A standalone romance from the New York Times bestselling author of Archer’s Voice.Holden Scott is the prince of professional football. At least he was before he lost it all . . . or more to the point, before he threw it all away. Now he’s out of a job, out of the public’s good graces, and perhaps just a little out of his mind. So when a friend offers up his remote lodge in the wilds of Colorado, … offers up his remote lodge in the wilds of Colorado, giving Holden some time away to get his life back on track, he can hardly say no. The last thing he expects is to see a beautiful girl in the woods—one wearing a white, lace dress who appears in the moonlight, and leaves no footprints behind. Is she a dream? A ghost? A product of his muddled imagination? Or something entirely different?
Midnight Lily is the haunting love story of two lost souls reaching for each other in the dark. A tale of healing, acceptance, and the worlds we create to protect our own hearts. It is a story of being lost, of being found, and of being in the place between.
THIS IS A STAND-ALONE SIGN OF LOVE NOVEL, INSPIRED BY VIRGO. Non-Paranormal, New Adult Contemporary Romance: Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

Listen.. I don’t know what just happened here, but I know that I am rethinking the whole entire book. From the start. Because I am just like, WHAT?
The first half of the book moved slow for me, it was depressing too, so I had to take a break. I dove back in this morning because everyone said the twist was just fantastic so I knew I had to finish. The twist was like nothing I have ever read before. I thought I knew what was happening and thought I knew the outcome 4 different times, I was wrong, on all of them.
I enjoyed this book and kept going because I really wanted to be Wowed. I was Wowed with the twist and definitely am left questioning everything I read, but I also felt like it moved slow for me. I am leaving this review SUPER VAGUE because you need to go in blind. I did, and I am happy about that.
I am sooooo confused right now, I’m really unsure what was reality and what wasn’t. It was a great story and I was thoroughly enjoying the ride until I get to the WTH moment and I’m like ok what about… and also… but then… what if… I definitely think this book would benefit from a reread. With the plot twists in mind I’m almost certain I would look at it from a different perspective abs pick up in the more subtle clues.
It was a very intricately woven plot and I’m left thinking about things long after I’ve finished and a good book does that but I also like a little bit of clarity so I can look back and go ahhh yes…. I remember that bit now this bit makes sense.
As for the characters well who knows lol but it’s true what they say about birds of a feather
6 stars!!
Omg! This book was AMAZING! I loved the characters, how they connected with each other, their back stories, and especially their ending.
I was enchanted from the first first chapter. Invested in their lives, waiting with bated breath to see what happened next!
I loved Everything about this book!!
A tale of two minds
I’m slowing working my way through a range of KU books and was delighted when I came across Midnight Lily. Archer’s Voice is still my go-to book by Mia Sheridan and I was keen to see how this story would hold up by comparison.
As other reviewers have said, this story is very complex, emotive, disturbing and overall felt like more of a psychological suspense story with a romantic undertone aimed at drawing readers through the darkness of the characters’ minds.
The writing, as expected, was very strong. You could not foresee where the story was headed and the mystery keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout the book. Both of the key protagonists have their own demons that they are battling but you are drip-fed their individual stories and backgrounds as the book progresses. Even towards the end of the book, you read with a sense of uncertainty over what may still happen, despite questioning whether the story to that point actually took place. In some respects, this book requires at least a second or even third read in order to straighten any questions still lingering in your mind.
Whilst the story is told in a methodical way the book also seems fast-paced and it’s that pace that makes you read on with trepidation for what is yet to come. Despite the complexity of this story and the imaginative and sensitive theme, the book leaves you with a sense of unease and, in some respects, with more questions than answers. That in itself brings the story to life in a way most other books fail to do. This is not just a love story, it’s a love story that stems from a kind of madness that is almost too painful to bear witness to. This is definitely a story to read and read again.
Am I falling into Wonderland???
Living life at the top of your game is thrilling and exhilarating. For Holden, life as a professional football player is everything a man could want….fame, women, and the limelight. Then life kind of spiraled out of control. A string of poor decisions has left Holden far from the pedestal he is accustom to. With the push for a second chance, Holden heads to the mountains of Colorado to spend time alone….reflecting on where he has been, deciding if he wants what he once had, and the chance to get his life back on track.
Spending time in this remote location makes the days and nights extremely long. A desire for the comforts of his life litter Holden’s mind. Someone to share the ups and downs would come in handy right about now. Of course, that is the last thing Holden expected to come face to face with. A beautiful girl that beckons Holden to the woods. Lily comes to Holden when life seems to be the hardest. Where she leads him….well, I will not spoil it for you!!
Midnight Lily is going to be a book that is talked about for quite some time. It is a journey down a rabbit hole that will leave you wondering if you are really Alice!! Mia Sheridan has always treated readers to writing that leaves you faced with real life scenarios that pull at your heart. Most of Mia’s books will leave you thinking of the story for days to come. Midnight Lily is no exception.
Typically – I will write a review that encompasses events throughout the story without giving away the plot. Well – for the first time ever….I can’t do that!!! Everything that I can think of to ‘talk’ about gives away sneak peeks into the story. Trust me….you do not want anyone to give you hints at Midnight Lily.
One thing I can tell you…..readers will be faced with plenty of ‘scratch your head’ moments. So much so that you will either connect with the story or you won’t. Personally – I needed a self-help group to understand what I read. Sounds crazy doesn’t it??? Well – Midnight Lily tackles a subject that writers would normally shy away from. Not Mia….she has tackled it head on….well, sort of.
Sound confusing yet? Well….I can’t really explain my thoughts. Every single time I try to write my review, I have to erase it and start all over again….scared I am giving major spoilers away. One thing I will say ….read Midnight Lily yourself! Find out what has the book world in a ‘buzz’. You definitely will not forget this book anytime soon!!
Wonderful read
“I dreamed of her, and in the darkness, she held me in her arms.”
Midnight Lily is a very unique love story. I haven’t read anything like it before, and it was full of twists. I love Mia’s writing and adore each and every book she has written so far. She really created a very original story with imperfectly perfect characters.
“Happily ever after doesn’t mean a lifetime of perfection.”
This book had such a mysterious feel to it, and it had many plot twists. There were some times I was a bit confused but I like books that keep me guessing. It wasn’t predictable at all. Both characters have been through a lot in their pasts, it really broke my heart reading those scenes. Their love isn’t perfect at all but it is just perfect for them.
“We will never be perfect or without flaws, the lives we’ve been given are not like that. But, Lily, in my heart, you are perfect for me. Perfectly mine. And I’m yours.”
I will not go into detail because I think the best way to go into this book is BLIND. You will have many questions throughout this book.. For some you will get answers to others you won’t. The writing was great and I really liked that we got both characters’ POV. The reason for why I didn’t give it 5 stars is because I don’t know what to think of the ending of this book. I need some time to process it! I am looking forward to Mia Sheridan’s next book! EDIT: Had some time to process and decided to rate it 5 stars! <3
"Where do you land? In your arms. I land in your arms, and you land in mine."
“It might not be your choice. And, baby girl, the ones who see what we carry and want us anyway, those are the ones to hold on to.“
Recently I finally delved into my TBR pile, I’ve been sitting on this one since last year! When I began, I had no idea what was going to happen. The blurb gives you the story … sort of. But what happens in this story is something I never would have expected.
There’s not a lot I can say about this book without letting on to what happens. And trust me, the feelings would have been different had I gone into this story knowing what was going to happen, heck I may not have even read it.
Although I didn’t exactly relate to this story, I came to some bit of settling when it was through. I think the characters told the story the best way they could, and from the perspective they each had. It was definitely interesting, because I’ve never read a story written in quite the same perspective before.
In the end, this wasn’t one of my favorite stories. That being said, it was one of the most interesting takes on a love story that I’ve read. It has all the elements of a great love story, with just a bit more underlying the plot. Give it a try, but when you do, remember to keep an open mind and not to let your criticisms outweigh your appreciation for a love story we might not all understand.
