MISADVENTURES ARE STANDALONE ROMANCES THAT CAN BE READ IN ANY ORDERWinning has always come naturally for stud ice hockey defenseman Gus “the Bus” Persson. On the ice or off, he’s never had any trouble scoring, racking up goals—and girls. As the best player in his rookie class and the number-one draft pick of the Malibu Suns, he’s taking his game to the next level and is justifiably full of … level and is justifiably full of swagger.
So why does one of the Suns’ ice girls treat him like he’s invisible?
Bo St. James doesn’t have time for rookie hotshots who think their gloves don’t stink. She knows them, she works with them, she trains them. It doesn’t matter that Gus Persson is the hottest newbie she’s ever seen. She knows his type. She’s got big plans of her own, and she’s not going to let some cocky rich kid athlete keep her from her goals.
But there’s a chemistry between them they cannot deny. A lust that burns so hot, it threatens to melt the very ice on which they make their livings. The game has changed for both of them. Together, can these two play to win?

This Book is amazing! As an avid Toni reader I appreciate all of her work but this book made me go through a variety of emotions and I found myself smiling and laughing out loud at most of the story.
Let me start by saying, the hero in this book is fantastic! It appears as though he gets everything handed to him on a silver platter but his work ethic and drive showcase the kind of man he is. This is a story about the thin line between love and hate and how easy it is to assume you think you know someone based on guilt and past experiences. Bo can’t help but let her previous encounters control her opinions of Hockey players, but Gus comes in and takes on the task of proving her misconceptions wrong, and a few right. He is caring a willing to stand by Bo’s side in all sorts of crazy circumstances. I found myself laughing along with the characters as the scenes were highly entertaining.
I was drawn into this story right away and when I read about Gus’ family I was sucked in even more. It is a good example of how to love and support your children with friendship but still push them to work as hard as possible for the things they want and need. The same supportive relationship is built between Bo and Gus. They were able to laugh together, even in intimate moments and that is priceless in a relationship.
This book was better than I anticipated and Toni has already set the bar incredibly high. I loved this book and I will likely be finding myself rereading this book many times over.
I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

As an avid Toni fan, I can honestly say that this is one of her best!
She takes the time to lay the ground work, build the characters – letting you get to know them while keeping the story moving.
She took the “Misadventures” premise and ran with it. The character’s live real-life scenarios that I could totally see happening to myself, because . . . unicorn spit!!
I admit that I was distracted in the beginning by the heroine’s first name, but once that was resolved, I fell in love with these characters and their story.
I love all of Toni’s books and this will be added to those that I will re-visit regularly.
This review is for an advanced review copy. It is my unbiased, honest opinion.
5/5 Stars
I have been a huge fan of Toni’s for a long time. I love her hockey books so much and was excited to see that she was writing a hockey romance for the misadventures series. This book did not disappoint. I did not know that it would be possible to enjoy a book as much as did the Assassins series, but this one is working its way up my favorite book rankings. The characters were so easy to relate to and root for. I could not put it down! Do yourself a favor and pick up this book!
Bo St. James is a hard-working and confident woman. She works in the hockey world, but has sworn to never have a relationship with a hockey player. She will not let a player interrupt her life plans and goals.
Gus Persson is a minor league hockey player with big league dreams. He is known for having success with women and thinks that he has found his next conquest. However, he does not know that his perfect girl has no interest in even speaking with a hockey player.
However, Gus is not one to give up and while Bo wants to stay away, she just can not seem to forget him. Their chemistry is off the charts and they truly have a wonderful connection. What happens when their pasts come to light? Will they have a misadventure or a beautiful journey? This book will keep you entertained with a twist you will have to read to believe.
I loved both of main characters. Their personalities were so bright and endearing. They were a classic Toni Aleo couple. I appreciated how strong of a character Bo was and the way that Toni handled her past. It was realistic and refreshing to read. However, among the most enjoyable parts of the book were when the main characters interacted with the supporting cast. I was laughing out loud at multiple points in the story. Do yourself a favor and read this book immediately.
I loved Bo and Gus! Bo with her “I hate him but I want him” inner monologues and Gus with his refusal to be refused cracked me up. Their frequent date location (and the incidents that got them there) had me literally laughing out loud. All the characters – including supporting ones – were all multi-dimensional and very well-written. Loved Gus’s family’s relationships with each other, and the team and ice girls had some fun parts in the book (laughed when Gus asks “Is your roommate broken”?).
It was really weird reading hockey from Toni Aleo without the Assassins family, but this is definitely a do-not-miss book. I want more of Bo and Gus, even as secondary characters!
(I received an advance copy for review, but I pre-ordered the book as well).
Absolutely loved Bo and Gus. The chemistry and banter between these two is non-stop. The moment each of them sees the other, judgements are made and the intensity between Bo and Gus is enough to start a bonfire. Each of these two have their own pasts and are working through them as Bo and Gus explore what they have with each other. I loved every minute and wanted more when it was over. Bo and Gus have their ups and downs, but the all-encompassing love they have for each other is evident and makes you fall in love with the two of them.
I like hockey romances…and boy, does this one push all my guilty pleasure buttons. Toni Aleo is the mistress of this genre and she does herself proud with this one. Gus is playing in the AHL waiting to be called up to the NHL. Bo is working as an ice girl at the hockey rink while she’s in physical therapy school. Gus is immediately smitten with Bo, but Bo isn’t interested. She’s trying to get through school and she’s not interested in a relationship, especially with a rookie that she sees as a showboating, obnoxious horndog. Gus – whose nickname is ‘the Bus’ – has deserved at least part of this reputation. He’s been pretty much a “one and done” guy. Until Bo. He’s fascinated with her and the chemistry between the two of them is electric. There’s plenty of humor, too. It’s loads of fun. While Bo’s secret was easily guessed, it still kept my interest up to the very end. I found myself really hoping for just a bit more…maybe we can see them in a cameo in a future Assassins book? Pretty please?

Bo St. James made mistakes in the past and is trying to live a normal life without catching the attention of rookie Gus “The Bus” Persson who is destined for the NHL. Gus and Bo have a honest relationship where she admits that another rookie is the reason for not wanting a relationship or a one night stand. As they fall for each secrets and pasts will be revealed. Can Gus and Bo survive the impending move to the NHL or are they destined to just be ships that pass in the night.
This book is part of a series written by various authors with Misadventures of as the title. This book is a stand alone which I’m hoping Toni will write as part of a new series.
Another amazing book by Mrs Aleo!! I will start with I have never read a bad book by Toni. I instantly fell in love with both Bo and Gus. They were great characters with a great storyline, I really hope we have more Bo and Gus in the future, I was left wanting more and wanting to know what their future holds

The Misadventures Series has been a lot of fun with so many different and engaging books and Toni Aleo has added a clear winner to the stable!
Gus Persson has always dreamed of playing in the NHL. He was drafted by the Twin Cities Tornadoes, but the brass determined he wasn’t quite ready, so he’s out in California with their AHL affiliate. While he’s known for bedding a different woman every night and only spending one night with them, one of the Sun’s Ice Girls has caught his attention and he would like nothing more than to get to know her better.
For Bo St. James hockey has always been part of her life, but she has sworn off having any kind of relationship with a hockey player. She’s totally focused on completing school and working. She’s all about reaching her goals and not about letting a man influence any of her decisions.
As Bo and Gus get to know one another, Bo wants to hate him, but the chemistry they share is difficult to deny. As they spend more time together, it becomes clear that they may actually be exactly what the other needs in their life. Can they overcome things that have happened in the past and figure out how to move forward together?
I adored both of these characters. Gus was swoonworthy and he was a man that was brought up right and knew how to treat a woman even if it didn’t necessarily appear that way on the surface. Bo was a strong female character and even though she was fighting many demons from her past, it was fantastic to see her grow as the book progressed. Together these two were magical and this story illustrated that when you find your person, everything you thought you knew can be turned on it’s head in an instant.
I’d highly recommend this latest Misadventures tale!
I love all things Toni Aleo. Especially her hockey romances. But I’m going to be honest I didn’t love this book. I’m not saying I didn’t like it I’m just saying it wasn’t my favorite. And you know sometimes that’s okay because I still love her and will continue to read her books.
I really disliked Gus from the get go. Why do rookies feel the need to live up to the assumed reputation? He was a c*cky rookie and he pissed me off sometimes. Bo was right to guarded and hesitant to him being a reformed one and done kind of man. But as the book moved on Gus grew on me. Just like Bo I misjudged him knowing deep down with the parents he had there was a kid hearted soul under the playboy façade.
Toni knows how to write hockey romance. I loved the chemistry and fiery banter of these two. She will have you laughing out loud. From that first scene on the ice I knew these two would ignite. She wrote characters with emotion and real life situations. In the end you will close this book with a smile on your face.
What a great book… I received this ARC for an honest review. This was a funny read. I thought the chase would last all through the book, but of course I should’ve known Ms. Aleo would tease us with these “too hot for each other “ characters. Wow, to say I’m loving the name Bocephus for the heroine was too funny. Bo, for short, was one of the Ice Girls for the AHL Malibu Suns in California. She was working part-time and interning for the team to become a physical therapist. Bo could not stand Gus “the Bus” Persson because she thought he was a cocky rookie hockey player that chased any girl available and then dumped her after he got what he wanted.
I was surprised they connected right away, but I think Bo thought this would be a “one and done”….not. They were hot for each other once Bo got tired of missing sex and figured after they hit the sheets, she would never see him again. This was a really great read to me. I laughed just about all the way through the book. There was a lot of twists and turns but in the end I think they make a great couple. I sure hope there will be more books coming with the Suns and the Tornadoes as a series. I definitely want to read more about Bo and Gus lives.
This is the first Misadventures book that I have read and Toni Aleo did not disappoint. From Bo’s sassy attitude to Gus’s “I’m all that”, the chemistry between these two is off the charts.
Addicted and I need more!! *spoilers*
I’ve read almost every book from Toni Aleo and I have to say that this one is up there with the best. Bo and Gus are two of the best made characters that she has brought to us. They were easy to relate to and very human. That’s a big reason I love reading her books so much. It’s not about having all the money in the world and living big. They all have these beautiful, sometimes heart-wrenching, backstories that continue to pull and suck you into this world she has created.
I love that she gives you two sides of a very complicated topic that is still argued on today. Teen pregnancy. The fact that Gus’s Mom was able to conquer single motherhood and come out on top was amazing. However, when she showed another side to it, where the teen mom doesn’t feel in control of her choices and it’s thrown in her face for a long time, is so deep and well written. Things in life are never black and white, and Toni has an amazing way of bringing that out into the light.
Then on the other hand, is the child being raised by a single mother. Most believe that there are only a few choice ways for a kid in that situation to turn out, but she is able to make her own path. Which is true for most kids that are raised in such ways. I love how close Gus is to his mother, and his father. Even after everything they went through. Family is family and I love that dynamic of the story.
I will be honest with you I am a fan of this author and generally love her books and really love hockey stories so I was prepared for a good story. Immediately I was drawn into amazing characters and some hockey players who were having so much fun playing hockey and talking about the ice girls in between their shifts on the ice!
Gus and Bo (you have to get this book to learn more about her name! It is one of the best parts of the book, especially when Gus finds out!) are so cute together and have some serious sparks. They have chemistry and end up in precarious situations that land them at the ER.
While Gus and Bo were awesome, I absolutely loved how Gus called his mother to talk on the phone. His relationship with his parents was unique and those are some of the funniest parts of the book to me.
I loved how finally Gus had found a woman who he had to work to be with. She didn’t want anything to do with him. He saw her and had to have her. It might have started with a challenge, but the challenge moved to more and before he knew it he found what was missing in his life. It was then that he fought to keep her.
This book will not disappoint. It will make you wish there was more.
I was so happy when I heard Toni Aleo was going to be writing a misadventures book. I love her books and knew this would be a great read. And I wasn’t disappointed. In true Toni Aleo form, she created 2 characters who we fall for right away.
Gus “the Bus” and Bo have you laughing right from the start and it just gets better from there.
These are two characters who don’t hold back, have trust issues from their past and have a habit of sending each other to the ER. You will laugh and cry a little as you fall for Gus as Bo as they learn to trust each other.
You how some authors make you fall in love with their characters…Toni Also is one of those authors, but not only does make you fall in love with them, she makes you laugh and cry. This book was insanely good! One minute I was laughing so hard and the next
I wanted to cry for and with the characters. Not only are their names unforgettable, but you have an alpha male that has the softest heart you could imagine and a female who is determined to be independent and keep her walls around her heart. Not only does this make for an intensely captivating story but it is laugh out loud funny too!
Toni Also don’t ever stop giving us your touch of humor with stories that leave us begging for more!!
Whatever you do, do yourself a favor and read this book, you’ll be glad that you did and you might just find your new book boyfriend!!!
After reading Toni Aleo’s newest book, it has become apparent that she not only knows her way around the hockey rink but the chemistry field too. Bo and Gus, were off the charts! They not only had that chemistry between them but it was even deeper, there was a partnership. Bo and Gus brought out the best in each other and by doing so they both had major growth. Aleo’s ability to weave a story that has a great balance of humor with romance impresses me with each story I read by her.
I love this book, the writing the story the characters it all came together perfectly.
I’ve read a lot of sports books and going in I thought I knew what I was going to read but I was so wrong and especially about Gus.
Gus is the ‘rookie’ in the story, he’s the next hotshot ice hockey player he’s successful on and off the ice then he meets Bo and everything changes.
I’m calling dibs on Gus and his parents their relationship is everything, the love and support they have for each other is beautiful to read. Then there’s Gus who is such a sweetheart, he’s focused on his goals but not arrogant.
From the first time we meet Bo you know she’s different from her peers and you know she has a secret. Full disclosure I figured it out but it did not detract from the joy of reading the book.
What I wasn’t expecting was to laugh so much the back and forth banter between Bo and Gus was hilarious. There is a particular scene which I shall ever refer to as the ‘Unicorn’ that had tears running down my face with laughter.
I loved the connection between Gus and Bo and all of the characters fit perfectly in their place in the story.
A well written beautiful story.
Honest review headed your way!!!
I have read damn near everything Toni has put out and Misadventures of a Rookie jumped to my top 5! I love the dynamic between Gus and Bo. Their witty banter had me rolling the whole time. The standard these two had for a typical date was enough to leave me in stitches! (pun intended)
Bo is a strong, determined, stubborn woman. (P.s you are going to love her full name! lol)
Gus is a cocky, arrogant, hilarious sweetheart that you can’t help but love even when he is getting on your nerves. (which is probably why Bo couldn’t resist him either)
I won’t get into all the details of the book, that’s not my style, but if you are looking for a fun read that gives you all the feels and a lot of laughs than this is the book for you. The characters are very relatable and the story line sucks you in and won’t let you go.
PS I’m with the other reviewer though…. I wanted an epilogue! lol 4.999999 stars senorita Aleo!!!
***I was provided with an ARC for an honest review***
When I read the first few pages of this book, I wasn’t quite sure that I was going to love Gus like I love all of the Assassins men, but throughout the entire book Toni provided an in-depth look at the man beneath the surface and Gus the Bus ranks right up there under Jordie Thomas for me (no one will ever beat Jordie!). That’s what Toni does though, she takes you on this journey, the highs and lows of every relationship. Gus and Bo are such a relatable couple, and I don’t think anyone will be disappointed by this book!
Gus is your typical macho hockey player that puts on a good front and doesn’t let many people see the man beneath the surface. Bo is a hardworking woman determined to finish school and move on from her past. Gus is hoping for just one night of fun, but after exchanging words with the vivacious redhead he soon realizes just once may not be enough. Does Gus have what it takes to breakdown the many walls surrounding Bo’s heart? And does Bo have it in her to trust again?
The twists and turns will leave you begging for more. I devoured this book in one day because I just couldn’t put it down. Another Aleo masterpiece, and another great book in the Misadventures series!
