It annoys me when a book/novella has a complete tonal shift partway through. Mischief and Mistletoe goes from an amusing game of keep-away as Callie tries to bring their parents together, and Graham tries to stop her from interfering in their courtship to a maudlin, mopey downer. The 180-degree shift ruined it for me.
I purchased this as part of a multi author bundle called ONCE UPON A CHRISTMAS WEDDING
I like this author’s writing style and own many of her books too. I enjoyed this story and loved the spirit and spitfire of the h. At times I was disappointed in the H, he doesn’t think much of the h in the beginning. Has complete about face and takes her virginity.
Lovemaking, outside of marriage – heat level 3.5 out of 5 and only described once.
I was surprised about something the h’s mother decides without consulting her daughter’s – seemed out of character. Did enjoy the epilogue 6 months in the future. (ljb)
Stacy Read brings a wonderfully written sweet romance that is sure to melt your heart. This is a light hearted fun , engaging read you won’t want to miss at any time of year.
I loved Graham and Callie. The characters are delightful! Callie determined to help her mother find love again only the intended Robert Wynter, Earl of Deerwood’s son is just as determined to look out for his father’s best interest and the two begin to spar at complete odds with one another and then… Oh what truly delightful characters!
I love that Graham and Callie our intent upon looking after their parents happiness. I really really loved watching them fall in love amidst the mischief and mayhem. The dialogue was perfect, the banter was witty and creative. The plot and story line was fun, interesting, charming and oh so steamy. Thoroughly enjoyable!
Thank you so much Stacy for such a delightfully charming Christmas romance!
A beautifully written seasonal story
This is a beautifully written seasonal story that will keep you entertained on a winter’s night. The plot is full of emotional twists and turns, and the characters are crafted brilliantly with the strength required to overcome social dictates. This is a great book that will suit all those who love steamy historical romances.
Sometimes the best intentions bring about happiness unexpectedly. Callisto Middleton was determined to see her mother find happiness. She knew that her mother had an interest in Robert Wynter, Earl of Deerwood and when they were invited to a Christmas house party by him, she saw her chance.
But he Earl’s son Graham, was determined to keep the two apart and that is when he and Callie began their journey. Sparks fly, humor abouts and happiness is finally found… maybe.. Loved this story!
A great read!
I love a sweet short read like this anytime of the year, and Stacy Reid never disappoints! Interesting characters in a wintry setting, with lots of teasing banter and growing emotions. Treat yourself to this one for sure.
At Cross Purposes
I have read several books by this author, and like the other ones, I found this one a joy to read. I thought it was fun that the heroine, instead of focusing on her marital prospects, wanted to help her widowed mother with an excellent match. She knew her mother was already interested in someone, and it was mutual, but things were not progressing as the daughter had hoped. I also thought it was great that the hero was very protective of his father, the earl who is the love interest of the heroine’s mother. The son and daughter are at cross purposes, as the son believes that the heroine’s family are fortune hunters. But things get steamy between the younger generation even as they try to promote or protect. The hero is a bit of a rogue and not matrimony minded at first, though he does come around, of course. And I absolutely loved it near the end where he acts in such a Darcy-like, perfectly swoon-worthy way. I like the idea of having dual romances in a book, especially with different generations. What fun! The only thing I didn’t like about this book is that I felt like it started with an information dump, which I never like to see in a novel. Other than that, I like the premise of this book and the four main characters; I also like the idea of adult children most wanting to help or protect their slightly older parents.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
A sweet holiday story that is sure to put a smile on your face. Callie was not able to have a full season due to her father’s passing. Her family had many obstacles to face and she wasn’t able to have another season. Callie is now however determined to play matchmaker for her mother. She and her family are invited to a house party by the Earl of Deerwood and she sees this as an opportunity to try her matchmaking skills. The earl’s son, Graham, tries to thwart her attempts, but he can’t stop the sparks that fly between them. This is a short and delightful novella with wonderful characters that is sure to melt your heart. I highly recommend!

(Previously published in the “Once Upon a Christmas Wedding Anthology”)
You get what the synopsis promises in this 148 page adversaries to in love, Christmas themed, very graphic, steamy romantic tale, folks. A feisty but light hearted, doesn’t back down, romantic at heart, matchmaker meets her match and makes a connection all of her own. Flames of passion ignite and consume Callie and Graham, the main couple, after sparring words, throwing down the gauntlet, and vowing to do whatever is necessary to see to the happiness and well being of their esteemed parents. These two perfect for each other love birds keep an eagle eye out for what the other is up to, all without noticing their ploys just keep drawing them closer and closer to each other.
You’ll have to give Graham a little time to completely come around. He’s not sold on the notion of marriage at the moment as soundly as Callie is. However, in my opinion, he makes up for it in a dramatic, make your heart melt, Mr. Darcy would be proud, type move at the end.
As always, this author woos me completely over with her seamless, engaging writing and intriguing main couples. Whether it be a lengthy love story or a quick read in one sitting, I can’t get enough of her sweet and smexy romantic tales.
P.S.: I lowered one star only because I actually wished they had not gone all the way. It made not putting up a fight for love when it counted all the more traumatic for this avid romantic at heart, which is likely just silly ole me being picky, folks. There’s a good chance it won’t factor in at all for you.

Mischief and Mistletoe by Stacy Reid is part of the Forever Yours Series. This is the story of Graham Wynter, Viscount Sherbrooke and Callisto ‘Callie’ Middleton. This can be a standalone book if you wish to do so. Graham is a ladies man but he is also one that watches out for those ladies that are after money and title. Which leads him to protect his dad when he thinks the attempts by Callie to set her mom up with his dad is a scheme. Callie’s mother lost their father along with everything associated with his title Yes, they are in a bind but Callie’ mother seems to having feelings Graham’s father. So Callie wants to help her mom find new happiness. I am such a fan of this author’s writing. Ms. Reid always gives such wonderful stories. Loved this book and would highly recommend this author’s writing.
Mischief and Mistletoe, is novella ten in the Forever Yours series, a well written story that held my interest until the end. This is Graham George Winter, Viscount Sherbrooke and Miss Callisto Georgiana Middleton’s story which I enjoyed reading this steamy regency story that was fun to read. Stacy has written a quick witty story about unexpected love. Callie is trying to move love along for her mom but finds unexpected love with Graham. Graham didn’t believe in love but it hits him hard with one woman he didn’t or thought he shouldn’t love. The story was steamy at the right moments and made me laugh at others with the schemes that Callie was trying and Graham ruined. It was a fast read that I highly recommend to everyone.

Loved this sweet romance with Callie who is playing matchmaker with her widowed mother and their next door widowed neighbor Robert, Earl of Deerwood all set during the Christmas Season. All seems to be going well until his son Graham, Viscount of Sherbooke steps in to put a stop to her matchmaking. What neither one expected was to fall in love with each other much to his father’s disagreement. Great story and characters.
It was a good story set at Christmas time.
Callie wants to see her mother happy and Graham wants to see his father safe and not taken advantage of. What neither expected was to find an attraction between each other. Since Graham’s father cares for Callie’s mother he feels that Callie and Graham should not be together. Perhaps Graham’s father needs to back off. What happens is our story. It was a good story set at Christmas time when love is in the air. Oh, there is some lovely steam. An excellent read that I just may visit again come the holidays. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
Callie Middleton believes that her mother and the Earl of Deerwood are attracted to each other. A Christmas house party is the perfect place to play matchmaker and give them a nudge. The Earl’s son is suspicious of her motives, so he follows Callie around to keep her from causing mischief. These two spend enough time together to form an attraction of their own. Is it possible that two matches might be made? Of course, not all ever-afters come easy. What’s the hitch and how is it solved?
This is a happy, heartwarming holiday tale with wonderful characters, a scheme worthy of Santa’s elves, and not one, but two chances at happily ever after. I enjoyed it and happily recommend it.

Callisto “Callie” Middleton, at the age of twenty-four, has diminished hopes of finding her own husband, but feels that her mother deserves a second chance. Callie’s father died five years ago, leaving them in much reduced circumstances. Now her mother, still relatively young at forty two, and quite lovely, has been showing some interest in the Earl of Deerwood, who is also a widower. However, instead of taking action on their mutual attraction, the couple just seems to be dancing around the whole issue. When the earl decides to host a house party, Callie decides to help the waffling couple along on their way to happiness.
When the earl’s grown son, Graham, learns of his father’s serious interest in the widowed Lady Middleton, he immediately suspects that she is simply a fortune hunter. He mistakes her shyness as a true lack of interest in his father. Graham soon learns of Callie’s plots to throw the couple together, and is equally determined to keep them apart. As Callie and Graham spar over their parents, they begin to become quite enamored of each other.
MISCHIEF & MISTLETOE is a short and delightful romp, set during the Christmas holiday. The relationship between Graham and Callie is fun and steamy, and their parents’ romance is sweet. Just when Graham seems to become reconciled to his father’s new love, and is willing to take a chance on his own feelings for Callie, an impediment seems to come from nowhere. Ironically, the parents are now objecting to the romance between their respective children. MISCHIEF & MISTLETOE is an entertaining read for those who enjoy Christmas romances and happy ever afters.

ONE FUN-FILLED TREAT
Splendid! Stacy delivers one thrilling treat with all the action, heat and magic blazing a path laying it out for this perfectly paired, matched up team, raising the stakes and keeping it real, wrapping this baby up sleek, shiny and tight. Cutting loose, putting this baby through its paces, weaving it together strand by strand flawlessly. Tempting, tangled and tightly entwined, baring the crazy quirks and defying bents, putting our characters through their paces, testing them in ways they could have never envisioned. Blurred lines and crossed boundaries, limitations are amplified and negotiated, laying out all the fervent facts, feels and fiascos, kicking this jewel into a hissy with an astonishing realization. Sparks fly as drama, humor, intrigue, turmoil, a little double dealing, electrifying suspense and delightful situations along with a boatload of revelations, you have one incredible adventure. The attraction and chemistry collides with such intensity, exposing deep emotions, drawing our characters closer, binding them to one another perfectly. The characters, interactions and charged atmosphere along with relatable qualities and individual traits, adding depth and diversity, transforming into outstanding personalities. The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and descriptions, as to give you a full understanding and realism that flows smoothly. Amazing job Stacy, thanks for sharing this little guy with us.
Loved the story of two girls who try to help their mother. They notice she has deep feelings for their neighbor a widowed Earl but she is leary of giving into her feelings. The Earl’s son sees what the oldest is doing and he keeps constant watch on her and thwarts her at every try. Unknowingly they are falling each other in the process. The Earl forbids his son from seeing Callie as they would be brother/sister in-laws thru marriage.
