Misadventures is a romantic series of spicy standalone novels, each written or co-written by some of the best names in romance. The stories are scandalous, refreshing, and, of course, incredibly sexy. They’re the perfect bedside read, a ‘quick blush’ for the reader who loves a page-turning romance.

It’s been a bit since I’ve read a title from Sierra Simone and holy hot cheeks! I forgot just how gritty and dirty she makes her characters get. It took me no time at all to get wrapped up in Jace and Cat’s story at all.
The first time they met I could feel the sparks flying. It didn’t take them long to give into what their bodies were feeling. But what neither expected was the connection that wasn’t on a physical level. There were just a few problems, at least on Cat’s end.
Jace had no problem with their age difference, he saw the woman under the ice. The woman who had loved and lost and built herself back up the best she could. And while Jace was younger, he had an old soul that saw that hurt and pain and gave it a soft place to land.
When a break in the case they’re working comes, it was Jace who ended up in the line of fire. It brought all of Cat’s fears right back to the surface and it was all she could do to hold it together. Full of heart, danger and heat (lots and lots and lots of heat), Misadventures in Blue was full throttle from page one. I didn’t want Jace and Cat’s deliciously dirty story to end.
Short and sexy the Sierra Simone way. Detective Cat Day finds herself working with the younger and exceptionally hot rookie Jace Sutton. There’s an instant attraction between these two but Cat isn’t looking for a relationship but maybe she could be persuaded to indulge in a little jiggy jiggy with Officer Jace. As the story develops and the investigation draws to a close they find the attraction has grown from lust to love. Will the tragedy from Cat’s past stop her moving forward or will she have a future with Jace. Well, it’s worth reading to find out. Sierra Simone doesn’t disappoint on the storyline and the sizzle factor is high. She knows what we like and if Jace Sutton isn’t on your to-do list he certainly should be.
I loved how fast this book started off. You knew who the book was about and it had already started getting steamy by chapter 3. I enjoyed how relatable the characters were in the sense that they weren’t some millionaires and they were actually risking a lot by being together. The risk (of being together and their job) and emotional debate kept the suspense going, keeping me from being able to put the book down. I laughed, I cried, and I was completely enthralled by this book!
A change from what I usually read and I gotta say that I love it. Although I wanted to slap the hell of Cat for not being able to see that Jace was everything that she needed and that he was willing to work for her love.
Jace is really every girl/woman would ever want… I really love every page of there misadventures and wouldn’t mind reading a sequel of them!
Oh what a story! I loved this book and had a hard time putting it down. The characters, the story line, the chemistry was all out of this world. This book had me hooked and on the edge of my seat from start to finish. I love that this story has the leading lady as the older one and the man is the young one. Too often it’s the other way around and this was a good change!
A must read book for sure!

Misadventures in Blue is the latest installment in the Misadventures Series and a sexy treat from Sierra Simone.
An age-gap, workplace romance Jace & Cat’s story is a quick & easy read with an off the charts steam level. Cat is significantly older, with a closed-off heart and Jace is a rookie cop who just moved back home after ending his time in the army. She sees their age difference as a hard limit, he sees it as a turn on. But neither can deny their chemistry.
While I know these books are shorter reads, I felt like their relationship was a little too fast-paced. We are treated to lots of sexy times, however, we don’t really get much else between the two. With the short timeline, it was tough to really believe there was more than just fun between them. While I did enjoy it, I think it would have been better in a full-length book, with more time to develop their relationship and storyline.
Leave to Sierra Simone to take what she undersold as a breezy, dirty cougar romp and turn it into this gorgeous, heart felt story – with this forbidden love quality. Being in Cat’s head just tore at my soul. Sierra absolutely captured the emotional turmoil of being a woman and and professional and a “grown up” enriching her story with such poignancy, I won’t soon forget it. Jace is no boy toy either. He’s such an old soul, so elemental and world weary. The sex was incendiary – it was like they were trying to reduce their feelings for one another to ash – ash that could be swept away and ignored. But it doesn’t work that way in Sierra’s world.
She’s given us another story that you just want to wrap yourself up in.
It’s one of my favorite contemporary romances of 2019.
I adore Sierra Simone. Her brain! How does she come up with all she does?! This was the first “Misadventures in..” book I had read and now I need to read them all. I went in blind only knowing it was a story about a police detective. I devoured this book in a few hours. I loved Cat and Jace. It’s an age gap love story. Cat is the “older” being in her late 30’s while Jace is in his middle 20’s. They also work together on the police force. Cat is a very strong, smart, kick ass detective who is also very endearing and beautiful. As soon as they called her the Ice Queen I wanted to know all about her. I connected with her. When Jace looked at her I wanted to be her. Jace is my type of man in every way. Good lord he was smoking hot! I loved how strong and commanding his was. I loved his protective nature and how he loved Cat. Their chemistry was so so intense. I appreciate the realness Sierra’s books always have and the journeys they take us on. Highly recommend!
Misadventures in Blue was just the amazing read I’ve been craving. This fun, sexy, and emotional age gap romance had me hooked from the first page. I loved the sparks that flew between Jace and Cat and how no matter how hard they tried to fight them giving in was inevitable. Cat’s doubts pulled at my emotions and made me empathize so much more with her character. I wanted to hug her tight and then make her see what was hers for the taking. There was so much more to Jace than met the eye. An old soul with a huge heart he had me swooning before I even realized it. That’s not even taken in to consideration his dominant nature and naughty mouth which were both pluses in my eyes. Misadventures in Blue is a definite new favorite of mine from this fantastic series.
I’m going to preface this by saying that I would read anything by Sierra that includes her shopping list if that were a thing. So, it’s no surprise that I thoroughly enjoyed this book. While this story is quicker than some of her other’s and most definitely has a different feel to it than perhaps Thornchapel Series or her Camelot Series it doesn’t diminish from the overall quality of the book. Her words are magical pulling you into the story and holding you captive tell the end.
“I don’t know about the ice part, but the queen? Yes, I can sense it from here.”
Cat is closed off from her emotions due to a tragic past. Those around her call her the Ice Queen for this reason. She is headstrong, smart and determined. She lives and breathes her job with not much room for anything else. This includes friendships and relationships. But then she meets Jace and their chemistry is instantaneous and off the charts HOT! She also happens to be 13 years older than Jace. Hello cougar status. I wasn’t sure if I’d like that aspect to be honest. But I shouldn’t have even questioned this as Sierra once again showed me what I didn’t even know I wanted.
“The flare of ownership I began to feel was so powerful, so urgent, that I could barely breathe. ”
Jace may be young be he is 100% Alpha. He is strong-willed and decisive. He meets Cat and is determined to show her what she needs. I loved how he was with her. He could read her from the start and knew what she needed without having to ask. He becomes possessive of her from the first meeting and his need for her only continues to grow as the story progresses (insert all the swooning). Cat tries to stay away due to their differences in age and him being a cop as well. But their connection is undeniable and could not be stopped.
“She looks expensive. Cultured. And I’m the man who gets to bite and bind and dishevel it all. I’m the man who gets to make her mine.”
Sierra has created a wonderfully quick, dirty read that hit’s all the marks. This book will have you swooning while also needing a change of panties. With Sierra’s signature erotica in throughout marking her as Queen. I blew through this book in one sitting and within a couple hours. I liked this story so much I wish there was more. I highly recommend this you will not be disappointed.
Misadventures In Blue by Sierra Simone was hot and steamy and everything nice! Wow! Just wow! Senior Detective Cat Day has one set rule she never breaks. Don’t date cops. She learned this one the hard way. But when Jace Sutton enters her life, he stirs things in her she cannot deny. But there is so much standing in their way, right?
Cat is older, experienced and knows what heartbreak is like. Jace may be younger, but he is strong, determined and ready to fight for what he wants. Their chemistry was undeniable instant and steamy and together they were explosive. A quick, sexy and charming story!
4.5-stars. Read and reviewed for Sultry Sirens Book Blog.
Happy reading!
Jace is a fairly new cop. When he is brought in to help with a series of robberies he can’t help but notice the detective in charge Cat. Cat is still healing from the loss of her fiancé. She wants more than most guys can deliver. After a steamy night with Jace she can’t resist him.
Hot and steamy with light BDSM elements. I loved the older lady/younger guy dynamic. Plenty of angst within a great story. Well written, steamy fun!!!
This was my first book from Sierra Simone and I was super excited once I got my hands on it. Hot cop, forbidden romance, age gap with an older female? Yes please! Once I read the book, in the end, it was not for me but there is no denying what a great writer Simone is.
First off, she knows how to get you all hot and bothered. If you are looking for something hot, intense and erotic, Sierra is your girl. The sex was off the charts and the author has a way of bringing out the characters’ emotions, thoughts, fears and passions to help you understand them. That is something I appreciate.
Cat is a detective nicknamed the Ice Queen by her peers. Cat, unfortunately, lost her fiance in the line of duty and has sworn off dating cops but she instantly lusts for Jace, the younger new rookie cop, the moment they set eyes on each other. That same night leads to a one night stand that both can’t forget.
Cat hasn’t felt this alive and wanted for years but her fears and insecurities of their age difference, the dangers of their job, and Jace’s recklessness as he craves excitement on the job leaves her wondering if they can have a happy future together. Jace may be young but he is mature for his age and is smitten with Cat right off the bat. Age is not a factor to him and he will do anything to make Cat realize just how much he loves her, despite her fears.
With all that said, I just couldn’t connect with the characters as their relationship started off abruptly and I felt the chemistry and their connection was all based on what was going in the bedroom. I would have loved for their relationship to have been explored outside of the bedroom more and watch it grow. However, I definitely recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a steamy, cop romance.
I received an arc of this title in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.
I read this book in one sitting because I enjoyed it so much! This is a fun romantic story compare to some of Ms. Simone’s other series, which I also totally love. Detective Cat(herine) Day is known as the “ice queen” around the precinct since her finance died while working a case with her 9 years ago. She is a top rate detective and has been assigned to work the case of a series of burglary of medical offices where the only thing stolen are TVs.
Rookie Jace Sutton answers a call of a burglary alarm going off in a medical office. After he observes the crime scene, he contacts his superior to update her and to also let her know that Detective Day should be called in since this relates to her cases.
There is instant chemistry and lust between Cat and Jace so we get to see some action right away. They are just perfect for each other other than the facts that Cat has decided she doesn’t get personally involved with other cops and Jace is quite a bit younger (13 years) than she is. As these two fight the physical attraction between them, it is fun to read how Jace is acting like the more mature one in the relationship. When things take a turn into serious, Cat is scared and think that Jace deserves to live the life of a young man, sow his oats, and then settle down with a family.
I love how even though there is an age difference between these 2, Jace doesn’t really notice the age difference because he falls for the person that Cat truly is. A near tragic event has Cat running scare until she realizes that Jace knows what he wants and not just want her for the now.
This was such a fun read! I love these Misadventures books, they always seem to hit just the right spot, that not enough books hit. This one was a fun, sexy read with an older woman and a hot, young man! Put that hot young man in a uniform, and I am ALL THERE!! I loved it, read it in one night and wanted more!
Forbidden. Steamy. Addictive.
This is what I would describe this book.
Misadventures in Blue by Sierra Simone touches on the very hot and steamy forbidden, but amps it up with so much emotion, and from that, you get the whole package.
This book is hot, short and sexy. Jace and Cat’s relationship pretty much picks up from the beginning and the energy picks up more and more throughout. Just like every other book by this author, the steaminess is in tenfold. Another book to run a cold shower for.
I loved the emotional aspects of this book. It made the characters feel more relatable and real. It was nice to see them underneath everything, and I loved how that strengthed their relationship.
As for Jace and Cat, Damn!!! In the case of Jase, I need me to find one of him!
Misadventures in Blue is a hot, sexy book with a lot of depth and poignancy. It was an incredibly addictive read, and I would highly recommend it.
Overall Grade:
There is this strange dichotomy with Sierra Simone’s writing voice. In her series books, whether it’s the New Camelot Trilogy or her newest offering, The Thornchapel series, there is an academic nature to them, something that is almost didactic. Implicitly, she’s teaching us about some social construct that’s meant to challenge and titillate us. Many have commented on her newest series, The Thornchapel Series, that they need a dictionary while reading her book, which is oftentimes true. But she challenges us with a voice that is heavy in its language and style.
Something else is manifested in her Misadventures books. Whether you’ve read Misadventures with a Professor or the menage Misadventures of a Curvy Girl, she is still didactic, she is still trying to point us to a lesson of sorts, but that writing voice is less academic and more common. And it’s intriguing, at least to this writing instructor.
I love her Misadventures books. Yes. I’ve read them all. But her newest story, Misadventures in Blue, has a message that sits more heavily with this reviewer. This story involves Jace and Cat. Cat is a distinguished detective whose case is puzzling. The book begins with a crime scene of which Jace is the first responder. He is attentive and thoughtful in his work, and he calls it in to his supervisor because he believes it affects Cat’s investigation. At this point, he has never met her, but her reputation precedes her: she has been deemed the “ice queen” for her stoicism in the face of trauma and on the job. On meeting her, Jace and Cat feel a strong chemistry, and this book tells the story of their journey to each other. It’s complicated and angst-ridden because Cat is thirteen years older than Jace, and she has already lost the love of her life in front of her own eyes. These are complications to them finding their happily ever after.
So, I said that this Misadventures book connected with me the most because this is a romance about vulnerability. Cat is the epitome of strength. She’s a “ball-buster” for lack of a better term, and she holds her place against any man on the job. She’s intelligent, intuitive, and intentional. It’s what makes her the best. And she is the best. However, it also keeps a wall built around her heart. When a woman has to gird her heart against tragedy and compete with men, she oftentimes loses her ability to be vulnerable. Relationships require vulnerability, and therein lies Cat’s issues within the story. In order to accept Jace, she has to break down her walls and allow him into her heart. A woman with strength struggles with that because it feels cataclysmic. It feels broken, and Simone does a beautiful job of creating this in Cat’s character.
Along with the characterization of Cat, she offers us Jace. This is the second older woman/younger man book I’ve read in the past few months, the first being Vi Keeland’s All Grown Up. What that book has as well as this one is a hero who, quite frankly, is more emotionally mature than the older heroine. It is revealed early on that Jace is an “old soul,” that he has served in the military. We recognize easily that he is not like his rookie colleagues. And in that recognition, we notice that Jace is the very man for Cat. He is not only handsome and her best partner in the bedroom; he’s intelligent and intuitive like her. Jace is the ONLY man who can help Cat be the best version of herself, and Simone uses their relationship to remind us that allowing one’s self to be vulnerable offers up the ability to be loved fully and to fully love one’s self.
This is one of those books that you eat in one big sitting. Jace and Cat’s chemistry, the romantic suspense of the story, and Simone’s lesson about learning to be vulnerable and open make this book a delicious midnight snack. Yes, it can be read in small bites, but I challenge anyone to try and put this book down once you start. Misadventures in Blue is a heady portion of steaminess, steadiness, and story.
Devilishly dirty and magically delicious!
Heartfelt age gap story between seasoned detective Cat and rookie cop Jace.
Brought together to work on a case brought forth more than they imagined. Cat was older and didn’t fit the typical mold. Jace was young, dirty and didn’t care!
I devoured this fast paced yummy treat in 1 sitting.
Fun, dirty and full of heart, it es well worth reading to discover how it all unfolded!
This is a quick read but Sierra Simone packs a lot into the plot. It is super steamy age-gap story with a touch of mystery and angst. I enjoyed the story from start to finish.
The chemistry between the H and h is off the charts. I like the push and pull from the heroine but I LOVE the H! Jace is super hot, strong, and wise for his young years, and he knows how to fight for what he wants. He sees Cat and knows immediately that he wants her. He doesn’t care that she has a reputation for being an Ice Queen and that she is older than him. He knows age is just a number, and he is determined to convince Cat of the same. Cat comes off as cold and all put together, but there are things in her past that make her the way she is. Life hasn’t always been kind to Cat. This is why she has a strict rule to not date cops. The only problem is, is that she is having a hard time resisting Jace, who is thirteen years her junior. There is something about him that calls to her and the pull is strong. Can Jace convince her that he is the one for her? Will Cat be able to let down her walls?
These two steam up the pages with their crazy hot chemistry. I enjoyed the story line. It was cute, hot, a little erotic at times and overall a really good plot. I highly recommend reading this age-gap, cop co-workers love story!

3.75 stars. This was a good read. Misadventures in Blue is Jace and Catherine/Cat’s story. They are both police officers, Jace a young rookie and Cat is older and a detective. Cat’s ex-fiance was also a cop who died in the line of duty years ago. Since then she has been lonely and closed herself off from deep romantic attraction. But when she meets Jace on the job, they have explosive chemistry that awakens a part of her that was dormant for so long. The two begin a secret affair. Jace adores Cat and wants a future with her. However, her past heartbreak and their age difference has her worried. But they manage to work out their problems and embrace a happy future together.
Sierra Simone is so good a creating a sexy, suspenseful atmosphere. Catherine and Jace’s story was no different. This book was super sexy and emotional, with moments of sweetness. I really liked the couple together. I understood the reservations and obstacles to their relationship- the age difference and the worry about their jobs’ safeness. But I was glad they were able to work out those issues and I enjoyed their HEA. I did find the book a little serious or lacking in humor to lighten it up every now and then. Still, I enjoyed this book and seeing Cat and Jace’s relationship develop. They were both interesting characters with great chemistry. Jace did not come off as young or immature at all. He was dominant and protective.
Overall, Misadventures in Blue is an enjoyable book. I look forward to more from Ms. Simone in the future!
