The updated edition of the book that has changed millions of lives with its insights into the growth mindset. After decades of research, world-renowned Stanford University psychologist Carol S. Dweck, Ph.D., discovered a simple but groundbreaking idea: the power of mindset. In this brilliant book, she shows how success in school, work, sports, the arts, and almost every area of human endeavor can … human endeavor can be dramatically influenced by how we think about our talents and abilities. People with a fixed mindset—those who believe that abilities are fixed—are less likely to flourish than those with a growth mindset—those who believe that abilities can be developed. Mindset reveals how great parents, teachers, managers, and athletes can put this idea to use to foster outstanding accomplishment.
In this edition, Dweck offers new insights into her now famous and broadly embraced concept. She introduces a phenomenon she calls false growth mindset and guides people toward adopting a deeper, truer growth mindset. She also expands the mindset concept beyond the individual, applying it to the cultures of groups and organizations. With the right mindset, you can motivate those you lead, teach, and love—to transform their lives and your own.
Praise for Mindset

I usually read fiction, but I highly recommend this nonfiction book for its depth and insight. I realized I’ve always had the “growth” mindset in my writing life, but the “fixed” mindset in other areas, such as exercise—to my detriment. Read the book and you’ll understand what I’m talking about!
Carol Dweck’s University research helps us understand why some of us, adults or children, give up or try again, helps us understand why congratulating our kids for a good effort can backfire, and why telling our employees they’re smart so surely they can exceed can produce the opposite results.

A must read for anyone looking to be, have, and do better!
After reading this book, I stopped saying “I’m just not technical” as I realized the truth was more accurately that I just had not devoted much time learning technical skills, such as HTML. Dweck confronted me to see that I did have a “fixed mindset” in several areas of my life. Now I am choosing a growth mindset! For more on this topic, I …
You gain excellent knowledge about the world around you!
I devoured Mindset: The New Psychology of Success by Carol S. Dweck, Ph.D. over the Christmas break which is not something I do with most of the books I read.
In a large golden circle on the cover Po Bronson, author of NurtureShock states boldly, “Will prove to be one of the most influential books ever about motivation.” This is no …
Brilliant book, very interesting concepts !
So fantastic!
What’s unique about this book is that unlike other self-help books that usually present a lot of key success factors, this book just focuses on one key takeaway. As you can deduce it from the title, the key is mindset and there are 2 types of mindsets: fixed mindset and growth mindset.
Having a fixed mindset means you believe that your qualities …
I highly recommend this book; however, it is very repetitive. The author discusses and explains the topic of Mindset, and then continues on through several chapters about how the concept is applied in various settings from education and art, to pro sports and business management. Read the first chapter and the chapters about areas of your …

This book helped me to truly understand the two different mindsets and extremely powerful impact they have on my life.
