As always Jennifer’s Shifters Unbound series remains one of my absolute favs!
Midnight Wolf is book eleven in the Shifters Unbound series by Jennifer Ashley.
Ashley never fails to deliver. I had a delightful time with Midnight Wolf.
The Gist is that Angus has been ordered – forced by the shifter bureau to hunt down a female shifter. The bureau stole his cub to force his hand. Not cool, but the shifter bureau isn’t nice.
Angus and Tamsin are night and day. He’s grumpy and growly with a kind heart. She’s full of life and energy. He plans and she jumps right in. They were perfect and charming together. I enjoyed watching them battle and then fall into the romance. We also learn some fun things about Tamsin. She’s not like any of the previous shifters introduced and I love that Ashley has added this new element.
I always adore when we get cubs in the story. Ashley writes the best cubs! They are just so adorable, fun, and precious. I cherished seeing Angus and Tamsin with Angus’s cub. It warmed my heart.
I also loved that we are in New Orleans so, we get to see and visit the sentient house. If you’ve been reading the series, we first meet the house in Wild Things and it pops back up again in Red Wolf. I love this house.
Then their are all the characters. I just love seeing previous characters pop back up and getting new characters to fall in love with.
As always the action is exhilarating. We get to visit a traveling carnival, have some edge of your seat moments, and get some interesting revelations. It’s an fun ride.
Midnight Wolf is a fabulous edition to the Shifters Unbound series. It’s a good time and I can’t wait to see what’s next.
Rated: 4 Stars
Let me start by thanking The reading cafe!! I won this book in one of their great giveaways!! I have loved the cover for Midnight wolf since it was first revealed its beautiful. This was a awesome shifter romance read and I enjoyed it throughly. I love tamsin the Fox shifter she’s a awesome character full of life, spunk and clever as hell and she leads Angus on a merry chase. Their chemistry was great even though they both fought their attraction to each other. I loved a lot of the secondary characters as well. Over all a great read.
This was not my first book by Jennifer Ashley, and it certainly won’t be my last. I have read the first few books in this series but not all of them. That didn’t make the book any less enjoyable. I was able to keep up and follow along pretty easily during the adventures of Tamsin and Angus.
The love story between Tamsin and Angus, two very different shifters, is sweet, light, humorous, and exciting. We are also reacquainted with past characters and that is a real treat on it’s own.
If you are looking for a light, humorous, exciting paranormal romance with different shifters, then look no further. This fits the bill. It even has an ongoing fae war brewing in the background.
I received this book from Penguin Random House First to Read program. This review was also posted on Amazon.com and Penguin ‘s First To Read.com.
Tamsin is wanted by the Shifter Bureau but they can’t seem to catch her so they kidnap and hold Angus’s cub Ciarian to force him to go after her. Tamsin is a fiery redhead who can slip by you in a blink of an eye which Angus learns very quickly, but somehow he always seems to find her. Angus is very leery of Tamsin but something about her version of the story seems to ring true in his head but he cannot figure out why. Angus along with Tamsin and with his cast of friends travel a good ways to find his cub and answers to a lot of questions.
I love when Shifter stories seem to mimic real life and how the problems are the same only with some excitement thrown in.

A great paranormal romance series
OMG. If I was a fan girl type, this would be THE BOOK of Shifters Unbound for me! It’s got it ALL!! Tiger… Ben… Zander… the sentient house… and the mysterious, rose-gardening Lady Aisling. On top of that we have Angus, the growly wolf shifter whose adorable cub is crazy to have Tamsin for his mom… a traveling carnival owned by a bear shifter and his half-fae mate (my ONLY disappointment, and it was mild, was that they decided not to stay with the carnival! LOL!)… and finding out the origins and special abilities of the rare fox shifters (and why they’re rare)! I mean, this book just ROCKED, I wanted to cry when it ended! I’d give it 10 stars if I could!
Loved this story! Read it in one sitting and couldn’t put it down!
I love how each of the shifter series has something unique as well as connecting all of the books together. This was another great story.
Excellent, fun, exciting. I love this series. They’re all great reads, though my favorites are from the Austin Shiftertown. However, this one was still a sweet and enjoyable read. I liked all of the characters, even the children, which is very hard to do. Most children in books are actually kind of annoying, but Jennifer Ashley is one of like three that can write likeable children in a romance. So overall, great read. Not one of the best, but still good.
Okay I love Ashley/Aiken/Gardner/Laurenston, did I leave out any of her names? When I read these days it is for fun not self improvement, and boy did this one fill the bill. Yep some bad things happen and it is good thing there are magic wielders around in this universe The Ashley titles are more serious than the Aiken or Laurenston ones. This book is cool as it brings back characters from previous books and gives you different perspectives on them. It also introduces a new shifter species, They also are in her Laurenston (Pride) series. I’m not going to say as it as guessing is part of the fun. Anyway if this type of story entertains you please buy a copy. I also just finished her Laurenston book starring her hilarious honey badgers. Can’t wait until the next ones come out.
Not my first book from the author, and will definitely not be the last :).
In this book you follow Tamison as she’s running and hiding from the Shifter bureau that wants her for “questioning”.Angus (who we have met previously in other books) gets dragged in by shifter bureau to track her down.
Both characters are easily liked and the story line flows nicely. You of course get to meet up with some of the old characters from previous books as well as meet a couple of news ones.
I would recommend this book for the story line as well as for the emotions between characters. The author really knows how to pull everything together.
I’m behind in reading this series so I wasn’t sure what to expect with this book. Would I be totally lost? Well I have to say I really enjoyed it. Angus and Tamsyn are so sweet together and Ciaran, Angus’s son, is a treasure (kids can some times be bratty but he is such a cutie, just aching for a mother’s love). There are also lot’s of different, and equally as fun, characters in the book that have probably be introduced in other books so it might help to know their backstory but I didn’t find that not knowing then hindered my enjoyment of this story in any way (although It did make me want to catch up on the missed books). Altogether, I considered this to be a fun and entertaining story with lot’s of interesting characters, a little danger, some fae magic, a bit of shifter growliness and possessiveness, and some nice smexy-times. It was well worth the time spent reading it.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher via First-To-Read. My thoughts and opinions are honest and my own.
Midnight Wolf by Jennifer Ashley is the first Shifter book that I have read. I’m hooked. I am so happy that she has many books in the series so I can binge read. It is a little steamy than what I usually prefer, but that certainly does not detract from the rest of the book nor the 5 star rating it deserves.
Jennifer Ashley’s Shifter world is full of shifter groupies, (I would probably be one too), a house with a mind of its own, beings that shift into awesome creatures, love, and mating for life. This book has all that plus we get to see more of the Shifter Bureau, bad guys with a badge, Angus who will do anything to save his cub, a new shifter? Possibly. If you love shifter stories, this book is for you. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for letting me read the book early. I am voluntarily reviewing the book.
Midnight Wolf (Shifters Unbound, #11) by Jennifer Ashley…..I love this series …this is the 11th book and I still want more. Angus (wolf shifter) is a single father..his mate left him for his brother who was up to no good… He got his cub back and his brother an ex mate were caught and killed. Ciaran is his son and he will do anything to keep him safe. He is forced to track and capture Tamsin (fox shifter) and turn her in. This is their story and journey.. I was lucky to preview this book on #NetGalley and was happy to share their lives for a while. There are laughs and tears getting them to their HEA. Looking forward to #12.
Love Jennifer Ashley’s shifters! Each story gives us answers to the over arching story as well as a very satisfying romance HEA. Her stories are so well crafted!
We got to know Angus Murray, widowed black wolf in Red Wolf. He’s the bouncer at the New Orleans shifter bar. He’s very good at his job and manages to really care about the shifters who come there. His son has been kidnapped by the evil Jayson Haider of the Shifter Bureau to get him to use his tracking skills to find the very elusive Tamsin Calloway. She’s an uncollared, unregistered shifter of unknown variety who find herself in the thick of movements to free shifters. Angus is furious over this tactic and sets out right away. He has little trouble tracking the slippery little lady with flaming red hair the smells not quite right. Turns out she’s an extremely rare fox shifter and she’s very hard to keep captive since her fox form is so small and quick and crafty. Angus’ guardian-protector heart gets in his way of turning her over to the Shifter Bureau, but with the help of his friends Ben, a fae goblin we’ve all come to love, and Zander, the polar bear healer, they get his son back and help Tamsin get away once again. This story takes twists and turns resolving a way to get the shifter bureau off Tamsin’s back so she can live her life in peace. Angus is vested in this plan as his heart is falling fast for Tamsin and get to the bottom of the plot his deceased mate and idiot brother got killed for.
We get to spend time with beloved recurring characters once again: Ben, Zander, Dimitri, the sentient house in New Orleans (oh how I’ve come to love that house), Lady Aisling and others. We make new friends in a traveling carnival, the uncollared bear Dante, his mate Celene a 1/2 fae and their daughter Brina. We even get to find out the origins of fox shifters in this story.
Thank you Jennifer for the ARC of this book for my honest review. I will always be glad to do this service.
Jennifer Ashley has created another fascinating shifter tale in her Shifters Unbound series. As usual with her books, her characters are strong and charismatic with fierce personalities that readers can’t help but become fascinated by as their stories unfold. Tamsin and Angus’s story starts off with lots of excitement and keeps an energetic and fast pace as their sizzling chemistry and rocky meeting keeps this couple on turbulent path full of smoldering passion, thrilling danger and shaky relationship.
Enemies of the shifters keep this couple on the run during this fast paced and exciting story where anticipation and suspense continuously build, keeping the readers on the edge of their seat and glued to the pages during some exhilarating twists and turns that ensure that readers want to find out what will happen next.
Jennifer Ashley’s Shifters Unbound series continuously astounds me with wonderful characters and a fascinating world. She brings it all to vibrant life and makes me feel as if I am a part of this world as I enjoy each and every couple’s story. I was so enthralled with Midnight Wolf that I ended up staying way past bedtime so that I could finish the book and find out if Tamsin and Angus got their happily ever after and just how everything worked out for them with the bad guys, of course now I am waiting impatiently for the next book, which I believe releases at the end of May.
MIDNIGHT WOLF is the eleventh full-length novel in Jennifer Ashley’s contemporary, adult SHIFTERS UNBOUND paranormal/ fantasy romance series. This is lupine shifter/tracker Angus Murray, and Tamsin Calloway’s story line. MIDNIGHT WOLF can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but for cohesion and backstory I recommend reading the series in order as there is a continuing arc focusing on the impending war with the Fae.
SOME BACKGROUND: Thousands of years in the past, the Fae created the shifters-a cross between beast and man-and in the ensuing time the Fae lost control and power over the battle creatures they had created for war. Approximately twenty years ago shifters were exposed to the human population. Out of fear, discrimination and specieism, the shifters were collared with Fae magic in the belief that it would control aggression; then they were forced into segregated communities known as Shiftertowns. There are several Shiftertowns located throughout America where shifters live in a relative but strained peace amongst their own kind.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Tamsin and Angus) MIDNIGHT WOLF follows lupine shifter and tracker Angus Murray as he is forced by the Shifter Bureau to track an uncollared shifter of unknown origin. Enter Tamsin Calloway, a rogue, female shifter, and the woman with whom Angus will fall in love. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Tamsin and Angus as our couple tries to stay one step ahead of the Shifter Bureau whose intent is to dissect and destroy our story line heroine.
Angus Murray is a single father, working as a bouncer when threats against his family force our hero to go on the hunt. With his cub in custody Angus has no choice but to do the Bureau’s bidding, as he searches for the rogue female he knows nothing about. Tamsin Calloway has spent most of her life on the run. Collar-less, and without support of any kind, Tamsin finds herself on the Bureau’s most wanted list for a series of crimes but none more so than the information she keeps secreted in her mind. Meeting Angus Murray never felt so right or so wrong including the maternal feelings that arose when she met Angus’s motherless cub.
The relationship between Angus and Tamsin is a forced friendship in order for our heroine to survive. Targeted by the Bureau, and thusly Angus Murray, Tamsin must succumb to her captor or find herself on the receiving end of imprisonment or worse. Falling in love was never on the agenda but a mate bond is claimed by Angus to protect the woman with whom he has fallen in love. The $ex scenes are passionate but limited, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
There is a very large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including the return of Tiger and Carly, Ben, Zander and Rae, Dimitri and Jaycee, Dylan and Sean, as well as the introduction of bear shifter and carnival owner Dante, his mate Celene and their daughter Brina, and Angus’s son Ciaran. The requisite evil has many faces including several members of the Shifter Bureau.
The world building continues to focus on the potential war between the shifter and the Fae, but follows the ongoing discrimination of shifters: the laws to collar and control, as well as the segregation and Shiftertowns meant to isolate those deemed different.
MIDNIGHT WOLF is an exciting, detailed story line about trust and betrayal, family and friendship, fated mates and happily ever afters. The premise is thrilling and fascination; the characters are colorful, energetic and inspiring; the romance is intimate and animated. MIDNIGHT WOLF is a welcome addition to Jennifer Ashley’s Shifters Unbound- a cross-country journey as fated mates stay one step ahead of a potential take down and catastrophic danger to all involved.
