But as Abby soon learns, if she thinks she … thinks she can indulge her innermost desires with Lucas without giving him her heart, she’s dead wrong.

Hot. Spicy. Full of sex love and music!! I didn’t want this book to ever end. The chemistry was mind blowing. The heartbreak was soul crushing. I lived and loved through this book.

Full disclaimer this book is not for the faint heart . It’s extra rated “R” at first I wasn’t fully prepared. The story is very unique once I got past the sexual content I really enjoyed the story line and where it lead. Overall I’m excited to read the rest of the series. I love that I can read the books in any order so on to my next pick!

Abby Medford has always loved working on the nightshift at the Rockford Hotel. The peace and quiet- for the most part- give her peace to study her law books. Which she thinks is stupid, because that isn’t the career she wants to have. It’s what her parents WANT her to have.
When hot rockstar Lucas Ford slides into the hotel for the penthouse suite, Abby can barely contain her fangirl excitement. Lucas Ford is her idol, her teenage crush, the man of her dreams! He exclusively asks for Abby to bring him room service for the week that he is there. Obliging, Abby quickly realizes that her quiet nights are soon gone and quickly filled with Lucas’s sexy, erotic, intense games.
Abby agrees to play as Lucas’s sexy muse, even for a week. What she doesn’t realize is that she soon loses her heart to her hero. But will he return her affections, or is he just toying with her emotions?
I found another winner in the Misadventures series. Not only was this super HOT, but the emotions had me tearing up. I loved this book SO much!
Abby was a very interesting character. On the outside, she could easily be mistaken for a grade school teacher, but deep down that girl was more than a sex kitten… she was practically a goddess when it came to tangos in the sheets. And though she may look mousy, she has no qualms about speaking her mind and putting you in your place. Especially when it comes to a rude and self-entitled rock star who walks in and looks down his nose at her.
Her sass and outspoken nature breathes life into this rock god whose had his fill of the fame and contract obligations. The sexual tension and chemistry these two had was off the charts and totally had my glasses fogging up.
Not only did this book get me tingly in my girly bits, but it made this girl’s heart warm with all kinds of feels. Watching these two characters find themselves in each other and getting the freedoms they so desperately wanted. It was a beautiful story!
I love a good rock star romance, and this one had the makings to be a little bit original, which it definitely was. It took a turn quite quickly, not going down the path I’d expected, but in a good way. As I said, definitely an original story. The sex scenes were quite spicy, and I liked just how honest Abby was. This was my first book by Lauren Rowe, but I am sure I’ll be back to read more. The ending was also quite a good one. Totally felt the bit of if you love something, set it free. And if it loves you, it will come back, and their love totally worked that way. A sexy, quick read. I want to point out that while this is part of a series, each book in the series is completely different characters that have nothing to do with any other book. Not only that, but almost every single book is written by a different author, while there may be a few by the same author, but again, all standalones. Which works well for me, as some of the stories don’t sound like ones I’d enjoy at all, so this way I won’t feel bad about skipping those.
Misadventures on the Night Shift is a sultry and fast paced little tale that is certain to rock your world! It’s naughty, nice, and good for the heart, highly recommend!!
Abby and Lucas are rockin n rollin something quite fierce in the wee hours of the night in this scintillating naughty tale. Abby has been told that old adage about nice girls and urges for years and her parents and their mandated therapy made her feel abnormal and unhealthy. So she tries to resist temptation and follow the soul sucking path they have drawn up for her as that is what is expected of her. When the literally embodiment of every her teenage fantasy walks into her hotel for the Penthouse suite she is once again thrown into temptation turmoil – that is until Lucas Ford opens his mouth and literally proves that he believes he’s God’s gift! Lucas sold his soul to his record company when he was a wet whelp with no business signing away his future especially when it concerned his artist freedom. Now he just needs to crank out one more album and he will be free of their clutches but the music will not come and he is hopelessly adrift. When he melts down at a show and shows up at a the designated hotel to hopefully get some writing done he is met with an avenging angel assassin that flips his world on its axis. Abby lights up his world in technicolor with her attitude, beauty, smarts, and humor. She inspires him like he hasn’t been in years and now he just needs to convince her to play muse to him to help break his chains. He thought she would just be a tool he used to create but she proves to be more vital than he could possibly realize. Rock-n-roll hoochie koo Yes Please!
I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book.
I just put Misadventures on the Night Shift down. Had life not interrupted I would have read it in one go!
Abby is a law student by day/receptionist by night. LUCAS FORD (yes he needs all caps) is a rock star and the lead in every fantasy Abby has ever had since the age of fifteen. Lucas checks in to Abby’s hotel and the story begins… There is chemistry, there are sparks and definitely no holding back!
“If you’re truly sorry, you can get your VIP rock star butt* down here and apologize to my face like a gentleman, or else you can go to mother effing* hell.”
This is a shorter book, the build up is not very long. But still I don’t think Lauren Rowe compromised her story. You got to know the characters quickly, and I for one fell in instaLOVE.
As it is with Lauren’s books, you get funny dialogues, you get the feels and in this on you get more heat than usual. Trust me, this is on the spicier end of the scale, and Lauren is good at that too!

Wow! This may be the favorite of all the Misadventure books so far, knocking down City Girl and Super Hero which I really enjoyed. This book was very steamy and downright HOT. I loved Abby and Lucas and their chemistry was great. Yes all these books romances progress pretty fast, but I feel like this one had the right pacing. The story was really fun and sometimes lighthearted and funny. But I also got to know enough about the characters as well. I just really loved this book and if you really want to enjoy this book I’d suggest listening to the audiobook which was so damn hot and narrated by Lauren Rowe herself. Let me tell you that she straight up killed it.
Favorite Quotes:
I lost my virginity to it… It would have been a fantastic memory for me if only he’d lasted past the first chorus.
For a long beat, Lucas brazenly looks me up and down like he’s deciding whether to purchase me from a pirate-bride auction.
“I knew he didn’t come onto you,” she whispers.“ But I just figured that’s because you’re you. I mean, no offense, but you look like you’re going to sell him Thin Mints.” “No offense taken. I love Thin Mints.”
I try to chuckle breezily but, surely, I sound more like a llama with bronchitis.
My Review:
This book took me a bit outside of my comfort zone for a stretch but realigned to provide a sweet HEA. The premise was interesting and entertaining and the story between the incendiary sensual scenes and licentious musings was an intriguing and captivating tale laced with witty snark. But, oh my! These characters could make a porn-star blush and had superhuman stamina. If the book had included a product placement for vitamins it would have made the company buckets of cash as everyone would seek out the magical elixir promising this enviable level of supernatural endurance.
I scored a free hardback copy of Lauren Rowe’s Misadventures on the Night Shift in my swag bag at an author group signing last year…a signing which allowed me to meet Ms. Rowe and have my freebie signed by her. Yay!! I had never read anything from this generous author before so I had no idea what to expect. I certainly didn’t expect the level of naughtiness in this novel, especially with the fairly innocent cover art and titles in this series of standalones. Misadventures on the Night Shift is part rock star romance, part erotica/menage, and part non-fairytale ending which I personally appreciated. Don’t worry, it’s certainly a happily ever after for our heroine but not in the way you would expect, and that absolutely earned Ms. Rowe some of my respect. Overall, I liked Misadventures on the Night Shift. I liked some aspects more than others so it pretty much evened out in terms of my three-star rating. It was a fast and fun read, and I look forward to continuing the Misadventures collection.

I liked this better than Misadventures of a City Girl.
I was dying to know about her secret past and it was what I figured.
Her so called friend and coworker really got on my nerves. Abby was way too nice to her! All she did was give her backhand compliments.
I thought the idea that Lucas came up with for Abby to help him write music again was far fetched, but I guess it worked for the book and the ending.
I thought they had really good chemistry together and their time together was pretty steamy. However, there wasn’t really much character depth to me.
All in all, it was steamy and ended in an HEA. If you enjoyed the rest of the series you will like this as well.
This book is awesome. It moves fast and the characters are very likable.
Whoa! That was one of the sexiest reads! Wow! This is the first time I have read this author and I will certainly be checking out her other work! Her sex scenes just about set my iPad on fire! The reader should be aware that there is a ménage scene, MFM.
This is the sixth book in the Misadventures series, they are all standalones. This book is so much more than the sexy scenes. Don’t get me wrong those scenes are awesome, but there is a terrific story woven in. The story is about learning about yourself, about what you want in life, what’s important in life and a lot about love. There are funny scenes, touching scenes, very sexy scenes and then the scenes that my heart hurt for all those involved. I loved Abby, she was fierce and Lucas was delicious in all his rock star glory!
If you want incredibly sexy read with a great story, then give this book a read!
WOW!!!I haven’t had the pleasure of reading a book by Lauren Rowe before and I am kicking myself as we speak becuase holy crap!!! This book was addicting, and full of so much eotions, angst, and oh boy the sex?!?! Be prepared for some off the charts sexy as hell scenes.
I absolutely loved how even though she has been crushing on him since she was a teen she didn’t let him walk all over her. He has his own stuff to work out and it the fact that she is so honest and full of fire draws him and he can’t get enough. He comes up with a crazy plan that could leave a couple of hearts broken when all is said and done.
The ending to this book was absolutely perfect. Lauren Rowe did such a great job with this book. It has quickly jumped up on the list of one of my favorite books!!! I have to read more by this author ASAP!
I keep wanting to love this series but so far the books have been alright this one is no different. There is so much that could have been done with Abby but it didn’t happen. The story wasn’t awful but because I enjoy a stronger female, like she started off as, I was disappointed that the author didn’t make her and them as a hole stronger. The story was hot and had some pretty passionate scenes I just wanted more from the character, but that doesn’t make it a bad story.
Self-absorbed Rockstar and seemingly straight-laced hotel clerk share their erotic fantasies in USA Today and internationally bestselling author Lauren Rowe’s contribution to the Misadventures series, Misadventures on the Night Shift.
Abby Medford works the night shift as a hotel clerk, a job that allows her time to study for her law classes. She has a past that she has overcome, and she doesn’t want to end back in that place. But when her teenage celebrity crush from years ago, who is still her celebrity crush, checks in to the hotel unexpectedly, her past urges fight their way free. There is just something about the arrogant a** that revs her up and destroys all her hard-earned stability.
“Oh, good lord. This is intense. And side note? I’m pretty sure if Dr. Carlson were here, she’d tell me this isn’t a ‘healthy choice’.”
Lucas Ford has had a s*** week. A sex tape and meltdown on stage has led to his forced check in at a hotel in the middle of the night. If that isn’t bad enough, the stuck-up clerk cites the law to him as if he cares. He needs to write a new album ASAP but lacks inspiration until the feisty prude brings him room service and then lets him have it. Suddenly he is beyond inspired and wants her as his muse for his entire stay. What’s the harm in a little bit of roleplay and fun?
“Abby the A**-kicker kicked my a** without holding back and bam! The most bada** song in the history of the universe popped out like I’d ordered it from a vending machine.” He laughs. “It was the damnedest thing ever.”
I like that Abby had a past and it wasn’t the normal kind of messed up past that you see in a lot of books. In my opinion there wasn’t anything wrong with Abby and her past, just some of her decisions. But who hasn’t made a bad decision at least once in their life. I hate that her decisions made her feel she couldn’t be herself, but that made her relatable. So many people, myself included, conform ourselves to what is expected. Abby’s character and the growth into being herself really brought home how hurtful conformity is to a person’s health. We should always feel free to be ourselves, no matter what others think.
“One day you’ll figure out how to be you out there in the real world and not just with me. And that’s when you’ll conquer the world.”
Lucas is my favorite type of male character. Arrogant grumpy Rockstar who has a hidden fun and sweet side. I loved the way he baited Abby into their arguments. He saw it all as a game and just wanted to have fun, but he grew from his time with Abby and I loved watching that growth. I do have a teensy complaint concerning Lucas, I wanted to have his POV for some of the story. I wanted to be inside of his head when the songs appeared. I wanted to know his thoughts about Abby, Camden, the sex tape, the meltdown and just everything that was happening in his life.
“So this is what unrequited love feels like, huh? No wonder there are so many songs written about it. It’s torture.”
Besides the Pov another small very opinionated complaint is that I felt the ending was sort of rushed. I loved the pace of the book while they were at the hotel, but after that it was sporadic and a little too fast. I think this is a book that I would have liked to end after their time at the hotel. Yes, I wanted a cliffhanger. It would have made for a great start to a duet or trilogy. I enjoyed Abby and Lucas and wanted to experience every minute of their time together and apart.
I really loved this book and would love to see more from Abby and Lucas, maybe even Camden or the rest of the band we didn’t get to meet. I would love to read more about Danica too. I feel she has a heartbreaking story to tell. This one gets 4.5 secretly dirty stars!!!
I loved this book! It started out making me giggle, and then it got me all hot and bothered. After that it gave me all the feels. Lucas and Abby have some of the hottest sex I’ve ever read about, and also some of the most heartfelt moments. Although they each have some epic life issues, they don’t rely on the other to fix them. They gain strength from each other, sure, but they slay their own dragons and come back together healthier and happier. I loved watching these characters come into their own.
Lauren Rowe writes her books with such heart and humor they are truly a joy to read.
This one was captivating right from the beginning! I found myself laughing and gasping as I was reading and turning the pages as quickly as I could. There was plenty of heat but also a great story to back it up. Two souls with their own demons ultimately find a way to bring peace to each other. However, the best part was the ending. This one will keep you guessing at how it is going to end up until you get to the end. I was very happy with this one and recommend it.
