Tessa was prepared for the hurricane. Lindsey was the storm she didn’t see coming. When Tessa Taylor unlocked her husband Ethan’s iPad to discover nude photos from a twenty-six-year-old bombshell named Lindsey, her seemingly perfect life came to a screeching halt. With a hurricane barreling toward Florida and Ethan stuck on a business trip, Tessa finds herself imprisoned in her own home with a … imprisoned in her own home with a choice to make: Does she ride out the storm until she can confront Ethan in person, or does she take matters into her own hands?
Increasingly restless and desperate for revenge, Tessa resolves to act. And when she lures Lindsey over a few hours later, there’s no turning back.
What ensues is a battle of wills between two well-matched opponents, blinded by love for the same man but driven by demons of their own. Like storm-ravaged Florida, neither woman will be the same when the skies clear.
He’s mine. Both wife and mistress would stake their lives on it. But only one of them can be right.

Hell Hath No Fury Like A Woman Scorned …. Contemporary usage of the phrase “Hell Hath No Fury” refers to the pinnacle of anger that has been attained by a jilted woman.
When Tessa accidentally discovers that her husband of 20 years is having an affair, her anger turns as tumultuous as the impeding hurricane outside. Seeing the texts, nude pictures, love talk with a much younger woman on his Ipad sends her into overdrive. Does she ride out the storm until she can confront Ethan in person when he returns from a business trip, or does she take matters into her own hands?
Desperate for revenge, Tessa lures Lindsey to her home. Wife and mistress claim the same man .. and neither will be the same once the storm is over.
MINE is a fast-paced book that is told from the viewpoint of both women. Both are angry … both are hurt … both are in love. And both will do anything to win … at any cost.
I read this one in practically one sitting. Needless to say, I didn’t bother sleeping … the book was riveted to my hands and in my mind. I highly recommend this to anyone who likes psychological thrillers.
Many thanks to the author / Gallery Books / Netgalley / Edelweiss for the advanced copy of this psychological fiction. Opinions expressed here are unbiased ad entirely my own.
Copy received via Netgalley for an honest review.
Last night, I picked up this book after finishing another read, with the intent of getting it set up on my kindle to read tonight.
Welp, that didn’t happen. I opened this book up to read a chapter, and I didn’t put it down till I had finished it.
I felt all the reactions in this book. I felt the anger, the hurt, and oh the rage.
I have never wanted to hit a character over the head with my kindle so hard as I did Ethan. Oh man, he is such a turd!
I could understand all Tessa’s fears, frustrations and all, I wanted to slap the smile of Lindsey’s face.
However, as much as I liked the story, the end was lacking for me. We never got the confrontation with the cheating douchebag, and man do I feel that I want to see that.
Enjoyable, frustrating book.
Most people who have experienced infidelity have at least thought about confronting the other woman or man, about getting answers, and about some kind of revenge. Most people have to think about the consequences of certain actions, about how doing what they really want to do would affect their children and others around them, about where they go from here – but what if they didn’t? That’s where Mine comes in. Some things about the story were a little over the top, and in all honesty, I didn’t agree with the actions of any of these characters. However, having been in Tessa’s shoes, I can understand what drove her. As for Lindsey, the other woman, we get her story in a series of flashbacks throughout the book. Of course, we aren’t meant to like her, but it’s pretty clear that she’s a bit unhinged. Oh, and let’s not forget that everything other than Lindsey’s flashbacks are happening in the middle of a category four hurricane, and the man in the middle is stuck in New York, so intervention isn’t coming any time soon. All of that creates a tension-filled atmosphere, and regardless of how I felt about any particular character, I couldn’t help but cheer a little for Tessa at times, and even though I hate to admit it, I felt a bit sorry for Lindsey at certain points in the story. In the end, we don’t exactly get a clearly defined outcome, especially for Tessa, but it is fitting given the circumstances, and if you’re like me, you’ll put yourself in Tessa’s shoes and ponder what you think should come next.
What an unforgettably captivating read this is! I was hooked from the first couple of pages to the very end of this story that includes love, marriage, infidelity, revenge, coping and learning to accept just to name a few of the emotions I came across while reading in this book. Tessa and Ethan Taylor are a rich, successful couple with 3 high achieving teen-age children. Ethan decides to go on a dating site and meets much younger, beautiful, Lindsay Vale, a single mother working as a secretary and going to college nights studying nursing. As a hurricane rages outside, the two women meet and you will not be able to put this book down. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this very suspenseful book. If I could, I would give this book more than 5 stars.
3.9 Stars
She could be all calm and mad and angry. But she’s lost her mind a tiny bit. Ethan’s still out of town and Tessa decides to lure Lindsey to the house, pretending to be Ethan….
And Lindsey is only all too happy to come running.
Let the ‘fun’ times begin!
Well, that was … interesting.
I think not many people will read and/or like this book. Cheating is a hard-limit for so many readers. I don’t like cheaters either. Who does?
I just don’t understand them. If you want to cheat – okay, do it. But then come home and talk about it and break up or try to work on your marriage. I don’t see the point in lying? You either want your partner or you want someone else. Easy.
But of course for so many people it’s not easy. They claim to still love their spouse. I just don’t understand it. I don’t really understand Ethan either. Well, maybe a tiny little bit. Tessa is so horribly busy with work and worrying about their oldest son – Ethan feels a bit left out.
Still no reason to cheat. It’s just this typical male midlife crisis kind of thing. He wants to feel sexy and needed again.
This book is not really about the cheating. Well, yes, it kind of is. It’s all about what Ethan and Lindsey did to Tessa. BUT – it’s also this psycho hostage hurricane drama. LOL!
It was really interersting to read. You know that Tessa just completely snapped when she read those texts. She’s not herself anymore. She doesn’t really know what she’s doing with Lindsey. What are her plans? She can’t hold her hostage forever?! She can’t kill her. She knows that her perfect life would be over if something happens to Lindsey. It IS kind of over now already – what does she think Lindsey will do once she’s free?? Not go to the cops?
Ugh – I don’t even know what I want to happen to all three of them. All of them are now guilty of something. Can’t they just all live together happily ever after??
It was an interesting and exciting story. Different from our average cute romances. You just can’t stop reading – even if you kind of hate every thing about what is happening!
The book is told from both Tessa and Lindsey’s POV. Tessa’s POV is the present time and Lindsey tells her chapters in the past – how she met Ethan and how their relationship developed.
We don’t really get to hear Ethan’s side of things. There was this letter, and I loved it. But that was it. He’s just this idiot cheater to the reader. And I hate that. I need to love the hero in my books. He’s not really the hero here of course, but he could’ve been a bit more heroish. A bit more human and broken and full of regret and love and … I still liked him. Even though we don’t see too much of him. I wanted to like him. Maybe that was just because those two ladies were just crazy!
If you’re mega scared of cheating in books, this is probably not for you – but maybe try it. It’s a great story. Just completely crazy! I’m not sure I liked it. I pretty much didn’t like anything that anyone did, but the story was still interesting and there are some sparks of hope for all of them.
I loved Ethan’s letter! He’s a cheating bastard, but he’s also a sad guy stuck in a midlife crisis who loves his family and wife.
I would’ve loved to get an epilogue! It was a bit too rushed at the end. I wanted more.
It was definitely written in a way that keeps the reader fascinated. A bit like an accident at the side of the road though – you just can’t not look. No. It’s was an interesting book. A kind of ‘what-might-happen’ or ‘what-would-I-do-if-I-were-in-such-a-situation-and-snapped’ thing. I hated most of it, but I also liked reading it. It kept me entertained for a day. And I might have a few nightmares for another ten years or so.
MINE was a slightly over-the-top crazy Hollywood-type-midlife-crisis-cheating-hostage-hurricane drama! But I would definitely watch the movie!
There were also a few ‘mistakes’ in the story/writing. Like the hurricane. It’s sooo bad and nothing in/at the house breaks – none of the 45 windows! Nobody can drive – Tessa barely makes it home and then Lindsey and later someone else are driving in the hurricane – even though the radio said it’s illegal to drive. And why is that person driving at all?? Doesn’t make any sense and it’s not explained either?
Then Tessa says how she can’t trust Lindsey with her son in the house! There is NO one in the house with them at that point…
And then … I mean, I’m German, so I’m really not sure, but I think Courtney uses the word CONSCIOUS wrong twice. She meant to use CONSCIENCE.
In Mine we meet Ethan, Tessa, and Lindsey three characters whose lives are tangled together by secrets and lies. Tessa and Lindsey battle it out over one man. Wife and mistress meet face to face during a Florida hurricane while the man they love is away on a business trip. Tessa wants answers that her husband can’t provide.
Courtney Cole took readers on a unique journey exploring an entirely different angle. A competition brewing between the wife and the mistress. I’m left waiting on pins and needles as Courtney explores both the past and the present simultaneously. She will surprise and shock readers by what is discovered. Courtney leaves room for the readers mind to ponder whose telling the truth and who’s lying. It’s quite thought provoking exploring this topic from this angle.
There is a lesson to be learned from both sides by both women. Tessa internalizes her husbands behavior looking back at everything they built together. It’s a sad reality viewing Tessa’s feelings in the matters of love and marriage. This held very realistic concerns. Courtney played both sides very convincingly.
“Is there not a way to be a successful, independent woman in this world while also having a happy marriage?” Here lies the question every person whose been cheated on wants answers to.
They are survivors weathering the storm together and coming out stronger in the end. It’s all therapeutic in an effed up way.
Told from the sides of a wife and a mistress. Tessa and Ethan have been married for over twenty years. They have a beautiful home which Ethan designed overlooking the beach in Florida. They have three wonderful children. Tessa started her own cosmetics business. She’s a successful businesswoman. She balances being a good wife, a good mother, and a career woman. They were college sweethearts. Somewhere along the way in the last couple of years Ethan felt neglected, yet Tessa was unaware. She learns of her husbands infidelity when she finds naked photos of a young woman. What transpires after that is not your typical run of the mill confrontation. It’s awe inspiring to say the least.
It’s wonderful when a concept and execution come together this seamlessly. This is exactly the type of read I look for. Courtney’s writing style and voice is exquisite. When authors write from personal experience it’s reflected in their writing voice. I was immersed in her work and carried away by the emotions of these characters. Courtney remained on topic between the two main characters of Tessa and Lindsey weaving Ethan, the kids, and mothers when necessary. The heart of the story lies with the war raging between these two women.
Mine is a delightfully easy read, I whipped through it in a few fun hours.
Tessa and Ethan have been married for 20 years. Tessa drops her kids with her parents in anticipation of a long weekend at home in Florida with her husband when their plans suddenly change. She is unexpectedly dealing with a hurricane and Ethan cannot get home from his business trip in NYC.
She borrows his iPad and discovers to her horror that her husband has been exchanging sexy texts and racy photos with a 26 year old named Lindsay for some time. She is horrified but pissed and she sends Lindsay a text from Ethan’s iPad inviting her to come over and ride out the storm with “him”.
It’s a badass to bitch face off at that point and it’s pretty great.
Told from the POV of both Tessa and Lindsay, this is a tale of revenge, self-discovery and grit.
The ending is a little cozy for me but overall a great story and a fun read.
Whoa – I did not see that one coming! Sucked me in from page one and I could not put it down!?
Tessa finds out that her husband is cheating right as she is stuck at home alone during a Florida hurricane. With her husband away in New York on a business trip she reacts by deceiving his mistress and luring her to her home under false pretenses. The lies, the deception, all comes to a head.
This book was like a train wreck but in the most fulfilling, gut-wrenching way. It was a nauseating experience to imagine and the rage, hurt and confusion could be felt, yet I had to keep going. Very fast read and I’ll surely be checking out more from this author!
Wow! That was…I really don’t have adequate words to do this story justice but I’ll give it my best.
Here’s the setup. Two women, one the wife and one the newly discovered mistress. Ethan, the offending husband, is out of town and Tessa just discovered his betrayal. She’s alone in their big coastal home with a hurricane bearing down on her, her internal storm growing at the same rate. She lures the girlfriend, Lindsey, to the house, not even sure why but wanting to know at a minimum who her husband chose to put their marriage at risk. What happens over the next few hours is one wild, crazy confrontation.
If you’ve ever experienced infidelity, Tessa’s range of emotions will feel awfully familiar. Even though some of her actions may sound crazy, you’d probably identify with them because you’ve been there. What she wanted from Lindsey sometimes felt like a fool’s errand but something you’ve got to explore in the midst of insane thoughts and emotional turmoil. Lindsey, as the other woman, offers a perspective, also relatable whether you identify with it or not, sometimes infuriating and pathetically naive at others. I was astounded at the author’s insights throughout because both of these women seem to capture the appropriate feelings and reactions with precision. When I later learned the author had been through this herself, it all made perfect sense. And, I’m so glad I chose the audio version because the narrators owned these characters. They made me feel!
I finished this in one sitting because I just couldn’t stop listening. It’s a perfect illustration of someone writing about something you know because it felt personal and raw and ugly and chock full of unfiltered vulnerability. It’s just perfect. And crazy.

Mine by Courtney Cole
Wow wow wow! This is my 1st book by this author and I could not put this down! Adultery in a marriage what a topic and what a fantastic read! Tessa thinks her marriage is strong and that Ethan is faithful and loyal but Lindsey will tell you he is not and Lindsey wants what Tessa has. It all comes to a head during one hell of a storm both inside the house and outside…thank you Netgalley and Gallery Books for letting me read this book and give my opinion.
My very first book by this author and WOW, what a book. Drawn in from the very first page I read this in one sitting. Like a train wreck…you keep gawking. In this case, kept reading.
As others have mentioned, this book is all about the cheating that happens in a marriage. What seems to be the perfect marriage to one in the couple….is a unhappy marriage for the other person.
The highs and lows one goes through when discovering by accident that the person that promised until death due us part, has chosen to take another road and break their wedding vows.
Great read!!!
4.5 stars
This was so different from Courtney Cole’s other books and I loved it. Tessa’s worst nightmare has happened. She never thought there would be another woman involved in her and her husband’s marriage. She takes matters into her own hand one night when her husband can’t get home from work.
This book was full of surprises and I loved every minute of it! If you are looking for a good read that pulls you in from the beginning look no further.
This book begins rather slowly with the setting of a hurricane heading to Florida and Tessa all alone at home while her husband Ethan is on a business trip in New York City. Tessa has to do everting to get ready for the impending storm, including put up storm shutters. From the beginning, the reader knows that Tessa is intelligent and resourceful because she is not going to let a little thing like a hurricane keep her from enjoying being at home. Then, the unimaginable happens. Tessa picks up Ethan’s IPad to use since she can’t find hers and is blown away by the nude photos and sexually suggestive messages from some woman named Lindsey. Not willing to accept Ethan’s infidelity, Tessa decides to pretend to be her husband and to invite Lindsey over. That’s when the real fun begins! Both are strong-willed women, but Tessa has right on her side. After all, Ethan is her husband. But Lindsey is equally determined to fight for him. This is the story of betrayal and revenge and it isn’t a pretty one, but it is one that definitely entertains. Tessa was a totally sympathetic character, one who was acting out of the rage that she felt inside. The premise of the book is very interesting, and the drama within the pages is well-written and fast-paced. Told from the perspective of both women, this story tells itself and is not to be missed by fans of thrillers.

After reading the blurb for MINE, I was immediately intrigued. This book had me addicted from the start. The emotion acted out on the audio book was amazing. I didn’t want to shut it off. You can’t help but feel everything Tessa is feeling. I constantly fought a war with myself because I wanted to jump ahead so bad. The anticipation of what was to come was that great. All in all I was glad I didn’t. When I started I couldn’t fathom where this story would go and could never predict where they’d end up.
Now this is what I call a phenomenal psychological thriller! Betrayal, treachery, lies and even ‘kidnapping’! Mine by Courtney Cole is the reason I have serious trust issues when it comes to relationships!
After twenty years of marriage, Tessa Taylor is looking forward to a romantic weekend alone with her husband, Ethan. Suddenly he calls and says he is stuck in a meeting out of town and can’t make it home. With a category 4 hurricane heading towards her, she races back home devastated their weekend is ruined.
With the storm raging outside, she goes searching for her iPad but stumbles upon her husband’s. To her horror she finds raunchy messages and photos with a 26-year-old woman named Lindsey. In shock, but vengeance, Tessa pretends to be her husband and invites Lindsey to come over in the middle of the hurricane to ride out the storm. As everything she thought she knew about her marriage comes crashing around her, she becomes overwhelmed with rage — and it all is focussed on Lindsey. How far will Tessa go to take out her bitterness over her husband’s infidelity on his own mistress?
Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned — so what happens when there are two? Shit get crazy people! This book literally kept me on the edge of my seat, swiping through the pages on my kindle like a madwomen, and within a couple of hours, my jaw hit the ground. Like my other reviews on thrillers, what really makes a fantastic book of this genre is pacing. Courtney Cole has this down to a T!
What really kept me intrigued with this book were the alternating POVs. We are given Tessa’s story in present day and Lindsey’s in the past with how she met Ethan; the two eventually converge as the massive plot twist unravels. By having both sides of these two characters I was able to stay unbiased with the women. I felt like I was in a tug of war trying to figure out which one I was rooting for. Eventually, I realised the man is always to blame in this case!
The only reason I am giving this less stars is because of the too cosy of an ending. Again, I think I’ve read too many suspense and thrillers, and I wanted something darker and more sinister than what we got with Mine. Maybe it’s my drab, ominous heart that wanted the two women to go target the husband in the end, but I’ll just leave that for my own book one day!
Mine by Courtney Cole is a fast-paced thriller that makes you second guess whether you’re ready for commitment — let alone crazy desperate women who want to steal your man! With rage, heartbreak, betray and even revenge — this book gives you whirlwind of emotions, leaving you contemplating; who will win the battle to affirm Ethan is theirs? You’ll want to put this book on your summer reading list!
Thank you to NetGalley, Gallery Books and Courtney Cole for an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

Like what the Eff did I just read!!! A much too close look at the Putrid and rotting side of marriage – adultery!
“Is adultery an inevitability of life? Do men just get tired of their wives and cheat?”
What an Unusual story of double cross & revenge that bounces of like a slinky, upending numerous times. I’ve never read a cheating trope like this before. Or seen A simple subject treated so distinguishly that it is still lingering in my mind. I’m a little more sceptical, a wee bit more cynical towards happy statuses and wholesome family pics that I see everywhere. Who is to say whats hiding behind closed doors in these happy families.
“Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me,”
Courtney is a master at writing fine psychological thrillers. I’ve been her fan since Nocte series and I’m forever confounded that she doesn’t get lost in her own mind. Cause I surely do! One thing to always expect is The Unexpected Factor present in all her books. This story is signature Tate style, Pandora’s box of secrets. Every chapters opens a new box and you keep disovering new layers. The face of the villain keeps changing multiple times and characters move like chess pieces. By the time book ends, you’d be astonished that your loyalties have changed too.
Simple story of a couple-Ethan & Tessa Taylor. Their idyllic family is encroached upon by a siren intruder- Lindsey.
Love doesn’t know boundaries.”
“Maybe not,” I answer.
“But people do. Or people should. Married people are out of bounds.
At least, they should be for any decent person.”
And what happens when lines DO get crossed
Well….Courtney writes a book about it.
I got severe whiplash. The story twisted at EVERY PAGE…legit every page!!
There is NO FIGURING out this story. You will have a delicious or horrendous surprise awaiting at every turn…depending upon whose side you’re rooting for
But yanno what, it doesn’t matter, cause EVERYBODY loses in the end.
I mean there can be no legible end to such a pretzel-ine story.
Three souls, linked together by Greed and jealousy
Greed- to snatch what the other has.
jealousy – why can’t I have that.
They get caught in a cat 4 hurricane…..inside the house. It’s definitely more dangerous and deadly to stay inside than be out and risk your life
This whole time, I’ve wanted an answer to one main question . . . one unthinkable question.
What does Lindsey have that I don’t?
But now, it seems that it wasn’t the right question in the first place.
The right question is . . . what is wrong with my husband?
Courtney has totally changed the meaning and context of the cliché -MINE.
Tessa was inspiringly level headed, Lindsey most unreliable and Ethan was simply a man!!
The whole time my heart was beating wildly, it’s pace is so fast and course so unpredictable, I was on tenterhooks throughout.
If you want to read a book that you want to remember days after you close it…go pick up this one
5 stars for Dumb Charades
I am in a book hangover after reading this. I didn’t like it, but I couldn’t stop reading. I ended up reading it in one sitting. I have many mixed feelings about this book. I thought it was very well written. I like how the past and present are intertwined to form a complete story. I did not like Ethan or Lindsay. I’m not sure how I feel about Tessa. The ending, though satisfying, did not offer complete closure. An epilogue would have been a nice addition.
This book gave me chills in such a good way!
Author Courtney Cole brings it in this angsty, super intense read that had me holding my breathe till the last page.
Once you start reading, believe me you will not be able to put down this book because you will want to know what is going to happen next on Tessa’s journey of finding out what her husband is up to..
It is filled with twists & theories that will make you think.
Characters that are both good and bad in nature but isn’t everyone that way?
I thoroughly enjoyed taking a different approach on reading a book that was all fluffy romance and going in to a dark and twisted world of what would you do if you found out the one you loved wasn’t who you thought they were.
Be ready to find out if the decisions Tessa takes into finding out who her husband really is, is worth the fight to claim him as MINE!
5 popped!
Holy Moly… Ummm, is Tessa a good person? Is she psychotic? I think the answer to both of these questions is YES! Tessa is a good person, she loves her husband and kids, she’s worked hard to start her own business, and she has friends. Yet when she finds out that her husband is cheating on her she loses it. She tricks Lindsey, the mistress, to come over and then they are stuck together during the hurricane.
I liked how Tessa’s good side came out even when she wasn’t being nice to Lindsey. She did little things, said little words, just to show that she wasn’t as bad as she was appearing to be. I also liked that she didn’t just roll over and pretend all was fine when it really wasn’t
This is a psychotic thriller. There are twists that I didn’t see coming but I enjoyed reading Mine by Courtney Cole.
Easily one of my most anticipated reads for 2019, Mine is a stunning domestic drama and more. Told in both past and present, this mesmerizing read is perfectly executed with two women pitted against each other out of their love for the same man. The story takes place over the course of a long night, where Tessa and Lindsay claim Ethan as theirs. This story is a wild ride and left my heart pounding, inducing much anxiety. I thought for sure I’d finish it on one swoop, but I honestly needed a break to gather my senses and quell my emotions. If you enjoy and can take a story about infidelity, this is for you.
The premise is unique and frankly a bit frightening. Ethan and Tessa Taylor have been married for more than two decades when Tessa discovers the ultimate betrayal. Tessa is a successful business woman with a seemingly perfect family and she simply needs to know why Ethan would risk his marriage, what is it about Lindsay that drew him away. Once Tessa’s plan to uncover the extent of his duplicity is set in motion I worried about her and it crossed my mind may times that maybe she wasn’t as stable as I thought. But hey, who would be considering all that she is taking in. What Lindsay provides is a tale of how Ethan fooled both woman into believing his love for them was absolute, and that they knew him better than the other.
As Lindsay slowly answers Tessa’s questions about the affair, my distain for Lindsay and Ethan grew and was clearly in line with Tessa’s. It’s clear that Ethan is the worst kind of cheat – playing hero to his young mistress, leading her to believe he’s leaving his wife for her when he’s simply a serial philanderer. Some pretty astounding events occur throughout this long night as Lindsay shares her history with Ethan. Tessa’s world is upended by these revelations, but she’s also able to exact some level of vengeance on Lindsay to cast doubt on what she believes she shares with Ethan. By the end of the story I actually felt a tad bit sorry for her. But mostly I felt reverence for Tessa and hoped to see Ethan lose it all.
Cole’s storytelling is masterful. Even reading back through highlights drums up all those charged emotions I could feel everything she is feeling; love, hate, disbelief, regret, anger. There simply is not a way to read this this story without feeling the devastation Tessa feels. Most importantly though is how Cole shows Tessa’s transformation from an blissfully devoted wife to a woman empowered by the revelations of the man she married.
“…I’ve wanted an answer to one main question . . . one unthinkable question. What does Lindsey have that I don’t? But now, it seems that it wasn’t the right question in the first place.
The right question is . . . what is wrong with my husband?”
Courtney Cole blew me away with this story and I’m happy to recommend this. 5++ Stars!
