Kaely Quinn’s talents as an FBI behavior analyst are impossible to ignore, no matter how unorthodox her methods. But when a reporter outs her as the daughter of an infamous serial killer, she’s demoted to field agent and transferred to St. Louis. When the same reporter who ruined her career claims to have received an anonymous poem predicting a string of murders, ending with Kaely’s, the … the reporter’s ulterior motives bring his claim into question. But when a body is found that fits the poem’s predictions, the threat is undeniable, and the FBI sends Special Agent Noah Hunter to St. Louis.
Initially resentful of the assignment, Noah is surprised at how quickly his respect for Kaely grows, despite her oddities. But with a brazen serial killer who breaks all the normal patterns on the loose, Noah and Kaely are tested to their limits to catch the murderer before anyone else–including Kaely herself–is killed.

Liked the main character. She was caring but has a lot of personal baggage. Finding a way to have a meaningful life after her horrific childhood was inspirational. Suspenseful til the end.
Couldn’t put it down!
this is a very good mystery, she is a profiler for the fbi and now someone from her past is killing people to get to her, but who is it that is toying with her , wanting to outsmart her with each killing, if you like mysteries that are will written and do not have bad language you will want to read the book
This is the first book in Nancy Mehl’s Kaley Quinn Profiler series, and it’s one of my favorite series. Mind Games is loaded with twists you won’t see coming and jaw-dropping moments! Crime fiction lovers will go wild over this book and this series. Highly recommend!
The title describes it perfectly. It kept me guessing. Even when my husband and I suspected who it was, we weren’t 100% certain till the very end. That is high praise being I’ve read mysteries since I was young, and once I got my husband hooked on mysteries, between the both of us we’re pretty good at figuring out the who done it. Looking forward to the next book!
If you’re looking for a Christian suspense page-turner, this will have you up late trying to get to the end!
This suspense novel really grabbed my attention!
Both of the main characters are extremely well developed. Noah is very by the book and does things the way he was trained to at Quantico. Kaely on the other hand has her own way of figuring out who the UNSUB is. She does start with the standard profiling techniques but then she moves into a different realm that none of the other agents understand.
I was fascinated by the back story of both Noah and Kaely. I enjoyed finding out both of their reasons for jointing the FBI.
The plot was incredible! There were a bunch of twists and turns that kept my interest. I was frantically trying to figure out who the murderer was throughout the book.
What an incredible roller coaster ride! Dead End gives readers so many thrilling plot twists as Kaely Quinn finds herself in the worst possible predicament: facing her serial killer father in an attempt to locate a copy cat killer. Of course, Kaely is one of the most complex characters ever written. She deals with her emotions in the most unusual ways, but this case sends all of her senses spiraling out of control.
While the plot is complex, the characters are even more intricate. Kaely is complicated and at times dark, yet struggles with the fact that she’s human just like everyone else. She never dealt with her past and can’t justify her father’s horrific actions with the fact that he’s still her father. And Noah has waited for Kaely for three books now and in Dead End he watches her unravel as she tries to navigate her inner and outer worlds. But how can he help someone who won’t accept any help?
I’m a fan of this entire series. I recommend reading these in order so definitely start with Mind Games (it’s on Kindle Unlimited). But Dead End brings so much drama and tension with some surprising plot twists. I highly recommend this series to any suspense fans – the plot twists and unique characters make this one of my all time favorites!
Overall: 5 stars (I loved it, couldn’t put it down)
Suspense: 5 stars (Non-stop edge-of-your-seat suspense from start to finish)
I received an ebook review copy of this book through NetGalley. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.
I should warn you that this review has spoilers…Creepy! I expected this to be dark but did it really have to end like it did? Ugh!!! I want to enjoy a book with just a bit of hope. This book was interesting but I hate that the killer was killing for the reason they were. The murders were useless enough but the why was ridiculous! Why is it that almost every book I read in the last month all led to adultery? It’s sickening! I’m just so tired of the ‘Christian’ fiction I read being less clean then the fiction I rarely read. Sighs. Why? What makes every suspense lead to adultery or something of the like?
That’s without mentioning Kaely’s odd and mostly insane way of working in a case. I’m sorry for the author and that I’m giving such a bad review but I’m tired of books that are filled with adultery.
Oh but if you like books with imaginary friends, cats, and talking over a case in public with a suspect who isn’t really there.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I loved the depth of characters, and the vivid writing made me feel like I was watching some of my favorite crime shows. Even though I had my suspicions, the author kept me guessing until the end which I always love in a mystery! I can’t wait for the next one!
I was not sure if I would enjoy a book about a profiler, but I think that Nancy Mehl did a phenomenal job writing this book. There was so much about it that was unexpected. The character development was especially well done. I am looking forward to reading more in this series!
Kaely was an intriguing character, and I was completely fascinated with her job as an FBI Profiler. I personally can “sense things” about other people that end up being true (that no one else can see), so I related to her gift a lot. I also related to her inability to explain it to anyone or feel like she can trust anyone.
The plot was intriguing with the deadly puzzle, and I was constantly suspecting different people all the time. It was truly perplexing! Sometimes I got so frustrated because I thought it was someone she was meeting up with but the team wasn’t protecting her! But in the end, I never did get it all right. That pushed me to keep reading and reading and reading!!
It was especially satisfying that Kaely wasn’t “perfect.” She didn’t figure the mystery out, either, plus she has some major flaws. She’s human with an exceptional gift. And I loved that she didn’t have a predictable ending with either of the men in her life. I didn’t roll my eyes once while reading this story! (Amazing)
I also appreciated that she was highly logical, but her heart wouldn’t let her shut everyone out…not even God. She truly needed God to get her alive through this. Her honesty in admitting that He was healing her from the deep wounds of her childhood was genuine and relatable. I love characters with a lot of depth, and Kaely was definitely wonderful. Many of the other characters were great, too. I truly enjoyed this book!
This book was fun . I kept reading every chance I had to read. Made me think of what I do when truing to figure out a situation.
Wonderful author. Her books are hard to put down, always wanting to turn to next page. I have read most all of her books
Good Read, have read several by this author and enjoyed each one.
The book was well written.
This was a good book, keeps you in suspense. The ending was one I didn’t see coming.
it makes you think about things i life.
This is a very good book with well-developed characters and plenty of action to keep you reading until way past bedtime. It will be particularly enjoyed by those who, like me, have an interest in forensics, profiling and other more or less technical aspects of crime prevention and solution. But the main reason I gave it a full five stars is the following. I am very tired of faith- based books that are billed as suspense, crime-drama, mystery Etc but which turn out to be thinly disguised romance novels. Although there is a hint of romance here which I suspect may be developed in following books of the series, for now at least it is a rather minor subplot. I also like the fact that , although it is obviously written from a Christian worldview, it is not hit you over the head with a hammer evangelistic which means I can safety recommend it to unbelieving friends who might be offended
by a stronger presentation of the Gospel
Really enjoyed this book! Might even read it again.
