Everyone thinks they know Evie. She’s the sweet, innocent, quiet Adamson. She’s the good one. That couldn’t be more wrong. We’re all a little broken. We all have things we hide and that haunt us.When Evie’s secrets come out, we’ll all see just how wrong we were. Never assume you know someone.
Misassumption is the fourth book in The Adamson Family series by Nicole Dykes.
“I grip her face with both hands, staring into her soul, hating her and loving her with every single part of me.”
This book was truly bittersweet because it is the last one in the series. Nicole, you dominated this book. You are unapologetic and you showed us the gritty, raw aspect of having a mental illness. Much applause to you. This was beautiful.
“You have a beautiful soul.”
Eve Adamson is the youngest in the Adamson bunch. After years and years of being treated like a little girl even though she is as grown as everyone else, she has limited herself to doing her own thing. She prefer isolation to avoid to protect herself. She is battling a mental illness that nobody knows about except for Tate who is both her best friend and friends with benefits.
“You cared when I was just the freak on the floor, trembling with fear and confusion.”
Tate is a race car driver. He never stays in one place except he frequents Kansas. He is arrogant and totally unapologetic. He does not care what other people of him and that is good for him. He only confides in his best friend and friends with benefits Eve.
“In one kiss, i know there is nothing on earth i can’t do.”
Ty is a tattoo artist Eve’s older brothers, Chris, shop. He is incredibly caring and handsome. He is absolutely loyal and will do anything to make sure nothing will hinder any relationships he has with his friends even if that mean he has to take it slow with Eve. Morgan, his best friend, doesn’t approve of his conquest to date Eve.
“I’m not innocent. I’m not sweet. I have needs and desires. And it’s time he and the rest of the world gets that.”
This was dynamic and explosive. This was having many secrets and having those secrets spill. This was about finding love and realization of true love. This was heartbreak and mending the heart. This was accepting flaws and embracing them. This was about acceptance and growing.
“My heart is going to explode. This is how I’m going to die. Not on a drug-induced bender or in a high-speed wreck.”
Nicole flawlessly executed this and it was beautiful. It is bittersweet that this was the last one in this series. I love this series and it was an intense journey. I devoured this book. I can’t wait to see what is next! I am hooked.
“And for the record, there isn’t much I wouldn’t do for you, Eve Adamson.”
Eve is the youngest Adamson and the family treats her as if she’s still a little kid. So she keeps a lot to herself.
When it comes to relationships it’s never something that Eve ever wants. She just does “one-night stands”. Most times she hooks up with Tate because both never want anything serious between them. The only thing Eve does is open up to Tate about some “hidden secrets” that no one else knows about.
One day Eve agrees to go on an actual date with Ty who’s friends with her brother Chris. They take it slow to see if this will lead to something or not. But not everyone is thrilled with them being together. Will things work out for Eve and Ty?
This book had me sad at times and glad at other times. Just when you think you have things figured out you get thrown a curveball and that is what kept me wanting to not put this book down!
Oh holy hell!!! I didn’t think this series could get nay better but Nicole proves me wrong. I have read every book in this series. I fell in love with Evie and Ty. This book made me get all up in my feelings. I felt what Evie was going through. I am dealing with some personal stuff and I felt like not only Evie but Nicole was talking to me through this book and telling me that I’m not alone. That everything will be ok.
If you haven’t rest this series then you need to. You can read this book as a stand-alone but you really should start from the beginning. I am kind of happy and sad at the same time. Sad that this series has come to an end but happy that I know Nicole will come out with something else that is great!!
I can’t wait to see where she takes us next and who we get to meet.
Miss Dykes you have done it again! Evie is my girl. This book will have you in all your feels and leave you on the edge of your seat. Half of the time you are not going to know who to root for. I am going to be honest, love triangles are a HARD limit for me. They make me so utterly anxious and rip my heart in two. I loved both Ty and Tate which is exactly why I don’t like love triangles. But Miss Dykes will be making up for it when the not so hero gets his story and I’m PRAYING the heroine is a character we have met in this story. The ending when he pours his heart out to Evie broke meI just wanted to give him the biggest hug. Sorry to seem vague don’t want to drop names and spoil the story. If you want to k ow you’ll need to read it! Happy Reading!
Evie Adamson is one of a kind full of mystery! She is the quit one trying to show her family she is not a child anymore. Always thinking she is a little broken to only be the stone at.
This is the final book in the Adamson series and is Eve’s story. Eve’s story is written with heartfelt love and understanding.
She is the youngest and has suffered in silence with the rest of her siblings not knowing why she stays away so much and doesn’t like going to family functions.
She is torn between Ty and Tate and if I were her I would have been unable to choose.
There were times during the book when I was in tears and other times when I could have throttled Nicole for the way she wrote the story. But once i came to the end I didn’t want it to finish.
Brilliant ending to the series but I want more!!!!
Ok..y’all need to bare with me on this one.
I downloaded Misassumption this morning and could not put it down.
It’s my first book by the author and I’m wondering why in the hell I haven’t read her before.
Misassumption is NOT your typical romance.
Raw emotions that rock your core.
It shows love is sometimes messy and very complicated.
You can’t help who you fall in love with.
The mental health issues were real, relatable and handled beautifully.
Characters were flawed and broken but that’s true to life.
This can be read as a stand-alone but I’m kicking myself for not starting with book 1.
I want to know the entire family and their journey.
Soo…I’m rectifying that ASAP and starting with the Monroe series.
Please, please give this author a try.

This book is hands down THE BEST in the Adamson Family series! I immediately felt kinship with Evie/Eve and her outlook on life. While she has her own struggles she is unbelievably strong and the two heroes in this story recognize that. Ty and Tate were both extremely important to her journey in truly finding and being comfortable with herself. I loved (almost) every second of it…LOL. I will warn that no matter whether you are #TeamTy or #TeamTate you will be upset at some point while reading but it’s all worth it!!
I’m not sure who anyone else was rooting for but I think she ended up with her true soulmate. Now if only the other guy could get his HEA…
Evie Adamson is the youngest of the Adamson clan and tries to keep to herself. She has secrets she keeps from the family that she thinks makes her “the freak on the floor”. Tate sees her. Ty wants to see her. That couldn’t possibly cause any problems right? I think some readers will find themselves irritated with Evie, but honestly she took the path she needed to get where she needed to be. I loved her story. I think its my favorite out of all the siblings. I love her strength, her vulnerability and her brokenness. I’m gonna miss this family.
Wow!
Not at all what I was expecting!
Not.
At.
All.
This story was great! I really enjoyed Eve.
A little wild, but genuine when it counts.
Trust me, you need to read this one.
Sometimes we all are a little messed up. And that’s this story.
A little messed up in the inside.
Great job Nicole!
(Short review – I do NOT want to ruin this one for you! You’ll thank me later!)
I wish I had ten stars to give!!!! This was the last Adamson story, and Dykes saves the best for last!!!! And man did she hit a grand slam!!!! Nicole Dykes is amazingly brilliant and this book was brilliantly written!!!! Standing ovation!!!!!
Dykes has Crushed this story!
She attacks anxiety and sticks you right in the nitty gritty of a topic that’s usually hiding in the back of the closet.
She’s not apologetic and she shouldn’t be. Mental health shouldn’t be a Taboo topic, everyone has issues and it’s nothing to be ashamed about.
I’ve said from the beginning Evie would knock all the other Adamson stories out of the ring and she absolutely did. Not that I didn’t love the rest of them but Evie hit pretty close to home.
Tate and Ty will have you going back and forth on if you want the bad boy to win her or the good boy all the way till the end of the book.
You have to read this story. There really is nothing else to say except one click the crap out of this one!
Evie and Ty
Eve and Tate
Wow! What an amazing way to end an incredible series!
Evie Adamson, the youngest of the Adamson siblings is far from perfect. She has a secret she has kept from everyone for years. Except from bad boy Tate. He knows her like no other. She truly has feelings for Pretty boy Ty as well. the one she loves, also.
There is so much angst, love, hate, and emotion within these words and pages. I felt one way, then another ! You should pick this up NOW!! One Click 5 stars for sure!
Are you #TeamTy or #TeamTate?
” She isn’t the sh girl or the vixen, she’s somewhere in the beautiful in-between.”
It sucked me in completely!! I do love the Adamson’s and Eve was the youngest and mostly quiet one. Well she’s grown up and boy did she ever.
Nicole Dykes just about destroyed my heart!! I love this crazy Adamson family and just how intertwined they are in each other’s lives. Eve grew up with her mother and we get a glimpse into her childhood through the flashbacks. It just breaks your heart and makes you want Eve to find her happiness. But who will she choose Tate who understands her and knows her soul or Tyler who who wants to know her and is a balm to her hectic life. My heart could just not take it. You totally get why Eve could be with either one, they are just total opposites of each other. But Evie’s Heart Belongs to just one and it’s an ugly beautiful complicated mess. And it was absolutely freaking amazing to read it. I could not put it down. I loved, loved it!!
the old saying about assuming rings true in this book. We can’t assume anything. This book has you thinking one thing and then the complete opposite happens. This book will have you emotionally tied into knots. It tackles mental abuse, anxiety and the importance of mental health. Everyone thinks Evie is the good girl. Quiet, stays to herself and follows the rules. Eve has more going on than most people think. She is hiding a secret and it is taking a toll on her relationships with her family and with romance. When she meets Tate, she feels a connection. Tate is the bad boy. He doesn’t make friends and the only person he likes is Eve. They want the same things. Friendship, no commitment and dirty sex. They have more in common than we think. When Ty comes along, she is ready to settle down, or is she. He wants to take things slow and get to know her. Ty is “normal”. He is the opposite of Tate. What follows is a story that will have you fuming mad, teary eyed and out of breath from the back and forth. Whether you are Team Tate of Team Ty you will love this story beyond the last page.
Misassumption is about the youngest Adamson, Eve or Evie to her family. The youngest that everyone just assumes is the most innocent and naive of them all since she is the most reclusive of them. What people forget is that every person has skeletons and secrets. Eve is just better at hiding hers than the rest of the “not raised right” Adamsons. This series is more like real life with secrets, love, heated chemistry and family drama by the truckloads.
Read to find out how Eve handles anxiety, men (Ty and Tate), family and growing up. The conclusion to this series will have you on the edge of your seat wondering who actually deserves and wins Eve’s heart.
Another great story by Nicole. Well written and dealing with some pretty weighty subjects. Evie had kept her secret from her family for years. She had distanced herself and isolated herself at times to protect it. Then she falls in love and through that she gains the courage to share. Due to the triangle within this book I don’t want to say too much and waste the story but suffice to say it’s a doozy!!
While Evie isn’t my favourite Nicole heroine she does have the sass and realism of a classic Nicole leading lady
I’m so over the moon with this story. I knew it was going to be good. I mean it’s Evie, it had to be!
That still didn’t parpare me for the massive book hangover I would suffer. There’s so many real issues that this book covers, it honestly left me with a whole new perspective.
Evie the baby of the Adamson bunch is always thought of as sweet and innocent, just because she’s not as boisterous as her siblings. That couldn’t be further from the truth. Her need to avoid the crowd stems from something way more serious than quietness.
Tate the hot and hunky racer is way more than meets the eye. The problem is no one gets close enough to notice, no one but Evie that is. She see the man under the jerk cover.
What I loved most about this book was I couldn’t predict the ending. Every time I thought it was going in one direction the next chapter happened and I thought… Misassumption!!
This is by far my favorite Nicole Dykes Book. I’d give it more than 5 stars if I could!!
To say I was curious about Evie’s story is an understatement, we knew absolutely nothing about her…she was a mystery….not anymore!!! Evie has secrets that keep her isolated from those she loves, she interacts with her family as little as possible because she doesn’t want her siblings to know what she’s dealing with, she thinks they will stop loving her, so she stays away. There is one person that knows what she is going through, and that would be asshat Tate, who is a racer like her brothers Levi and Phillip, everyone thinks Tate is an asshole, and rightly so, but he’s different when he’s around Evie. They have a “friends with benefits” thing going on, they hook up when he’s in town. Then there’s Ty…Oh ty…*sigh* he works for Evie’s brother Chris in his tattoo shop, and there is chemistry between them, but Ty doesn’t want to go there with Evie because of his friendship with Chris, so they start dating. Tate is still in the picture though too, so what will happen? Who will ultimately win her heart….guess you’ll just have to read this amazing book to find out!! There is so much that happens with this book, I loved it so much!! I think this is one of my favorite books of Nicole’s, but then I love all her books, so grab this book, you honestly will love it…promise!!
Holy WOW! This blew every idea of a perfect HEA out of the water. This book was REAL, this book was BRUTAL, this book was BEAUTIFUL. Absolute must read! Bravo Nicole, you continue to surprise me!
