MISADVENTURES ARE STANDALONE ROMANCES THAT CAN BE READ IN ANY ORDERBlake Monroe hasn’t had the easiest life, but she’s never been one to dwell on her misfortunes, preferring to see the world as a place where you get what you give.Having had an especially troubling childhood, Blake’s aware she doesn’t exactly fit the definition of “normal.” Her lack of filter, dry sense of humor, and uncanny … filter, dry sense of humor, and uncanny ability to read people make her rather unique—and difficult to live with. When her latest roommate has had enough of her antics, Blake decides living with a man might suit her better.
Gavin Gibson’s a dreamer whose artsy aspirations don’t meet the high expectations of his wealthy family. Cast off and cut off, Gavin needs a place to live. When he’s invited to share Blake’s quaint apartment, he cannot pass it up. With a knack for spotting the good in others, Gavin can see past Blake’s quirks—and neither of them can ignore their sexual chemistry.
As sparks fly, their genuine affection for each other grows, and Gavin begins to break down Blake’s defenses. But can Blake open up to reveal the damage she’s worked so hard to conceal?

Misadventures is a romantic series of spicy standalone novels, each written or co-written by some of the best names in romance. The stories are scandalous, refreshing, and, of course, incredibly sexy. They’re the perfect bedside read, a ‘quick blush’ for the reader who loves a page-turning romance.

Quirky and unexpected, Blake and Gavin’s story is a refreshing and laugh-out-loud journey from roomies to lovers that I absolutely couldn’t put down. Highly recommend Elizabeth Hayley and this sexy misadventure. Misadventures with My Roommate will not disappoint!
Blake is my spirit animal, seriously. This is a fun and witty read. Gavin is an absolute doll and this book has a special place in my heart. Elizabeth does it again!
Love this book fun great read
This book, my god this book had me laughing my butt of from beginning to end.
I have to say that these Misadventure books have so far been AMAZING.
Blake is one hell of a funny girl. I loved her dry sense of humor. She was blunt, she was forward and she wasn’t ashamed of being who she was.
Gavin was a sexy guy who was just trying to make ends meet. He was on the verge of being homeless because his roommate was using his part of the rent for drugs and Gavin had no idea, until they got the eviction notice.
But let’s not fret because when Blake finds out that Gavin needs a place to stay, she offers him to be her roommate. Although Gavin finds Blake to be a sexy girl, at times it felt like he was a little slow when she was being so damn forward on what she wanted from him and how she felt about him. I wished he was in front of me so I can grab a stick and whack him across the head with it.
But all in all, this book was so damn funny and sexy and full of humor that I lost track of time reading it and was even a bit sad when I reached the end because I was so engrossed with this story.
This book is fun and sexy and so well worth reading.
4.5 Stars
“You’re acting crazy, even for you.”
I’ve really been enjoying the Misadventures series. One of the things I love about them is that each book is like a sample of each author’s writing, but more than that since it’s a complete story. Just the perfect length for readers to try new authors that they might not have considered previously. The writing duo of Elizabeth Hayley is new to me, and I would have missed lots of laughs if I hadn’t picked up Misadventures with My Roommate. I can honestly say that it was some of these author pairings that introduced me to some new favorites, putting them into my path and keeping them on my radar for future works.
It took me a minute to realize that Blake was a female name. But after getting to know her, nothing but unique would do for her. She is quirky, funny and unfiltered. She says exactly what she’s thinking and doesn’t care who hears her. I loved her immediately. Her inappropriate responses are priceless and very entertaining. Very few people in her life have stuck around to see the big heart beneath her big mouth. But that’s their loss as far as I’m concerned, she’s a treasure.
I honestly am not sure if Gavin is shy or not. I don’t know if he would have eventually approached Blake on his own, but of course, she didn’t give him the chance. She was very direct and in his face, but unlike most, her approach turned him on instead of off. Yes, she was joking most of the time, but there was an underlying honesty that was his for the taking if he was willing to reach out and accept what she was offering.
After going through so many female roommates that couldn’t deal with her eccentric ways and blunt outbursts she was not even surprised when the latest one left. When her coworker Gavin mentioned his imminent homelessness she found herself offering him a room at her place. She figured she might have a better outcome with a male roommate since men seemed to have thicker skin and be less prone to emotions and tantrums. Worth a shot, right?
I must say I really enjoyed the banter between Gavin and Blake. He took her quirkiness in stride and seemed to actually enjoy her wit rather than be offended by it. Waiting for them to become more than friends was exciting and once they did, my focus moved to the mystery of Blake’s past. It was obvious that she was broken and her strange but endearing behavior was her coping mechanism. As she and Gavin started spending more and more time together he wanted to know what she was running from, but she had some very high walls in place that she didn’t want him to scale.
What started as a lighthearted romantic comedy took a turn and become an emotional journey that pulled my heartstrings. I was surprised that the authors were able to fit so much story into such a short book without the reader feeling a deficit. But, it’s been proven time and again as each new installment is released in the Misadventures series. I’m looking forward to what they have for us next. The line forms here…
I didn’t necessarily care too much for this one due to the simple fact I found it hard to care about these characters. Blake clearly had a lot she wasn’t sharing about her life and explained why she referred to herself as crazy and kept people at a distance. But we find out why literally at the end and at that point I wasn’t interested anymore. I didn’t feel the connection between these roommates either. Why it was entertaining at times, it somewhat was not my cup of tea.
Blake and Gavin were perfect for each other. They were sweet and sassy at the same time. Blake complimented Gavin, with her attitude towards and life, at the same she makes Gavin challenge himself in life. I absolutely loved it.
I’m not sure where to start with this review but I have to get it over with!
This book was really hard for me to get into. I found that Blake was a vert unusual name for a girl and often got her and Gavin mixed up. Blake was a total bitch for most of the books and I was very easy for me to hate her. Every time she had an unnecessary temper tantrum, I really wanted to find her a psychiatrist.
Gavin on the other hand, had very realistic issues. He seemed more mature than Blake. I felt that Gavin could do so much better than Blake. Personally, I dont know if I could have tolerated her as good as Gavin did. This was almost a DNF for me but I pushed through…It took me a while but I got to the end.
I adore this book! It was witty and sassy, leaves the male lead a little stunned a lot of the times, which I love. Definitely worth reading!
I cannot believe I’m 10 books into this series and the momentum is still high. Normally at this point in any series, story-lines start to get stale, but I think maybe its because the different authors and collaborations. That’s what’s kept this series fresh for me. AND, I’ve gotten to try new author’s as well, like this author duo! It’s just been a win-win for me all around.
I loved Blake! She’s my people. Very direct. Knows what she wants and goes after it. She was funny and fun and a straight-shooter. Gavin was the complete opposite which made it that much more fun to read! The story comes off as maybe being a light-hearted friends to lovers journey, but it’s really much more. It has a lot of heart and #feels to it. There’s a back-story to Blake that will tug at your heart-strings. However, the story is still an overall humorous tone. It’s not angsty, just very well developed. Blake is who she is for a reason and I was pleasantly surprised at how the authors unfolded all that story without making it angst-filled. Well done.
This may seem an odd choice to start with the Misadventures series, but the blurb sounded good & I was looking for something with humor that wasn’t extremely lengthy. I was not disappointed. Having not read anything at all by Elizabeth Hayley before, I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about the pair’s writing, but after reading this, I’ll definitely be looking into more of their work. There was witty banter, humorous spots that hit at the right time, a touch of drama and enough of the feel-good in this book to keep me entertained. I can’t wait to see what the other books in the Misadventures series are like.
Book 9 of the series, all standalones! I really enjoyed this book. Blake is a little on the weird side. She has a different personality than most and her quirks get her nowhere with people. She finds herself in a predicament and conveniently Gavin is there to fill in the space for her. They have an immediate attraction and it just builds from there. This book reminds me of a hallmark movie. You know what is bound to happen but you still want to read it and enjoy the ride. It was a great story from beginning to end and I really enjoyed all three of the books I’ve read from this series so far. I would recommend this book along with the other two I have read and reviewed so far. Which are Misadventures on the night shift and Misadventures of a college girl.
I am in love with the Misadventures series! They are fun reads and have a little something for everyone. Each one can be read as a standalone. So dive in wherever you want. But beware! They are addictive.
Blake has had a hard life. She doesn’t dwell on her past, but it does shape her going forward. She has built some pretty high walls. She knows she is unique with her own quirks. When her latest roommate up and leaves saying she’s had enough, Blake thinks maybe she will try her luck rooming with a man.
Gavin comes from a wealthy family. He’s been cut loose after he refuses to tote the family line. In need of somewhere to stay, he finds Blake and her need of a roommate. Once he meets her, he knows this is an opportunity he can’t and shouldn’t pass up!
As these two settle in, sparks are a flying. Gavin has an uncanny ability to see beyond Blake’s quirks and walls, and sees her for who she is. Blake only has to be willing to let Gavin in.
I voluntarily reviewed a gifted copy of the book from NetGalley. The rating and review are solely my opinion.
Meh. There was a lot of potential here for something really deep to develop. Sadly, it did not.
Blake is quirky and blunt. She has trouble developing relationships and no one sticks around very long. There are many reasons for that which you find out in bits and pieces, but never really get the full picture in any detail. Gavin’s life has been pretty much the opposite, his parents are too caring. They are so caring they seem like they don’t care. Again, though, that relationship is never really developed except in the most cursory way. The relationship between Blake and Gavin is friends one minute and lovers the next with no time to speak of between the two. There is much that was good, but it never went anywhere. This is the type of read that is OK for when you really don’t want to think about much, you just want to while away the time.
Love this book. I have read several of the Misadventure books and they are all awesome. They are not interconnected but there is a whole series of Misadventure books. I highly recommend this one.

I’m sorry, I really tried to get into this book . I just couldn’t. BUT I will try a different book in this series
Make room in your heart for the zany, endearing, and enthralling Gavin and Blake. Gavin trusted that when his Craiglist matched best bud of a roomie said he was paying the rent it actually meant he was paying and not using him as his fix ATM. But yet here he finds himself in the precarious situation of once again looking for a place. When his outrageously hot and sexy co-worker tells him she’s looking for roommate and to come on down he can’t believe his luck…Dear Penthouse! Blake is wacky and nutty as all get out but their chemistry is off the charts. Blake knows she has a few idiosyncrasies that tend to be a little much. She can’t keep a roommate to save her life but whatever, people come people go. When she offers Gavin the room she did it out of like 50% to help him, 40% to bone him, and 10% the rent money. Some people would say getting involved with your roomie is foolhardy, but Blake and Gavin are just Roommates with Benefits and she doesn’t do attachments anyways. But close quarters and even closer bodies will lead to inevitable complications.
I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book.
This book was a good installment in the Misadventures series. It was slow to start, but once you got the backstory on Blake, it made a little more sense and helped the story become a little more cohesive. Gavin’s level head and “let things fall off his back” temperament is perfect for Blake’s over the top, put it all out there nature. This blend lends the reader plenty of opportunities to shake their head at the characters antics.
Blake is such a unique character and I think I would’ve enjoyed the book more had we been given the opportunity to learn more about her. Gavin was the perfect counterpart to ground her quirkiness and the chemistry between them was entertaining. While I did like the book, it felt very one dimensional and I found myself putting it down several times because I had a hard time connecting with any of the characters and the story as a whole beyond the surface. Misadventures with my Roommate has great potential though and I think that the authors could make it great by expounding on the characters and fleshing out the plot a bit more. 3 out of 5 wine glasses.
