I know rock stars. I grew up in the business, and now I make a living managing their tours. I’ve seen the good, the bad, and the ugly.
Lots and lots of ugly.
All that ugly is why I’ve sworn off dating rockers, but sleeping with them, well…I’ve been known to make the occasional exception.
One sultry night in Vegas, Mo Aronson, lead singer of Unrequited, becomes one of those exceptions. We … Unrequited, becomes one of those exceptions. We dance, we connect, we…get married.
That wasn’t in the cards. And the positive pregnancy test a few weeks later really wasn’t in the cards.
Despite the shock, I think I can handle becoming a mom. What I’m not sure I can handle is the younger, bad boy rocker who won’t back down no matter how many times I push him away.

A rock star love story with a twist! Ashley @ Carolina Chic’s Read
Mo is a rock star trying to find his way. Michaela is a strong independent women in a male dominated world of music. When these two find each other in an unusual way they connect like no other. Can these two decide to move forward and get past all the crazy that is music? I love all the characters in this book from Yeal and Ansel as the siblings who knock these two into shape. Can’t wait for next book.
In book two of her Unrequited series, Misconception, Julia Wolf brings a younger man, older woman romance that breaks down the barriers of age for a heartfelt story of love and self discovery1
Gregarious and good-natured it really was easy to underestimate Mo Aronson lead singer of Unrequited. This story really was his coming of age, his transition into his potential. No one is perfect and this work was littered with Mo’s imperfections but correspondingly it was full of Michaela’s flaws too. Their age difference definitely was a factor in the inequality of tolerance but more so for their learning curve, but out of the moments of genuine intimacy and stripped of preconceived notions emerged a touching love story.
This couple’s special connection came through loud and clear on repeat throughout this work. Insecurities, miscommunication, hormones and fear of past histories tainting their futures kept this work on high emotions and provided a steady stream of obstacles. Mo remarkably was not a flight risk or resigned to be flaky, he acknowledged his mistakes, took ownership and was better for it. As a hero he was really a diamond in the rough and in the end a priceless find. Behind Michaela’s shield of her self-sufficient persona and distinguished career reputation was a woman waiting for the opportunity to break through her doubts and take a chance at true happiness. Knowing love in nontraditional ways made Michaela’s ability to see into her heart and ultimately not walk away from a relationship with Mo a strength. How this couple handled their differences and worked on resolving their mistakes made this story impressive but more importantly approachable
Julia Wolf continues to present sensitive and personal stories with her warm and intuitive writing. This author goes to places that we can all feel as she breaks her characters down into familiar territory. Misconception brings a love story full of hope and shows the power of love for a wonderful read!
*I was given an advanced copy. All opinions expressed are my own. *
*This book can be read as a standalone.*
This is the 2nd book in this awesome series and is Mo and Michaela’s story. Mo is the lead singer of a rock band, and Michaela is a feisty and independent woman who is jaded by her past. When these two meets in a bar they are drawn to each other, but what happens in Vegas does not always stay there! This is a beautifully written tale which is an emotional roller coaster, and has witty banter, which all leads to a heartfelt, steamy, and realistic story. I was hooked throughout, and I highly recommend for all readers.
Oh, Mo, how you have grown. When we first met you in Times Like These, you were just the flirty frontman for Unrequited on that summer tour. We saw you flirt with Dalia and annoy Nick. But then again, Nick is easily annoyed, but I digress. You have continued to pop-up in the Blue is the Color series, then in the Neverlasting Duet, and now in your series. It has been amazing to see the man you have become.
Mo, you are one tender-hearted, sensitive guy. You meet up with Michela in Vegas, and it’s the right time and the right person. Unfortunately, what ensues is crossed communication and a bit of bad timing. But you persevere in the face of some obstacles to get to your girl only to get a super surprise.
What left us all slightly wobbly with the feels was how you worked so hard to do the right thing by Michaela, again with the misunderstandings. But you admitted when you were wrong and stuck in there when Michaela wanted nothing more than to run the other way. And she could be prickly. Plus, you were feeling the effects of stardom, and it’s not-so-shiny bits. It can be shallow, and what we have discovered, Mo is there’s a lot more to you than we ever knew before.
It’s been fun watching you grow from the semi-stoned young lead singer to a man who loves his girl and wants to do right by her in all ways, even if it took an off-the-hook night in Vegas to get there. By the way, you both have great taste in music.
Drunken Vegas wedding, oops baby, and rock star tropes all in the same book? SIGN ME UP!!! Misconception has everything you’ve come to expect from a Julia Wolf novel. Sexy hero, take no sh*t heroine, HOT AF sexy times, witty banter, and plenty of emotion. The age gap between Michaela and Mo might not seem like much, but anyone who’s lived it knows there’s a BIG difference where you’re at in life during your mid-30s versus your mid-20s. I think Julia captured the complications and insecurities that would naturally arise in a situation like this where the woman is the older partner in the relationship. I loved this book and I highly recommend it to all!
What a whirlwind! I wasn’t sure that I was going to survive this book because these two characters and their story swept me away and put me through an array of emotions! Rockstar romances are perhaps my favorite trope and one of the things that I absolutely love about this author is her ability to create a captivating read complete with an original storyline and unique characters who are perfectly imperfect, relatable, and full of depth. As such, each book is an engaging adventure that never leaves the reader bored.
First off, let’s talk about Mo because my heart beats for this man. Oh my sweet Moses! That hot lead singer and notorious flirt has a romantic and vulnerable side to him that I wasn’t expecting. Seriously, I adored this scrumptious rocker for all of his charisma, but I was also swooning for the gentler side of him as well. I really liked Michaela as a heroine. She is fiercely independent, hard working, and quite jaded due to some past experiences – something that I think many can identify with. It took me a little longer to connect with her character, but this strong heroine grew on me and I love how she was able to see beyond Mo’s huge stage persona.
Mo and Michaela may seem like an unlikely pair at first, but they work so well together. Their souls recognized each other with such a ferocious intensity that it was no wonder these two set my kindle aflame. Still, no relationship is easy as mistakes, miscommunications, and personal hangups greatly impacted their journey. Yet, in the end, we all want to find love and our “burrow”.
Misconception is a remarkably written, older woman-younger man romance that is sure to capture your heart and make you feel. You’ll be laughing & crying along with shaking your head & swooning during this enchanting read. This is definitely a book that you won’t want to miss out on!
Been waiting a long time for Julia Wolf’s behind the scenes look at Mo Aronson, lead singer of the hot band, Unrequited and she didn’t let me down! Lucky readers first met the mischievous young rocker in the book that began her Blue is the Color series, Times Like These, where he made quite an impression and not always for the best reasons! Mo spent alot of his spare time between shows making appearances in several of Julia’s books, while doing his best to steal other musicians women! He has a reputation as a flirty, social butterfly- fun, sweet, intense and hot as hell…supposedly all grown up now, so has he changed his cocky ways???…debatable! Mo’s charm is hard to resist and along with everyone else, he knows it!
So, how does Mo finds himself alone in a Las Vegas dive bar after a huge concert with the Blue boys? After an incident with an unbalanced fan, he needed some hassle free down time to unwind and now, a few drinks in, he’s sharing the place with a fascinating woman he knows but somehow overlooked on tours in the past. Sharing a bond with Michaela turns this weird night around and he doesn’t want to see it end. Once in a lifetime feelings, with a bit of liquid encouragement are swirling in the air and you know what they say about what happens in Vegas, baby!
Boy, oh boy, does Mo have another side that isn’t on the outside world’s radar. Everyone sees his stage persona, but not the real man behind it. What fun it was to see how Julia revealed bits and pieces of his big personality and heart to us. How loveable, but unsure of himself he was- not what you’d expect of a very eligible, sexy rock star who has people falling at his feet on any given night.
Beautiful, independent, take no $**t Michaela is not one of those silly fangirls. She’s older, a little wiser and perhaps alot jaded. She’s had plenty of experience with rockstars, but they are not welcome in her personal life. It’s a recipe for disaster, so she makes it her mission to keep things professional, always.
Moses Aronson, determined to be in it to win it, is buckled up and winging it on the ride of his life, taken by surprise by the unplanned for and unexpected woman it seems he can’t live without. Hearts may be cracked in the process, but hopefully not broken…can a forever love prevail in the end with a reluctant soulmate?
What a perfectly brilliant ending for Mo, the old soul with a young, tender heart. I knew Julia would somehow make me cry..she did.. taking him (and me!) on a winding and emotional journey to the finish, making me love this guy even more if that were possible. Whether you’ve has the pleasure of reading any of her other rockstar romances yet or not, make sure to jump on this one as soon as it releases. Mo and Michaela make some beautiful music together and their story will stay with you for a long while, just as it has with me!
What’s next for the Unrequited crew? I hope a certain entertaining pair will fight their way into Julia’s head so she’ll write about them next!!! What a story that might be.
An early copy of this book was kindly given and this is my unbiased review of it.
I love this band!!! Misconception is the 2nd book about the band, Unrequited. Mo and Michaela met on a previous tour and happen to reconnect one night in Vegas. That night changes everything!
Michaela is another bad-ass heroine from Julia Wolf. She’s strong, independent and doesn’t put up with anything from anyone. However, she’s also been hurt in the past and she tries to hold Mo at an arm’s length so she does not get hurt again. I just wanted her to let her guard down and let him in although I could understand her frustration with him at times. Underneath everything, Michaela wanted a home and I loved how Mo showed her he could be her home. I also loved her family. They were awesome!!
Mo was all in with Michaela from the moment they reconnected. He went from rockstar playboy to completely in love within the blink of an eye and it didn’t faze him a bit. I loved that. He did have to grow up a bit and think about how his lifestyle affected others. I appreciated that growth.
Mo and Michaela’s story was unexpected and perfect. There were so many twists and turns that I didn’t expect and I loved each and every one. The epilogue was amazing and I can’t wait for the next book in this series. I really want to know the story behind Yael and Murray!!!
Two acquaintances that have an instant attraction come together for a night of passion that becomes a pivot point for the rest of their lives. The story about Mo and Michaela navigate through the baggage left over from each of their dysfunctional families as each act and react to a quickie marriage, an unexpected pregnancy and, attempting to balance their rock star jobs threatens to consume them. Learning to trust and communicate as they fall in love makes for a poignant love story set against the background of rock stars, hurt, mistrust, and an unexpectant pregnancy. This an unforgettable read with a HEA.
Oh, Mo. I’ve been waiting for his story since I first met him back in the Blue is the Color series, and believe me, Julia did NOT disappoint! Mo is living the rock star life, but he’s craving more, even if he isn’t ready to settle down just yet. But then, he meets up with a familiar face in an unlikely place and everything becomes crystal clear to him. Michaela soothes his soul and tastes just like forever. The only problem is that she’s not about to get burned again.
Michaela has worked long and hard for her reputation and the respect of roadies and local stage hands alike, and she’s had time to build some serious walls (complete with moats and alligators) around her gentle heart. She’s not sure if Mo is for real, and she’s definitely afraid of letting herself believe that everything with him could be her perfect forever. So she pulls a dude move and doesn’t communicate for a while. And then when she does, her heart gets shattered. Unfortunately, Michaela is forced to reach out to the man who destroyed her soon enough. All because she may need Mo in some way for a while, if he’s of a mind to want that.
There were plenty of miscommunications and hurts between Michaela and Mo, mainly due to Michaela’s prickly heart and soul, but they finally find a way to make everything right. And what a beautiful right it is. Mo proved that he’s grown and matured so much since hitting on Nick’s girl, and he’s not willing to be the idiot who loses his forever over something so stupid as knee-jerk reactions or perceptions. As for Michaela, she finds that all she truly needed was a rock star unlike any other to make her believe in everything true.
I adored this story and have come to love this series just as much as the other works from Julia’s mind. I loved catching up with some past favorite characters and can’t wait to see who’s life is changed for the better, or how much angst and misery they cause for themselves, next!
This was a book on my list that I kept passing over, but also kept coming across on must read book lists. I am disappointed I waited so long because this book was absolutely amazing!!!! There was nothing about this book that didn’t draw me and capture my heart!
Mic and Moses were absolutely everything! The moment they got to know each other, and found a sort of kindred spirit within each other it was a sealed deal. Age did play a big factor in, and like Mic I felt that it was something different for an older woman and younger man being together….but not with these 2. I was proved 100% wrong.
This book introduced us to Mic and Moses. Moses is the leader singer of the band Unrequited and Mic is tour manager. They both happen to be in Vegas 1 night and at the same bar and things take off from there. Mic is not one to be romanced and just has one night stands, but for some reason she sees something in Moses and they begin to flirt. Many many drinks later, and ditching a bodyguard they end up at Moses’s hotel room releasing all that pent up tension.
They both felt something strong, but do not end up speaking again until a few months later after Mic learns she is pregnant. Thus begins the battle for Moses to prove they were meant to be, and Mic to figure out where they actually stand.
Moses is everything you would believe to be the opposite of a rock star, but when he finds his woman he is intent on her knowing she is it for him. He cares nothing about Mic’s age, and wants to be more than just the father of her child. The only family he truly has is sister Yael (Yael is a riot an absolute bad a**!! Great sister and friend), and while exclusivity and this family life will be new to him its what he wants.
Mic has a great family and a great life, but she lacks love. She spends most of her time on the road managing bands. She is attracted to Moses, but has trouble pin pointing her feelings. She is very fixated on the age difference, and the fact he is a Rockstar which she does not date.
Together the have a lot to overcome, and the road to the HEA they deserve is long and rocky.
There was not part of this story that was not worth it, and I highly recommend!
Um, hi. So we all know that I love Julia and all the books she writes, correct? Was there ever any doubt that I was going to fall in love with little baby Mo’s story? No. Julia just knows how to write realistic characters and situations and I just absolutely adore that about her and her books.
We got to see young baby rocker Mo grow up, not just from the books he previously appeared in, but in this single book as well. He met his match in Michaela & I loved watching them get their happily every after, however non-traditional it might of been.
I also LOVED the cameos from some of our favorite characters from previous books. It’s always wonderful to “catch up” and check in on them. 🙂 If you haven’t ever read Julia’s books, I highly suggest you start from the beginning and enjoy every single word she has written. <3
A 5 star read, loved book 1 in this series, book 2 is no different.
The story and the characters dragged me in and I was hooked.
I absolutely love rockstar romance. It is probably my favorite to return to at any given point for all the things I’m wanting to feel and live vicariously through. Julia never leaves me wanting when it comes these rockers and she certainly didn’t start here. Mo and Michaela’s story pulls a little of everything into it’s folds. Angst, secrets, trust, BWWM, age-gap, rockstar related occurrences and heart wrenching love. Start with Unrequited, come here for a new ride and return later for another adventure in this series!!
When walking into a bar to get a drink the last thing Mo expected was to run into the woman who would change his life. They met before but Michaela, eight years older than him, was a tough cookie and although part of the music scene not into hanging around musicians, not after her marriage to one ended badly. But she and Mo hit it off and after some drinks she ended up going to his hotel. Where they explored the unexpected connection between them, had more drinks and also ended up getting married, just the thing to do when you’re in Vegas, or not. The following morning Michaela started a new tour, promised him she will get in touch but he waited in vain and when it eventually happened he thought it was a crazy girl stalking him, replying with a harsh message to leave him alone. So Michaela had her beliefs about rockers confirmed and had him served with divorce papers. But then she found out she was pregnant and had to at least tell Mo, even though she believed he regretted their night together. But then she learned the truth, that he thought she was someone else and that he had no intention of just letting her go, especially not now that she is expecting his child. Will she be able to let go of her insecurities and let herself believe in being real together and a future for them? This book is full of emotion and angst, a page turner which had me hooked from the start. I received an ARC copy and am leaving a voluntary review.
Sweet story with characters worth knowing, since the beginning the author new how to get my attention, is not a complicated story but is worth your time and attention as sometimes this kind of light read is what we need, I recommend this one without hesitation, go read it and let me know what you think.
Misconception isn’t an exception when it comes to pulling you in and not letting you go until the story is complete. Even then I still can’t stop thinking about these two characters! I love that this author shows a different side to rock stars and people that work in the music business.
Mo is a character we’ve met before in the Blue is the Color series. He was a young one, but I always thought he was funny! Mo has a complicated relationship with his parents, but he’s found his own family in his band and Yael (his sister). I liked Mo even if he was a bit wild. He clearly hadn’t grown out of his wild ways, but part of him was ready to settle down. Mo made me laugh and I loved how protective he was of the people he loves. I liked that you saw him grow though, because his life was going to change and he wasn’t prepared yet.
Michaela is another really interesting character. Once again, her childhood wasn’t always easy with parents and their relationship drama. She handled it though, even if a marriage ending badly made her doubt ever being in one again. Just like Mo, Michaela had stuff to figure out. Not only having your life flipped upside down, but letting down the walls and letting herself feel. She’s an independent woman that’s made her way in the music business and is very proud of what she’s accomplished.
Mo and Michaela’s story was an emotional roller coaster with so many up and downs. Surprises they weren’t ready for, feelings being stronger than ever expected and a lot of miscommunication. I think that’s the biggest message in the book. Communication is so important in a relationship. They learned as they were going and I loved how much they both cared about the baby they were bringing in the world. The romance between these two was sweet, messy, loving, sexy and swoonworthy at times. Sometimes I did think things took a little long before they were settled and their drama went on just a bit too long. I would’ve loved a little more of them welcoming the baby and how the first few weeks went.
All in all, this was an amazing romance and Julia Wolf really did it again. Besides an amazing romance, we always get an amazing cast of side characters. Besides a few new ones, we get to see characters from previous books and I love seeing how the characters I’ve come to love are doing. I can’t wait for the next book in this series!
Misconception by Julia Wolfe is book 2 of the Unrequited series. Mo Aronson, lead singer of Unrequited and Michaela Ashwood, a tour manager will bring you drama, angst, humor, a strong chemistry and a captivating ending. It’s a fantastic story that’s going to grab you because…
We dance, we connect, we…get married. Oh my!!
You definitely need to grab this one.
I have voluntarily read and reviewed this advanced readers copy for my unbiased opinion.
Mo and Michaela’s story is fantastic from the way they met to the struggles with their childhood and how it has influenced them, the attraction still burning between them and how they deal with things going on after their hook up. I loved how Mo changed from the good times laid back young guy when we first met him to the stand up guy we see him turn into. And while Michaela is new to us you soon feel like she is family and just want things to work out for her and Mo. This is another great read in the spin off to Blue is the Color books.
What fun to get Mo’s book, I have been waiting for this one along with lots of other readers.
Boy, has Mo grown up, from being the hot flirty front man for up and coming band Unrequited. Who would have thought that he would fall in love so quickly and so hard. It happens when he meets Michaela again in a bar Vegas. Suddenly everything clicks between them and she becomes the woman he wants to spend the rest of his life with.
Michaela is not so convinced. She has worked hard to earn the respect that she has in the music world and is not about to become an accessory on the arm of another rocker, she has been there done that in the past. Also Mo is younger than her and she is worried about what people will think.
Michaela has erected high walls around her heart and her career and will not allow anyone to breach them. After Mo makes a big mistake that splits them apart he knows that he will have to work hard to win Michaela’s trust and show her that he is prepared to be a real father to their child.
All the time while reading this I was hoping that Michaela would let her guard down and let him in. Poor Mo, he was really suffering but I had to cheer him on because of all his determination, which was showed him to be way more mature than his age.
Another great story from Julia, with wonderful characters including Michaela’s fun family. Once started it was hard to put down definitely another winner.
