MinxA romantic comedy about friendships, flirtations, and the elusive “Fantasm!”Hi! I’m Miranda Blake and this is my story. Well, sort of. It’s more like a twisted fairytale, if you believe in them. Except there’s no beautiful, young princess with perky breasts, perfectly coiffed hair and a sassy attitude. I’m closing in on fifty, thirty pounds overweight according to Weight Watchers, and, after … pounds overweight according to Weight Watchers, and, after nursing two kids and that bitch, gravity, doing her job, I’m lucky the ladies don’t hit my knees. The gorgeous brown mane of hair is slightly frizzy from my ridiculous attempts to recapture my youth by dyeing the hell out of it. As for sassy attitude, well, it wasn’t so long ago that I was a doormat. And the charming prince who sweeps me off my feet into the life of my dreams? I have a dog called Prince, German Shepherd, who knocks me on my ass if I’m in the way when the doorbell rings. Does that count?

I LOVED Minx by Maggie Adams!
It was a Featured Book in the Sizzling HOT Romance Book Club on Facebook, and it was everything a romantic comedy should be. Miranda Blake is not the typical romance leading lady–she’s middle-aged, she has ‘wobbly bits’, and she’s just a touch clumsy. But she soars to new heights with the help of her merry band of home-girls, in spite of being dumped by her douchebag husband of many years. Don’t even get me started on him.
Minx is the perfect blend of laughter and tears, and it is ultimately a story of hope and second chances.
5 enthusiastic stars!!
Minx by Maggie Adams is a fun and entertaining book that will have you laughing out loud the whole way through.
I hadn’t been sure if I would like this book when I first picked it up. I had really connected with the blurb yet it had had such good reviews. I am definitely glad I gave this book a chance.
The main character was not just likeable but so relatable. She was fun, witty and thoroughly enjoyable. The journey she has to go on is one that could happen to anyone and it was great to see the way the author handled it all with such ease.
Ms Adams has a great writing style. The story flowed well and I found it to be well paced from start to finish. This was a thoroughly enjoyable book.

The story Minx by Maggie Adams is a book that I loved reading. It is one of those stories that had me smiling as well as laughing so much at times that I had to keep from falling out of my chair. I loved reading about the character of Miranda Blake. Miranda is a woman that I found funny, compassionate, and just plain fun to read about. While she says that she considered herself a doormat, I found her to be witty, at times sarcastic, kind, and loyal. I found myself caring about her with each chapter that I read and wanted her to be happy. The story at times includes strong emotions. This is a tale that grabbed my attention from the first chapter and I didn’t want to put it down until I had read the final page. There are additional characters that are introduced and I enjoyed reading about their part in the story as well as their interactions with Miranda. I found that the events that occur in Miranda’s life made it interesting and certainly not dull. This is a wonderful story to read and one I would recommend to be at the top of your to-be-read list.
Miranda Blake is in her fifties and thought she had her life all sorted out, apart from being a bit klutzy, that is until her husband suddenly wants a divorce, her out of his life and their house within a couple of weeks while he is on a cruise they were meant to be going on together, talk about a bombshell! As he prepares to leave the house, she is equally panicked and angry, she hasn’t worked since she got married, she gave up things for him and he repays her by having an affair, but she does give him a piece of her mind, which he doesn’t expect, but the satisfaction for Miranda is just what she needed, until exhausted she collapses into the spare bed. The next morning, she wakes up feeling worse for wear, but better after a shower, until one of her best friends comes in, gun in hand and nearly shoots her when Miranda attacks her with a hairdryer, both are as surprised as the other but when Miranda explains the situation amid floods of tears and collapses into another exhausted sleep and wakes up with her other friends rallied around her and ready to help out any way that they can, including talking her through why they love her and giving her soon to be ex-husband the nickname of “Rat Bastard”.
As the deadline to leave her home advances, she gets some advice and more help from her friends as they talk about what needs to happen for the divorce to happen and then after packing up her belongings, they discover that they need to take her shopping as he owns everything, including the clothes on her back. As the impromptu shopping trip starts to slow down and the ladies hit Starbucks, they insist that she does a catwalk strut, but when she tries, her klutzy nature comes to the fore and her new heels get stuck in a hole in the sidewalk and she stumbles face first into the lap of an extremely handsome man, much to her embarrassment., but it proceeded to become a horror show when she used his sensitive parts as leverage when she tried to get up which led to her falling back on her rear end all over again. This incident doesn’t stop him from introducing himself, asking for her number and promptly asking her out to dinner the next day and yet again her friends rally round and help her to get ready for her first date in years. As the drink and conversation flow, they get on well and when she blurts out that she needs a job, he says he will see what he can do when he casually name drops that he has a brother who owns the company he also works for and when his brother goes past them and introduces himself, she is a little lost for words and at the end of the night, she doesn’t know which of the two she would prefer.
As the ladies gossip and demand the details from the date as they work on her resume so it is ready when he calls her a few days later and says that a position has opened up as an executive secretary and has set up an interview for her as he thinks that she will be perfect for the position and she does get it, as the lady she is replacing is about to give birth. As she is settling in to her new role, she overhears some conversation she isn’t overly happy about, but she isn’t in any position to challenge, or change, however, when the boss steps in and helps her out with it, she realises that she is going to have to figure out what shape the future is going to take and is asked to move to be his assistant when the one she has stepped in for returns after her maternity leave, this leads to her helping to organise an important fundraiser and while she is at the mall looking at things in person, she has to pop to the bathroom to avoid being caught while overhearing another conversation, however, when she comes out and tries to ignore the sales assistant hailing her, she runs into the boss whom she was just listening to, but her inability not to embarrass herself comes crashing in when she realises that she has been mooning the entire mall and while trying to put her clothing back into place, another unfortunate incident involving her underwear happens. Will Miranda ever be able to get through a situation without embarrassing or injuring herself, or will this nature be her undoing? Will she be able to get through the divorce without anything else getting in the way, or will disaster strike again and her choices be taken out of her hands? This is a romance in an unusual generation which makes it even more humorous as it is romantic and will keep you entertained all the way through and wanting to know more about the adventures of this group of friends at the end.

My rating is 5 out of 5
Meet Miranda. She is just your average housewife and mother with a great bunch of girlfriends. When her husband decides he is done Miranda is forced to reevaluate everything. With the help of her girlfriends she sets out on a journey of self discovery. She is such a great character. She is a little older and unsure with no clue of her worth. Can she find the minx inside of her?

Minx Hell on Heels #1 by Maggie Adams
This is the first book I’ve had the chance of reading by Adams. Minx is an amazing read and I can’t wait for the next book.
Miranda is an older woman who has been married for twenty-five years. Now her ex husband wants a divorce. Her friends rally around her and help her figure out her new single life. The quote I chose for Miranda is: “You guys love me, you have to say that.”
Reed is the big boss of the family company. His younger brother Ritter is going around telling everyone that he and Miranda are in a relationship. The quote I chose for Reed is: “Why do you insist on wearing these stupid shoes? You are going to kill yourself! Do you realize you could have broken your neck? Falling over the edge of the railing? My God, isn’t that how you met Ritter, tripping over in heels landing in his lap?”
Highly recommended for Romantic Comedy lovers.
This was a really enjoyable read. The author does a great job building her characters. You can help cheer for the lead character Miranda as she goes through her life.
Miranda thought her life was set in stone. Married to a man for 25 years with kids being a housewife and mother. However that all changed when her husband admits to an affair and wants a divorce.
Now she has to learn to relive her life starting with a job.
When she is taken on as a personal assistant to Reed her life changes forever.
Reed and Ritter are brother with a successful firm. Reed is the serious business man whereas Ritter is a playboy. Which one will steal Miranda’s heart?
“Minx” is the first, fun, sweet, modern day, sexy, adult fairytale from the “Hell On Heels” series. Miranda is a middle-aged curvy housewife that’s blind-sided when her ‘rat-bast*rd’ husband leaves her for a younger woman… This heroine reminds me of 2 old sitcoms’ ladies like a sweet, bumbling, Lucille Ball from the “I Love Lucy” show, combined with a sultry, Delta Burke from “Designing Women” show 🙂 … Fortunately she has a group of wonderful, quirky, friends who are there to help her become a modern-day, mature Cinderella with an HEA. This unique storyline has relatable characters & witty dialogue that made me laugh out loud at times & makes it a real page-turner! Even tho I always volunteer to read this author’s books, these are my own feelings without any outside influences, so I can honestly recommend this to adult 18+ fans of fiction! I actually already bought, read & reviewed the 2nd fantastic must read, “Jinxed” first, so you could read these out of order IMO. Now I can’t wait for more, but I will!
I loved Minx!! This was a quick read for me. Once I started I couldn’t put this down. Miranda is going through a divorce with her besties at her side to support her every step of the way. She’s having to start over but she’s rocking it. So many laugh out loud moments and one sexy boss to boot. I would recommend this book and author.
Minx by Maggie Adams is a five star novel. I love how the author uses an older character and makes her sexy and necessary again. This was a nice quick read as we got to know Miranda. As an older woman, she thought she needed to take a break from relationships and just find herself. Then she finds herself, literally, in the lap of a complete stranger. He is gorgeous and with a voice that makes her weak. When he offers her a job, she knows she needs to take it even though she doesn’t believe she is qualified. After she starts the job, she realizes she can do the job and she isn’t too bad at it. When she meets her beau’s brother, she can’t decide whom she likes more. Then things start happening at the business the brothers are in charge of and she might have to take sides.

Minx was a wonderful read by Maggie Adams and is also the first book that I have read by this author. The first thing that really made me want to read this book was the blurb, it was interesting enough to make me want to read about Miranda, the main characters but vague enough that I wasn’t quite sure what the story would be about so it was kind of like going in blind! I liked that I had no expectations about what was going to happen. I ended up loving Miranda! She was such a fantastic character to read about. She was so genuine and relatable – there were so many times when I just got what she was going through. I loved seeing her character evolve as the story progressed and I could definitely read more stories about her, I kind of felt there was so much more for her after the story finished.
I absolutely 100% recommend this story and I am looking forward to reading more from this author again in the future.

Minx By Maggie Adams is one of the best Romcom’s I’ve read in a while. I found myself laughing at times and smiling really big at others. I found myself having a hard time putting it down till the end. This is my first read by this Author and it definitely wont be my last . I felt like I the characters were very well developed and easily relatable. I found myself feeling like I was right there with them. Miranda is a lady who has been thrown a curve ball. Can she find her HEA? Find out what happens next. I highly recommend reading this Book.
Minx by Maggie Adams is a fun, quick read. The story is about Miranda, who has been not living her best life. Her husband leaves her and she has to rebuild her life. After having been focused on her husband and kids she has to learn to take care of herself. I like her humor and that she is not a perfect, model person. She has flaws and learns to run with them. Her friends are a great addition to the story but do not overpower Miranda’s character. This is my first book by this author but after Minx I will keep an eye out for her other books.

This was such a fast paced read. While many details for small things are there like decoration, clothing etc I felt I was missing the big details between Miranda and the main man. This was a good read about someone finding themselves again and jumping back into the dating game, but it was so fast paced I didn’t ever know how much time had passed from beginning to end.
I loved Miranda’s friends and how different they all were and how it didn’t matter, they were there for one another and I wouldn’t mind reading about them sometime!
Minx by Maggie Adams was so stinking fun to read! I have never had the pleasure of reading anything by Maggie Adams prior to this but now I must say I am dying to get my hands on some more of her work and anything else she may create for readers in the future. Minx is a fast read, one that you could devour on a dreary rainy day to brighten things up, or even perfect for a poolside read. As soon as I started reading about Miranda Blake I was hooked and found myself finished in one sitting. I would love to see more Miranda in the future because I feel like there is still so much story potential left in her character. *wink wink*
Miranda Blake is the exact type of person that I am so it was super easy for me to relate to her on multiple levels. She is such a good-doer for anyone and everyone that she often gets left in the dust with little to nothing left for herself. Now that is all about to change as she grabs life by the horns and starts to find her voice. I loved watching her grow to find that inner sassy voice that she always had but wasn’t sure how to use. Definitely a five star read that I will be finding time to re-read once again soon.
Minx is a romantic comedy by Maggie Adams. I am grateful that Ms. Adams created Miranda. She is not the picture of a fairytale but more of a hot mess. Her story is one of comedy throughout her life. It is refreshing knowing not every author writer describes the “barbie” figure for the character. I have to admit I spent a long time reading this story because i was laughing so hard I had to stop. Will Miranda find some love? Will Prince, her German Shepard, stay her Prince Charming? I hope you have as much enjoyment of this story as I did.
This is one of those stories that is right up my alley.

This book is on the shorter side and because of it, moves at a very quick pace. There were a couple of characters who I constantly rolled my eyes at (I’m looking at you Matt & Ritter) and I wanted to write them right out of the story and some of the situations were odd, but I found the story an enjoyable one and would recommend it.
I will be checking out other books by this author in the future.
MINX by Maggie Adams is a delightful quick and easy read that is a short story but there is nothing short about what is packed into this little tale. It is fun and the hilarity of it had me laughing out loud, hubby kept looking at me like I was a loon. The characters are quirky and delightful but I would have loved the story to be longer to get a better feel of them and their lives as a whole. Even though it is fun there is the serious side of the story where after your marriage breaks down you go through the stages of grief and you have to find yourself and who you are now and that is where the fun begins.
Miranda’s husband of 20 years decides their marriage is over and kicks her out whilst bringing in the younger woman. She goes through an awakening to find herself and love herself again.
If you love a story with a little quirk, then this one you don’t want to look past.
This book made me late to work. LOL. I couldn’t stop reading this book and I loved every word. I love that Miranda is just a normal housewife when her husband turns her world upside down and she has to reinvent herself and find who she is. She isn’t some skinny stepford wife, she is so real and clumsy. She gets caught between two brothers but I loved this story. There was romance, humor, sizzle, danger and drama. Amazing book and I would read this author again just from this book alone. I highly recommend this book and author!!!!

I love stories like this. The author gives you characters that seem unlikely but to perfect. I love stories that puts a person in a group of people that love and wish them well. The characters were all well written. The author plotted the details together so well. I was entertained from beginning to end.
