This was such a good book & the main & secondary characters were all so loving, kind & loyal – you wanted Lady Rachel St. Clair & Major Evan Drake, Marquess of Merrick to find their HEA from the beginning of the story. The tale Ms. Aston has created was full of spice, importance of family/friends, romance, emotional demons left from the war, humor & so much more. I highly recommend this wonderful book to all historical romance readers. I am looking forward to reading the next one in the series.
Lady Rachel St. Clair wants nothing more than a marriage full of love. She could care less if she never married, but love would be the only reason. At a house party, she meets Major Evan Drake, Marquess of Merrick, an officer returning home from the Peninsular War and believes that she may have found her match. As they meet each night at midnight; the Major teaches Rachel the proper way to kiss. Yes, kissing lessons that could possibly lead to love and a wonderful marriage. But things do not go as planned and the Major is found out by Rachel’s older brother and ordered never to see her again. Things soon go from bad to worse, as Evan sinks deeper and deeper into drink. This is a wonderful romantic; at times a tragic love story, that keeps you reading to perceive what happens next.
Midnight with the Marquess, by Alexa Aston. I must say that I am pleasantly pleased with this book. For me, the author has done a wonderful job of pulling together a dramatic, but poignant topic that effects most people today. In my opinion, the writer inserted these dramatic issues, elevating this romantic story to a higher level of appreciation from me. I am so impressed by this book.
The love. The encouragement. The support from family and friends prevented me from putting this book down. Evan is a man that I will always return to when asked who was your favorite male character in a book. This man captivated my heart.
All the struggles and the up hill battles that he went through by himself really touched my compassionate side. The love he has for Rachel was a hot inferno that was ablaze every time he laid those smoldering eyes on her. Reading their love affair, I definitely enjoyed. I loved the ease of reading this book. I found all the characters very entertaining.
The book reads with enough realism, allowing me to connect with the story, there for allowing me to enjoy this extraordinary read. Until next time my my fellow readers… read on!
I absolutely loved this story! My heart was involved from the very first page to the last one. Alexa Aston writes the kind of books that I adore, with strong heroes and heroines who aren’t perfect and have to deal with personal setbacks but who fight for love with all their worth once they find THE one!!
Rachel is young, innocent and on the marriage mart but she wants to marry for love. She wants the kind of love that those close to her have found. Evan is a broken war hero who has never experienced love, even as a child. When he meets Rachel and ends up teaching her the art of kissing, love isn’t far behind but how does one know what love is if you’ve never had it?! There are some scenes when I cried and others when I laughed. An emotional roller coaster for sure!!
“Midnight with the Marquess” is worth the read, don’t miss it!
Sweet
I loved this story! Evan has been throughout much in his life, from seeing his mother murdered by his father to the hells of war. Rachel has grown up so opposite of Evan she has grow being surrounded by love and being loved by her family. She is perfect for Evan but he knows he is not good enough for someone like her. This is the story of how someone can heal and love. There are some big obstacles that they have to overcome to be together, but what a story. I just loved both Evan and Rachel and I definitely recommend this book. Alexa Aston has another winner!
Two people, each with a different feeling about love. One has witnessed it and believes it exists and one has only seen sorrow and knows it does not. Can these two ever come together and what will it take?
As the story begins, I could only feel horror at what Evan witnessed when he was only six years old. His father murder his mother, but luckily he was not seen or he probably would have been killed also. Now he had returned from the war almost broken in body and mind. But he has an estate and hopes he will be able to settle down with his life now.
Lady Rachel has been having a disapponting season because she has not been able to find a man that makes her feel love, which she longs for so much! But when she meets Evan, just maybe they can find love! Unfortunately it is not always that simple and these two have a journey to take. Will they find that elusive feeling and can Evan open his heart?
An amazing story that really pulled at my emotions. I could only hope that Evan received the love he needed and Rachel let him in and helped soothe his heart. Alex Aston has made a wonderful foray into the Regency world and I cannot wait to read more in this series!! (l
Major Evan Drake, the Marquess if Merrick has come home from the war with no idea what to do with his life now. He has been estranged from his father since his mother’s death, and wants nothing to do with him. Luckily he has an estate of his own very close to his bestfriend. His friend will help him settle back into life in England, he hopes.
Lady Rachel St. Clair has had her sister marry a Duke for love, and now her bestfriend is marrying the love of her life as well. All Rachel wants to do is find a man she can love and who loves her. The season so far has not held any man that interests her, and it’s nearly over.
Our hero thinks he is fine, but is carrying more emotional baggage than he knows. He has a difficult road ahead. Our heroine knows exactly what she wants and will style for nothing less.
A lovely romantic story with great characters, who bring us the highs and lows of love.
A thoroughly enjoyable read that is part of a series. Each book can be read on it’s own.
Loved it.
