Have you ever wished your life could be different? Do you wish that it could have more meaning, more direction? Do you wish that your thoughts could be more than just thoughts? Feelings could be more than just love and hate and pain?Do you ever think of death coming into your life and turning it upside down? Have you ever felt so close to the edge that you weren’t sure if you could pull yourself … pull yourself back from the darkness within? Have you ever loved someone so much it felt like they changed you somehow?
These are all question at seventeen years old I asked myself every day. Through all the pain, loss, and love that someone can feel over a seventeen-year span. All of these feelings for so long really does make me wonder… how much is too much? How can I go on? Do I even want to?
My name is Cambrea Breaux, and this is my story.
My mom couldn’t care for me. My father was a worthless drunk. Where do kids like me go when we have no place? The system. or IYAS. My teenage years were supposed to be spent hanging with my friends, going out, falling in love and getting my heart broken, right? Well, that was far from what my teenage years were like.
For nearly two years I was made to do things. Things that my guardian knew better than to have me do. But he did it anyway. I saw no way out of the situation I was in, but to deal with it until I was eighteen, and free. I couldn’t wait to be on my own and away from the Traces.
And when I thought…. well, I met “him.” Everette Henston. The guy that made life worth living again.
Everette-
I had my whole world in my lap just then. I was flying high. Higher than ever before. I don’t know how or why Camie stumbled into my life, when she did, albeit, I don’t regret the first day she fell at my feet.
I didn’t feel anything for her then.
I still told myself that load of crap.
I was only going to help her out of the situation she was in. Loving her was not part of the equation. She needed too much. Feared too much. Then she loved me more than I could handle. I fell in love for the very first time with the most fascinating person I had ever met.
Then “they” came for her and Camie’s life flipped once more.
*Trigger Warning:
Misplaced is intended for ages 18+ only
This book contains explicit scenes. Also some violence, and child abuse that may be upsetting to some readers.

Holy Wow what a book!! This is my first read by this author and it certainly won’t be my last. Poor Cambrea went through so much, my heart broke for her. She went through hell at the hands of her foster brother and dad, and her foster mother turned her head at things happening in her home. I wanted to step in and help her. Then she meets that one guy, thinking she can get out and have her forever, but things are never that easy. This is such an emotional book, that’s phenomenally written, and it’s simply an incredible read.
Page-turner – Misplaced – My first book by the author, Jordan Leger, and I thoroughly enjoy it and cannot wait to start on the next book. My heart is breaking for Camie. So young. You just want to step in and fight for her. Great characters, storyline, and story building. It had me hooked. Now to begin reading book two!
This book was phenomenal!!! I went through every emotion while reading. I was sad, mad, upset, happy, crying, and needing more!! Everette is man goals! Sexy, caring, and lovable!!! I felt all the emotions for what Camie went through! Well done Jordan!! Can’t wait to read more!
Good thing I had a box of tissues next to me because this book took me on one emotional ride! The storyline was so well written with detail and depth with characters that were so well created with emotions that it has been a long time since a book has touched me and left a mark on me like this book has!
Cambrea has grown up in the foster care system, which is hard enough, but her latest placement is the worst. She survives all the traumas of physical, sexual, and psychological abuse, until she finds a way out, through her friend Everette, but soon feelings follow…
Jordan Leger has done it again! This book is such an emotional roller coaster that you will find yourself reading like it’s an addictive drug!
WOW!!! This book is INCREDIBLE!! Reading about any kind of child abuse is hard but the author does a fantastic job of writing this story. Cambrea has had a rough life. After her mother turns her over to foster care, because she’s unable to care for her, things only get worse. This book shows us that not all foster parents take kids in to love and care for them.
You will be on a rollercoaster of emotions from the beginning to the end of this book. I kept the tissues handy for this one. She’s emotionally, physically, and sexually abused and it just rips your heart out. I felt her pain and it was like I was there living this awful pain with her. She is just trying to hang in there until her 18th birthday when she can escape the hell she’s living in.
She meets Everette, a rich kid, and someone she’s attracted to. Everette is kind and promises to help and be there for her. She finally has some happiness in her life but will this last??
This book does have triggers so heed the warning! Jordan Leger does a phenomenal job of writing this book. She is so detailed and you automatically get sucked in!! I highly recommend this book and you won’t be disappointed.
5 Stars
Cambrea’s life is just sad. Rejected by her parents, living in the youth system, she’s placed with an awful family who treats her worse than a dog. On a chance meeting with a man, Cambrea’s world opens up to new experiences. Is everything too good to be true? I felt so much for Cambrea. I wept for her, got mad for her, hoped for her and was crushed for her all in one story. This story is full of twists and suspense that left me with anxiety. I love the friendship between Camie and her friends. I can’t say much more without spoiling this tale but the ending of this duet had me demanding book 2.
I absolutely loved this book It was awesome! made me cry at time because it was so good ! I couldn’t put it down !! Jordan Leger is An amazing author and I definitely will be reading more of her books !
What a wonderful conclusion to a duet! I found myself screaming at the book and also biting my nails. I was hooked to Rhett and Cami since the first book and was very glad to see how their story concluded. I am definitely looking forward to more in the future!
Cambrea’s life is anything but easy. After moving from foster home to foster home after being given up by her mother, she only wishes for a loving family. Or at least one that will be easy to tolerate for the last two years of her life in the system. When she ends up with the Traces though, she figures out real fast why they go through so many kids. This time though, she learns she isn’t alone.
There are a lot of hard topics covered in this book. That being said, I think the author did a fantastic job of adding very real feelings to the characters. There were ups and downs and when Cambrea was ready to give up, I mentally screamed at her to keep going. It was very easy to connect to her and hope for the best. When she met Everette, or Rette for short, I shipped the two hard.
Very awesome book, and I’m happy to see it’s the start of a series.
This book was an emotional, gut wrenching roller coaster ride I didn’t want to get off of. It leaves you feeling emotionally drained but in a good way. You get all the feels. Mainly heartbreaking agony over how Cambrea’s current life is going with her horrible foster family. Joy, love and soul deep trust over how much Rett cares for and tries to take care of Cam to make her life better. It was devastating to see behind the curtain of some foster care systems and how they may turn a blind eye to the happenings in foster homes. This book drew me in and wouldn’t let go. I can’t wait for book two, so I can see how their story concludes. This is a must read.
This was a gripping, page turning, and heart breaking story. Cambrea was horribly mistreated by her foster parents and Rett gave her his heart and soul, protecting her like she was a rare and precious jewel. This story had my attention from start to finish with no boring parts at all. I can’t wait to find out what’s going to happen in the sequel!! Highly recommended.
There are no words to describe what this book has done to me. Heartache, devastation, loneliness, and a whole lot of sensitive subjects that put Cami thur the ringer. Rhett is going to be her saving grace. With each page a new twist comes that will turn you on your axis and leave you with feelings that make your head flip. It’s an amazing read that is full of everything you need and will have you tears towards the end. I so can’t wait for the next to see what happens. This is the second book this year has tore me up inside
OMG wow this book was amazing, it was intense, romantic, tearful all rolled into one immense read. Everett has captured my heart he is protective aswell as secretive but loves Cambrea and will do anything for her. This book kept me gripped and I so cant wait for the next book and ti find out what happens. I voluntarily read and reviewed a advanced copy arc.
This is my first book by this author and wow! I just read it in one afternoon, I literally could not put it down. I had a feeling of uneasiness while reading it, that I knew something was coming. Even when things were good, there was still that “what’s around the corner?” question going through my mind.
There was a lot of uncomfortable parts to read, topics that can be quite confrontational but I found the author wrote it in a way that wasn’t too much but still made you feel for the characters.
I went into this not knowing a thing, just based on “you should read it!!” from people I trust in suggesting books. All I can say is, you should read it! Yes, I have been quite vague in my review but that’s because I’m still processing the twists, turns and rollercoaster that is this book!
4*
Cambrea’s mother has signed her over to the state. Placed in foster homes she’s hoping to leave soon. Unfortunately her latest home isn’t all they portray it to be.
Everette meets cambrea when her school trip is at their firm.
He feels protective of her can he prove she can trust him.
Such an emotional story can’t wait for the next book “Replaced”
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
I finished this book in two days. I loved this book but hated this book. The characters was so real. I wanted to slap the family Cambria got placed with. This book has a lot of triggers of rape and abuse. Just a Warning for those who cant take it. But I loved it all. I could not put this book down. I did want to slap the author cause of the Cliffhanger. Leaving me hanging like that.
She is turned over by her mom who states she cant take care of her any longer. She goes to this family who are horrible to her. She does everything that she is told. The foster family mom takes most of her money she earns and doesnt really provide for her. She is only 17 yrs old. She wants to leave them but seems scared to do so. She meets this magnificent man who is older than her and he wants to take care of her. It was a great book. Tissues are required.
Oh wow! Very emotional read. Really pulled at the heartstrings. Not giving too much away. MUST READ and experience yourself. This is the first book I’ve read by Jordan Leger and I’m dying for book 2.
Cambrea has been in the foster system since she was 11 yrs old. Years have gone by and things haven’t been easy for her. Even though she gets visitation with her mum. She still hasn’t got anyone to look after her..
Her latest foster placement with Trace’s is the home from Hell. Her worst nightmares come to life…
Then she meets Everett…
Can Cambrea escape?
Is Everett her saviour?
Jordan Leger once again brings us an intriguing thought-provoking new series! Cambrea is 16 and has been in and out of foster homes since she was 11. She still visits her biological mother, but she signed over her rights and Cambrea did not understand why! She is sent from one caring foster home to another, the Traces. She believes everything is alright at first, and then comes the horrid truth! She is in a nightmare with no escape! The things the young innocent beauty experiences will bring about anger, frustration, and even some tears. She meets Everett on a field trip, and he is a little older than her. He is rich, sexy, nice, charming and hot! He befriends her but knows he will eventually have to have her. This is a story that takes us through two horrifying years of Cami’s life. Through that journey, love will blossom! The old saying is nothing good lasts forever…and, in this case, it is soooo true! Everett will risk ALL for Cami…..! Just know now I was hollering at the end of the book! Some will go to any lengths possible to get back what they believe is theirs…and Cami is wanted by many! Read Everett’s and Cami’s story…it is bittersweet! I cannot stand the wait for book two! I received this book as an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
