MISADVENTURES ARE STANDALONE ROMANCES THAT CAN BE READ IN ANY ORDERBlake Monroe hasn’t had the easiest life, but she’s never been one to dwell on her misfortunes, preferring to see the world as a place where you get what you give.Having had an especially troubling childhood, Blake’s aware she doesn’t exactly fit the definition of “normal.” Her lack of filter, dry sense of humor, and uncanny … filter, dry sense of humor, and uncanny ability to read people make her rather unique—and difficult to live with. When her latest roommate has had enough of her antics, Blake decides living with a man might suit her better.
Gavin Gibson’s a dreamer whose artsy aspirations don’t meet the high expectations of his wealthy family. Cast off and cut off, Gavin needs a place to live. When he’s invited to share Blake’s quaint apartment, he cannot pass it up. With a knack for spotting the good in others, Gavin can see past Blake’s quirks—and neither of them can ignore their sexual chemistry.
As sparks fly, their genuine affection for each other grows, and Gavin begins to break down Blake’s defenses. But can Blake open up to reveal the damage she’s worked so hard to conceal?

Misadventures is a romantic series of spicy standalone novels, each written or co-written by some of the best names in romance. The stories are scandalous, refreshing, and, of course, incredibly sexy. They’re the perfect bedside read, a ‘quick blush’ for the reader who loves a page-turning romance.

Misadventures with My Roommate makes me wish I gave half stars. I liked this novella quite a bit, but I just can’t give it four stars. There was too much story untold, too much character development that just didn’t happen because it was a novella and not a full-length book. I’m sad, too, because I really was into Blake and Gavin’s story. I should probably be happy with the format, but I’m just not sure it did their story justice.
Blake was a bit of a tough nut to crack. It seemed almost like there was more under the surface than what was ever uncovered. I had a tough time deciding if she was totally sarcastic or if she really believed some of the things she said. She was a quirky character with zero filter and while that was refreshing at times, other times I felt like I was struggling to “get” her. Gavin was sweet and sexy and the perfect pairing for Blake. I thought his personality balanced hers nicely. Sparks flew between these two characters any time they were together and it was only a matter of time before they gave in. This novella did get a little heavier at one point, but I liked the added depth. I just wish there had been more time to explore it all.
Overall Misadventures with My Roommate was a good read. I enjoy Elizabeth Hayley’s writing style and am intrigued by their characters. I just wish there had been more story! Oh, it’s worth adding I listened to the audiobook for this one and I loved the narrators. Sarah McEwan and Jacob Morgan did a fantastic job reading this one.

Elizabeth Hayley always delivers such fun reads that they are an easy choice when I’m looking for a book that will make me smile while giving me a story I can’t put down. The chemistry Gavin and Blake had while working together at a coffee shop boils to the surface when the two of them start sharing a small space.
Well-written and witty Misadventures With My Roommate was a delightfully fun and sexy read. The Misadventure series are all standalone novels and this was the first one I personally read but I loved the concept and will definitely be looking to read more.

This is another entertaining read from the Misadventures Series and the first I have read by this author. Blake works at a coffee shop. She is refreshing as she has no filter and says whatever she thinks. However, there are those people who see her quirkiness as a character flaw which leads her to have somewhat of a revolving door when it comes to roommates. Gavin is Blake’s colleague at the coffee shop and is tasked with showing her the ropes. The more time he spends with her the more endearing she becomes. When Gavin is evicted from his apartment, Blake offers her the empty room at her place. After giving it some thought, Gavin moves in. These two characters just seem to fit together perfectly like coffee and a muffin. They are steamy and sweet. However, each one carries their own baggage from the past. Even though they share their personal histories with each other, they will need to figure out what they really want. This is one passion filled adventure that will have you laughing and engrossed until the end.
I volunteered to read an arc provided by Netgalley.
Another great story for this series. It was so entertaining and hot between Blake and Gavin that you just don’t know what to expect next. Blake Monroe has had a tough life growing up and is a little different from most people that she takes some getting use to. Blake’s humor and lack of filter on things are just so funny and you never know what she will say!
Blake meets Gavin Gibson at the coffee house that they both work. She immediately lets him know she’s interested in him and Gavin finds her honesty and humor entertaining. When Blake finds out that Gavin needs to look for another place to live, she offers him a place in her apartment since her roommate abruptly moves out (she couldn’t put up with Blake’s quirkiness anymore). Gavin and Blake sharing an apartment together is entertaining to see because Blake isn’t shy about being interested in Gavin for sex! She finally gets his attention when she straight out tells him what she wants. Blake is not shy about what she wants and she just wants a physical relationship with Gavin since she knows that eventually everyone gets tired of her and her outlook on life. Things between Blake and Gavin are great but then they started getting personal and telling each other about their past that they’ve never told any one else. Blake starts to freak out and Gavin knows he’s falling for Blake but doesn’t want to lose her. Each of them needs to work through their issues and figure out what they want from each other.
Blake’s openness is so entertaining to read about and makes the story so funny and romantic. Gavin’s acceptance of Blake for who she is is refreshing since most people probably couldn’t handle someone like Blake for a long period of time. They are each accepting of the other and that’s a great for a lasting relationship!
I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
What was this? It’s a no for me.
Here I am with another unpopular opinion. This book didn’t do it for me in the slightest. I wanted the sexy and great reads that I came to expect in the Misadventures series and this sadly was not one of them.
This was told in third person POV which isn’t my favorite to read in so there’s that. The characters weren’t relatable and were quite bland if I’m being honest. I found Blake weird and rude, not cute and quirky and Gavin had no personality! And the story isn’t much better, I couldn’t even remember key parts after I stop reading.
It goes without saying, but this was my least favorite of the Misadventures series. Will I read the next one? Of course, this just one just fell flat.
Loved this book. Steamy, funny, sexy…a must read!!
I loved Misadventures With My Roommate. It was a fun read with characters that are a bit different than your typical romance hero and heroine. To me, it seem like the roles were reverse in many ways. Gavin isn’t rich. He works two jobs to make ends meet. He comes across more of a beta than an alpha male. He’s sweet and a gentleman, not being too bold with Blake. She’s not shy to be forward. Blake is confident, independent, and unapologetic. Her lack of filter and sarcastic humor made her fun. I loved Blake’s quirkiness. The things that came out of her mouth had me laughing. Gavin and Blake made the perfect pairing. I adored how they balance each other out. I also liked that both characters were flawed; it made it quite easy to relate to. I enjoyed this book so much that it took me awhile to realized it was written in third person. When a story is written in this way, I usually take awhile to get into it. Elizabeth Hayley did an amazing job.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author. I had a little trouble getting into in but ended up enjoying it.
Blake is…quirky 😉 She likes to say what is on her mind with no filter. The only one she can trust is herself.
Gavin is once again looking for a new place to live after his roommate got them evicted. The quirky new barrista he works with just so happens to have a room available.
The two have an attraction from the start. Will Gavin be able to keep her in the friend zone? Will Blake get Gavin to cross the line?
The two both have baggage that they have not shared with each other. Will it wreck their friendship or bring them closer together?
Look forward to the next Misadventures book.
This was a great quick read and another great addition to the misadventures series. This is my first book by this author and I am hoping it will not be my last. Elizabeth Hayley did a great job at keeping the story moving and making you not want to put the book down. Blake and Gavin are great together. It’s witty and great. Keep up the great work.
Misadventures is right! Blake is a wild card if ever there was one. Her unpredictable behavior, wildly inappropriate mouth, and lack of filtering thoughts and words makes her unforgettable. Unforgettable in more ways than one.
Gavin isn’t sure whether this happy dance for his despair is a good thing or a bad thing. One thing is certain, this is going to get interesting.
This sweet opposites attract story is a perfect side for your penis shaped latte foam.
This story is so funny and adorkable with a touch of drama and a lot of heart. Blake and Gavin are perfectly matched; he gets her quirkiness whereas she understands and supports his hopes and dreams.
Kept me entertained throughout and I highly recommend it.

Favorite Quotes:
Blake instantly grew wary of this woman who looked like the fate of everyone she encountered that day depended on whether or not she got a giant container of coffee— though it made Blake feel a bit like a superhero barista. With this one order, she would be saving this woman’s coworkers from being murdered with office supplies.
I don’t think my brain has room for all of this. I’ve been a bartender for four years, and I still don’t remember how to make most of the drinks. I just throw whatever in a glass, and people know better than to complain.
Celeste had recommended Blake refer to herself as eccentric instead of saying she was “batshit crazy,” which was off-putting. Go figure.
He’d first noticed the odd choice in tile earlier in the day when he was talking to Blake and Celeste but had decided not to ask Blake why she’d chosen to decorate a place where people ate with tiles depicting silhouettes of people posing in various Kama Sutra positions. The fact that he found himself hoping she planned to finish the remaining few square feet alarmed him slightly.
Even as a child, her life was like a Dr. Seuss book of psychiatric professionals.
My Review:
I loved this delightfully clever and smartly crafted book. I smirked, giggled-snorted, and even barked aloud more than a few times at the delightfully off-beat, odd, intensely amusing, and wickedly clever yet shameless utterances and thoughts that flittered through Blake’s rather zany and unfettered brain. She appeared unhindered by concerns for social conventions and tended to blurt out her vividly colorful thoughts and frank observations, which were often on-point yet prone to be irreverent, painfully blunt, socially inappropriate, and outrageously comical. I initially wondered whether she may have some sort of developmental or brain damage, yet she was also verbose and uncannily observant and witty, as well as wildly imaginative and clever in her inner musing and fantasies. I adored her as well as the hapless and befuddled Gavin Gibson, who was as drawn and consumed by the enigmatic Blake as I was. Blake rattled him and sucked him into her vortex of unpredictability, sensuality, and addictively compelling attraction; which was the best thing that ever happened to the both of them. This was my first exposure to the brilliant team of Elizabeth Hayley and I was an instant fangirl and convert for their cult. I greedily want all their rave-worthy and delightfully clever arrangements of words.
First things first this is the first book ive ever read by Elizabeth Hayley and now I will read more of them. Misadventures with my roommate had me LMBO. Blake was really funny and great to read about and Gavin was very sweet i really loved him. This couple was really dynamic and refreshing to read. Thank you #netgalley
Misadventures with My Roommate by Elizabeth Hayley is book Ten in the “Misadventures” series. This is the story of Blake Monroe and Gavin Gibson. This book is a standalone book. Blake had a emotional childhood that has left her with barriers around her heart along with a quirky attitude has help stopped with anyone really getting close to her. When her coworker Gavin needs a place to stay she thinks to offer him the room. Gavin I would say is the compete opposite of Blake where he is more trusting and able to see Blake for who she really is instead of who she tries to be. Being around Gavin has made Blake think more about what she really wants and what she no longer wants to act like. Gavin and Blake did heat up my pages and was a really enjoyable read! A great book to a really great series!
Great book!!! The characters come to life and the story holds your attention in a way that makes the book impossible to put down until you e read the last word!!
Thank you Net Galley, Tour Company, Publisher and authors for an ARC of this story.
This is the story of Blake and Gavin.
co workers that become roommates and eventually more.
Blake is a bit on the weird side but I loved her. She is broken and just living her life without getting to close to anyone or so she thinks.
Gavin is a sweetheart. He is a great character who is always being put down by his parents
These two are just what the other needs. They are the missing pieces to help the other be complete and happy. This story has some pretty smoking scenes as well. Another great Misadventures story!
What a fun book!!!! This misadventures series does not disappoint! This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I’m happy to have found them! This book was full of laughs and was sexy and quirky and just … fun! The characters were so polar opposite and it was exciting to see how they meshed together.

Misadventures With My Roommate is the sexy feel good type of romance I have come to expect from the Misadventures series. Blake hasn’t had an easy life. A rough childhood has left her with little to no filter, a dream sense of humor and a knack for reading people – all of which make her rather difficult to love with. After her latest roommate calls it quits, she thinks maybe she’d have better luck with a male roommate. Enter Gavin. Gavin is an artistic dreamer who finds himself without a place to live when his wealthy parents cut him off because he is not living up to their high expectations. Gavin has the ability to spot the good in others and Blake’s goodness shines through all her quirks. As they get to know each other, their affection grows and their sexual attraction becomes impossible to ignore. Blake finally has someone in her life who is ok with her personality quirks that usually drives normal people crazy, but can she find the courage to open up the Gavin and show him the past she has spent her life trying to change?
I absolutely adored Blake and Gavin. Blake is one of my favorite female characters I have read lately. These two were so perfect for each other and I just loved reading their story.
This was my first book by Elizabeth Hayley but not my first read from the Misadventures series. I really enjoyed spending a couple of days with Blake and Gavin as they got to know each other. Blake is a new employee at the coffee shop where Gavin works. She promptly tells him he is hot and his feels the same about her. Blake calls herself eccentric and freely admits she has no brain to mouth filter. Neither one of them is looking for a relationship just a good time. When Gavin becomes homeless a couple of days after they meet Blake offers to let him move into the room her roommate just evacuated. This is the start of their misadventures.
I liked that this author’s writing style is unique for this series. Her characters are are a little “broken” so not only do we get the adventures as these 2 get to know each other but we get to learn about their pasts as they share with each other. I recommend this book and will be looking for more by Elizabeth Hayley.
