Welcome to Nocturne Falls, the town that celebrates Halloween 365 days a year.Jayne Frost is a lot of things. Winter elf, Jack Frost’s daughter, Santa Claus’s niece, heir to the Winter Throne and now…private investigator. Sort of.When the Sandman comes to Santa’s Workshop, the shop Jayne manages, to do his first ever book signing, it’s a major event. He’s kind of a supernatural celebrity and … supernatural celebrity and she needs to keep him happy.
All is well until trouble shows up at the party thrown in his honor. Trouble in the form of Luna Nyx, the Mistress of Nightmares and his creepy counterpart. The Sandman’s assistant says Luna is dangerous, and Jayne believes it when her dreams turn dark.
Can Jayne keep the Sandman safe from this gothic goddess? Or will Luna’s threats put them both to sleep for good?

I just finished Miss Frost Saves The Sandman. Jayne Frost’s third book is once again set in Nocturne Falls, an unusual southern town filled with supernatural characters. The Sandman has written a book guaranteed to put children to sleep and he comes to Jayne’s store for a reading and book signing! Everything seems to be going well when his ex-wife shows up to “support” him and the trouble begins. As is usual for Painter’s stories, the plot takes an unexpected twist (at least, I never see it coming!) before the happy ending. Much of the charm in the Miss Frost books and the Nocturne Falls series comes from the character crossover between the two and wondering who will show up next: an ogre, a dragon, a mermaid? I enjoy these books SO MUCH and I think you will, too!
3 stars – I liked it
When the Sandman comes to Santa’s Workshop to do his first ever book signing, Jayne does everything she can for it to be perfect. But when Luna Nyx, the Mistress of Nightmares, and Sandman’s ex-wife, shows up things start going wrong.
Another eventful adventure for Jayne Frost! While I enjoyed this one, it was easy to figure out who the bad guy was. Tempest, aka the Sandman, was an interesting and unique figure, and so was his wife. I kind of wish there was a short story with just Tempest and Luna because I think it would be fascinating to learn more about them and their abilities.
There is only a little progression with Jayne’s relationship with Cooper and Greyson in this book. Mostly they are just very helpful with tracking down leads and supporting Jayne, which while I still enjoyed, I was hoping for more.
The next book looks to be interesting, especially since this one ends with a surprise appearance from an old friend. I really can’t wait for her parents to come to Nocturne Falls though because I really want to know more about Jack Frost.
Love the town. The characters are so awesome.
This book is hilarious. I love the whole series, but the fact that the Sandman is always wearing elaborate pajamas and is a diva… I don’t know where the author comes up with these things. So funny — and FUN!
I love the Jayne Frost series. The daughter of Jack Frost who solves mysteries in the town of Nocturne Falls. The book is whimsical and fun.
These books are all great. Love them.
I’m really liking this series. Jayne is the type of character you’d love to be friends with and as usual the world building in Painter’s books is always a ton of fun. We meet some very interesting new characters in this book that I hope we get to see more of. The love triangle thing is kind of weird but at least there was an indication the guys aren’t completely cool with it at the end (I just can’t suspend belief far enough to think two guys who aren’t seeing anyone else are completely cool with the same girl seeing both of them) and hopefully it’s something that does get resolved as we continue on. I really don’t want to get sucked into another Stephanie Plum/Ranger/Morelli/endless saga situation in another series. Fortunately the mysteries are like 90% of the story in the books in this series so the triangle isn’t as intrusive as in other series. Speaking of the mystery, I thought it was really good in this one, even better than the last two. I highly recommend this series as well as the Nocturne Falls series.
