“A brilliant storyline with many laugh out loud funny moments and an equal amount of hot, steamy, sexy ones make this book another fabulous misadventure moment in the Misadventures Series.” ~The Book WhispererVera Woods is at her wit’s end.Her husband has run off with the nanny, leaving Vera with a broken heart, three very angry sons, and even less time to juggle the demands of family and her … the demands of family and her career. After her boys scare away a sixth replacement nanny, Vera is out of time off from work and desperately out of options. Still nursing an aching heart, she turns to an unlikely source for help―a manny.
Lincoln Scott is no stranger to family chaos. But rather than grow jaded, he has thrown his natural talents into building his own business―providing live-in childcare for families as a manny. The money is great and the perks are a blast, but when his family of six years moves to Germany and their plans to bring him along fall through, Lincoln is suddenly unemployed and aware of how much of himself he’s given to other people’s families.
Brought together by circumstances, Lincoln and Vera’s mutually beneficial business arrangement becomes complicated by the undeniable chemistry they share. Vera needs a manny and Lincoln needs a job, but they both may have found the very thing neither one had realized they needed―a whole lot more.

Misadventures is a romantic series of spicy standalone novels, each written or co-written by some of the best names in romance. The stories are scandalous, refreshing, and, of course, incredibly sexy. They’re the perfect bedside read, a ‘quick blush’ for the reader who loves a page-turning romance.

Absolutely one of my favorite books in the Misadventures series! I have to admit that I opened this one with a bit or curiosity. The idea of turning a manny into a sexy romance hero seemed like a daunting task to me–but I should have known it was Toni freakin’ Aleo that we’re talking about here, and the woman didn’t just handle the task with grace, style, and sexiness…folks, she hit the damn ball right out of the park. The best thing is, she did it all with a subtlety to her prose and a respect for her characters that had me falling in love with them as true, real people that are dealing with true, real issues. My heart was aching and laughing and swooning and sighing, rooting for Linc and Vera as they fought their way past the misgivings and insecurities that would befall any normal couple having to redefine life around jobs and kids and “real life.” The relatability of this story is the core of its beautiful charm, sigh-worthy feels, and eventually, and an HEA so satisfying, I closed the book with a reluctant sigh. I seriously didn’t want it to end! Such a wonderful and well-told story. All the stars!!!
Toni Aleo will tickle your funny bone and tug at your heartstrings with this one!!!!
Vera has had her entire life upended. Her husband, the man she has loved since she was a young girl, has run off with the nanny. Now, she is a single mom with three boys, one who is an angry teenager. She has to hold down a job and find someone to watch her boys. She is at her wit’s end as she has gone threw six nannies when her sister has the perfect solution, hire her husband’s best friend, Lincoln.
Lincoln has made the occupation of being a manny an art. He has been with a family for six years when they move to Germany, leaving him unemployed. He isn’t sure what he is going to do…until the job with Vera’s family drops in his lap. It should be easy, but he wasn’t counting on lusting after his new boss.
There is definite chemistry between Vera and Lincoln. However, each of them knows what a huge mistake crossing the line would be, but I couldn’t help hoping they would. I could see how great they would be together. Vera has been underappreciated for a very long time, and she shouldn’t have been. She took control of her life and made something of it. Granted, she might have temporarily lost sight of what was important, but I could see living with her ex would cause her to need to throw her energy into something. Lincoln does such a great job of making Vera feel like she is worth something, a lot actually. This was one of those couples I couldn’t help but want to see get their HEA.
I have long been a fan of Aleo. She always has a way of pulling me into her world no matter what she writes, and this one was no different. If you are looking for a romance with the perfect combination of spice and sweetness, I highly recommend this one!
I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads, so here is my review.
4.5 stars
What do you do when your marriage is over because you ex-husband has left with the nanny? You get yourself a Manny. Someone to help with three boys that are angry and hurt because their father has left them. Vera was looking for a female nanny but after many failed attempts, her sister bring over the perfect nanny. Well he is a man, so you can’t call him a nanny he is a manny.
Lincoln is a Manny and loves what he does. He loves kids and being part of their lives. When the family he is with moves way, he has to decide what he wants to do. Does he put his degree to work or does he look for another family with children? When his best friends wife suggest he work for her sister because they really need him.
When Lincoln and Vera see each other, there are sparks but both want to deny it. Because she needs a Manny and he needs a job.
How long can they deny their feelings for each other? Will her boys have a problem with them dating? When will her ex have to say about it?
I loved the way Vera was with her boys but hated how her ex treated her when he was the one that caused the problems. This story will have you laughing and crying and you will not want it to end.
This is the third, I think, in the Misadventures series that I have read and I have loved them all. So sit back and enjoy Vera, Lincoln and the boys story, you will not be disappointed.

Loved Misadventures of a Manny!
I’ve been a fan of Toni Aleo since reading the first book I of her Assassin series.
After a messy divorce, and still dealing with a jerk of an ex, struggling to raise three boys who have been through several different nannies and just needs a helping hand.
Lincoln, who is Vera’s Brother-in-laws best friend, is out of work and just maybe the right person for the job.
The chemistry between these two was amazing. As you know, no love story is without some bumps.
Loved this book, literally couldn’t put it down and read it in one day.
One click is a must!
I loved the ‘forbidden’ chemistry between Lincoln and Vera. It was entertaining to read how tantalized by each other they were, but reluctant to take the plunge. I very much enjoyed the fact Vera did everything possible NOT to put her kids against their father or stepmom, even though it would have been easy and understandable for her to do so. It was fun to read about a male nanny, such a unique undertaking, as not typically a male world. I was amazed at his ability to intervene when it’s appropriate, keep silent when it is not and keeping his own feelings out of the equation; all in a noncombative way!
I had issues with Simon’s character. He would use the kids to get his way or to strong arm Vera into cooperating; despite his claims to not want to cause more chaos for them then they were already experiencing. It seems like the Simon in chapter one is vastly different than the Simon in the rest of the book and the contradictions in how Vera claims he’s a good father, his claim to have his kids best interest at heart – though I don’t see any of that in his actions.
The writing, the plot was all decent. Overall a pleasant read, I just felt like there was a real disconnect in Simon’s character as it is written.
A manny is the answer
Vera and Lincoln’s story had me laughing, teary eyed, mad as hell at the ex and fanning myself from the steamy interludes. I finished this story in one day. I was so invested that I couldn’t stop until I got to the end. HEA. Highly recommended.
3.5 Rubber Ducky Stars, bumped to 4. Cute, quick, entertaining, and pretty darn funny. The characters were easy to follow and the story is pretty typical. Vera is newly divorced after catching her husband cheating with the nanny. Is it the first time? Well, the nanny part is a first. The cheating part is far from the first. She should’ve dumped him long ago. However, she was staying in the marriage for their three boys. She is now free, fighting to gain her confidence back, and figuring out the almost single parenting thing. She needs help. Her ninth nanny just quit. The boys are acting out and terrorizing every single one until they quit. Vera is at her wit’s end.
Along comes Lincoln, the manny. He has a teaching degree, but really, really likes the freedom that homeschooling and watching kids give him. He loves kids. They love him. But suddenly he finds himself unemployed. The family he thought he had at least ten more years of manny-ing for has moved to Germany and left him behind. Then he hears about Vera and knows he’s needed again.
This is pure entertainment and brain candy. It was just what I was looking for.
Misadventures with a Manny (Misadventures, #14) was a great read by Toni Aleo. Vera was just left by her husband for the nanny. She is broken-hearted and her three sons are left angry. Her sons scared away all six replacement nannies and Vera can’t stay home with them. Her sister and brother-in-law suggest his friend, Lincoln, a Manny. When Vera and Lincoln meet there is an instant attraction that they try to fight. I really enjoyed reading Vera and Lincoln’s story and can’t wait to read more by Toni Aleo.
A cute little twist. I wouldn’t necessarily read it again, but it was an OK way to kill a few hours.
This was my first read from Toni Aleo and was definitely worth it. It was short and subtle at the same time. The chemistry between Vera and Lincoln was definitely swooning. Absolutely hated Vera’s ex.
All in all I was very satisfied and happy reader. Thank you.
Great read and great characters. Thank you.
Just loved everything about this book. Good characters and plot, interesting. Read it in 2 days and archived it to read again down the road!
I can’t help but love this realistic single mom type of story. When it is so well written, funny, swoon-worthy, heartfelt, & touching it’s almost too much!
Lincoln Scott – Manny Extraordinaire!
Vera Woods – Newly single mom of 3 boys.
This was a bittersweet book.
There were so many hot and steamy thoughts going through both Vera and Lincoln’s minds, however, at the same time, both were having disturbing thoughts of wonder.
Simon…Vera’s ex-husband, she needed to literally kick his ass up one side and down the other, for the crap he continues to throw her way. The accusations he makes about her are horrendous.
Through it all, Lincoln stands the Vera’s side, supports her, cheers her, and secretly loving her and her boys. Does Vera return any of those feelings? I’m definitely hoping for a happily ever after between Lincoln and Vera. And of course I’ve got my eye peeled for my own, Lincoln to appear. *swoon*
Hoorah! Toni Aleo…Misadventures With A Manny, was phenomenal, and worthy of 5 stars with many recommendations.
This is priceless !
I loved everything about this story! Except for Simon, he is the perfect jerk. Lincoln stole my heart from the get go! Vera is the woman I strived to be as a single mom. If I had had my own Lincoln it would have been amazing! Toni Aleo is now in my list as a favorite author.
Everyone knows that there is nothing sexier than a man that cleans… except maybe if he’s good with kids too… I fell head over heels for Lincoln and Vera. A very fun, sexy and heartfelt read! 5 stars!
In all honesty I have to admit that I am a huge Toni Aleo fan. I absolutely love her Assassins Series. I have read a couple of her non hockey books as well, and adored them. So I was extremely excited to be chosen to review this book. Since I am a fan of Aleo’s I have a certain standard that I hold her too. Misadventures with a Manny definitely met that criteria. It was humorous, sexy, and hot just like Aleo has become known for.
Vera feels as though her whole life has come crumbling down on her. She’s losing a part of herself or so it feels like. She has lost her husband to a younger woman, to someone who was closest to her, to someone she trusted her children with, to the nanny. Simon and Vera had been together since high school. You can feel the pain and anger that Vera is experiencing and you can also feel the fight of doing what is best for her children and being the bigger person.
Needing help due to her busy career Vera is looking for someone to help her with the kids. In walks Lincoln and her whole world changes.
Watching a strong woman rediscover herself and rise from the ashes and seeing her find her happiness is breathtaking. I highly suggest this book and any of Aleo’s others. She always writes strong women and panty dropping hot men.
absolutely fantastic … from start to finish.
I fell in love with both Vera and Linc the minute they hit the page. Their story put a smile on my face and warmed my heart. And don’t get me started on the boys! I don’t have any details to give to back that statement up. I keep rolling thru the story in my mind to see what I can and cannot mention and I just don’t want to say a single thing about the plot LOL I want you to be just as happy as I was every time I turned the page.
I do want to say one thing. I’ve been a fan of the Misadventures since the start, and I have enjoyed them tremendously but this one was just more. It was sweet and sexy and romantic. It was fun and exciting and a little bit thrilling at times. It just felt good!
I love these misadventure books. This is another amazing one. Toni did an amazing job with this story line especially regarding the kids. It was gripping sometimes heart wrenching but a great well written enjoyable book. I hated Simon. He was hurtful and just not a nice guy. Lincoln is yummy and wonderful . I absolutely loved his character and how he acts with the kids.Just a great story. Highly recommend reading this one
I’ve enjoyed reading these Misadventures books it’s introduced me to new authors. One of the new authors was Toni Aleo, I’ve heard of her before but was just not sure where to start with her books. Getting this book helped to decide if I like her style of writing without committing to a whole series or starting mid series. Lincoln was such a great character, not necessarily someone you would think would be a manny but was actually amazing. I work at a school and man do we need more men like Lincoln!! And Vera, there are soooo many women out there just trying to make it work and be everything to everyone and Vera embodies that. She put a voice to those single mothers out there that feel like they’re failing at life. These two characters made this story so beautiful! I’m definitely going to check out more of Toni Aleo’s books.
