Dark Mysterious Garden!
Mystery abounds in this chilling dark, haunting tale of family secrets, betrayal, and murder. A completely captivating story full of suspense, twists and drama surrounding the ghost of the magical garden. Good read but it’ll give you goosebumps. Enjoy!
I received an arc copy and am happy to leave my honest review.
I have been a Wonky Inn fan for some time now but this book blew me away. I love it. I’m hoping for more like this. This is darker and intriguing with incredible twists and I am hooked.

Lisa knew her mother was very close to death but returned home only because she had no where else to go. After Lisa’s father and brother died, her mother shut herself off and had only hateful things to say to Lisa. Now, Lisa’s memories, some guilty, come back and most of them are centered around the now-decrepit mansion and the scary old woman who used to live there. She’s drawn to a mysterious young woman she sees there late one night, following her around the house to the back gardens, incongruously in full bloom and well take care of. Lisa tries to integrate her memories with what she sees in the garden after midnight and what she learns from conversations with her mother, but it just doesn’t make sense. Or at least, in a sane world it doesn’t make sense.
This is a really cool book with an ending that blew me away. It’s darker than the author’s cozy mystery books I’m used to, but don’t let that stop you. I would absolutely give this one a read.

Lisa comes home to see her estranged mother’s last days. While doing so she is invited to visit a garden that had ben forbidden to her for her whole life, but she is only allowed to enter after midnight. A dangerous time to visit, but she cannot resist the invitation.
The book is different in some ways as usually the heroine of the story is a teenager discovering who they really were. In this story Lis a is around 40 and set in her life. Changes of conception and life come a lot more difficult.
An interesting story which made me curious to find out more about the story and how Lisa’s adventures continue. I am looking forward to Book 2

Lisa is back home after 12 years to see her mother die not by her hands but by cancer and while she thinks her mother dying will help her get back in control of her life after losing her marriage, her home and her job she may be very wrong. This is such a dark yet intriguing read and I just loved the hints sprinkled through the book that all came together in understanding once you got to the end and oh what a wickedly captivating ending it was!!! I thought Jeannie’s Wonky Inn series was great but this is just well… I want more!!!

Paranormal ‘Tales From The Crypt’ Type Story
This is the kind of creepy story that I hate. It gave me goosebumps and will likely give me bad dreams. I know may readers love this kind of paranormal story. Those readers will love this one! I received this ARC for free from Booksprouts and this is my honest review.
Creepy, twisted, bizarre. Everything you want in a book! I loved reading this and I did not see what was coming in the end. A horrific change from Jeannie Wycherley’s normal style, but wonderfully written!
She stepped outside of the cab, lost in memories. The large four-story Georgian terrace started in the basement and towered above everything. She had spent 18 years of her life here, dreaming only of escape. Now she was back. She let herself inside with the key she still had, turned on the dim yellow light, and saw that nothing had changed in the 12 years since she had last been here. Taking the lighter of her bags, Lisa headed up to her bedroom, a small room tucked into the attic area and facing the street. They used to have a small garden in the backyard, but her mother had it paved over when her brother died. She would rather be anywhere else in the world right now – but she had no place else to be.
Early the next morning, a cheerful Cathy Meadows greeted her. She cared for Lisa’s mother Monday through Friday. When she went in to see her mother, she was nothing but a bag of bones! It was obvious she wouldn’t survive much longer. She finished reading a chapter of a book to her mother who drifted off, then went to close the curtains. She saw movement across the street. The Victorian, in bad shape, had a For Sale sign on it now. Grey smoke rose from one of the chimneys. Her curiosity aroused, she wants to go check out the garden. She is invited to explore – but only after midnight! Does it have secrets for her to discover? Can she find out more about the owner and perhaps find an answer to a mystery from the past?
Quite the change of pace with this book! The author very effectively pulled the reader down into the darkness right from the start. Lisa’s homecoming was not a joyful return. The reader immediately felt the oppressive environment and knew something bad was coming! This looks to be the start of a new series, so grab your copy and see if this is one you will love to dive into, if only for the chills and thrills!
Lisa comes home to find her mother in the last stages of cancer. And she notices that a Villa across from their home seems to be occupied.
But who or what haunted her – and what happened in that Villa and the grounds?
The gardens are open at midnight – the gates no longer padlocked, the labyrinth waiting with its secrets inside.
Nothing may leave the gardens – and there is always a price to pay.

Creepy. Creepy. Creepy.
That is all I could think while reading this book. Now do not get me wrong. It will not really creep you out. It was just enough that you know something is up but what is it? Trying to understand the dynamics between mother and daughter, main character and the house across the street, and what happens.
Author does a wonderful job with this genre book. This is my first by this author outside her Wonky Inn series, which I love. Read the series for fun cozy mystery.
This is my honest and freely given review . I did receive an ARC book.
A creepy good read. If you like dark paranormal stories and ones that
come with a very unique twist that you don’t see coming. Story flowed nicely with a few likeable characters, so when you get a chance pick up a copy and enjoy.
Midnight Garden – What an intriguing story, which I would expect to find on the original Twilight Zone of the Sixties. I could not put this book down; it had my imagination spinning throughout all sorts of scenarios trying to figure out what would happen. I did get a part of it correct, but there was one thing that did not cross my mind at all, the root of all their misery. Well written and quickly read with some messed up characters that either attracted or repulsed depending on the scene. A dark suspense story that is difficult to put down. Do not expect the same genre as the Wonky Inn Series, they are not as dark and do contain humor. I contacted the author to review her books and received this one through Booksprout. 5*
The Wonkiest Witch: Wonky Inn Book #1 – This is my first read by this author and I enjoyed the story. As I became wrapped up in the pages, I started enjoying the storylines and the characters and wondering how much witch Alf would become. Since I’ve been reading about witches a lot lately, I get bored when I come across another witch refusing to be herself. Why deny what you are; do you give yourself a lobotomy if you’re intelligent and want to dumb down to normal? One of my role models, as a kid, was Samantha Stevens, she remained true to herself, and an independent woman, regardless of her silly husband’s demands; unlike Jeannie, a beautiful, two-legged Labrador (eager to please her master).
Ms. Wycherley’s writing style is conversational and casual. The likable and interesting characters are developing at a good rate and will probably gain more depth as the series continues. The storylines do a good job setting the foundation from which the series will build. Once the intros are made there’s plenty of intrigue and suspense. A fire opens a can of troubles bringing the witch in Alf to full acceptance. A unique use of ghosts, which I’ve never read. I’m curious about the rest of the stories. I found this author on and her book through Booksprout. 4*
The Ghosts of Wonky Inn #2 – As much as I liked the first book, I loved this one. I absolutely love the ghosts and what they can actually do. This is one of the things I love about this series; plus the fact that the witch uses magic instead of denying who she is. The variety of ghostly characters are great. I couldn’t put the book down, I was so immersed in the fast paced, funny and intriguing storylines. The characters range in personalities, eras and locations, lending the story depth and substance. I wish all the books of the series had already been published so I could chain read them. I contacted the author to review her books. 5*
Weird Wedding At Wonky Inn #3 – The additions to this series just keep getting better. Another hard to put down story. I love some of the guest characters; especially when she hit him (read the story), although why use blackmail in this case? Alf mixes a party with a vampire wedding and wonders what else is going to happen; lots do happen. Great-grandmother brings her share to the table and then splits, leaving a spot of bother. George is great with his acceptance of the vamps since he didn’t get on board quickly about Alf being a witch previously; what trust is that. The past is over for Alf as she finds the Mori is still about. Oh, speaking of the past, how about crazed villagers and a burning (read the story). That’s all the spoilers I’ve giving out. There’s more but I want you to enjoy the book like I did, without a book report. I contacted the author about reviewing her books and received this through Booksprout. 4*
Fearful Fortunes and Terrible Tarot #4 – I can’t get enough of this series. I enjoy the characters and their functions throughout the series. This one has almost everyone undercover. Another well thought out addition full of intrigue and suspense, and humor. The storylines are developing and there’s definitely bad news ahead. This book is darker than the previous ones and Alf gets to experience what witches suffered through centuries past. I didn’t care for the ending; of course for the main reason (read the book) and Alf’s attitude was nonchalant concerning that reason. I did enjoy Mama Henri, a voodoo queen from NOLA. 4*
I didn’t know what to expect since I’ve only read Jeannie Wycherley’s cozy witchy mysteries, but WOW! If you’re looking for a book to give you chills, this is it! Now I want to try her other darker writings.
