It will take a Christmas miracle for two very different souls to find each other in this perfectly festive fairy tale of New York Hopeless romantic Eva Jordan loves everything about Christmas. She might be spending the holidays alone this year, but when she’s given an opportunity to house-sit a spectacular penthouse on Fifth Avenue, she leaps at the chance. This is the story of Eva and Lucas and it was worth the wait for this one. It is the typical opposites attract and bring out the best in each other. I highly recommend this one, along with the other books in the series!
What would you do if an author used you as inspiration for the murderer in the novel he’s writing? That’s the premise of Miracle on 5th Avenue.
The hero might be a brooding sort of fellow, and the chef heroine may have her wok cut out for her, but this is a Christmas romance. Bright, cheerful and heart-warming except when it’s not. A great read any time.
Wow! I really enjoyed this book. It was a real page-turner for me. The two characters Lucas and Eve give the meaning to opposites attract a whole new meaning. Eve is a free spirited person who wears her emotions on her sleeve. She is kind hearted and helps others who are feeling down about themselves and their life in general. While she herself is struggling with her own personal issues. Lucas is a man who has practically shut everyone out of his life since the tragic death of his wife. He has lived the past 3 years just trudging alone in his life holding a deep secret within, while life is passing on by. However, with his grandmother she cooks up a plan for Lucas and Eve to meet. Throughout this story there are many give and take moments between these two characters. Eve professes her love to Lucas but for him he just cannot accept her love. Eve returns home miserable but is surrounded by her friends who give her unconditional love and support. Lucas goes to visit his grandmother and she gives him the nudge he needs to accept Eve’s love. With the help of Eve’s friends and Lucas’s doorman a Miracle happens on 5th Avenue.
Everything you want in a holiday romance: New York City, haunted hero, and snowed in!
Miracle on 5th Avenue I think this is up there with my favorite books I’ve ever read (even though I’ve been saying that a lot lately), but hear me out! The hero is a tortured, brooding novelist with a deep dark secret. It’s set in NEW YORK at CHRISTMAS. The sex is classy and hot AF. I also read a LOT of romances, but this is the first one I can remember thinking DAMN I wish they would make a movie of this. Especially the ending. No spoilers, but SWOON the ending.
Hallmark needs to make an adult channel just for books like this! I want an adaptation so bad. Miracle on 5th Avenue is a great holiday-themed romance (with adult content) but it’s definitely not all happy googly eyes. A damaged, grieving, angry man: a famous crime writer with writer’s block who has met his worst nightmare…but also his muse. Hate and anger turns to lust and sexy times. If this type of Christmas book is up your ally, check it out!
My favorite quote:
“The news presents only the bad side of humanity, Mr. Blade, and it does it on a global scale. It doesn’t report the millions of small, unreported acts of kindness that take place on a daily basis in communities. People help old ladies across the street, they bring their neighbors tea when they’re sick. You don’t hear about it because good news isn’t entertainment, even though it’s those deeds that hold society together. Bad news is a commodity and the media trade in that.”
Sarah Morgan’s From Manhattan with Love series includes the following installments as of December 2016. Miracle on 5th Avenue was the first book I have ever read from this series or the author and I enjoyed it as a standalone.
#0.5: Midnight at Tiffany’s
#1: Sleepless in Manhattan
#2: Sunset in Central Park
#3: Miracle on 5th Avenue
#4: New York, Actually
#5: Meet Me in the Hamptons
#6: Moonlight over Manhattan
This is the third book in the series From Manhattan with Love and the author was basically saving the funniest for last. Eva was just perfectly wonderful in this book her one liners and witty comebacks are just what every romantic comedy needs. Its a perfect winter romance to cuddle and laugh out to, the whole series in fact will make you fall in love with New York, during whatever season as it should be.
I picked up this book for my reading challenge (a book set in a place I’ve visited) and to try a book by a new-to-me author. I’m not sure how/why I picked up a Christmas book in September, but I went with it.
It’s a sweet book, but I didn’t completely engage with it. For me, it was a bit wordy (I skimmed quite a bit) and there were a few plot points that sort of fizzled (days later, they’re still talking about the blizzard and we never really see if Lucas changes his mind about Christmas). I loved the dialogue, though, and seeing them grow closer together.
Overall, it was an easy read and sweet romance, just a bit long for me.
R-rated for some sex and swearing.
A fun romantic weekend/beach read. I enjoyed the characters in the book.
