I got one word…. Deacon, and we aren’t talking about the Deacon you find in church ladies…this shifter will steal your heart! He’s the funny guy with heart. He’s totally swoon worthy….
“Why do you think I call you Starshine?” he whispered. “You shine brighter than any precious gem. When we first met, you reminded me of the stars on a clear night – bright, beautiful and completely out of my reach.” ~ Deacon

This book was a difficult journey for Gemma and Deacon. In book one Deacon is the comic relief, doesn’t let anything get him down. In book two, we find out there are more layers to Deacon than what he lets the outside world see. Yep, to be cliché, Deacon is an onion, layers upon layers.
Gemma is struggling. Struggling with her new normal, the ramifications of the events in book one, she is struggling to heal and not be a victim. Deacon is the crazy to match her crazy, and it is interesting to see Deacon help her on her journey to healing! I will admit that there is a lot of pain in this book, and that sometimes it just takes your breath away and makes you wish you could just hide under a blanket and pretend everything is hunky dory.
This story goes in directions I wasn’t prepared. L. Ann has taken this shifter trope and flipped it on it’s ass. Once again, WARNING: This book has triggers and dark undertones. If that is outside your comfort zone, I don’t recommend. However, this book is original, and the storyline is fresh. Just beware, everything is not as it seems. and I think we are about to step (or be thrown) off the ledge…
You will love Deacon and Gemma’s story! It has romance, suspense, healing and of course the hunt for revenge. Revenge is my favorite activity, I mean trope. I picked up the book immediately after reading Midnight Touch and simply couldn’t put it down until I finished it. I couldn’t stop turning the pages….There is a major storm coming and things are about to get real interesting for the midnight pack!
There is so much to this story and I don’t want to spoil any of it because that is half the fun. I will admit that L. Ann scares me because she isn’t afraid to yank the rug right out from under you. Just when you think you know what’s going to happen, yank…and you are left wondering WTH just happened. Just when you start to feel comfortable again…yank.
So for me to reread any book is a recommendation in itself. For me to reread an entire series…I can count on one hand how many series I would reread. All I can say, I recommend! Grab this series and start reading! I don’t think you will be disappointed.
Wow!! It has been a long time since a story contained a twist and turn that I didn’t anticipate in some way. This book actually overlapped the first book at the very beginning. The book is told from Deacon and Gemma’s perspectives. So much happens in such a short time. It’s like the pack can’t catch a break. Many questions were answered, but a worse situation has now presented itself and the problem is much deeper than originally suspected. I am enjoying this series. It is entertaining and I look forward to reading Cormac’s book. I would recommend reading this series in order otherwise, I think you will miss some things.
Oh the twists and turns weaved into this story. It had me on the edge of my seat just dying to know what happens next. Deacon and Gemma were like oil and water for a while but then the blended together beautifully. Can’t wait to see how this concludes.
Wow! This book starts off right where the first ended and we get the next brother’s story and mate. So much pain and strength is shown in this book with all the characters. I can only imagine what will be coming next in the final book of this series.
Fantastic PNR & Narration Fascinating Story!
Midnight Temptation
Midnight Pack, Book 2
By: L. Ann
Narrated by: Mike Peterman
L. Ann continues her “Midnight Pack” series with Deacon’s story. Deacon was introduced in the first book of the series, “Midnight Touch” he is Sean’s twin brother. This book picks up when Sean and Gemma were rescued and brought home. Gemma is Cassie’s sister, she and Deacon had a special bond, a love hate type of bond, they constantly bickered back and forth. I loved the chemistry between these two, also loved the nickname Deacon used for her, “Starshine”. Gemma was traumatized during her captivity and has not been herself, Deacon is doing what he can to bring the old Gemma back. I adored him for his persistence and determination and for sticking by her. Damian is still a thorn in the packs side and there are other threats out there as well. L. Ann delivers another fascinating book, it is well plotted with plenty of drama, angst, twists, some thrilling suspense and some great romance. Thank you L. Ann for another fantastic story and emotional rollercoaster ride, I am looking forward to what is to come in Cormac’s story “Midnight Torment”. And what he and the pack does with all the things they found out in this book.
I listened to the Audible edition, Mike Peterman is a fantastic narrator and voice artist. He continues to bring these character and their story to life. He covers the voices for all the characters, gives each their own unique sound and switches roles back and forth flawlessly never missing a beat. He is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another great listen
Midnight Temptation continues the Midnight Pack series with Deacon and Gemma’s story. It is every bit as good as book 1 and I have high hopes for the rest of the series. So glad I found this author!
The chemistry between Deacon and Gemma is hot!
The storyline is original and fast paced.
I’m addicted to this series
Love this series. This is Deacon’s story. This series should be read in order. Deacon is witty and will keep you laughing. You will fall in love with him and want to throttle him in the next breath. This series is addictive and I consider a MUST read ! You will be glad that you did
The second installment of the Midnight pack revolves around Shaun’s twin brother, Deacon and Cassie’s sister, Gemma. The twins are wolf-shifters along with their older brother Cormac who is the alpha of the pack. Every bit as engaging as the first novel, I loved Deacon’s portrayal as the reluctant hero. As flippant and arrogant as he attempts to seem, he has definitely met his match with the strong-willed Gemma. I loved the ongoing intrigue surrounding the town with the added mystery of the brother’s cousin who they believed was dead. I’m looking forward to the third brother’s story. Highly Recommended!
Second in series and I think it may be better than first book if that is possible. Pulls you in from first to last page.Chemistry is amazing between the two main characters. Well written, humor when needed, emotional, twist that didn’t see coming, action packed and sexy parts also. Impatiently waiting for next in series.
Things are not what they seem!
The midnight pack have a way to go in understanding what’s really going on. This book is a continuation of midnight touch. The book pretty much picks up where the first left off, so be sure to read Midnight touch first.
Deacon and Gemma’s story, is a great battle of wills that will have you going from laughing to swooning in a matter of a few lines.
The issues raised were sensitively done and did not dominate the story as a whole.
You still get those little snippets of what’s about to come in the next book, which I can’t wait to read I’m sure Mac’s story is going to be just as hot as the the rest.
Midnight Temptation is the second book in the Midnight Pack series by L Ann. I was hooked the minute I started reading and I couldn’t put it down. It is steamy, fast paced, and action packed. This series has everything I love in a shifter romance. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series to see what’s next for the Midnight Pack!
Midnight Temptation is book two in L. Ann’s steamy shifter series and this book does NOT disappoint! It picks up where book one left off, but with a small shift in who are the focal characters. Now it’s Gemma and Deacon’s story. Gemma is dealing with the shock and horror that she endured while being held captive by Deacon’s cousin. Deacon wants her to deal with what happened so that she can deal, but she doesn’t want to. She blames herself but wants to say that she’s not a victim. The struggle is real for these characters to deal with each other, but the chemistry between them is FIRE! The question is…can they get through this? Or will Gemma’s stubbornness cost them? Add in that the evil cousin is still running around, masking his scent, and the dangers keep piling up! Grab. This. Book!!
Midnight Temptation is indeed a temptation! You’ll find yourself drawn into this story so deeply that you’ll need a fan from the steam coming off the pages. The build-up is insane! The author is such a tease with certain scenes that she literally keeps you page-turning and begging for more. Then she quickly flips the script and makes you want to shake Gemma. LOL! Deacon is no angel of course, but I appreciate that he is trying to hold it together. He wants to protect Gemma, but he needs her to stop running away from what happened. These two are constantly drawn to each other like magnets and I loved every minute of it.
This story packs it all – some humor, steamy romance, danger, suspense, and revelations. I honestly appreciate that the author recaps and provides us with repeats of certain scenes and situations from the first book between these two. It helped keep me further engaged in the story and eager for more. I loved the refreshers because it has been a while since I read the first book and this allowed me to enjoy this book without feeling like I’m missing something.
If you read the first book, then you need to grab this one and dive in! But clear your schedule! If you start reading at night…get a glass of your favorite drink, settle in and don’t plan on sleeping. If you start reading during the day…find a nice quiet place to read, favorite drink and don’t plan on stopping until you’ve hit the last page.
I am rating this book 5 out of 5 stars. I was hot and bothered and drooling more times than I’m willing to admit. LOL! This author knows how to tell a great story!
The second book in this series and is just as great as the first. Its Deacon and Gemmas story and i completely fell in love with these two. Its got just enough action and everything else i love in it.
This series keeps getting better. I loved the twists and the emotional rollercoaster I went on. I am loving these shifters! Mostly because these books are different from other shifter novels. Great job! I am definitely looking forward to the next one!!
Loved this Book of two people coming together in different circumstances and fighting love
Midnight Temptation picks up right where Midnight Touch leaves off so if you haven’t read Midnight Touch, you’ll miss stuff. Deacon and Gemma are the focus of Temptation, and I love their relationship! The back and forth banter between them started in the first book and delightfully continues here as Gemma pretends to hate Deacon. Because of what happens to her in Midnight Touch, she’s got some pretty heavy stuff to deal with, which is understandable. Deacon has his own demons to deal with, and watching the two of them figure it out was both entertaining and frustrating. Just when it seemed as if Gemma was going to be in denial of what happened to her forever and I thought I had things figured out – boom! Major twist that I did not see coming! Throughout the whole book! So in addition to the charm of our main MC’s, there is a very good and often suspenseful plot that involves some well loved familiar characters and even a few new ones. We learn more about the hunters history as well as our whole cast of characters. Everyone from Touch is in this book too including Cassie and Shaun whose story continues. Plus we learn more about Cormac and there’s some nice hints as to his book. It was hard to put this book down for things like sleep and work, such meddlesome time wasters! I’m looking forward to the third book and dreading when it’s over all at the same time. Love this series.
“Do you keep running from me because you want me to chase you? Or because I scare you?”
Holy Hannah this was amazing!!! I’ve read many shifter books, and I have to tell you, these wolves? They are the hottest shifters, hands down!!! Gah!! I so wish there were really wolf shifters in this world, because I’ll be first in line to try to make one mine!! (Ooooh!! Do you think there could be?)
Gemma Duncan is finally free. Free from that monster and the cage he kept her in. But she’s still in a prison of self-loathing, guilt, and shame. It was all her fault – what happened to Shaun, what happened to her – all of it her fault. They all look at her with pity, but they’d hate her if they knew. But Deacon doesn’t look at her that way. No, he looks at her with a hunger she can’t resist. He’s pushing her buttons with every other sentence – forcing her to fight when she just wants to curl up and hide. When danger finds the pack once again, she knows he’ll lay down his life to protect her. But this time, their roles may just be reversed.
Deacon Jacobs isn’t looking for a mate. He’s just not the mating kind of wolf. But something about Gemma calls to him. He can’t explain it, nor can he resist it. But she’s broken after what happened. He won’t let her withdraw inside herself and carry the guilt any longer. That monster, Damien, will pay for what he did to his pack – to Gemma. But, not everything is what is seems to be. There is more going on than anyone could have imagined, and Deacon just might pay the ultimate price.
I absolutely love this series. I think the sexiest thing Deacon said was “You need to take your hands off her. My wolf doesn’t like it.” SWOOOOON!!! I thought I was calling dibs on Shaun from Midnight Touch. Nuh-uh. I’m calling dibs on Deacon. I’ll probably call dibs on each of them as their stories come out, but hey, a girl has a right to be fickle. Y’all definitely have to read this one!!
Love this series can’t wait to see what’s written next!!
If I could give a ten-star review for a book I would give this book ten. I enjoyed every second of this book. It was funny, had excitement, romance, and I shed a few tears a well. I highly recommend this book if you want a good entertaining book to read. The only thing I advise is that you read the first book before you read this one. It is as good as this book.
