Minecraft Potions Guide (With Recipes

Potions are utilitarian items in Minecraft which are made by combining ingredients at a Brewing Stand. Minecraft potions are chiefly used to add helpful condition effects to players ( for model, increasing movement speed ) or to add negative condition effects to enemies ( for example, poisoning an enemy ) .
Brewing potions is identical different than crafting items at a crafting board and this template will explain how to make potions in Minecraft and all the different recipes .

How to Make Potions in Minecraft

To start with brewing potions, you will need the pursue items :

• Brewing Stand: This is basically your crafting table for potions. You will need at least one and they can be found naturally in some structures (igloos, villages) or crafted using one blaze rod in the center and 3 cobblestones along the bottom of the recipe.
  
• Water Bottles: You will need at least one water bottle to make nearly any potion in one way or another. Glass bottles can be crafted using 3 glass blocks and then filled with water by right clicking any water source to create water bottles.



• Blaze Powder: Required to “fuel” a brewing stand, similar to how you need to a fuel a furnace for smelting. Each blaze powder allows you to brew multiple potions and can be crafted from blaze rods.



• Nether Wart: Required for nearly all potions. Needs to be first obtained in the nether, and then can be grown in the main world afterwards. Must be planted on soul sand which is also found in the nether!



• Potion Ingredients: You will need various additional ingredients depending on the potion you want to make. For a detailed list, see the “potion recipes” section below!

How to Use the Brewing Stand

The brew stand has a sum of five crafting slots. Below we have an persona showing each slot labelled with a description :

• 1. Fuel Slot: You must add blaze powder to this slot for the brewing process to work. This is similar to fueling a furnace.
• 2. Primary Ingredient Slot: This is where primary ingredients go, which is essentially anything that is NOT in a bottle. Ingredients like sugar or spider eyes will go in this slot only.
• 3, 4, & 5: Bottle Slots: Any potion ingredient in a bottle needs to go in the bottom 3 slots (does not matter which slot is used).

How to Make Awkward Potions

The “ Awkward Potion ” is the harbinger for about every potion. To craft an awkward potion, you use a brew stand to combine one nether wart ( in the elementary ingredient slot ) and up to three water bottles ( in the bottom 3 bottle slots ). It is potential to craft up to three awkward potions with just one nether wart .
The awkward potion by itself is useless and has no impression. It must be combined with extra ingredients to make functional potions.

Minecraft Potion Recipes

The process is the same as making awkward potions. For example, to brew a potion of speed, add one sugar to the elementary ingredient slot ( top time slot ) in a brew stand and add one awkward potion to any bottle component slot .
While about all potions use awkward potions as an component, there are a few potions that use unlike bottle ingredients. Upgrading Minecraft Potions

Some potions are eldritch or basically useless in Minecraft unless you brew them even further to upgrade them. For exercise, who would want to drink a potion of harming or poison themselves ? fortunately, you can upgrade potions to splash ( affect those you throw it at ), carry duration, and increase effect.

There are three ways to upgrade a potion in Minecraft :

• Splash Potions (gunpowder): Brewing a potion with gunpowder will convert a potion into a splash potion. When right clicking a potion, you will now throw it instead of drinking it. Any player or monster near where the bottle lands will receive the benefits or harms of the potion. A splash potion can be further upgraded to a lingering potion by brewing a splash potion with dragon’s breath. A lingering potion is the same as a splash potion, but the splash effect lingers around for players or enemies to walk in.
• Extend Duration (redstone dust): Brewing a potion with redstone dust will increase the duration of the potion. For example, an effect may last 8 minutes instead of 3 minutes.
• Increase Effect (glowstone dust): Brewing a potion with glowstone dust will increase the potency/effect of the potion. For example, a healing potion with glowstone added would heal more hearts.

note that you must add the gunpowder, redstone dust, or glowstone dust after the regular/normal potion is already brewed to upgrade it. not all potions can be upgraded. For exemplar, you are not able to add redstone scatter to an clamant curative potion as there is no duration to extend, however you could add glowstone scatter to increase the overall bring around effect .
