I loved this book!
My favorite character in this wasn’t the humans, though,it was the little dog Peaches!
I immediately decided that this is my favorite book from Annabelle Anders! Not thst I haven’t enjoyed others I’ve read , but this one just seemed to resinate with things that we as human beings can relate to even today in modern day .
Go, Peaches!!!( and those other furry friends we love in book or real life)
Love it , Annabelle!
* THIS was a ARC book and this is my opinion freely give * Annabelle Anders
Sometimes your first kiss may be the one that holds your heart forever. You just may not realize it at the time. When Madame Zeta, the fortune teller told her “Your first kiss holds the answer to all you desire,” Miss Matilda Fortune could only laugh and tell her her sweet dog Peaches it was just foolishness. But was it fate or was the fortune coming true as she met two young twins and their father, yes, the same one who she had never forgotten, who had given her that kiss! She could only marvel that Jasper Talbort, the Earl of Willoughby was back in her life.
The gifted Annabelle Anders has written an exceptional story that will make you feel that love and happiness can happen and in the most unexpected way. I felt so invested in Tilda and Jasper and the feelings truly came right off the page. He is a widow with twin girls, Eloise and Althea, who are both having a hard time emotionally, but when Tilda and little Peaches step in, it is truly a miracle. Tilda becomes their governess, but there is evil lurking nearby and all is not as it appears.
I wish I could put in words how much this story captured my heart, but it would involve telling the entire story (yes I have highlighted numerous passages on my kindle!). A beautiful, emotional and yes, sweetly heated love story that brings a family together, that I will not soon forget. Derserving of much more than 5 stars. To infinity and beyond!
Annabelle Anders writes the most charming stories and Miss Fortunes’s First Kiss is included as being so charming. This regency story is a must read. Annabelle has a great gift for writing and her descriptions so very visual. What I like most about this story is that it included a dog named Peaches and she helps a little girl come out of her shell. This story also has understanding, caring, death, an evil mother, a first kiss from a long time ago, twins, guilt, a fortuneteller and love. I highly recommend you read this book, you won’t be disappointed.
***This book was gifted to me and I am voluntarily reviewing.
I love a story of past love and fate bringing them back together again. Neither one knew how those palm readings were going to change their lives or how much that change was needed. Fate had been at play for years getting them ready for when the time was right and they needed each other the most.
His daughters were the most precious things and needed to be protected from evil in their own home. I was holding my breath when that evil did the last attempt at taking control. I didn’t want this story to end.
Tilde is no ordinary governess and she sees people for who they really are. I loved her from the start because she wasn’t like most ladies and didn’t hold back her thoughts with anyone.
Jasper was lost after his wife’s death, but he knew he needed a special governess for his daughters. She opened his eyes to what was going on in his house and opened his heart again.
Copy provided for an honest and voluntary review.
Would you have your fortune told? Would you believe what you were told?
“Your first kiss holds the answer to all that you desire.” “The secret to finding your future lies in the fortune you lost in your past” Two fortunes that have the power to change four lives forever in this exceptional story from the talented Annabelle Anders. The harried earl, the whirlwind twin and her meek sister to the evil grandmother (I have never had such a visceral hatred for a character) to the governess who is wise beyond her years – Ms. Anders has the amazing writing talent to make the reader feel each and every character. As I mentioned, I have never had such a visceral hatred for a character; add in the whirlwind twin and I can see why the earl is so harried – I was exhausted after the twins’ escapades. My heart went out to the meek twin and hurt right along with her. Then we have the practical, giving governess who puts her charges above all else, even her own happiness. Just the type of governess you would want for your children and in your life. Her unselfishness broke my heart towards the end along with wanting to smack her to realized what was really going on. Let’s not forget the unforgettable Peaches, the link to helping a little lost girl find her way back.
A 10 star, 5 hankie, MUST READ!
An Earl and a governess get a second chance when they meet again after their first kiss eleven years before. A fortune teller, a dog and two little girls, plus this huge physical attraction and love, bring them together as a family, unless the monster destroys it all. One smart governess wins over one clueless Earl, who takes awhile to figure it out. Delightful read.
Amazing story of love found and lost and found again eleven years later. I was unable to but the book down. Another great book by Annabelle Anders!
Eleven years ago two meet and kiss and he promised her to visit her but it didn’t work that way and they move on and years later they meet again when she meets the twins at a village fair after being told by a Fortune Teller that her first kiss will lead to her happiness.
This is the story of Jasper and Tilde and what a romantic story this was. It was a quick read and had me hooked from page one. This is a second chance story with delightful characters including a lovely set of little girls who are twins. Tilde has the biggest heart and Jasper is such a loving father. Of course, it has the wicked witch to help make this a true fairy tale. You just have to love the way Ms Anders has with words and how she expresses the emotion on the page. I truly enjoy reading all her books and this one is no different. It has some mild sex and this reviewed skipped it as usual and it didn’t affect my enjoyment of this book. I received this as an ARC and was very happy to review.
Miss Fortune’s First Kiss by Annabelle Anders. This is such a beautifully moving story of a young couples powerful first meeting and the unfortunate fate and circumstances that separated them for eleven years until fate stepped in once again. I loved this creative emotional story with its complex and lovable characters, devious plots, and steamy romance. This historical is too sweet to miss!
Happy Reading!
This is the second book I have read by this Author, and I think I am now obsessed with Annabelle Anders books and writing style. After reading them, I am happy and to me that is a good reaction to a book. This book is about Tilde, who is a Governess and Jasper, who is a widow with two daughters. Jasper and Tilde shared a kiss one evening together around 11 years ago and never saw each other again, until now. Along on their journey are Jaspers twin daughters, Eloise and Althea and Tilde’s dog Peaches. The only problem I had with this book is, I wanted more, I wanted to read about this new families life and love for each other, I did not want it to end.
This author writes from the heart and it shows in all of her books. This story is no exception and it will leave you feeling so many emotions. I must also say….everyone should have a Peaches in their life!!!!
Miss Fortune’s First Kiss involves a governess, an earl, darling twin girls, the beloved Peaches and an evil mother who will make you want to smack her!! lol Parts of the story will make you giggle, other parts will make you swoon and other parts will break your heart but put them all together and you get a brilliant story.
Thank you, Annabelle Anders, for writing such heartfelt stories and we, the readers, are so very blessed to have an author like you in our lives.
I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Great Hero & Heroine, and Loved the Twins and Peaches
It began long ago with a meeting and a single kiss. Then years later, Madam Zeta predicts something lost in their past could lead to a promising future. An Earl, a governess, two small girls, and one lovable little dog. This author has created a lovely tale around these endearing characters. One of second chances, healing, and bright hope for a future filled with love and family. Romantic and sweet, this one is a must read.
A little bit predictable but still enjoyable. A quick read that keeps you interested all the way through.
Good read.
“Miss Fortune’s First Kiss”
by Annabelle Anders July 2019
Novella- (Fortunes of Fate Book #9)
This is Matilda Fortune known as Tilde and Lord Jasper Talbot, Earl of Willoughby’s story.
When Tilde was but seventeen, she met a fellow, Jasper Talbot, at Vauxhall where she had her first kiss! She knew he was the one. But he never came to see her the next day, the day her parents were killed in a carriage accident. Now eleven years later she had just left her latest post as governess and stopped in a small village to see a fair that was going on. A gypsy fortune teller talked her into having her palm read….”Your First Kiss holds the answer to all that you desire”. At the same time Jasper Talbot had stopped at the same fair at the encouragement of his twin 5 year old daughters and had his palm read…The secret to finding your future lies in the fortune you lost in your past.”
Fate at work. He would be looking for a governess when he arrived in London and she a new position. The girls found a connection with Tilde’s dog, Peaches. Put Evil in Jasper’s house and the story begins.
Couldn’t put this lovely story down. Had to finish this story before going to bed! I liked the Earl, the precious twin girls and Peaches. Happy Reading! Reading Genie
“Throughout the course of one’s youth, a person happens upon magical moments without realizing how uniquely special they were.”
Tilde and Jasper were previously (albeit briefly) acquainted and their romance halted as quickly as it had begun. Tilde is now a governess and Jasper the single father of twin daughters. Reunited after 11 years, they have matured from their individual life experiences.
I was charmed and delighted by the main characters’ wit, internal dialogue, and ability to read the other’s trains of thought. Jasper and Tilde’s connection is refreshingly honest and they support each other with genuine compassion. I love that the banter is playful, unexpected, and fast-paced. They always seem to be on the same frequency and offer just what the other needs. As for the employer/employee relationship, both are aware and acknowledge the imbalance of power and they navigate cautiously.
More sweet than heat, this tale ended a tad too soon for me. My claws are out on behalf of those babies and I wanted more justice served to the antagonist.
4.5/5 stars
I received an ARC of this book and it is my pleasure to leave a review.
A Lovely Romance!
Miss Matilda Fortune is a governess who has a companion/dog named Peaches. Jasper Talbot, the Earl of Willoughby, is a widower who has twin daughters with very different emotional needs.
The story is rooted in the fortunes both Miss Fortune (misfortune) and Jasper are told at a fair. Where they happen upon each other 11 years after their first meeting. Their first meeting ended in a kiss. Jasper knows her but can’t pull it all together until afterwards. When they meet again in London at a ball, there is another kiss. But Jasper’s first priority is to his girls and they need a governess. Miss Fortune is in between assignments and is that governess he and his girls desperately need.
I always enjoy reading Annabelle Anders books and this one was also a delightful read. It was hard to put down once I started it and the ending left me with a feeling of contentment and happiness.
The first kiss! Maybe to be you’re last love is fated! Wonderful story! I love strong women and this author always gives great characters two little girls and a dog! A widower and a nanny with attitude. Plus a mother who is meaner then Crewella DeVille!
I could not put this book down once started I fell in love with Tilda and with her precious Peaches. Having her fortune told at the beginning was just right in how to meet her, and that her fortune had her thinking of her very first kiss! Who can remember their first kiss? Then to be instantly in love with a very sweet troubled little girl and her sister, who are twins can’t help but make you want to see how Tilda handles that. In walks the hero and what an entrance, with Tilda not believing her eyes that a “Blast from the past” her first kiss just walking towards her.
Here you glimpse a father, finally seeing his little girls with a lady at a fair and she is known but not, he’s just happy that his girls are ok and that the lady seems ok except now she’s tangled in a tent.
Annabelle has brought a couple together, or was it the gypsy or fate/kismet? Even though Tilda, in between posts, and Jasper, an Earl and father back together after 10 years was there still mystery or will there still be detours in their way?
Bringing in an controlling mother and an evil maid will they be stopped? Will realizing what his mother had done to his wife before her death change his mind and he finally has his love? I can’t help but let you guess because Annabelle will have you not just loving Jasper and Tilda but also the beautiful loving daughters of Jasper, Eloise and Althea and of course we can’t leave out the little lady Peaches. This book is part of the Fortunes of Fate series by different wonderful authors you will read one but end up like me and getting the others.
Annabelle has written many books that I love and Miss Fortunes First Kiss is another one that I love and now she has Tilda’s sisters and Jasper’s best friend (even though they were very minor character’s) I think that she might bring their stories/HEA too, one day.
Annabelle Anders does not disappoint. She has written another top rated book that just makes you want to read more of her books.
The love story between Jasper and Matilda is about second chances and it doesn’t disappoint.
She brings the romance to life. Loved how they got together 11 years later and how his daughters brought it about. Both not sure the other one recognized or remembers each other. Once I started the book I couldn’t put it down. She weaves her stories with such love that when your finished you just want to read it again. I don’t want to give to much of the story away just let me say when you read an Annabelle Anders book you will not be disappointed.
