Miles is sent to London to search for Vanessa who is missing. He finds himself looking into the disappearance of several other women also. What is the link between these women? Who is taking them and why? How does Vanessa fit into this.
All is revealed in this fast paced, intriguing and well written story which I thoroughly enjoyed.
New Maverick member Miles was happy to be allocated his own case in his hometown of London in the UK until he realised that he knew of the latest kidnap victim – a woman who had touched him deep within his soul years ago and who he had compared all women too afterwards. He was tortured to think that she was in the clutches of a serial kidnapper and might be sold into sexual slavery – failure just was NOT an option on this mission. Model Vanessa tied up and blindfolded. She has no idea where she is nor why she has been kidnapped. All she remembers is leaving her apartment building – she is just hoping and praying that she has been missed, reported missing and someone is trying to find her. When she is found, Miles will be taxed to his absolute limit unravelling and capturing the series kidnapper who has been seen as a serial kidnapper and who has remained hidden for decades.
I loved this story which featured a strong and feisty woman who was definitely the equal of her strong and determined man. There were lots of plots and sub-plots in this story which were unravelled bit by bit as Miles dug further into the mystery that both he and Vanessa were thrown into. There were definitely some surprises along the way and I was definitely surprised by the additional twist that was found in the story near the end of the book. I loved the way they had an attraction that as hard as he tried to ignore it proved to be too much for Miles to ignore any longer. He definitely got all of his Christmas presents in one. Well written it was very enjoyable and easy to feel and empathise with the main characters. Very addictive, I found myself unable to stop reading this story and so read late into the night.
Very exciting story line, and loved the chemistry between Miles and Vanessa. I love how the women in this series know how to stand on their own and don’t wait for a man rescue them from the situations they find themselves in. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was an excellent read. Pretty realistic with what happens in this day and times. Miles is next up on a mission, he thought he’d have more time after giving Ryker help, but nope, Ryker calls and tells him he leaves now. Vanessa is kidnapped outside her apartment and her sister Ruby calls for help. The serial kidnapper is collecting redheads. But he has a helper, ex military. Things get really scary for her and when she thinks she’s out of the woods, she isn’t. Lot’s of action, and some steam, but it doesn’t take over the book. HEA.
Miles a new member of Mavericks is at a cross road and decides to head out on a new mission to save a lady who has gone missing.
Vanessa a model who was on her way to a job finds herself waking up in a strange place tired up and no clue as where she is, why she is there only to find out she is being given way to someone who wants her. Vanessa gets away but this is the start of a journey for both herself and Miles.
Over the course of their investigation, they grow closer and start to enjoy the small things in life together trying to solve a case which covers the past 17 years. Fast pacy, twists and turns a very good read.
My home Country is the setting for this story, not that far from me either. Lots of action, twists and turns that keep this being an excellent and fast paced read, you just have to keep turning the pages. I love the characters and how they work out all the clues between them, each seeing a slightly different angle or coming up with another thread to follow. The romance is like a slow burn in the background. It is interesting while at the same time is a terrifying idea that villains do actually do things like this, there are deranged people that think it’s ok to do stuff along these lines. Compulsive reading.
