I read this as part of the Network Series Collection. so I will copy that review here also. The stories had me spellbound from beginning to end. Bianca with her inherited curse. Friends she makes. An evil teacher. Danger. Death. Powers. A dangerous enemy. A gorgeous Protector. A love between father and daughter. A kidnapping. More death and a …
This is not a cozy fantasy read (as the cover implied to me!) But it’s good fantasy, leaning towards dark fantasy. I enjoyed the characters, the magic system and the plot. It’s a bit too dark for my tastes, but wouldn’t bother the average fantasy reader at all. Good story.
Very well written book, I really enjoyed reading this novel.Real hard to put down to do things around the house
I really enjoyed this book and went on to get more books from this author! Ya gotta love witches and dragons!!!
Loved the characters and plot twists.
Sixteen year old Bianca lives in a medieval world. But she has some powers, so she needs to get educated. Off she goes to Miss Mabel’s, leaving her mother and grandmother behind. But Miss Mabel’s is not what you think it is. On Bianca’s first night, a contest to become Miss Mabel’s assistant is announced, primarily for third years, and asks for …
A very impressive story. Always the good, the bad, and the ugly and Bianca was just trying to get a curse taken off her family. With a contest coming up with using magic, Bianca had to be her best and win then Miss Mabel, the head of the school would help her get the hex off the family. Well, she won and started training with Miss Mabel but the …
Cursed before she was born!
Bianca has trained since she was a child for this day. She must be accepted into Miss Mabel’s School for Girls, a Network school for young witches. Her family is depending on her to succeed and before she turns seventeen, she will bargain with evil for her future.
This is an amazing book! Intriguing, riveting, and …
I LOVED this book!
There is great world-building, but, unlike a lot of books’ world-building, you jump right into the action and the world unfolds around you. This book is full of surprises that make you want to keep reading without stopping until it is done. Then, you will want to jump right into the next one!
Bianca, the main character, …
After the first part I thought good interesting witch book then it turned into a very unhealthy story. I wanted a good witch school ,fun friendly. Any suggestions ?
I cannot give the formidable Katie any more praise! She is SUCH an amazing person and her books kick so much A$S!! I recommend every single thing she has written. Seriously. Her short stories keep me going in between the wonderful worlds she creates. Always waiting for anything new By Katie!! <3
I was very pleasantly surprised by this book, having seen some of the negative reviews. I feel the book is well written with good character development. I enjoyed escaping into the magical world.
It is a rare thing to find a series of books for Young Adult readers that ticks all your favourite boxes: mystery and magic underscored with macabre and gothic elements, strong female characters, quirky twists, and themes and ideas that are universally compelling and interesting for teen and adult readers alike.
Just as it exists in the …
This does seem to be similar to Harry Potter, but is definitely the poor cousin. The author tries to build a world different from “our” world, but that world is not explained or is buried too late in the story/ What was in the author’s head didn’t come through on the paper. There were inconsistencies for the magic (if you can make the food float …
This series is addictive. I would go from final paragraph to buying the next book, then the next!
I couldn’t put this book down once i started it and i had to get the whole series
This book started fairly strong but dragged a bit in the middle. I found the ending abrupt.
Read the next installment to find out what happens. Sorry, this gets tiresome. Not bad, but not great. I think it would be a great read for YA young women.
Loved this book! Had to get the second one right away. It was like a female version of Harry Potter. I like how the next book picked up right where the first one ended, so there was no time lapse between the books like most series. Great writing, I am a hard one to please and keep focused if the story wavers.
Enjoyable with many interesting characters. The main character’s internal debates add interest to the story.
