MISBEHAVED is my first Charleigh Rose book, and I really enjoyed it.
So, let me start by saying I love teacher/student romances but I especially love the ones that are a little fucked up. Think VEILED INNOCENCE and UNTEACHABLE. Like, both the H and h have some issues and they’ve seen some shit. MISBEHAVED fits that bill quite nicely. I can’t say a whole lot more about that without unraveling the plot AND I’ve been enjoying some of Harpoon’s summer ales so….it’s sufficient to say the leads have Baggage.
There were a lot of times when this book could’ve gotten really cliche. It didn’t. Everything is consensual and the H shows the amount of restraint appropriate for a 29-year-old man with feelings for an 18-year-old student.
The sexytimes are beautifully done. They don’t happen until a bit later in the story (this is not Quick and Dirty, friends), and the writing is lovely. Just lovely. It’s thoughtful and intentional, and sophisticated without being pretentious. It’s good some shit.
This book is a little darker than I usually go, but the way the relationship between the h and her stepbrother (who is not the H, just in case you were wondering) winds around uncomfortable and unpleasant and so fucking meaningful is just remarkable and worth it. It is so, so easy to write situations where characters have binary options — stay or go — without really accounting for the depth of human relationships. Even bad familial relationships are meaningful, and walking away from them just isn’t binary. The Rem/Ryan relationship is really, really authentic.
So much more than just a sexy teacher student novel! Mr. James and Remington own me.
This was a surprising emotional but still smutty read! I really enjoyed it both characters were deep and had grown throughout the book. The suspense and angst of wanting to know what awaits me in the pages to come. I loved it all. This book will not disappoint you!
I loved the ending and I cant wait to see what this sexy pair have for us in future. PLUS this cover is drool worthy!!! Right?!?!?!?
This was one forbidden love I absolutely loved and consider a top read!
Seriously……why did I wait so long to read this story? I was totally missing out on one awesome book! It truly is one of the best teacher/student romances that I have ever read. Such incredible writing, fantastic characters, amazing storyline…….I can’t say enough wonderful things about it. Absolutely loved it!
Oh holy greatness…. this story takes “forbidden romance” to a whole other level!
Remi and her stepbrother, Ryan, live in the bad side of the city. She gets to attend a prestigious school for her senior year in high school. To say that her relationship with Ryan is inappropriate is a bit of an understatement, but she doesn’t want him to be anything other than her brother and best friend. When she gets to the school she gets noticed by Pierce James, her debate teacher. He happens to see an exchange between her and Ryan that worries him, and then he noticed that he knows Ryan from his past, and it was not in a good way. He tries to stay away from Remi, but she pushes the boundaries. He never stood a chance!
Remi is a very strong and determined lady. There was no way that she was going to spend her whole life living in the crappy life she was raised in. Her relationship with Ryan was quite odd. But the relationship that she came to have with Pierce was super hot, and exactly what she needed at just the right time. He was there to give her support that she was not getting from the men in her life at home. This was a bit of a tear-jerker toward the end, and LOVED every second of it!
The whole nine yard
This book has you hooked from the beginning. It makes you laugh, cry and get angry. I’ve read it twice and both times I was totally immersed in their story. I love the sassiness of Remi and the alpha-ness of Pierce. It am also in a love -hate relationship with Ryan.
One of the better student/teacher books I’ve read! Great characters that you actually cared about and character development was better than I normally expect for these books lol Remy is a rule breaker and I love that in heroines! If you like student/teacher romance, you won’t be disappointed in this one!
This story was a lot of things. It was frustrating. It was was hot. It was intense. It was sad and devastating, but above all, it was amazing. I loved where it left us. You really root for our main girl. You hate people on her behalf, and you love people too. The characters are well written, and interesting. You were able to related to, and you find yourself being able to understand every character. I will warn you… something happens that pulls the rug out from beneath your feet. It almost had me in tears, and that’s no easy feat. I will ever , and already have been, recommending this book to others. A fantastic teacher/ student romance!
I adore all that Charleigh Rose writes. I find myself always addicted to the writing and reading the book within 24 hours, and this continued with Misbehaved.
Warning: This is a forbidden romance between a 29 year old teacher and his 18 year old high school student. This book also involves drug use and consequences.
Remington Springer has grown up in poverty Las Vegas. With a truckie dad who is never around and a mum that was lost before she could remember, it has always been her and her step-brother; Ryan. Ryan is 5 years older than her and has always had her back. He has been there from her first fall, to her first period, all the way to she lost her virginity. Ryan was always the good guy, until he wasn’t. Remi has been feeling quite like Ryan keeps trying to step that boundary of more than step-siblings and more like, lovers. Remi isn’t comfortable with this and the story opens up with Remi and how she is sick of her low life. Until an opportunity arises for her to attend West York private school.
Pierce James has been lost for quite sometime. He grew up wealthy in Orange County, with parents who cared more about their reputation then their children. This caused for his sister to raise him, and he found himself following her when she adventured to Las Vegas. He got a job at the local private school as a debate teacher, even though his real profession was a lawyer. Unfortunately, his sister also falls into the wrong crowd leaving Pierce alone. Until he meets Remi, his student.
Pierce & Remi were obviously two lost souls who were looking for their other half, and they found it in each other. Pierce did treat Remi with respect, but I also found him speaking down to her a lot like a child when newsflash, she is only 18. I would love to read more on their future and how they go while Remi is at college.
All in all, an addictive forbidden/taboo read. 4/5 stars with 3.5/5 steam.
Remington is a smart girl from the wrong side of the tracks. Her mom died when she was a baby. Her dad is a trucker so he is never home and her step-brother has an unhealthy obsession with her. She is given the opportunity of a lifetime to finish our high school at a prestigious school that should open up doors for her. If she can survive her debate teacher, Mr. Pierce James.
I am a huge fan of age-gap, taboo student-teacher books and Charleigh Rose delivered with this book big time. One of the things that I really respected about this book is that you could see both the young 18 year old Remy and the mature 18 year old Remy just trying to get out of her life situation while struggling with still loving her family. It is hard with these age gap books to find that balance. Usually the younger character is either over the top unbelievably mature or very much their age and you can’t understand why the older person is with them. But Charleigh nails Remy perfectly. I absolutely adored how strong yet vulnerable Remy was. She was so real and even though I am nothing like her, she was so relatable. And then there is Pierce, that beautifully broken man. Charleigh does such a good job of creating a broken yet redeemable man. My heart hurt for him so much and what he went through was so relatable. I absolutely adored everything about this book and highly recommend it to anyone that will listen to me.
Holy wow! I love student/teacher romance and Charleigh Rose has just given me a new favorite to add to my list. This story had all the angst, heat, and swoony moments I could ever ask for. Pierce and Remi were everything! My heart ached for Remi. Her past was full of trouble and disappointment. And then, there was Pierce ready to take it all away and love her despite all the obstacles in their way. This is my first Charleigh Rose book and I will definitely be reading the rest right now!
“You deserve so much more than this life.”
“I know, but I want to find ‘more’ by myself. To earn it.”
“You have earned it.” His lips are now on mine, and his fingers are in my hair. “Now let me deserve you.”
Hands down one of the best student/teacher books I’ve ever read.
There is just something about the way Charleigh Rose writes that once I start a story, I cannot put it down. This book was no different. I am all about a student/teacher romance if done correctly and this book was perfection in that department! I really loved Remi as a character. Like, one of my favorite characters I’ve read. She loves so hard and she’s so selfless but at the same time she’s so strong. She’s strong for herself but she’s really strong for those around her. I also really liked the side plot that went along with the main plot. I thought it brought just the right about of drama and the ending… the ending sold me on the 5 stars. This book is for sure not for everyone but it ticked a lot of my boxes. If you’re open minded and like taboo relationships in books then I would suggest giving this book a chance. I have yet to read anything from Charleigh Rose that is less than 5 stars.
My first book by Charleigh Rose and still one of my all-time favourite student teacher romances! She does a fantastic job of delivering steamy chemistry, but also tender moments between sassy heroines and their delicious alpha heroes
Till this book I didn’t like stories about age differences… but this book made me fall for Charleigh and her writing! I love it!
Misbehaved is a five star emotionally gripping story and I loved it!
Remington is getting ready to start her senior year in high school. Her father saved enough money to send her to a posh school so that she could maybe make a better life for herself. Unfortunately Remi’s dad is usually away on the road for his trucking job so he leaves her alone with her step-brother, Ryan. Ryan has it in his head that him and Remi are meant to be together forever and he keeps telling her she will be with him. He gets increasingly more violent with her and as he drops her off at her new school he basically tells her to keep her mouth shut and that he owns her. Remi has a bad first day, she is singled out by her second hour teacher and ends up in the headmaster’s office due to inappropriate footwear. Things get increasingly more difficult for Remi because her step-brother is a drug addict and while her dad is gone for work he is partying and trashing the house. Plus he is getting more and more out of control when it comes to Remi. Pierce her second hour teacher is also starting to be more up in her business also. With all the secrets everyone is keeping and all the drama at school things are definitely going to implode sooner or later. Grab this book to find out what happens because it’s a definite must read.
I’ve read alot of books with the student/teacher trope and I will say this is a top read! It was so much more than a forbidden romance! I loved Remi, she was sassy and awesome! Pierce aka Mr. James, was so sexy and yummy!! I never had a teacher like him! I loved them together, they had amazing chemistry! The sex scenes were so hot! This is a must read!
Wow!!!! Went into this book expecting the usual hot and sexy teacher/student read but it was much more, so much more. Fantastic character development, plot twists, angst filled teenagers and great dialogue. Charleigh Rose has written an actual love story full of all the emotions that go with it. So unexpected and so fantastic.
His lips are on my neck, but my heart is in his teeth.
But don’t worry readers this book is still seriously HOT!!
“Come.” He inhales deeply, his nose in my hair. “Come, my favorite secret.”
I’ve never been a religious man, but seeing Remington Stringer laid out on my bed like a sacrificial lamb makes me want to drop to my knees, bury my face between her thighs, and worship her. So that’s what I do.
Definitely recommend this book to everyone, you won’t be disappointed
So I’ve already established that I’m ALL ABOUT Student-Teacher romances, but this one raised the bar infinitely. There was so much depth to the story and the characters – PLUS the sex was EN FUEGO (and not at all creepy, which can sometimes be the case with Student-Teacher dealios). I think one of my favorite lines in the book (from the teacher, James Pierce): “I fell in love with a girl who felt like a woman and made me feel like a man instead of a ghost.” (It’s important to state that Remington is on the cusp of 18 and INCREDIBLY mature for her age, so the attraction is not unfounded or off-putting).
Remington Stringer is the heroine – she’s desperate to escape her current situation (she lives in a bad neighborhood in Las Vegas with an absentee father and pseudo step-brother that is becoming increasingly and obsessively lecherous towards her) and gets a chance to move in a better direction via attendance at a posh private school for her senior year. There she meets James Pierce (gorgeous, intelligent, deliciously alpha) – her debate teacher. He sparks an interest within her unlike anything she’s ever experienced and it turns out that the feeling is mutual. Their borderline combative banter is explosive from right from their initial introduction. As it turns out, not only is their attraction mutual, they are already connected to each other in a way neither of them could have possibly anticipated nor fathomed (but I’m not going to speak to that because this is a total spoiler-free zone).
The story was nuanced and unique in a sub-genre that seems to be gaining some popularity if the volume of Student-Teacher romances that are being released lately is any indication. The characters are so beautifully damaged and you can’t help but get invested with each one of them. This was my first Charleigh Rose book and it most certainly won’t be my last. My adoration of this story is so intense that the duo has already been added to my “Must Read Authors” list. I wholeheartedly give Misbehaved 5 out of wine glasses. I’ve already re-read it twice and will continue to do so as the mood strikes. I’ll also be buying a hard copy of the book – these ladies earned all the money I can give them for this spectacular book!
Pierce equals yummy. He was everything. He wants you to follow the rules. Nothing else. Period. However, Remington becomes a game changer. She doesn’t mind breaking those supposed rules. Remi wanted to make Pierce squirm and work for her attention. I believe she did that in equal measure. There was somewhat of a slowburn between the teacher and student but Pierce and Remi wanted each like their last breath.
It took me close to the end of the book… I mean to really feel sorry for Ryan. I mean for fuck sake, why do I feel anything for him? Most of the time he treated Remi like shit. Also there were time towards the middle and ending point of the book, I wanted to reach in the book and shake her. She was too stubborn at times.
I’m glad this was part of my books to read. If you truly want to know how to misbehave…. I mean misbehave with the beautiful Mr. James just start with page one.
