What if you could ask God anything? What would you ask, and how would He answer? Chelsea Chambers is on her own. After a public split from her NFL superstar husband, Chelsea takes a bold step out of the limelight and behind the counter of the Higher Grounds Café, an old-fashioned coffee shop in dire need of reinvention. But when her courage, expert planning, and out-of-this-world cupcakes fail to … out-of-this-world cupcakes fail to pay the bills, this newly single mom finds herself desperate for help. Better yet, a miracle.
Then a curious stranger lands on Chelsea’s doorstep, and with him, an even more curious string of events. Soon, customers are flocking to the Higher Grounds Café, and not just for the cupcakes and cappuccino. They’ve come for the internet connection to the divine. Now the café has become the go-to place for people in search of answers to life’s biggest questions.
When a catastrophe strikes and her ex comes calling, Chelsea begins to wonder if the whole universe is conspiring against her quest to make it on her own. After a shocking discovery opens her eyes to the unseen world around her, Chelsea finds the courage to ask God a question of her own—and heaven answers in a most unexpected way.

What a wonderful book of hope and promise and behind-the-scene views of God in action! I love Manny, the angel with an appreciation for Star Wars, but I felt like I could’ve met all the characters at my favorite coffee house.
Chelsea, daughter of a philandering father, almost-ex-wife of a philandering husband, has to figure out how to raise two …
This gave a comforting message in an entertaining manne.
Not your typical Max Lucado and not as good as the typical either. It was an okay story, but I expected more inspirational.
Story with a sweet message of struggles & survival.
I loved this book.
enjoyed every page of it!
I love Max and have many of his books. This one was a surprise and possibly the best fiction I’ve read in a long time. I hope he writes more like this. It reconnected me with hope for better days and putting my trust where it belongs.

Captivating story!
Chelsea Chambers recently separated from Sawyer, her NFL celebrity husband, and is trying to make the coffee shop that her mother left her a success for her two children. Business crawls. Her only employee quits. Manny shows up the same day. He’s a read godsend and she hires him on the spot.
Then the IRS delivers a huge tax …
What an uplifting novel! When the year just can’t seem to get any worse, for the new owner of the Higher Grounds Café, it does. A cheating husband, the inheritance of her mother’s outdated coffee shop (including a surprise tax lien.) If she ever needed a guardian angel, now is the time. This novel will tug at your heart strings & renew your faith. …
It was a compelling spiritual fiction. Developed the characters well, had some good twists along the way and was an easy read. Made you think about how God works in our everyday lives.
This is an easy read, you are able to get to know the main characters and what makes them tick.
I appreciated the faith component of this book, and reminder that God does answer prayer. The plot however, was a bit too fantastic for me to rate higher.
As a Christian, this was very inspiring. It’s extraordinary to me to see other’s pictures of our heavenly helpers and most of all our Lord’s overwhelming love for us… even before we knew He loved us. Precious, precious, precious! What would YOU ask the God Blog?
True Lucado style! Loved it!
