I know rock stars. I grew up in the business, and now I make a living managing their tours. I’ve seen the good, the bad, and the ugly.
Lots and lots of ugly.
All that ugly is why I’ve sworn off dating rockers, but sleeping with them, well…I’ve been known to make the occasional exception.
One sultry night in Vegas, Mo Aronson, lead singer of Unrequited, becomes one of those exceptions. We … Unrequited, becomes one of those exceptions. We dance, we connect, we…get married.
That wasn’t in the cards. And the positive pregnancy test a few weeks later really wasn’t in the cards.
Despite the shock, I think I can handle becoming a mom. What I’m not sure I can handle is the younger, bad boy rocker who won’t back down no matter how many times I push him away.

Everything Julia Wolf writes is absolutely amazing, and we all know how much of a fan of hers I am, but I was actually a bit nervous to read this book.. only because I don’t usually like the younger man/older woman trope, but you know what? I LOVE MO. Seriously, I cannot get enough of that ginger with the superman hair. He’s easily one my favorite heroes this author has ever created, and he is mine. Sorry, ladies (And gents.)
Mo (Moses) is the lead singer of the band Unrequited. We’ve seen glimpses of him in other books, along with his sister Yael (whom NEEDS a book of her own!) But right away you see that Mo is so much more than the cliche rockstar — he may be young, but he has an old soul, and is so genuine. In the era of bully romances and over the top alpaholes it is SO freaking nice to read about a loveable, honest, vulnerable genuine man. He has so much depth to him, and despite his upbringing, he’s not jaded or bitter. He’s such a lover, and quite honestly is my favorite part of this book.
Michaela is a bad*ss tour manager, who’s older (she’s 34 to Mo’s 26) wiser, a bit guarded and a lot jaded. You don’t want to be on her bad side — especially since she can make grown men cry. #BossStatus– but underneath that heavy layer of armor of hers is a hilarious, beautiful, sassy open woman who’s desperate for something stable in her chaotic life.
Michaela and Mo have known each other for a few years now, but don’t really *know* one another.. But that all changes during a night in Vegas. They see into wash others souls, see who they both are under their facades, and have such a brilliant, powerful connection. (After all, they are each other’s burrows. *swoon.*) Their night of passion has a few outcomes that they don’t see coming, and with more than a few hurdles to work through, these two find themselves in the best kind of love.
Even though I loved this book, there are just times I wanted to shake Michaela. For someone who has yearned for the stable family (even if she didn’t realize that at first) she failed to realize that’s exactly what Mo wanted to give her. He was so in love with her, and did everything that he could to prove that to her, but she constantly kept him at arms length. I understand her reasons, but hated how she constantly threw their age gap in his face. Did he make mistakes? Of course. But he was always there, just begging for her to feel even a fraction of what he felt for her. Mo is a goshdarn unicorn, and I love him so much.
These two do overcome their issues, and once Michalea finally opens herself up to his love, I cheered so hard. I get so invested in the characters that Julia creates, and this was no exception.
This is an absolutely amazing book, one I read in one sitting, and deserves all the love. Just remember that I claimed Mo! 🙂
**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions!**
I’m a Julia Wolf virgin. Well, at least, I was, prior to my gobbling up “Misconception” in a day and a half. This is my third review post within 24 hours *gulp* but I swear, I’m still okay. LOL! I just hope I’m not repeating myself.
Thankfully, I’m reviewing books that I actually liked today. I finished “Misconception” two days ago, and it fulfilled all my guilt-ridden giddy pleasures about May-December romances. Beeteedubs, I hate the term “coug*r,” so you ain’t gonna hear it from me again here. I really enjoy the older woman-younger man theme – no sugar mommies need apply, though.
The tempo of Mo and Mic’s story was perfectly right. The accidental pregnancy, Mic and Mo’s respective reactions, Mo’s 180-degree turn (which, for a 26yo rocker, was hugely idealistic — kinda unrealistic — but ideal and totally romantic) – these all factor into why I liked my first Julia Wolf book. I researched her a bit more and found more rock star romance books. Gah! There goes my budget for the month hahaha! I’m hooked. I highly suggest you get hooked with me, too
I was so keen for Mo’s story after reading Unrequited. Mo is a rockstar through and through, he has charm like no other and he definitely knows it! I really enjoyed getting to learn piece by piece all about the man behind the rockstar.
Michaela knows rockstars and doesn’t get caught up in all the hype. She knows better than to get involved with one, as a tour manager she needs to keep her relationships with band members strictly professional.
They’re thrown together, whether they want to be or not, after a crazy night in Vegas that can’t be left behind.
What a journey Julia Wolf has taken her readers on with this one. I can’t wait to see which of the Unrequited crew we get to meet next!
Oh, Mo! How I have longed for his story. He is sweet, oh so young, and much a typical rockstar. He and Michaela started their relationship a little backwards. There is a slight age difference so watching them try to navigate their relationship while being apart was interesting, and sometimes comical. There were miscommunications and missteps. Mo made me swoon and yet sometimes I kind of wanted to slap him. They both made mistakes due to fear or past issues. I loved the lessons that they learned: about themselves and each other.
I was looking forward to reading this story and it honestly didn’t disappoint at all. I was engrossed from the beginning till the end. I loved how the story unfolded. I highly recommend this book and series.

Misconception features Mo Aronson, the lead singer of Unrequited. This is a Rockstar romance with a duo of characters who are complex, layered and flawed, an unlikely pairing who are perfect for each other.
In some ways Mo is your stereotypical Rockstar but in other ways he so much more. Whilst he’s cocky, egotistic, flirty and charming, he’s also sweet, fun and sexy. He has no trouble finding ladies to spend time with, but they only see his larger than life public persona, and not the hidden vulnerabilities that lie beneath.
His love interest is a hardworking, feisty, strong, sassy and independent woman. She’s a few years older than Mo, and having grown up and worked in the music industry she’s more than a little jaded and fiercely guards her heart after being burned in the past.
Their romance is full of ups and downs, miscommunications and mistakes, but their connection and chemistry is undeniably intense, and their story is heartfelt and felt quite realistic.
I loved seeing familiar faces throughout this title and look forward to the next Unrequited title.
As a fan of rockstar romances I can never get enough of them and from the moment I started this book I knew it would be a winner…and my oh my it was delightful! From its delicious hero to the larger than life heroine, this was a well-paced story with a charming storyline that warmed my heart. By the turn of the final page I was left with a permanent smile on my face and a hope that we’ll get another glimpse of this couple in the future.
Moses Aronson has made appearances in previous books and shown himself to be a young, cocky, arrogant rockstar with the world at his feet. He was an unrepentant ladies man, even the ladies of men he knew, and flitted from one woman to the next. The rockstar readers see here though is a more mature one, a more contemplative one who’s starting to resent all the superficiality. After an uncomfortable experience with a groupie he ends up at a dive bar where he meets a woman who will change everything that readers thought they knew about Mo and about what he thought he had to offer the world. To the outside world he seems to have it all, seems content, but behind the facade is a man full of uncertainties, a man who just wants honesty. The moment he meets Michaela, a tour manager who was part of a past tour of his, sparks fly and readers get introduced to a different side of Mo that had me falling even further in love with him. He finds an instant connection with Michaela, one he doesn’t want to end as it’s based on truth. With her readers see a man who’s uncertain of himself but willing to put himself on the line to make one night into forever. With each caring and loving word and deed Mo pulled at my heartstrings. He’s not a perfect man by any means, but he tries to always do right by Michaela. I loved watching them grow closer together, loved watching a different side to him emerge, and they ended up making beautiful music together in a journey that I never wanted to see end.
Michaela’s a strong-willed woman full of sass, with a bruised heart she keeps hidden behind a heavily erected wall. One night at a dive bar though sees that wall slowly crumbling in a journey full of intense emotions, heartfelt discoveries, and a life-altering event that kept me glued to the pages. Michaela’s a modern biracial heroine who takes no guff, is proud of the heights she’s reached in her career, and refuses to jeopardize that for some rockstar. Mo quickly shows that he’s not your typical rockstar though in a night that binds them together with ties that strengthen with each turn of the page. Her painful past with an ex further intrudes on their journey to HEA and has her doubting him when he’s done nothing to earn her distrust. There were times that she frustrated me, put Mo through the wringer because of her own doubts and fears. Despite those moments of frustration I loved these two together, was glued to their journey and the love that grew between them that warmed my heart.
I was captivated from the very start of this book, thoroughly caught up in the web of emotions this eclectic couple generated, pulled along and soaking up all the warm fuzzies along the way to HEA. It was a slow burn romance with a couple that truly had to work to find their HEA, but it was a HEA that was well-worth all the struggles. Alongside this unforgettable pair was an equally likable cast of secondary characters with Mo’s sister Yael the one character I’m most dying to know more about. I loved the caring and supportive connection between the siblings, a connection that hinted at a softer side to the seemingly self-assured rockstar. With each turn of the page I became more and more invested in this couple and by the end I felt like I had just been hugged, courtesy of Mo’s big heart that he unleashed throughout this satisfying story.
Mo finally has his book!
For readers who have read Julia Wolf’s Blue is the Color series, we first met Mo as a character in Nick and Dalia’s story.
Misconception is part of the new Unrequited series featuring the guys from the Unrequited band. Misconception absolutely can be read as a stand alone.
I like Julia Wolf’s writing style. Her prior series made me a fan of hers, and this is the book I’ve been waiting for.
Moses (Mo) and Michaela (Mic) aren’t strangers when they randomly meet up in a back town Vegas bar. Mic is a kick butt tour manager who has been in the music business her whole life. In fact, she was tour manager for Mo’s band Unrequited when they were starting their rise to fame. Mo
Is the lead singer of Unrequited.
There is a 9 year age gap between our two main characters, with Mic being the older of the two. I liked this new spin on the age gap. This gap and life experiences are the cause of a lot of the book’s tension at first. Being 34 and jaded with the music industry in general Mic enjoys a more quiet life. At 26, and at the top of his band’s fame, Mo wants to get out and live. Their relationship starts when Mic asks Mo to tell her something real. They spend a wild night in Vegas, open up to each other like they haven’t with others, get married by Elvis and then Mic pulls a runner.
By the time Mic gets the courage up to get in contact with Mo, he’s picked up a stalker, thinks Mic is her and lashes back. Relationship has crumbled.
Then, Mic realizes that she’s pregnant.
The rest of Misconception takes us through a tour of two people learning to let the other in. Watching them battle their insecurities. Seeing them work through the proper way to communicate to each other so they’re heard. Finally, at about the point where I was ready to shake Mic, they start getting it.
As I mentioned at the start, Mo was in a prior Julia Wolf book. His character at the start of his story stays true to what we knew of him from before. However, as his story really continues you learn that this 26 year old is cautious, sweet, patient, protective, and just looking for his person. Mo as a kick butt rocker was hot. Mo as a person – OMG.
I’m so glad I read this book. It reminded me of why I love Julia’s writing. It gave me an imperfect couple who were REAL. It gave me a story that I couldn’t put down. I’m looking forward to see if there will be more from the Unrequited guys.
I loved Mo and Michaela’s story together! Mo plays in a band and Michaela is a band manager. They knew each other from the past and reconnected shortly after one of Mo’s shows. Now they were bound to be together. Of course there are some misunderstandings that almost destroys them as a couple. There was a medical scare that I related to from experience. That part was hard for me to read. I recommend this book for anyone looking for a happy love story!
Misconception, the 2nd book in the Unrequited series, was my 2nd Julia Wolf novel and I enjoyed it. This story included surprise baby, younger man /older woman and rockstar romance tropes all into one engrossing read.
Mo and Michaela were two fascinating characters who were both likable and relatable and you will be invested in their story. Mo was genuinely honest and loveable and Micheala was the tough tour manager who was older and more jaded. These two had a few hurdles to work out before their HEA ending and you will be hooked from beginning to end rooting for them. Filled with lots of emotions, witty back and forth banter and steamy scenes this was a good read and I would recommend it to all lovers of age gap romances.
Wow! Never have Julia Wolf failed to wow me with her books, but this was not what I was expecting from this story. It was so good. This is an off shoot from the fantastic Blue is the Colour series. Moses, lead singer of Unrequited and Michaela a tour organiser are just the best couple, well once they get their act together. I’m not giving any more of the story away, but this is such a fantastic book full of drama and emotion. There was a lot of romance which I loved, and had me barracking for them to get it together. Julia Wolf writes such emotionally involving books, which I for one, find hard to put down once I start. Can’t recommend this series highly enough.
This was an ARC for which I am more than happy to leave my review.
Moses aka Mo decides to hit the town in Vegas after performing at a benefit. He walks into a dive bar and finds Michaela there as well. Mo and Michaela met previously when she was managing a tour for Mo’s band, Unrequited. They end up talking and enjoying one another’s company more than they thought they would. They leave the bar and go to his room where they continue to drink and spend the night together and think it is a good idea to get married. The next morning Michaela needs to leave to go on tour with another band and she leaves Mo a letter saying she will get in touch with him but doesn’t leave her number. Queue the giant misunderstanding that keeps them apart and three months later Michaela finds out she is pregnant.
I was nervous about this one. The first few chapters were awkward and I was having a hard time feeling their connection. But once the story got going I really enjoyed it and I was able to feel their connection. One of my favorite things about this book is that everything felt real. Like each one of their reactions to every situation was real, not an over the top dramatization for a romance novel. I really enjoyed that aspect of the book. Michaela was a hard as nails girl who had to prove herself in a male dominated world that just wanted to love and stability but was terrified of giving herself to it. A walking contradiction but I really liked her. Mo was such a sweet and lovable guy. I enjoyed seeing both sides to him the rocker show boat and the caring and loving husband and father to be that he was with Michaela. He just has the biggest heart and you can’t help falling in love with him. This was my first Julia Wolf book and I doubt it will be my last.
Mo is a sexy, sweet, egotistical young rockstar who is knocked off kilter by an unexpected encounter with Michaela. She is an independent, fiesty and guarded woman who learned the hard way what happens when you get involved with a rock star. But they are drawn to each other and in one crazy and intense night their world is changed forever. Can this connection last when real life crashes in with a baby? Or are their differences, including their age, too much to handle?
Michaela is a beautifully broken heroine that has to fight her fears and history to accept what could be. Mo has to step up to the plate and not rely on his charm but his heart to get what he wants. He is amazingly devoted and determined even when Michaela struggles to let him in. Their story is heartfelt, steamy, genuine and it will suck you in from page 1.
We met Mo in the Blue series as he was a young rocker, naive, sweet and building up his game. So to see this evolution of him into someone more comfortable in his skin, confident in his talents and blindsided by love is quite the journey. The determination and fight Mo discovers in himself is swoon-worthy. Michaela, has to push past their differences and learn how to love him back or push him away forever. We watch as the light of possibility dawns on her, in spite of Mo’s flaws and misguided attempts, because he absolutely has them. That’s another great thing about this book, they are both broken in their own way but those pieces fit when they figure out how to bend together. All of these pieces make their chemistry, connection and heat off the charts.
I also loved that Michaela is biracial. Yes Julia, bring on the color. She has a very eclectic background that adds spice and interest that more books need. I also enjoyed the secondary characters. I hope Yael gets a story next and I want to know what happened with her and Alex. I’m glad we got updates on other characters like Talia, Santi and Maeve. I can’t wait for the rest of this series.
One of my most favorite parts of a Julia book are the lyrics. Yes lord, the love is set to music, hear the choir sing! I love seeing a different part of the characters, story and development encapsulated in a song!! I spent a good chunk of time thinking of who I think would be a good IRL artists to bring these lyrics to life. That is how invested I was in these characters. As a reader, I cared about them. I wanted them to make it. I was rooting for them, and that is the hallmark of a great story. Great job Julia!!
I was provided an ARC for my honest review.
A heartwarming and amazing novel
Misconception gives us a rockstar romance that takes your heart on a journey of passion, desire, trepidation and mistakes. Moses and Michaela’s story is one where finding your home is jaded by misconceptions, fear and old habits. Two people who find an instant connection are bound in more ways than one but sometimes starting at the end, means backtracking to the beginning. This beautiful and heartfelt story will serenade you as it gives your heart the beat it needs and the rhythm it craves. These two will frustrate you at times but will be no less captivating and endearing. A truly heartwarming romance that has you so entranced you will feel each and every note, low and high, as they finally find their absolute truth.
Comin together in an unusual way bit it works.
This was a wonderful story of a rock star and a woman working in a music industry that usually men work in. They meet and get drunk in Vegas and wake up the next morning married! She maybe older than him but these two are amazing together! They have pasts that make them feel that it can’t happen but they prove that it can and does! I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
I really enjoyed this book! It’s about a rockstar play boy and a girl who manages bands on tour. She refuses to date anyone in the business again after her last horrible relationship and he is going to everything he can to convince her that he wants a real relationship with her. Moses knows what he wants and is going to do everything in his power to convince Michaela that there one night in Vegas wasn’t a mistake. It shows the ups and downs of there relationship. This was a great book especially if you love rockstar romance.
“How about this? No matter what happens after tonight, I’ll be your burrow. Call me, come to me, whatever, and I’ll be there. You can carry that with you, Michaela. Take a breath with me.” She stilled, her dark eyes soft and wide. “That’s funny, because I was thinking this night is the first one in a while I haven’t been aware of every molecule of oxygen entering my lungs. I’m breathing with you.”
I have received a free copy of this book for an honest review.
Michaela’s jaded from her previous marriage, getting involved with another rock star, Mo, and pretty young compared to her is even more unsettling. Add to that their marriage status after a drunken night in Vegas, that’s heavy for her to accept just yet. She doesn’t want to live through another heartbreak again, and this situation they’re in pretty much have her thinking it’s going to repeat again.
There’s just so many issues she had to deal with while also dealing with having a young rock star as a partner. With that comes the realisation of how different their lives at the moment, she doesn’t think she could trust him not to break her heart if she fell too deep. Their journey wasn’t a easy one. The twists and turns along the way will leave you wondering what’s going to happen to them.
I don’t usualy prefer a rock star romance, but I definitely recommend this one. It’s a must read!
Reverse age gap w/ a twist.
So Michaela drove me crazy at times – although she was the older one – she seems to be the one who was a little bit flighty and ungrounded. Moses knows what he wants and his immaturity shows from his frustrations and not always going after what he wants.
They were acquaintances who have an unforgettable night together that has lasting consequences. It was a little sad to see how much that night meant for Mo and not as much, at least from what she remembers, for Mic.
These two have to grow up a lot and of course, there is someone worth figuring it out for.
I didn’t get into this one as much as the first one and the strong female character wasn’t quite there for me, but an enjoyable story nonetheless.
I voluntarily requested and read an advance reader copy.
A great read! The hero, Mo, is one of my favorite characters from Nick’s book. After gaining a little insight into him and seeing how loyal and loving he is to Mik I loved him even more!
