To the world at large, Marie Easton is the cliché jealous secretary, lusting after her powerful boss, James North. Behind closed doors, she’s a desperate woman, willing to do whatever it takes to protect her family from a menacing threat. She’d be unwise to let anyone in…especially the new finance director at North Enterprises, who makes her crave things she never thought to want.Callum Ashworth … want.
Callum Ashworth recognizes a disguise when he sees one. And he’s itching to strip away Marie’s mask with pleasure and pain…to reveal the true beauty concealed beneath. But taking her down a road she may not be ready to travel is dangerous. Especially if it disrupts Callum’s boring accountant façade—which hides a shocking secret of his own.

Oh my this book had me from the first page a must read by Anna Edwards
*4.5 stars*
I absolutely love this series. I am so thankful to see another side of Marie and definitely a good reminder not to judge someone without knowing their story. The backstory was so heartbreakingly beautiful.
I love how dominant Callum could be. The quote “I own you now, and that will never change,” just about melted me. Anna Edwards definitely has the amazing skills in understanding a dominant/submissive relationship.
The only reason it didn’t meet 5 stars for me is that it didn’t show as much character growth for both main leads as her previous books did. I love seeing the depth Anna Edwards creates and I just felt that some of that magic was missing.
I loved the bonus novella Loving Control with James and Amy. That had all the magic and depth I could ever want.
Highly recommend both this book and the entire series!
Misguided Control is the third book in The Control Series by Anna Edwards. It can be read as a standalone but to get a full understanding of all characters in this installment I recommend reading the series from the start.
This part gives us the story of Marie Easton and Callum Ashworth. We’ve met Marie before, she is PA to James North. Callum is the new Finance Director of North Enterprises.
It’s no secret that Marie has a thing for James North, even though he is happily married. She just wants someone to swoop in and save her from the life that she’s been left with. Marie puts on a front to the world, but that’s not who she is. She’s loving and caring and will do anything to help those that she cares about. She just needs someone to care about her enough to help her.
Callum, full time accountant part time Dom has finally got his life together, on his own, not using who his father is to help him. Trouble is, he has a secret. He doesn’t want his family to influence peoples opinions of him, he wants them to like him for him, not who he’s related to.
There is an attraction between Marie and Callum. But will their secrets keep them apart or bring them together?
I love reading Anna Edwards work. I love how fast paced the stories are but that doesn’t take away from the way the story is built and the way the characters are put across. The emotions are right there on the page and they do get you, or maybe I’m just a big softie. Read and see for yourself, you won’t be disappointed.
An air of suspense, an overhanging and unknown threat, heat, romance and alot of family love.
In spite of her outward behaviour and attitude, once I got to know Marie’s character better I found her to be quite a selfless woman. Marie is caring and loving, she was willing to take on a debt and burden that doesn’t belong to her just to protect those she loves from harm.
I liked Callum alot, his character comes to begin with, comes across as a bit weak, (still lives at home, his mum taking care of him etc.) but this is a misconception, because underneath all that is a strength and dominance that was quite becoming for his character. An air of mystery surrounds him that we gets hints about as the story pushes forward, I totally didnt see that twist coming at all!
There was a strong theme of family love in this one, and it provided a sort of balm that worked well to counter the tension after certain events in the story. Excellent and well written!
I am a fan of the Control Series by Anna Edwards and Misguided Control is no exception! I didn’t even read the blurb so I wasn’t expecting Callum and Marie at all! I didn’t know Marie had such a backstory. She hasn’t been the most likeable person in the previous books…sort of snooty and not on board with Amy and James being together, but now you get to see why. I love how Anna Edwards weaves in these complicated histories for each of her characters. It makes for excellent drama and intense reading! I won’t give away any spoilers, but Marie has been through a lot! Callum is just the person she needs and I love the banter between them! I liked how Anna wrote a little novella in this book to give us a glimpse into Amy and James’ birth of their child. So sweet! I just love those two and now I cannot wait for Matthew and Sonia’s book! I’m also hoping there will be a book for a certain sister and her husband too! Great job Anna!
This is another great book by Anna Edwards and book 3 in the series. I have to admit that I really didn’t like Marie in the first books but after reading more about her she has grown on me. I now understand her and what she’s gone through in her past. I loved the instant connection between Callum and Marie and how it built up slowly and then heats up. I love the way Callum is so protective over Marie and he wants to completely possess her. Anna Edwards really knows how to tell a story and I look forward to reading the next book in this series.
