Welcome to Midnight Fae Academy.Home of the Dark Arts.Vampires.And cruelly handsome fae.A forbidden bite led to my capture and recruitment. There are no flowers here.No life.Only death.I’m an Earth Fae who doesn’t belong here. They can play their little mind games all they want, but I’m going to find a way back to my elemental world. Even if it kills me.Except Headmaster Zephyrus is one step ahead … Even if it kills me.
Except Headmaster Zephyrus is one step ahead of my every move.
Prince Kolstov won’t stop cornering me.
And Shadow–the reason I’m in this damn mess to begin with–haunts my dreams.
My affinity for the earth is dying and being replaced by something more sinister. Something powerful. Something deadly.
The Midnight Fae believe this is my fate.
They claim that I was “recruited” for a purpose.
To battle a rising presence.
Or to die trying.
I don’t owe them a damn thing. But if I have to pass their trials to find my way home, then so be it. I survived a plague and far worse in the Elemental Fae realm. An ominous energy? Please. What a joke.
Give it your best shot.
I’m waiting.
And don’t you dare bite me.
Or I’ll make you regret it.
Author Note: This is a dark paranormal why choose trilogy with bully romance (enemies-to-lovers) elements. Despite Aflora’s opinions on the matter, there will definitely be biting. Shadow, aka Shade, guarantees it. This book ends on a cliffhanger.
more
I needed this series, after becoming completely addicted to Elemental Fae Academy and apparently landing in a never-ending book hangover. We did meet Aflora in the EFA trilogy and there are more tie-ins throughout, so you may want to read this first.
The writing is impressive, and the world is one I wouldn’t mind visiting; though it’s a bit dark at times, it’s more intriguing. Aflora is a brilliantly designed character who I instantly loved and continuity from meeting her in her own world, that of the elemental fae is on point.
Also: even though I basically did accurately guess how this book turned out, there was a little twist I hadn’t expected. I’m always super impressed by any little detail that I don’t manage to predict because it’s super rate.
Character development and the interpersonal relations are highly advanced. I got really into the various connections and enjoyed some really sweet moments between, not just Aflora and the respective men, but the men themselves. Brilliant writing.
Ends on a cliffhanger, but book 2 is out now, so no worries.
Note:
I both read the ebook and listened to the audiobook.
Audiobook remarks: There are multiple narrators, all with smooth, easy-to-listen-to voices and clear enunciation. The team definitely adds to the reading experience. Well done!
Also: Great continuity. Ella’s appearance in this one sounded the same (if it’s not the same, it’s def close enough) as she did in Ella’s Masquerade .
Ebook remarks: Absolutely stunning. One of the prettiest book interiors I’ve ever seen. And editing is well done, content is free of distracting errors.
Therefore:
Ebook: 5 stars
Audiobook: 5 stars
Narrators’ performances: 5 stars to everyone.
The world-building alone warrants ALL the stars. 10 out of 5. This world is much like a drug; I’m addicted and will never get enough.
Midnight Fae Academy: Book One: A Dark Paranormal Reverse Harem Bully Romance by Lexi C. Foss is an amazing story that I have had the privilege to read. This is book number one in this amazing start to a new series and I can not wait to read book number two. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about vampires, dark paranormal and reverse harem.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
Really enjoyed this story, great writing and characters, I need to read more.
So happy I started Aflora’s story! I read elemental fae academy around a year or so ago and always wondered what happened to Aflora. This book can be read alone but I feel like I got more impact from having read elemental fae academy series first as I understood the references to friends and why the council is so against Aflora’s new powers. That said This is an excellent start to a new academy series. New characters, new parts of the fae world, and tons of tension. I would have liked to see more interaction with some of the other students but she is a danger to everyone so I kind of get it.
As always Lexi Foss brings us books that catch and keep your attention until the very end. Then your always looking forward to the next book in the series. Her books are the ones that got me to start reading this genre and I’m happy I started reading them. Aflora is the heir to throne of the earth fae but while waiting on someone, a Fortune Fae tell her a cryptic vision about choosing a certain path but he has to run before telling her more. Within minute Aflora it hit by a bike and immediately is grabbed by a Midnight Fae with foul intentions toward her but no matter how hard she fights she is dragged into a portal. With all that is going on Alora finds out that the fae that kidnapped here (Shadow) is her mate. But with all that is going on, midnight fae academy will soon be starting up and Alora will be finding out about of her future there. Also their are more men coming into her life. There’s more to come but you’ll have to read the book to learn more about what is going to happen.
Aflora’s an Earth Fae and she gets bitten by Shadow, aka Shade. She starts to change and has to go to Midnight Fae Academy. There she meets Zeph, Prince Kols, and of course Shade. Aflora just wants to go home, but can she if she’s now a Midnight Fae? Only the shadows know.
Holly Molly this book is so good!!! I started it last night planning to read a bit and finish today… Guess who didn´t get enough sleep, lol. The one thing that I didn´t enjoy is how she was treated and Shade, I don´t like Shade… Lets read book two and see if I like him better, lol
“I was really excited about this series first because fae that’s cool and second RH? That’s a huge yes!!!! Though I was sure about the bul**ing part. I’m down for all the enemies to lovers but bu**y like that it’s frustrating lol. Anyway when that constant push and pull really is sexual tension everything becomes hotter and well I was down for everything! From the first moment it was a mix of funny, sarcasm and that feeling of nothing is going to be the same. I wasn’t wrong about that! I’m looking forward for the next book. Oh and the bitting… no kidding!”
I loved this book, it was fast paced, action packed, a real emotional rollercoaster of a read with some devious plot twists. I couldn’t help feeling bad for Aflora, everything seems set against her. I can’t wait to dive into book 2
This book hooked me and really me in! I am enjoying the characters and story as they grow and form and can not wait for the next book! We’ll written.
In the different Fae realms, each type rules and keeps to their own. But when Shade (Shadow) bites Aflora, against her will, which is strictly forbidden, the Midnight Fae realm is thrown into uncertainty, as they wait to see how the bite will impact her. But there’s more to this situation, and it is hinted at multiple times – the “accidental” bite, clearly not so accidental, but the larger motives are yet to be revealed. While Aflora struggles being separated from her Elemental Fae realm, where she is the sole remaining Earth Fae royalty, new magic awakens within her that both scares and exites her. And the Midnight Fae charged with watching her, Prince Kols, Zeph, and Shade, are all drawn to her, even though any kind of relationship would be strictly forbidden, and could mean their deaths. But as things progress, and emotions can’t be held back any longer, Aflora is left feeling betrayed, and looking for revenge.
This is definitely a dark, twisted story – if you don’t like that kind of thing, then this isn’t for you. It deals with dubious consent, and bullying aspects, but these aren’t humans, and don’t have human morals or guidelines, so if you can get onboard with that, you’ll definitely enjoy this ride.
The narration is spot on, with multiple narrators taking on all the primary characters, providing unique and fitting voices for each of them, and as an added bonus, all dialog is done by each characters narrator, regardless of the chapter POV. This lends beautifully to the overall enjoyment and immersion into the story.
I am loving this storyline! The confusion, not knowing who to trust or if she can trust anyone. The sexual tension, the chaotic emotions, all the different magics, the drastic differences between the elemental fae and the midnight fae and the absolute danger in the situation. Seriously, I know I’m rambling but it was a great read, Lexi C. Foss is a fantastic writer, and I cannot wait for more!!
Audiobook Review:
This story was so so good. And that doesn’t even begin to do it justice. It was so many of my favorite story elements combined. It was a paranormal romance. That’s one of my favorite tropes when done well and this author really does it well. A fun and likable leading lady who is strong and caring. It’s a reverse harem which I just can’t seem to get enough of in the last few years. Plus it has leading men that you kind of want to punch but you also know they have goodness in them.
I not only liked the flow and the way this story unfolded, but I like knowing there’s more to come. There is already so much going on and yet more to learn which I am super excited about. This story was awesome and attention holding from the start to the jaw dropping finish.
The narrators were beyond fantastic. There were new to me voices and some of my favorites. I loved how all the chapters were handled with the narration with each main character having a distinct tone, if not their own narrator. The multi cast story telling style is really growing on me and it was really well done here.

Audio Book Review
Wow I loved this book. Afloura’s world got rocked with one bite. She got thrown into the Midnight Fae’s world head first with no floaties. She is an Elemental Fae with secrets in her past unbeknownst to her. Midnight Fae are most compared to Vampires. This book is steamy and fast paced. A lot happens to Afloura in this book. I can’t wait for book two. The narration was incredible multi cast in duet style.
Midnight Fae Academy: Book One by Lexi C. Foss is a dark paranormal reverse harem bully romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Sarah Puckett, Kale Williams, Gregory Salinas, Rich Miller, and Lessa Lamb.
Book does come with an author’s note “This is a dark paranormal reverse harem trilogy with bully romance (enemies-to-lovers) elements. Despite Aflora’s opinions on the matter, there will definitely be biting. Shadow, a.k.a. Shade, guarantees it. This book ends on a cliff-hanger.”
I absolutely love Lexi’s books! She does an amazing job pulling me into the books. I am loving the relationship that’s blooming between Aflora, Kols, Zeph, and Slade. I really enjoyed that we got each of their points of view throughout the book. It really brought the story to life. I can’t wait for the book two to be released on audio so I can get more of their story.
Sarah, Kale, Gregory, Rich, and Lessa did an amazing job on the narration! I loved this dual narration throughout the book. This is the first book I have listened to where each character had a different narrator. It was EVERYTHING!
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves paranormal romances.

Aflora is an Earth Fae, whose essence is sunshine, earth, flowers and all things living. She’s transported not by choice, to the dark realm, after being bitten by Shadow, a Vampire. He has a reason for what he did, but all will be found out in due time. There are many unanswered questions. Of course, it ends with a cliffhanger! This story brings you into the world of vampires, gargoyles, and darkness. I can’t wait to find out what happens next.

Fascinating Start to a Brilliant New Series! Outstanding Multi-Cast Narration
Midnight Fae Academy: Book One: A Dark Why Choose Vampire Romance
By: Lexi C Foss
Narrated by: Sarah Puckett, Kale Williams, Rich Miller, Gregory Salinas, & Lessa Lamb
I loved everything about this audiobook, from Lexi C. Foss’ wonderful writing style to the fascinating story and characters she created to the multicast of fabulously talented narrators who brought her story to life. The story grabbed my attention right from the start and captivated it straight to the end. Ms. Foss is a master at creating imaginative worlds filled with characters who are equally imaginative. Her descriptive details brings you along side the characters, allowing you to see and feel what they are seeing, feeling and thinking. On a need to know basis of course, I love how she holds back info, making you wonder and think what is really going on. Aflora, the lead female, is an Earth Fae Princess, the last of the Royal family. Shadow aka “Shade” is a Midnight Fae who goes to earth and claims what is not supposed to be his, Aflora. He brings her back to his realm, what he did was a big no-no but since she is the last of her line the council decided to take a wait and see approach to see how the claiming bond takes. They send her to the Midnight Fae Academy and assign Prince Kolstov aka Kols to watch over her, as well as Headmaster Zephyrus aka “Zeph”. Aflora is new to their world and their way thinking, she needs to learn their ways as well as what kind of powers she possesses. I loved how everything plays out in this book, how Aflora’s relationship grow with each of the guys, then there is her new friendship with Ella. Zeph and Kols have their own history, then there is Shade, still not sure what the deal is with him, or any of them for that matter but time will tell. This is a great start to the series, a reverse harem bully romance, the story is cleverly plotted with plenty of drama, angst, twists and turns, mystery, thrilling and suspenseful moments, emotional and heartfelt moments and some hot sexy times. I knew this was ending with a cliffhanger but wow, I did not see that coming, WTG Lexi C. Foss, thank you for another fantastic story.
And for the fabulous multicast narration, Lexi C. Foss casted the perfect lineup of talented narrators to bring her characters to life. Each narrator did an awesome job portraying their character, taking the role and making it their own. Sarah Puckett nailed the role of Aflora, she sounded just as I pictured her to sound as did the rest of cast, Gregory Salinas as Shade, Kale Williams as Kols, accent and all, Rich Miller as Zeph and Lessa Lamb as Ella. They all played their roles with perfection, grasped their character’s persona and all their emotions. They are entertaining storytellers and their performance enhances the story to another level of greatness. Thank you for this fabulous listen!

AUDIOBOOK REVIEW
ALC provided by Pink Flamingo Productions.
OMG, first I need to talk about the perfectly, amazing, brilliant multicast narration, it was perfection, it’s really well done and flawless, truly enjoyable, all of the narrators did such an amazing work. The cast was just perfect for each character:
Kale Williams as Kols, he is the perfect Kols, I truly enjoy all of his narrations and this was no exception.
Rich Miller as Zeph. It’s my first time listening to him, but wow he has a truly great voice, so deep and srong, that suit Zeph to perfection.
Gregory Salinas as Shade. I love that he was cast as Shade, his voice just suits Shade’s playful, carefree attitude, it was brillant.
Sarah Puckett as Aflora. Well Sarah is by far one of my favourite female narrators, and she keeps proving why with this performance of Aflora, she is terrific bringing every emotion of her to live.
Lessa Lamb as Ella. I was so glad that Lessa Lamb came back as her roll of Ella for this book, I really love her performance of Ella in Ella’s Masquerade and this book wouldn’t have been the same without her voicing Ella.
Now, for the story. I’ve tried so hard to stay away from any post regarding MFA to avoid spoiling myself, I wanted to go in blind to get the full experience, and it was so worth it. The story is great, it capture me from the beginning and I couldn’t stop listening. I needed to figure out what was going to happen, how would all of them would become mates because I just didn’t have a clue how that was going to happen, and GAH of course it was done brilliantly.
But wait… That ending, that cliffhanger… Why? Why Shade? Why, why why?
Now I have to wait patiently for the second book to come out on audio, and trying to stay away of any spoilers for the other books.
Overall it was fantastic! Thanks Lexi C Foss for creating such incredible words, stories and characters.
I’m a huge fan of this author, but I’ve put off reading this as academy books and RH aren’t really my favourite genre to read. I should have known better, Lexi C Foss hasn’t written a book I haven’t loved and this was no exception! Fantastic world building and a mysterious, magical storyline kept me turning the pages.
So what do we have……three Midnight Fae men all vying for Aflora’s attention. She’s an Earth Fae Princess but after being bitten by Shade without her consent (which was a real dick move) she is thrust into a dark realm she doesn’t belong in and into the midnight fae academy, while her powers are monitored and assessed.
These three guys…..what can I say, they all at time were utter asshats to Aflora, treating her horribly, but they were all mysterious, intriguing and enticing and stood up for her when it really mattered. I felt for Aflora being torn away from her life and responsibilities. I loved her, she was sweet, kind, her curses made me chuckle but she had an inner strength and determination, even as she hated (but loved) the pull of all three men. There was electric chemistry between them and some fiery heat between Kols and Zeph I’d definitely like to see more of please! What is Shade up to? He has so many dark secrets and riddles but I couldn’t help liking him, despite what he did to Aflora.
Although there was lots of sexy heat, the RH hasn’t developed fully yet and the academy part actually took a back seat to the interactions and growing connection between the four. They were all in their twenties which helped too, so no immature teenage angst and mean girl bullies, yay!
Aflora’s growing powers are mysterious and intriguing and after that cliffhanger ending I’m looking forward to finding out more!
4.5 dark, magical stars
Wow! This book was Everything! Lexi Foss creates such an intriguing world of magic you left dying for more! I read the prequel to this series first so I knew a little bit about the Midnight Fae world, it made me excited for the series but I was so blown away with just how fantastic this was! Midnight Fae Academy starts off with a bang! You’re thrown into this new world with all these elements and rules and bonds, it’s exciting and consuming! I loved Aflora, I think she handled everything extremely well considering she was thrust into this situation completely unwillingly! I was in a hate/love relationship with the guys, this forbidden and so tempting, well always crave what we can’t have. I love the surprising relationship that the prince and warrior have! I have to say this book its sooooo freaking HOTT!!! I feel like I devoured this one so fast! There are so many secrets and pieces of the puzzle that are missing! I’m so hooked on this series and the characters, I’m dying to dig into the next book!
