“A brilliant storyline with many laugh out loud funny moments and an equal amount of hot, steamy, sexy ones make this book another fabulous misadventure moment in the Misadventures Series.” ~The Book WhispererVera Woods is at her wit’s end.Her husband has run off with the nanny, leaving Vera with a broken heart, three very angry sons, and even less time to juggle the demands of family and her … the demands of family and her career. After her boys scare away a sixth replacement nanny, Vera is out of time off from work and desperately out of options. Still nursing an aching heart, she turns to an unlikely source for help―a manny.
Lincoln Scott is no stranger to family chaos. But rather than grow jaded, he has thrown his natural talents into building his own business―providing live-in childcare for families as a manny. The money is great and the perks are a blast, but when his family of six years moves to Germany and their plans to bring him along fall through, Lincoln is suddenly unemployed and aware of how much of himself he’s given to other people’s families.
Brought together by circumstances, Lincoln and Vera’s mutually beneficial business arrangement becomes complicated by the undeniable chemistry they share. Vera needs a manny and Lincoln needs a job, but they both may have found the very thing neither one had realized they needed―a whole lot more.

Misadventures is a romantic series of spicy standalone novels, each written or co-written by some of the best names in romance. The stories are scandalous, refreshing, and, of course, incredibly sexy. They’re the perfect bedside read, a ‘quick blush’ for the reader who loves a page-turning romance.

This book was truly a great work of art in writing. I love the way that the author, Toni Aleo, can create these worlds inside her head and make it completely believable that this has already happened in our world. I find myself being absorbed into this realm she creates and wanting to stay forever and never leaving. Hell, half the time I found myself wanting to reach through the pages to punch Vera’s disgusting ex-husband, Simon. I still get shocked and surprised when I look back and realized that Lincoln never did it himself either. Although that just shows how amazing he is as a person and future step-father/father. See, here I go again with imagining this happening in our world. I don’t know how Toni does it, but I’m ready for the next world she pulls me into.
I have enjoyed the Misadventures books, however this one did not wow me like some of the others have.
Lincoln is a great Manny in need of a new job. Vera is a newly divorced working mom in need of a nanny since her kids have run off the last 9. The story deal a lot with the ex husband who needs to get a clue about relationships. I would have liked for there to be more romance between the two characters. See them evolve into a relationship.
3.5 stars
“His eyes cut to mine, and I swear, I’ve never felt so damn beautiful”
That line above says it all. And Toni Aleo has written a book that is the total package: romantic, heart-breaking and wittingly funny.
Vera is going through a messy divorce, and her normally rambunctious but well behaved boys are now out-of-control. Their father has left the family home after getting their nanny of six years, pregnant. Their eldest boy knows what’s going on, and is the ring-leader for bad behaviour. Now, after they’ve driven off the ninth nanny in a short period of time, she’s at her wits end.
Lincoln’s initial intention was to teach. Somehow he fell into the role of a full-time nanny and home-school teacher for families, the last with whom he’s been for 6 years. He thought he had longer, until they were moving to Germany, and weren’t taking him with them, because their mother decided to be home full time. Having loved the kids and spent more time with them than even their parents, he’s not only misses them, he’s looking for work.
Although they’ve never met, Vera and Lincoln have two people in common. Vera’s sister, Riana is married to Lincoln’s best friend, so Riana believes that Lincoln is just who Vera and the boys need. They know him and like him already, and she thinks he’d be a great influence on them.
I loved Vera as a character. She was strong and gracious, and, she loved her boys above all else. She is so many women who have been treated badly by a husband who had promised love and loyalty, yet dished out only guilt and betrayal. Her only fault was to stay with a husband for the benefit of her boys, and I have my own issues on that. He was a disgusting pig, and didn’t deserved her.
Lincoln is an amazing man in his own right, and I loved that his values aligned so closely with Vera’s – kids first. He is seriously a unicorn in the literary world of book boyfriends. He cooks, cleans, runs taxi-duty for the kids and is a basically a teacher. Add to that, he is all kinds of hot and sexy, and built where it matters! When I came across the most cringe-worthy of moments that I’ve ever read, I choked on my mouthful of wine in shocked hilarity. Almost a case of death-by-laughter and wine! I loved it, and couldn’t believe how quickly I got to the end.
Secondary characters can enhance or detract from a book, and Vera’s sister and brother-in-law are also best friends with Lincoln. They love them, and their worry for our characters, individually, ramps up the tension surrounding their relationship. Then, when Lincoln’s nanny-family want him to join them Germany, he as to decide if this opportunity of a lifetime is what he wants after-all.
All up, this is everything I recommend as great reading in a rom-com. 4.5 Stars.
To an outside observer, Lincoln is the ultimate catch. He is undeniably good looking and seems to have everything that most people want in life. He loves children and thrives while working closely with them; yet there are times that Lincoln feels that something is missing in his life.
Vera has just divorced, which has left her to raise three boys alone. While trying to balance her career she is also now struggling to navigate the destruction left behind by her sleazy ex-husband. Managing all this is one thing, but mending her now broken and betrayed heart is almost more than Vera can handle.
Testing the limits and acting out, her boys have decisively made every nanny put in their direction to flee. So, as Lincoln is set into Vera’s direction as the new “Manny” he may just be the saving grace they have all been looking for.
This book was full of heart and tender moments, along with some emotional realism of what it is like to be a child of divorce. While Lincoln and Vera’s chemistry was instantaneous, they also seemed to be the balm that they were both looking for in one another. I highly recommend this book if you have a soft spot for men who are good with children, as I can guarantee you, Lincoln will have your heart melting.
As Always, Happy Reading!
“5/5 Beaming Brains!” – Lit-Up My Mind
Misadventures With a Manny is everything I have come to love about the Misadventures series. This is such a charming, endearing and feel good romance I am convinced heart eyes popped up as I read it.
Vera is desperate. She is newly divorced after her husband ran off with their nanny. She is angry, heartbroken and at her witts end after her sons chase off her sixth nanny. Lincoln has created a successful niche business as a live in manny. He didn’t realise how much of his life he has given to other families until his plans to move with his actual family to Germany get derailed. A chance encounter leads him and Vera together and the most adorable, charming and fabulous love story is born. Lincoln, Vera and her sons absolutely stole my heart.
I have ready plenty of nanny romances, even a few manny ones, but none had the magic or charm I found in the pages of this gem. I can not recommend this story enough. It is perfect for anyone looking for a feel good well written read.
Loved this story and characters!! As usual Miss Aleo outdid herself with this book!!
Lincoln needs a new family to love, a new family to be a care for. His previous family moved to Germany and it’s left him at loose ends. So when his best friend and his friend’s wife plead with him to help out her sister, who’s a divorced mother of three whose children have run off their ninth, that’s right, NINTH, nanny since her ex husband left her for their previous nanny. Uh huh…so when Phillip and Riana beg him to help out Vera and her three boys, whom Lincoln already knows and likes, he can’t say no. Now if only Vera will go for it. She has already said before that she doesn’t want a male nanny, excuse me, manny caring for her boys, but Riana knows Vera won’t be able to say know to Lincoln, who’s honestly the world’s greatest nanny.
Lincoln sounds like a dream come true for Vera, who’s desperately trying to keep her boys happy, plus work to provide for them, AND be there for them emotionally. They’ve been so hurt by their father, and it’s made her eldest, Charlie, act out. Lincoln just might be the answer to all her prayers. But then she meets him and he’s so incredibly gorgeous and bearded, and BIG that suddenly her long dead libido wakes up. But that’s not a good thing because Lincoln’s now off limits. She can’t hook up with her manny, can she? Should she? Will she?
I just loved this installment of the Misadventures series! Tony Aleo seriously upped the ante with her story. It’s so darn sweet, mainly because of Lincoln and the boys, and super sexy, and Lincoln and Vera are a real, heartfelt couple. The other stories I’ve read in this series have ranged from pretty much just erotica, to suspens-y, some BDSM-y, second chances, and so on. But I think that this particular story has an edge over the others I’ve read (and loved) in that it feels more well rounded and has the sweetest, sexiest hero yet in Lincoln. Add in a wonderful secondary cast in Phillip and Riana, and of course Vera and Lincoln’s boys, and what we’ve got is a 5 star read that’s perfectly executed and the character and relationship development is spot on. Toni Aleo has never let me down before (her hockey stories are some of my favorite sports romances of all time!) and I love her take on the Misadventures series.
4 1/2 stars
Vera is fresh off a divorce and trying to give her three sons some stability in their new normal. After her sons run off several nannies, her sister suggested she hire a manny. Lincoln is a hot guy who has all the skills and education to deal with young kids and run her household better then her. Linc and Vera hit it off with strong chemistry with a nice tease back and forth for awhile. I adored how the kids opened up to Linc and Vera was so in tune with them.
The characters were well developed and had depth in them to carry the plot.

Vera Woods feels as though her world is crumbling around her. After finding her long-time husband in bed with their nanny, Vera struggles to juggle her three grief-stricken sons, her career, and her new ex-husband. Broken hearted and alone, she tries her best to regain the happiness that they once had.
Upset by their parent’s divorce, Vera’s sons are determined to drive away any caregiver that she hires. Desperate for help, Vera hires her new “manny”, Lincoln Scott, who is used to family drama. His expertise in childcare helps ease the stress on both Vera and her boys. There is just one problem with Lincoln… he is drop dead gorgeous and Vera can’t keep her mind off of him.
The mutual attraction between Vera and Lincoln is undeniable and they soon find themselves falling head over heels. Can Lincoln be the one to mend Vera’s broken heart? Or will will Vera and her boys find themselves cast aside once again?
(I received an ARC of Misadventures with a Manny from Toni Aleo in exchange for my honest review.)
Once again, Toni Aleo has done a spectacular job creating a fun-filled story and characters with great personalities. Vera and Lincoln’s relationship is both passionate and humorous as they battle their lust for one-another. They both want what is best for the boys and are willing to put their feelings aside to care for them… no matter how much they may want each other. You won’t want to miss this sweet romantic comedy!
I so enjoyed Linc & Vera! It was refreshing to have a kind of twist on the boss/employee trope, and also that they didn’t fall into some “expected” categories. I was a little annoyed by the conflicting advice their (married) BFF’s were giving them, because I felt like they should be on the same page, and also I didn’t think they had the appropriate amount of respect for Vera & Lincoln.
BUT other than those small blips, I loved the story! The kids are written well & the issue of blended families was handled w/ a lot of class, which gets a big thumbs up from me! Characters & storyline get an A+! (Oh, and steamy steam, too…!)(Oh, that tea towel… *grin*) ; )
The Manny is awesome, it has it all, a beautiful heartfelt love story with wonderful characters. This book will put a smile on your face, Lincoln is the manny that comes to take care of or Vera and her three boys, he is a true gem an educated man that wants to nurture children. Vera is recently divorced from her mean emotionally abusive cheating ex-husband and her boys are suffering from the split. I loved that Lincoln is such a strong man but is tender as well and truly wants to help this family heal. I enjoyed the easy banter, flirting and slow burn as Vera and Lincoln connect and when they do lots of hot steam. I love Toni Aleo’s hockey romance books and this is just as good. Five Stars!!

This was a hilarious, fun, hot read. There were plenty of moments that had me laughing. There are also grab your heart serious. I really didn’t like Vera’s ex. He’s a real piece of work. I had some flashbacks in my childhood while reading this. I can relate to Vera’s boys. Now Lincoln, the manny, he is just yummy. I really loved him. I loved his playfulness with the boys but also teaching them how to be respectful individuals. He’s exactly who Vera and her boys need in their lives. That was another big draw for me when it comes to Lincoln the way he treats Vera and how he makes her feel about herself. He’s definitely top book boyfriend material. This book is the perfect book if you’re looking for something fun, but that also pulls at the heartstrings.
From beginning to end – I LOVED this book.
Almost immediately, this book gave me One Last Time vibes and since that still remains one of my favorite books of the year, I was all in! I loved Vera and her dedication to her children, I hated her rat bastard of an ex, and Lincoln was so unbelievably swoon worthy. I even adored Vera’s sons, her sister, and her brother-in-law/Lincoln’s best friend. The chemistry between Vera and Lincoln was incredible and her history with her ex made her such a sympathetic character – it made it really easy to cheer her on. The obstacles to HEA were real and I enjoyed the tension that they provided (though I did feel like they came to a head and were resolved rather swiftly). I also wasn’t expecting Misadventures with a Manny to be there slow burn that it was, but when we finally get to the couples first hookup, it was so worth the wait! I’ve thoroughly enjoyed both of Toni Aleo’s contributions to the Misadventures series so far and I fully plan to read her Assassins series soon! 5 out of 5 wine glasses.
I’m firing my mom as babysitter right now and finding myself a manny like Lincoln because I never knew a manny could be sexy until I read this book!
Misadventures with a Manny is not your average book for a few reasons. Vera is a divorcée with three kids and not the typical 20 something virgin you might find yourself reading about in most books. Lincoln isn’t a brooding man with tons of money who is afraid of commitment, in fact, he’s the complete opposite. Not only do we get to read about two people falling in love, we also get to see Lincoln falling in love with Vera’s three children and if that doesn’t make your ovaries hurt a little I don’t know what will!
I really felt the heartache in this book, but I also found myself giggling out loud as well as appreciating all of the heat and chemistry between Vera and Linc. Best of all, this book shows that even when you think you are at the end of your rope and not worthy of love, you can learn to love yourself and also find someone who sees the best in you.
Vera woods lives her life for her three sons, but finding her self-esteem after her cheating pig of an ex-husband remarries, is nearly impossible…that is until her new manny, Lincoln Scott, enters her life. This story is filled with steamy romance, drama, laughter and a roller-coaster of emotions. A wonderful journey of finding happiness after heartache!
Another amazing read from Mrs Aleo! I thought this book was great from the beginning to the end, I instantly fell in love with Vera and Linc, their stories may have not started out great but slowly mended beautifully once they were together 🙂 I feel like the story line was so easy to imagine yourself in the situation it caused sad tears and happy tears. You will not be disappointed one clicked this bad boy!
Vera and Linc have easily become two of my fave characters ever. This book was like reading my own life story. Cheating husband(ok mine didn’t run off with the nanny but still), having to work to provide for your kids alone, an ex who blames you for everything that goes wrong in the world. Grrr Simon is a jerk and there were times in the book I wished I could reach through and punch him. That is another thing I loved about this book. It was realistic and sucked me right in and made me feel like I was right in the book too.
When Vera is at her whits end looking for a new nanny after her 3 angry boys keep running them off, her friend suggests Linc who is a male nanny. At first Vera is hesitant but in the end she agrees and it works perfectly. Her boys love him and so does she. The chemistry between these two is instant and steamy!!
There are some twists and turns, an almost near heartbreak again, but you will love this book from start to finish believe me!! Another Hit!
Oh man, I need my own version of Lincoln. As soon as you meet Vera and Lincoln, you feel the push and pull through the pages. Vera is going through a tough time and dealing with a horrible ex-husband. Lincoln is looking for a more permanent job and doesn’t even have love on the brain. However, when circumstances change and these two need each other, the connection and emotions these characters feel pull at your heart strings. I loved the banter and glances between Lincoln and Vera throughout the entire story. This Misadventure is one of emotions, humor, and moving on. It captures your heart and the banter not only with Vera and Lincoln, but with the boys as well, just makes you laugh, cry, and happy all at once.
Lincoln, the Manny…
Can I have one PLEASE???
Lincoln is a dream comes true. He is hot, educated, great cook, kind, caring, and loves kids. Ohhh I almost forgot he is also a kid whisperer. I am telling you guys everyone needs a Manny just like him 🙂 Vera is strong, family oriented, successful and little bit of a workaholic. She has three amazing boys, Charlie, Elliot and Louis. When her dooshnozzle husband cheats and leaves his family for their nanny, kids are the ones who suffer the most. They start acting out and Vera cannot find a way to control them, she cannot stop them from acting out. Not until Lincoln, the kid whisperer, agrees to be their manny. But there is a itsy bitsy problem. From the first moment they see each other they are attracted to each other. So what they do? They decide to fight sizzling hot chemistry between them. Are they successful? Of course not 🙂 Sooooooo, they decide why not let’s just have a physical relationship and everything will be ok. However, with the time they are spending time together, they start falling one another. Is it all sunshine and rainbows? Unfortunately, no. If you are wondering, if they lived happily ever after, you need to read the book. But I can assure you, you will enjoy it.
‘Misadventures with a Manny’ is sweet, inspiring, funny, sexy, and heartwarming story, I enjoyed reading. At one point or another I was laughing, I was pissed, my heart was breaking but it was all good. I hope there is more to this story, maybe a novella 🙂
Would I recommend this book: Yes.
Would I re-read this book: Already did.
Would I read future books by this author: Yes.
I would love a Manny!!! Ashley @ Carolina Chic’s Read
OMG I loved Misadventures with a Manny! When Vera tries to pick up the pieces after her divorce, her boys have gone through 9 nannies since her ex-husband has left. Will Lincoln the Manny be the one that sticks? Lincoln is doing a favor for his best friend when the family he has been Manning for moves to Germany will it be a life changing assignment? Toni did an awesome job with Misadventures with a Manny could not put it down!!!!!!!!!!!!!
