Welcome to Nocturne Falls, the town that celebrates Halloween 365 days a year.Jayne Frost is a lot of things. Winter elf, Jack Frost’s daughter, Santa Claus’s niece, heir to the Winter Throne and now…private investigator. Sort of.Christmas is over, the new year has begun, and life is thankfully slowing down for Jayne, giving her more time to chill with her new guy. That is, until Myra … until Myra Grimshaw’s death reveals the elderly fae had a strange obsession with Jayne’s royal family and an unauthorized collection of exclusive winter elf objects. Including one very questionable snow globe.
Then a whiteout of magical proportions snows the town in and unraveling the mystery of Myra and the objects becomes job number one. Especially when Jayne suspects one of those objects is behind the dangerous creatures now roaming the town’s streets.
Things take a chilling turn when one of Jayne’s dearest friends is kidnapped and rescuing her means cracking the secrets of Myra’s past. But when Jayne discovers blood really is thicker than water, her own life is suddenly on thin ice. Can she save the town and her crown?

4 stars – It was really good
When Jayne gets a call to visit a recently deceased fae’s house, she finds an obsessive collection about Jayne’s royal family, including unauthorized objects from the NP. When an unnatural winter storm hits Nocturne Falls, Jayne must work with the town to stop the dangerous creatures behind it.
This book was so much fun! It presents a small taste of one of the North Pole’s worse creatures, the Yeti. This adventure also gives us more Santa Clause, Jack Frost, and reindeer which was wonderful and I can’t get enough of it.
My favorite part of this story was watching Jayne and Sinclair work together to fix the problem. I really love Sinclair. He gets better with every book it seems. He is one of my favorite heroes, especially since he is so supportive of Jayne.
I can’t wait to reread the next book because it is set in the North Pole. I have been dying to see what the NP is like and how they will react to Sinclair.
ARC – I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest!
As soon as I got the book, I just started reading.
Once I started reading, I could not put it down. So good!
Jayne Frost series are the best. ( Sames as the Nocturne Falls Series )
When Jayne is called to Myra Grinshaw’s house, she does not know what to think.
Why would the sheriff call her ?
Once she gets to the basement + sees the secret cabinet, it is clear to her.
Myra had an unauthorized collection of winter elf objects.
She also had clippings concerning Jayne’s royal family.
She even had a magical snow globe.
Why would Myra have all of this things?
Now the plot thickens.
Oh no ! Someone broke the magical snow globe, an a portal open between Nocturne Falls and the Norht Pole.
What is Jayne to do?
She will have to find a way to close the portal + send the yetis back to the North Pole.
I loved that we got to see the whole gang again.
This job was to big just for Jayne herself.
I don’t want to say too much, but you have to read this book.
There are 2 characters that I have been waiting to show up on Nocturne Falls, and they do show up.
Even though it was just for a quick stop, it was still worht it.
I hope that they do come back to Nocturne Falls for a longer visit.
Once again, I loved the storytelling, the storyline, + the characters.
I loved this. The yetis being little stinky blue-furred monsters was hilarious and I love Sinclair. I liked Greyson best out of Cooper and Greyson, but Sinclair is just the perfect match for Jayne. His mythology is pretty freaking cool too. I love that we get to really see him use his gift in this one.
All the Nocturne falls have been great reading material, I have more books to read and rate I just haven’t got to them yet
Once again, Kristen Painter comes through with a fun, interesting story. The characters are likeable, the story is well written, and the book is well edited. I rarely find any mistakes in her books. You can read this as a stand-alone, but I strongly recommend the Nocturne Falls series first, then the Jayne Frost books. That way you’ll get to know the characters involved. I’ve read them all and am looking forward to Ms. Painter’s next book.
I have read the entire series so far and will wait for the next one to come next.
DELIGHTFULLY ENTERTAINING !!!
Title: Miss Frost Braves The Blizzard
Series: Jayne Frost (A Nocturne Falls Mystery)
Author: Kristen Painter
Designation: Book 5 of Series, Cozy Paranormal Mystery, Standalone Novel, NO Cliffhanger
My Rating: FIVE DELIGHTFULLY ENTERTAINING STARS*****
I fell head over heels for Kristin Painter’s work several years ago after reading The Vampire’s Mail Order Bride, the first book of her Nocturne Falls Paranormal Romance Series and have since devoured every single book of the series. My preferences in literature are quite eclectic, encompassing almost every genre but cozy mysteries, especially when they include a little romance, have been one of my favorite subgenres for more years than I care to admit. So naturally, when I heard Painter was introducing a spinoff series which would be more supernatural cozy mystery, I could hardly wait to get it in my hot little hands and Painter did not disappoint. Don’t get me wrong, there is a light sprinkling of romance in each story, but unlike the Nocturne Falls Series featuring a different Nocturne Falls couple finding romance in each book, the Jayne Frost Series features primarily mystery and well…Jayne Frost, winter elf extraordinaire who just happens to be the daughter of Jack Frost and the niece of Santa Claus, making her the Winter Princess and heir to the Winter Throne. She’s also the newest resident of Nocturne Falls now that she’s accepted the permanent position as manager of Santa’s Workshop Toy Store in Nocturne Falls, Georgia. Oh, and I forgot to mention that she’s also an amateur sleuth…an investigator of sorts – kinda. After reading the first release, Miss Frost Solves A Cold, I was immediately hooked and have read every single book in the series and loved them all. They totally blew me away! (Get it? Blew me away as in winter storm? I know…a terrible pun.) But let’s talk about this story! Miss Frost Braves The Blizzard is a well-crafted, fast-paced, easy-to-follow whodunit with paranormal/fantasy elements which can be read as a standalone. But why would you want to when they’re all so great?!? They’re like potato chips; once you try one, you can’t stop until you’ve devoured them all! lol… It’s also cute, exciting, original, imaginative, and extremely clever with a completely unique twist on cozy mysteries and filled to the brim with a plethora of supernatural beings, snappy banter, delicious humor, a little sweet romance and of course, mystery and suspense. The narrative is beautifully written with a first-person perspective from none other than Jayne Frost, Winter Princess, and daughter of the Winter King, Jack Frost. The dialogue is smart, snappy, humorous, and flows effortlessly. Painter is an exceptionally gifted storyteller who excels at creating imaginative, vividly detailed worlds, then populating them with an endearing cast of captivating characters that literally explode from the pages of her books. They take on a life of their own, capturing your imagination as well as your heart. Which brings me to another thing I truly enjoy about Painter’s books. Her characters cross over between the Nocturne Falls and Jayne Frost series. If you have a favorite character, or characters, from her Nocturne Falls series, you’re more than likely to also find them in the Jayne Frost series. Did I like this book? No, I LOVED it! Would I recommend it? You bet and I am, for all ages and anyone who loves a sweet little cozy mystery with a smidge of light romance! Will I read this author again? Absolutely! Just as soon as she releases her next book! Was I entertained? Completely! Sounds like a five star read to me!
Premise: For all you folks who haven’t heard of Nocturne Falls, it’s a fictional town in Georgia which celebrates Halloween 365 days a year and they celebrate it big time since it’s the town’s main source of income. Yup, tourists flock to Nocturne Falls where the streets are populated every single day with all manner of supernatural creatures dressed as gargoyles, vampires, witches, elves, genies, werewolves, valkyries, and anything else your mind can imagine. Except they aren’t just dressed as these creatures…..they actually are these creatures, and they’re hiding in plain sight of the entire world. Oh my! And they not only live in Nocturne Falls, they make their living by owning businesses which cater to the human tourists. But how could you not love it with haunts (sorry, another bad pun) like the I Scream Shop(ice cream shop), Hallowed Bean, Howlers Bar & Grill, The Poison Apple(pub), Illusions, Insomnia(nightclub), Ever After(bridal shop), Big Daddy Bones(barbecue & ribs joint), Mummy’s Diner, The Gingerbread Inn, Delaney’s Delectables, The Black Rose D & B (*snicker* a Dead and Breakfast rather than a Bed and Breakfast *giggle*), a newspaper called The Tombstone, Zombie’s Donuts, and Santa’s Workshop. Santa’s Workshop??? How did that one get into the Halloween themed Nocturne Falls? Well, every town needs a toy store, right? And this store is only one of many located around the world owned by none other than the fat man in the red suit. That’s right! The chain of toy stores is owned by Kris Kringle, aka Santa Claus, and is overseen by Santa’s right-hand man, the Winter King Jack Frost, who just happens to also be his brother-in-law. Yup, family business and all that. I would love to live in Nocturne Falls!
After the Christmas rush at Santa’s Workshop and a short visit with her family at the North Pole, winter elf Jayne Frost is more than ready for life to slow down, especially after the fiasco with her old frenemy Lark Bramble at the Black and Orange Halloween Ball. Thankfully, Lark’s crime was exposed, Juniper was exonerated, and Jayne saved the day again by recovering the stolen jewels. It’s been a rough few months, considering she was dumped again, sorta, by both Greyson and Cooper. But never fear, there’s another new hot hunk in Jayne’s life! It may be a chilly January in Nocturne Falls but Jayne’s love life certainly seems to be heating up with Sinclair ‘Sin’ Crowe, handsome necromancer and owner of Zombie Donuts. Yup, it looks like a match made in heaven for Jayne and Sin, and their cats Spider and Sugar! Unfortunately for Jayne, Nocturne Falls is about to get a whole lot colder, as in North Pole cold, which suspiciously coincides with the death of elderly fae resident, Myra Grimshaw. Sheriff Merrow contacts Jayne when a stash of newspaper clippings about her Royal family are discovered in Myra’s basement along with several items no one outside Winter Royalty should possess. But why would the elderly fae have these things and how did she get them? Never fear, Jayne’s on the case, but if she wants to save Nocturne Falls, she’ll have to solve this mystery and quick. This time it will take all the supernaturals from Nocturne Falls as well as reinforcements from the North Pole working together to save the day. But will it be in time the save the lives of Jayne’s friends? We’ll see!
