KNEEL
Summary:
Dash Justice wrote the songs everyone sings.
His face hangs on every girl’s wall. But Dash wasn’t always a rock God.
Once, he was just Jamie, the boy I loved.
But when my name, sung from his lips promised I was good for only one thing, all sweet thoughts of him die.
Now his excuses mean nothing. His apologies are weak and I’m about to show the world that even rock Gods can be brought to their knees.
BEG
Summary:
I am a liar. My words were poison and everything I touched got filthy.
Except Iris.
She was the best part of who I was. The only bright spark in my dull, gray world.
But denial made me stupid and a cruel insult destroyed everything I hoped to have with the girl of my dreams.
Now I will crawl on my knees and grovel because sometimes, even rock Gods have to beg.

I enjoyed this 2 book set- Midnight Soul, which somehow slipped past me, until a friend recommended it recently. I jumped right in because I do love this genre more than any other. Kneel was good and set the mood of the story, but I really thought the 2nd book, Beg was the best part of the duet. Nothing feels more satisfying than seeing someone who wronged you have to crawl over a little bit of glass to try to win your good graces back!
The young friendship that began between the lead characters as teens, as sometimes happens, turned into more. Jamie and Iris, both sweet and innocent, were everything to one another- they shared so much- had a connection like no other- loving the music and each and nothing else seemed to matter. When it eventually comes to a bitter end, their emotions run the full gamut- disbelief turned into hurt, pain and such sadness, it was almost unbearable.
As time moved on, so did they, but what else could come next but the pent up anger and angsty drama that blew up so spectacularly, I was shocked at how it played out. This eventually leads them down an entirely new and different path, resetting the scene and allowing the drama to begin again!
I was alittle confused sometimes as to who was talking and when. There is an interesting past/present telling, but I found myself wondering here and there, what was really going on and had to swing back to reread a sentence or two to figure it out. Maybe part of this was the fact that it was my 1st time reading this author and had to become more familiar with her unique writing style.
Overall, none of the things I’ve mentioned stopped me from finishing both books. In fact, Beg, was so good, I was whipping thru, needing to discover how it all played out and pronto! There was a huge surprise, didn’t see it coming at all, but finding out what it was became one of my favorite parts of Beg. This revelation tied so much together, bringing the story and the characters full circle…loved that.
I was having so much fun using the translation feature on my Kindle, so many Spanish words and phrases I needed to discover the meaning of for maximum enjoyment… turned out some were very sigh-worthy. Both the lead characters had my interest, even if I wanted to lock them in a room together now and then, until they learned how to figure **** out! Sweet as they had been way back when, both were changed and affected by the circumstances of one night long ago and sometimes not for the better.
If you love a good rockstar romance that pairs a smoldering hot leading man with a very strong, independent lady, who both know how to press some emotional buttons and push you through the ringer…give Midnight Soul- with Beg and Kneel all in one place, a shot sometime soon.
