.
“Don’t argue. It’s annoying.” “Like you,” I teased. “I’ve got nothing on you, Miss Goody Two Shoes turned rebel child.”
I really like Hilary. She’s a quirky teenager with a firm mindset on her future and works hard for it. Belle Brooks did a lovely job creating her character. If you follow this author around her social networks, you know what a quirky funny person she is. So I can’t shake the impression she put some of herself into Hilary.
Grayson, the new neighbor, the bad boy, the jerk. The perfect counterpart to Hilary’s Goody Two Shoes lifestyle. He worms his way into her heart, helping her to open up to life, to let loose a little, to take a deep breath and that giving love a chance is worth the risk.
“He’s not the right boy for a girl like me, and I’m not the right girl for a boy like him. How could we be?
If you are looking for a quick and funny distraction from real life, if you want a ride back into your teenage years, getting a reminder of how it feels being drunk for the first time and being drunk of love for the very first time, Miss Not Together is totally the book you should go for!
