As a rule, office romances are not at the top of my trope list, BUT….. Aubrey Bondurant does such an amazing job with the Miss series that I may have to rethink that..
I have been waiting for Teagan’s story and was so excited for it. And let me tell you, I was not disappointed in the slightest! I loved this book!.
Confidence is a funny thing…
I always thought that confidence was attached to people with good looks and money. If I only weighed 10 kgs less and had lots of money, I was convinced I’d be bouncing with confidence. I lost the 10+ kgs (but unfortunately nobody handed me a million dollars) and I’m surprised that I’m still exactly the same person. Why is it we assume that good looks with a perfect body equal confidence? Why is it we assume wealthy people are satisfied with their life because they don’t have to worry about paying bills? Good looking people can be shy and suffer from insecurity. Rich people may not have to worry about their bills now but may not be confident for their future. I think sometimes we need to look below the surface to remember that confidence is sometimes a mirage.
In Miss Belief, Teagan shows a lot of confidence on the outside. She’s tall, beautiful and seems to be comfortable in every situation. Unfortunately, Teagan grew up with a drug-addicted mother, a stint in foster care, and financial difficulties her whole life. Teagan is vulnerable when it comes to trusting others, especially men and she can’t help attaching her value to her past. Considering she is also having to strip to help her sister cover her niece’s medical bills, Teagan feels she is not good enough for the man she has crushed on for the last year … her boss.
Reid is going through a rough patch after finding his fiancé cheating on him with his brother. Deep down he knows that he’s better off without the woman who has been in his life since middle school. It takes an intervention from his admin assistant and good friend, Teagan to realise he hasn’t been happy for many years. Teagan is not afraid to call him out on his bad behaviour and forces him to take a hard look at himself to see what he really wants out of life. Getting back to a healthy lifestyle (not drinking every night) and spending quality time with Teagan has made Reid realise that his ex was bad for him … and his confidence.
Reid must attend a wedding where he knows his ex and possibly his brother will attend. Teagan and Reid come up with the brilliant plan of going together as a couple. Unfortunately, Reid knows it will be horrible but even he underestimates the extent that power and fortune hungry Mammas will go to, to gain a prosperous match. Even more unfortunate, Teagan must use her arsenal of smart, snarky, and cutting comments to keep the nasty vipers away. Reid and Teagan form an unbreakable bond against adversity. That bond … and sharing a bed, exposes feelings that neither can deny.
I really enjoyed reading Miss Belief. It’s a little mean of me to think it but I don’t mind stories that show that the beautiful and rich have doubts, insecurities and problems just like us normal people. I also get a wee bit of a thrill seeing normal people standing up to and conquering rude, arrogant and haughty individuals. Teagan in fine (snarky) form was awesome up against Reid’s ex. I took an extreme amount of pleasure seeing the ex-fiancé lose.
This series has been a winner for me, and I can’t wait for the next instalment with Tory and Chance. If you haven’t tried an Aubrey Bondurant yet, I highly recommend giving the Miss series a try.

WOW this book surprised me so much! I was glad I was able to snag it up as a freebie and this is also the first book I’ve read by Aubrey Bondurant. I have read a lot of fake dating romances lately and I have been really enjoying this trope tremendously. What made this book stand out for me was that I really loved Teagan. Her personality just really resonated with me and I think she is really funny as well. The book was a bit predictable at times, but it didn’t take away from my enjoyment at all. It just worked well for this story. The story is full of romance and lots of humor, especially recommend this book to lovers of fake dating romances.

I totally loved this story. It was filled with so much emotion. Some of it as so funny I could barely read I was laughing so hard. Then there were times full of passion, angst, heartache and fear. Loved it, loved it!
This was hilarious. I loved the back and forth jokes that was between Reid and Teagan. They just jived. You could tell underneath the attraction was a solid foundation of friendship. Their chemistry only enhanced the dynamic. Their ability to effortlessly go from a steamy moment to laughing made it real and addictive. I love dried once he had his intervention moment. He was so broken over being betrayed. Of which I felt was more over the hurt from his brother than anything else and proved to be right. I so glad we found out the truth and he was a big help at the end. He is very harsh but obviously cares for his brother. Reid and teagan were adorable together and their cute blush moments. Then they steam factor was on and you got the dominant side of him. Loved that he fought for her. Can’t wait for Tory’s book.
Teagan Larson has had a crush on her boss, Reid Maxwell, since she started with the company, but his recent breakup has him acting out of character and a total jerk to work with. Deciding he needs a wake up call Teagan call Reid out on his behavior telling him to get it together. The problem for Reid is he can’t believe the woman he figured he would always marry betrayed him in a way he doesn’t know he can come back from. Reid’s bigger problem is the wedding he is supposed to attend, knowing his ex will be there.
Teagan becomes Reid’s confidant and decides to help him out. She offers to be his pretend girlfriend for the event. In order to convince everyone they spend time together really getting to know one another. Teagan attempts to keep her attraction in check but the closer she gets to him it becomes more difficult.
Reid isn’t sure he should be using Teagan as his fake girlfriend. The whole scenario could be problematic as Reid comes from a world of wealth and snobbery and Teagan is anything but. Reid though begins to wonder if Teagan could feel more from him the closer they get. Can two opposites come together and what happens when Reid finds out the secret Teagan has been holding?
I enjoyed this quite a bit. It had a luxury aspect to the story and a Pretty Woman makeover moment in a sense that I found endearing. I liked Reid a lot, it was intriguing seeing him as the main character trying to overcome his breakup. Teagan is a strong character who I would love to sit and have coffee with, she is that fascinating. I am not sure how I stumbled upon this book but look forward to reading more from this author.
I was so excited for Reid’s story. This book took me by surprise and sucked me right in. Aubrey’s book never seem to disappoint and this one was no different. Another home-run for her.
