A fantastic edition to Mandy M. Roth’s Immortal Ops world! A must read!
Innocent and unaware
There is just something about the fang gang. Don’t get me wrong, I love all of the ops books, but the vampires just seem more. The author has made them old, with the classic proper air we expect, and a beautiful brutality that we don’t see in the shifters or fae. I really enjoyed this book and the way that these two had to overcome preconceived notions, protective alpha males and a group of baddies to reach their HEA. I can’t wait to read the next book in the ops series.
Love all the books in this series!
This it the first book in the Crimpson Ops Series. This is a short novella. Bhaltair and Meena’s story is fun and action packed. Now, I can’t wait to listen to the next book in the Series. D.C. Cole did an amazing job with the narration.
A perfect couple that doesn’t even realize they are each other’s mate. Even though this is a quick listen, you get all the feels through the book and end up very happy with the results.
Amazing narration!!
BhaltairMeena! Great Story! Great Audible Listen
Midnight Echoes
Immortal Ops: Crimson Ops Series, Book 1
By: Mandy M. Roth
Narrated by: D. C. Cole
Another fascinating story by Mandy M. Moore. She is a gifted & creative author. I am fairly new to her work and am loving the imaginative world and characters she has created. The storylines and characters are interesting and well developed. This is Meena & Bhaltair’s story, an unlikely pair, she human and he a centuries old vampire. Bhaltair always felt something for Meena but she was off limits and as powerful as he is he it is possible he may hurt her if they had a physical relationship. Unbeknownst to them, there may be more to Meena, she may hold some dormant supernatural powers. Their story is a fast moving one, there is drama, angst, action and some romance. Mandy M. Moore thanks for anther great story, I am looking forward to checking out more of your work.
I listened to the Audible edition, D.C. Cole is an amazing narrator and voice performer. He brings the characters to life, gives each their own unique voice and personality. I love the accents he use and his ability to switch dialogue between characters with such ease. He is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to! Thanks for another great listen
I read this in a Vampire series of books called “Until Dawn”. I loved this story and it lead me to the writer and her other stories.. I recommend this read. 5 Thumbs up.
Hybrids trying to kill or kidnap humans, Fae not receiving their gifts til later and all around good guys kicking the bad guys buts. Fated mates not finding one another til almost too late.
. .
Loved the vampires in this book. Bhaltair is such an alpha Male. Love how he put Meenas safety above his own needs. Love the show of sisterly love between Meena and Rose. How they fought and were totally different but they forgot about that when one was in danger.
LOVED this book!!!! It has a unique spin on vampirism that I find interesting. The vampire side is referred to as a demon inside.
Bhaltair & Meena are lovable characters with Meena’s story being very interesting & different from anything I’ve ever read.
Whitney & Aine’s comic relief had me laughing hysterically. They are so funny!
The only downside is the book is too short. I wanted to keep reading Bhal & Menna’s story.
Loved this book and did not put it down! It had me hooked. I have read every I-Ops world book and this one was wow as I expected it to be.
Bhaltair has known Meena since she was born, before then really. He is very protective of her, he does not want to harm her. His feelings towards her change when she becomes of age but why as she is only human. He could hurt her or worse, kill her, if he gives in.
Meena has been having fantasies about her Grandfather’s friend Bhaltair . Yes he is old, but he is a vampire.
I loved the push and pull of these two. She wants to be more than human and he wants to be more human. When Meena mentions another man, oh all hell breaks loose. But Bhaltair does not know why he is acting this way (duh MATE).To be as old as he is he is a little dense. Then Meena’s life is in danger and oh crap on a cracker the crap hits the fan again.
There is a HEA with this one, but no spoiler zone here. This is one of those books that I did not put down.
This is another great story written by Mandy Roth. She does an amazing job drawing in to the world she has created. We briefly met Bhaltair in a previous story and I was intrigued by him then. Meena is a human born of a part vampire/part fae mom and a pure vampire father. She has always been seen as fragile and ever since she turned 18 she cannot stop thinking about Bhaltair. Bhaltair has always kept her at arms length until one night…the night their worlds will change forever. Meena is not as safe as what she thinks she is. She is being hunted and Bhaltair will have to come to realization that she is his mate before he loses her to another. This story is full of action and romance. I absolutely fell in love with the main characters and look forward to more stories from the Immortal Ops World.
I enjoyed reading this book, it has a great storyline. Can’t wait for more from this author.
We’ve had glimpses of Bhaltair in earlier books within series in the Immortal Ops World of connecting series. One of the reasons I’m so glad that I did follow the author’s recommended reading order is that I’m getting a good idea of who is coming up soon to find their mate and hopefully their happy ending. While Midnight Echoes is a short novella-length story, it does give us a better understanding of this mysterious, powerful vampire (a member of the “Fang Gang” which several operatives across the different ops groups affectionately/jokingly call the Crimson Ops division).
Bhaltair is older than most, could be a master vampire in his own right yet stays as the right-hand man of the most powerful vampire around out of loyalty, and because he is drawn to watch over, protect, and guard Meena who is a human born to supernatural parents. Meena’s twin, Rose, did get powers/abilities and isn’t afraid to show off in front of Meena often. In truth, I didn’t like Rose… at all. She’s spoiled, jealous, an attention-seeking brat who constantly demeans and puts down her twin. And like all secondary characters that we’ve met, it’s very possible that one day Rose will have her own story told – hopefully finding her mate will improve her attitude.
Bhaltair is convinced that he will remain mateless, yet his draw to Meena is growing stronger especially since she’s reached adulthood. Although Meena has always been seen as frail and unable to defend herself without supernatural abilities, Bhaltair has been extremely gentle with her – except maybe that time he accidentally broke bones during a training session, it was then that he became pretty much hands-off in super protection mode. Right now, Meena is ready to move on with a secret admirer tired of being seen as helpless and weak. What Meena doesn’t know could lead to danger beyond what she could imagine… for there are others watching, waiting for the right moment to strike, and that moment has arrived.
There were times when I so wanted to shake Bhaltair or give him a stern talking to at the least… to get over himself and simply believe what is right in front of his stubborn eyes. It took a near-tragedy but he’s finally verbally claiming Meena, now if only he’d get on with the rest of their lives together instead of holding back in protection mode.
Midnight Echoes is an intriguing introduction to the Crimson Ops series – I feel like I already know many of these vampires from the appearances they’ve made in other stories, I’ll be proven wrong in that when their individual stories come out I’m sure for they all have mysteries we haven’t had even a glimpse of… yet.
Although it’s a short story it packs a powerful punch. I enjoyed Midnight Echoes and now need more vampires in my life.
I own a Kindle edition of this story.
At last the Fang Gang has arrived and another sexy Scot has claimed my heart from Striker!!
Meena is the pure human relation to the Vampire leader. Her sister somehow managed to be HUman with..extras but not quite vampire but she drew the short straw and training to defend herself can leave her literally broken! Bhaltair is her grandfathers right hand man and has been involved in her life since she was a baby. She would give anything to have him see her as anything but a frail and fragile human.
Talk about reformed bad boy! Bhaltair is dark, dangerous and totally droolworthy )He is Scottish so I’m going to be biased!!)
Meena had tried her best to stay away from the training room while her sister trained, cause she always felt when he looked at her it was if he looked too hard she just might break. But lately she had found herself drawn to the room, not because of Rose, it was her grandfather’s second-in-command who was doing the training, Bhaltair. But he gets his boxers in a bunch when he finds out Meena has plans to date a wolf! Sure the guy may be a meek and mild professor but he is not the man for Meena. Bhaltair wants to be that man but he is terrified he’d hurt Meena, inadvertently or not. Then there is the small matter of his best friend, Meenas grandfather, and her father killing him once they found out what he did!
Crimson Ops (Fang gang) series has started with a bang and I’m intrigued to know what happens next. Rose seems to be a bit of a Mean Girl and I’m not sure I like her yet so not sure how that’s going to work out. Whitney, Meena’s father’s best friend, almost steals the show with his surfer boy looks but Bhaltair holds his own. I’m already trying to figure who gets who for a mate and my head is reeling! Great characters and now we finally get to see the Fang Gang in action!
