Misadventures is a romantic series of spicy standalone novels, each written or co-written by some of the best names in romance. The stories are scandalous, refreshing, and, of course, incredibly sexy. They’re the perfect bedside read, a ‘quick blush’ for the reader who loves a page-turning romance.

In the beginning I didn’t like Kyle at all.. then I didn’t like Skye much but started to like Kyle. I’m glad it was an HEA for them. The period sex scene… was too much. I know it’s a normal thing in life but I don’t want to read about it in my books. I hate to say it but this is by far my least favorite in the misadventures series so far.
Loved it!
MISADVENTURES AT CITY HALL is the twenty-fifth book in the multi-author Misadventures series. Each is a stand-alone romance. Each one that I have read has been amazing, but this one…. This is one of those books that makes me wonder if I can’t give a sixth star/crown.
Kyle is exactly the type of man every woman should want. He is giving, warm, and comforting. He is hotter than Hades and sweeter than chocolate. He can make you laugh like Robin Williams or be as serious as Walter Cronkite.
Meanwhile, Skye is faced with every woman’s balancing act – career or family – being taken seriously or … not. Like it not, the world will always apply a double standard and women will be on the losing edge.
I loved the resolution to the dilemma of the double standard. I won’t give it away, but to say that it was satisfying. The entire story was perfect, every word, every scene.
Note: while I was given this book as a gifted ARC, my opinions are my own and are given freely.
Misadventures at City Hall is a steamy race for a council seat! A hot romance that will have you blushing at the lack of filter Kyle has. Another quick and steamy read in the Misadventures series, with a wonderful story about chasing your dreams, and following what your heart wants. Skye and Kyle are two opposites that’ll keep you entertained from the first page til the very end.
Skye has set her sights on a prestigious career that starts with a seat on the town council seat. She is ready to do whatever it takes, but she did not factor in an unknown event — falling for her competitor. Do they have what it takes to put their commonalities/differences aside? Or will they have to decide who loses and if that is a job or a soul-mate? Excellent character development made this a great addition to the series.
This was such a great book! I can’t tell you how much I just enjoyed the time reading this. Ms. Blue has a beautiful way with words. Such a powerful meaning behind the sacrifices you might have to make and how life can take you in a totally different direction than what you have planned. And in the end you find it was totally worth it all!
Ms. Blue’s Misadventure was so much fun. This story had so many things I look for in a good read, a strong woman, understanding but determined man, funny, not too short and not too long, and of course romance. I love how sassy and determined Skye is, and I love that Kyle doesn’t try to change her. I love these Misadventures so much and each authors spin on them.
I am so in love with Kyle and Skye!! Another great Misadventures book! I am always excited when a new book comes out and this one did not dissappoint me at all..
Soooooooooooo, what to say what to say what to say … OH, I have something! Another Misadventures hits my #TopReads for the year! And yeah, the last one to hit was none other than Misadventures with a Book Boyfriend!
I was so damn excited when I read that this was Skye’s book that I can’t even tell you! I met Skye in Misadventures with a BB and she practically stole the show for me! LOL SHE IS GLORIOUS! She’s the kind of person that leaves an impression whether she’s trying to or not! She’s strong and brazen and shameless and unapologetic in her determination to win! Kyle was cocky and alpha and quite the a-hole and they fit like two puzzle pieces!
The story of Skye and Kyle was all the things you guys! It was fun. It was sexy. It has #feels and the push-pull chemistry between these two was ridiculously HOT!
Why am I not reading more Victoria Blue books?!?!?!? (don’t worry, I’m on it now!)
With political aspirations Skye is ready to tackle her first election. What she doesn’t expect is Kyle to come barging into her life. When they find out they are opponents, things start to heat up! Can these two keep things quiet?
These two were hot! They have sparks flying! This was a sexy fun read.
Delaney is planning on running for Manager of the City until corruption in the mayor’s office puts an end to it. She is running for a seat on the City Council. She meets Kyle and the attraction is electric between them. The problem is they both are in competition for the City Council seat. Will the couple be split apart? or will they come together and work things out? A good short read.
Skye Delaney has worked her career in the city hall building. She’s had her sites set on the LA City Manager position, but she hits some road blocks. Instead she goes after the City Council seat.
About the time Skye has set her sites on the new position she also meets Kyle Armstrong, who she vaguely knew when they were at UCLA in college. Kyle and Skye have a sex relationship, thinking they could just keep things in the bedroom they can’t seem to keep their hands off of each other.
Kyle is working at the district attorney’s office also at the city hall building. It isn’t wrong until Kyle and Skye figure out they work in the same building, just a few floors apart.
Kyle is also running for the same city council position. Through the same fundraising dinners they go home with each other, time after time. They do get caught, and are worried that this new scandal will hurt their chances of getting the city council position.
Skye is more excited about running for city council than Kyle is. He just going through all the motions. Skye really knows she has a chance at winning will she keep seeing Kyle? Will this benefit them both? Or will work and commitments get in the way?
I did receive a free ARC copy of this book. I am freely leaving a honest review.
Overall Grade: 1/2
What does it mean to be a strong, independent woman in a world dominated by males? How does said woman show vulnerability without losing her presence in that world? These questions are the essence of Victoria Blue’s newest book, Misadventures at City Hall. It’s an important message in a #metoo world, and it strives to show that strength and vulnerability can exist together.
Skye is the assistant to the city manager who aspires to a long political career. With her current plan, she has plans to run for city manager, then city council, then mayor, and political positions beyond. Her plan becomes complicated when Los Angeles City Hall is gutted by scandal. Her aim becomes muddled as she is uncertain about her next step. Kyle Armstrong is a special advisor to the Grand Jury for Los Angeles. One night, Kyle and Skye connect in a bar. They know each other from law school at UCLA, and Skye is not a fan of Kyle’s. She believes him to be arrogant and too self-assured. Unfortunately, she is attracted to him physically, complicating her interactions with him as it is clear that he desires Skye.
With the encouragement of a colleague, Skye decides to run for city council, a step beyond the first step of her “plan.” Following that encouragement, Skye enters the race. What she soon finds out is Kyle has entered the race too. Their chemistry and his persistence in pursuing her begin to complicate her campaign. Trying to avoid Kyle while wanting him physically leads her to make decisions that threaten her future. Will Skye fulfill her goals? Will she be able to stand against the men of this political realm? Can she be vulnerable with Kyle and still sustain her strength? These are the complicated questions of Blue’s story.
As a woman who struggles with showing vulnerability as a way to remain strong, Skye’s struggles resonated with me. Blue’s depiction of Skye hit all of my emotional triggers about vulnerability. As Skye self-sabotages her relationship with Kyle throughout the story, I felt her pain and frustration. Blue makes it palpable and real for her reader that, at one moment, you want to reach through the book and hit Skye upside the head, and the next moment, you want to pull her into a hug because you understand her pain. That is Blue’s strength in this story.
Even more, when we first meet Kyle, we believe he is a player, a man who cannot be trusted with Skye. What we find out very quickly is Kyle’s strength of character allows Skye to be vulnerable. Blue shows us that trusting someone is made easier when love is sacrificial. Kyle could have easily been a misogynist. He’s arrogant and self-serving at first. As the story progresses, however, he sees Skye’s struggles, and he makes changes to become the man she needs in order to be more vulnerable. He becomes an exemplification of the “woke” modern male.
Together, these two are romance dynamite. Their chemistry in and out of the bedroom is felt off the page. They clearly complement each other, reminding the reader that we don’t have to find the “perfect” fit on the page. Instead, our perfect fit might be someone we least expect.
I love the Misadventures stories because they offer simple stories with big messages. Victoria Blue’s Misadventures at City Hall is seemingly uncomplicated, but there is more to her romance. Showing our own vulnerability, acceptance, and opening our eyes to each other’s vulnerabilities makes us better people. Blue illustrates for us the power of love when we let go of our fears and allow ourselves to find safety in the arms of another.
I am not even sure how to word this –
Just know going in that you will laugh, get angry, maybe shed a silent tear here and there most of all you will experience that one moment when you know anything is possible.
Skye has always been so driven so focused on her goals sometimes to the point that she might be labeled (okay fine she has been labeled) an absolute b! tch
And she is okay with that.
She is okay that everyone judges her.
It’s fine that she doesn’t have that special someone who appreciates her for, well her.
It’s fine.. .really
Kyle
A substantial meal for one night.
A little moment for Sky to unwind and let go.
She has no illusions of grandeur or forever’s – just one night.
Turns out Kyle wants a lot more than just a night.
I enjoyed Kyle he was so sure of himself at times a bit arrogant but he also had that marshmallow goodness that just drives me insane.
There is so much more to Sky than what people choose to see. Even I was a bit guilty in Book-boyfriend of judging her a bit harshly.
Sky and Kyle are a perfect fit, well once they work out the whole opposing thing. The back and forth between them just made the whole journey that much more.
More fun. More meaningful.
Just more.
Misadventures at City Hall was another great read by Victoria Blue. Skye has always had her heart set on the office of LA City Manager. She must reevaluate her goals when the Mayor’s office becomes riddled with corruption. She decides her next step is to run for City Council. Skye knows Kyle from college and he barges back into her life. Unfortunately he is also running for the City Council seat. She must decide if she will give up her dreams for Kyle or will her dreams change now that Kyle is in her life. I enjoyed reading this book and can’t wait to read more by Victoria Blue.
Holy HOT! Victoria did a wonderful job on this book! I love the story line. She keeps you wanting more!
Remember Oliver’s best friend and roommate from Misadventures with a Book Boyfriend, Skye? This is her story and I was so excited when I found that out! Plus there was some more Oliver and Baily, so it’s a win-win.
Skye works at City Hall and decides to take the plunge and throw her name in the race for city council. She is driven, smart and has what it takes to win. However, her opponent, Kyle Armstrong may throw a wrench or two into her plans and risk her campaign.
Skye, I love this woman. She has sass for DAYS. She is hardworking, driven, and honestly a great friend. Kyle, well the man is an alpha male who you can’t help but love. He knows what he wants and he will do anything he can to get it, including Skye. Their chemistry is OFF THE CHARTS, the banter the had was fantastic and honestly, I just couldn’t get enough of them together.
I love the Misadventures series and this book is definitely one of my favorites out of them all. It is full of steam, banter and loads of tension between Skye and Kyle. A MUST READ!
I LOVE the Misadventures series and this book was no exception!! I was so ready for the story of Skye and Kyle. Skye was a character we first met in Misadventures With A Book Boyfriend. Victoria Blue did an amazing job writing these characters.
I was hooked from the beginning to the end!! Just imagine finally getting a chance to get started in a career you’ve always wanted only to have a dreamy man possibly stand in your way. The chemistry, banter, and heat from Kyle and Skye will have you flipping pages.
I enjoyed this book so much!! Victoria Blue did another FABULOUS job putting out a fantastic read!! I highly recommend adding this one to your kindle or your shelf!!!
“Whoa, where is this girlfriend stuff coming from? And why does it feel so good” -Sky Delaney
This book was everything I knew it would be! I loved every minute of it. Kyle and Skye go together like two peas in a pod. Kyle was so dreamy, sexy, and everything EVERY woman (in real life& book life) wants. I really hope their story continues.
Thank you Victoria for an awesome book!!!
Go-getter Skye Delaney’s sights are set on the office of LA City Manager; they have been since her former boss died, and she’s passionate to get her city back to the standards of where it once was before the cloud of corruption happened. Now forced to reevaluate her ambitious goals, Skye isn’t sure where she sees herself going, but she knows that she wants to make a difference. Her friend Bailey suggests that she tries spreading her wings and go for a seat on the City Council. Eager to show that she’s not just a woman with a pretty face, Skye dives in. When she and her friend are out celebrating Skye’s newest decision, in barges Kyle Armstrong- literally, and without any warning.
One look at Skye Delaney, and Kyle Armstrong knows that he wants her. Even as her friend leaves and Skye and Kyle are alone, he makes his intentions well-known to Skye: He presses one of the hottest kisses he can muster against her lips, and while she’s whimpering for more, his heart is pounding wildly in his chest like a racehorse. The attraction between the two of them is undeniable, but Skye swears off men, dating…everything to keep herself focused on the race for City Council. But when someone tells Skye that Kyle is also running for the same seat as her, all bets are off. Yet Kyle can’t get Skye out of his mind- or his heart.
Does Skye give up on her political dreams for a man, especially one as arrogant and cocky as Kyle? She can’t deny the way he makes her feel, but she certainly won’t admit her feelings. But will Kyle make her realize that it’s normal to have feelings, fall in love, and release her fears?
